DESCRIPTION

We have the reviews of people who purchased the products and services of The Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute (Ophthalmologist) in Maryland.

At this moment the firm receives a rating of 3.8 stars over 5 and the score has been calculated on 46 reviews.

As you can read, the average of ratings that it reaches is really high, and it is based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the score is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are happy, is that it works.

You know that we do not usually bother to set evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...

This Ophthalmologist is classified in the category of Eye care center.

I had successful eye surgery at the Institute. The process was smooth and uneventful. Doctor, nurses and other staff were pleasant and effective. I highly recommend the Wilmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Zimmer-Galler is GREAT.. I went for an eye issue and turned out that my retina was starting to detach. Was scheduled for surgery the next day at 8:30 am, I would recommend her to anyone and can't say enough about they way the procedure went. Its a year later and my scleral buckle is doing well and vision is pretty good with correction contacts which i wore before. The one Negative is the wait for a normal appointment, its pretty bad and they move you multiple times..

Very professional helpful staff. They truly care.

Ready @ 10:45 as scheduled. Staff ignored us. Still no surgery time!

I am so pleased with the Wilmer Eye Institute. My husband had to have emergency surgery because of 2 tears in his retina. One of the tears was pretty big. So after going to the office in Odenton, we were sent immediately to the Baltimore location for the surgery. The wait time was minimal considering they were fitting us into an already tight schedule. Dr. Mandeep Singh did the surgery and he was excellent in everything from his bedside manner to the surgery itself. He took his time and answered all of our questions and lessened our concerns. We are extremely happy.

Send your worst enemies here. Wilmer won't know they had an appointment, Wilmer won't have their correct phone number, Wilmer won't actually order their contacts/lenses until they remind them a week after handing Wilmer their freshly minted perscription from Wilmer's own optician - your foes will tear out their insides in frustration; you will be unstoppable. I bet that Popeyes up the street is managed better than this fail of an optical center that hides its endemic incompetency behind the (at this point illusory) prestige of the Hopkins name. TL;DR Look elsewhere for even mediocre service whereas here it is aggressively bad.

I took my father to Wilmer to do an eye examination for redness. The doctor typed the diagnosis and gave us a print-out; there was little oral explanation about what to do, nor a prescription, as if we should simply read it. It was costly and worst of all, I was given a voice message number to request for an itemized receipt. After leaving five voice messages and waiting for several days, I still received no response. Worst experience ever. Totally disappointed

In January I went for eye surgery to Wilmer Eye Clinic. No pain. Surgery success! No more blindness. Thank you, Dr. Liu and Dr. Correa! I am very happy and mostly satisfied, except for getting a letter which described what must be a huge factual error by some medical accounting clerk at John's Hopkins Advantage MD Medicare HMO supplemental health insurance plan offices. They denied payment (to the Wilmer Clinic, I think) because "the diagnosis did not justify the procedure" ! Total blindness in one eye caused by internal macular bleeding cured by vitrectomy (surgical removal of all vireous gel so that precise laser beam could seal the tiny bleeds, then gluing shut the 3 incisions and inflating the empty eyeball with air) - - it seemed like that recommended procedure was a good choice to me, so I agreed to it. Total success seems to me to be sufficient justification. Accepting blindness as an outcome doesn't seem like a reasonable alternative, does it?

The attendant / representative here is very rude. When I was calling them to make an appointment, they asked me sensitive information such as race, ethnicity, and even citizenship. All other clinics or hospitals do not require such info to make an appointment. In addition, the appointment day was so late that I doubt they pretend to be "booked up".

The operation that I had on my eye was exactly what I expected, no shocking surprises and no uncertainties, the two Ophthalmologists and the Cornea Specialist told me prior to the operation that today's technology couldn't improve my sight because of the severity of the eye accident that impaired my vision, however the plan was to keep my eye from getting worse and they did exactly what they planned and all I have to do is protect and prevent another serious eye accident...GOOD JOB!!!

As a regular patient in the Retinal clinic, I can say that thus far I have been spared worsening vision. My retinal specialist is caring, learned, and very professional. She keeps on top of my issues with digital retinal imaging twice per year. She is in contact with my diabetic endocrinologist as well. I have come to trust her implicitly and am very satisfied with my ongoing care and monitoring.

On Oct 2, I was schedule to see the doctor that what they wrote on my paper. I arrived there on time. Went to sign in and they didnt have me schedule for the day, then the receptionist try to call the department no one answered the phone. The receptionist told me she was going to lunch and for me to sit and wait until she return before she follow up on my appointment.. She left I went down to the glacoma dept and they directed where I needed to go. Once again it was a error that they wrote wrong date on my paper. So no test was done. I was given another date to come in for October 16. Well they had to change this date too,. so now I have to wait until Nov 22 to be seen by the doctor. I am really disappointment with how it been three months of waiting to be seen.

