Last week I went to Columbia Family Eye Care for the first time, for a routine eye exam. I was extremely well satisfied with how everything was done. Everyone in the office was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Both Dr. Hess and his assistant were very knowledgeable and thorough in doing the examination, and took the time to explain the process and results, and to answer my questions. I definitely plan to return there in the future, and highly recommend this practice.

I just had my first appointment and it was excellent! I saw Dr. Jane Council, who was wonderful! The medical assistant/tech was awesome too! I usually hate going to the eye doctor because I can't stand the dilation drops, but they had another option so that I wouldn't have to get those (yay!). They saw a mole on the back of my eye that many other eye docs haven't been able to find. Dr. Council explained the effects of astigmatism on my vision better than anyone has before and gave me a couple of options for finding the most clear and comfortable contact lenses. Thank you!

Dr. Hess was good, but the staff was terrible. the lady hung up my phone and didn't want me to talk to the doctor.

Our family has been visiting this service provider for 4 years now and last week was the very first time we missed an appointment as we had an emergency overnight (my father who is 78 and who lives 350 miles away had a fall). We called them first thing in the morning apologizing to reschedule an appointment that was that afternoon but their rude staff insisted on paying $200 for the missed appointment. They wouldn't even move the schedule a couple of hours so that we could return home. I understand that they have the staff to pay but any service provider who cannot factor in that life happens to people and insist on having a policy where any missed appointment ( even if it is for the very first time) is charged an exorbitant price ($200 in our case) do not deserve my business. When I told that I am moving to a different service provider, the