Took my son there with no appointment and they saw him on the spot. It led to a quick diagnosis and beginning treatment for MS. Disappointing results but without them seeing him when they did he’d still be undiagnosed. Great Staff

Dr. Ashley Behrens is a outstanding surgeon. I had cataract surgery on my left eye on 6/6/19 and it went great. Dr. Behrens was very meticulous with me...knowing that I suffer from tic douloureux. I am very satisfied and highly recommend him. My left eye sight is clear and I had no complications or issues.

Susan Lewis Paciga

While I expected more of a diagnosis (but I guess they cannot give what they don't have) I thought everyone from the doctor to the technicians to the people who checked us in to be incredibly friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. My hometown doctor thought my rapidly deteriorating eyesight was due to the corneas, but Dr Schine said my corneas are not problematic. She did the right thing in sending me. Their equipment is state of the art.

Dr singman is the best opthamologist ever. I drive an hour and a half just to go to him. He found things that every other doctor missed

I have been going to The Wilmer Eye Institute since 1997 when first diagnosed with Cancer. I have had 5 surgeries since and still have my eye. The vision is not great, but the doctors here are the best and they take care of you. One reason the wait is so long is that they take the time to talk to you and listen to your issues and concerns. I would recommend this place to anyone who needed care.

Shell Git

Wow. We had such a positive experience here.

Jennifer Evan

Long wait time even when you show up on time to your appointment, without any apology by staff or update as to why a delay.

Dr. Reddy is the nicest doctor I have met i didnt give 5 stars because my first time i went there they forgot about me i had my appt at 1 terry the tech called me shortly after 1 she did her vision tests and told me to have a seat back in the waiting room this was 127 pm it was 238 when terry noticed tht i had been sitting in the waiting room for awhile she let the doctors know and told me 1 of the doctors had my paperwork in his pocket n had a pt in his room for an hour which made them forget about me the doctor who had my info saw me and told me to go back in the waiting room to see dr reddy bc she has more experience than he does other people in the waiting room complained about the wait time the 2nd time i went there n i noticed tht 3rd time i went there wasnt bad

Got it watch it

Their staff prevented me from seeing a doctor twice in one day because they didnt call my insurance to confirm it. I had to run to the car and call myself to find out they never called and i was clear to see my doctor both times. I am now having to sue. This place was good pver 5yrs ago. More money means less attention to staff hiring. Been a customer for over 20 years and i am happy to say ill never go back.

I wasn't pleased at all. My doctor stick couldn't explain why I was going blind and why it was getting worse. Also they didn't wanna do more test to find out if I have a cyst or not. Then she tried saying I have nothing to worry about that I'm fine when really I do cause I'm going blind and it's getting worse the older I get. She couldn't give me a reason for my constant headaches at all. She wasn't very Percsie about what's going on with me. I waited hours and hours and they ran lots of test but they acted like they didn't care. Very bad experience.

We're really fortunate to live near one of the top 3 Ophthalmology Centers in the US, so for that we are grateful. It takes a few visits to figure out the best place to park/enter and how to get to the Maumenee Building (where Wilmer is located) depending upon the door/building through which you enter. The Orleans Street Garage has a sky walk/bridge over to the Hospital and seems to be the easiest/closest. If you're lost once you get inside, its pretty easy to spot a hospital staff person to give you directions. Since figuring that stuff out, it's usually been a smooth experience with pretty minimal wait times for us. Typically the line to check in (on the main level when you first walk into Wilmer) moves pretty quickly and, again, there are plenty of staff. Then for Pediatrics you go down to the basement; not sure what's upstairs. The last several visits when I go to check out (and schedule a 3 month follow-up, per the doctor) they say the Pediatric Ophthalmology schedule "hasn't been released" or is "unavailable/locked" and suggest I try calling in a few weeks and hopefully it'll be available by then. By the time I remember to call they're "already booked" much of the time and the 3 month follow up ends up being more like 4-6 months later. Someone really should follow up with patients if/when they are unable to schedule a follow-up appointment which the doctor has ordered.

Saved my mom's eye site. She went to Wills Eye first and they missed a small hole in her retina. Fortunately my father took her to Wilmer's for a second opinion.

I called at 12.08 for appointment and recording said, we are closed for lunch, I was shocked to listen that it is closed for lunch, your institute is over staffed and there is no one to take calls from noon to 12.30

After sitting one hour in the waiting room, they took us in and we waited for another hour before the Dr. showed up. We wanted them to re-exam my Mom’s eyes. We have been complaining for the past six months about puff under or above her eye. It seems they have no clue and they are just sending us to meet their whole team in the past six month.
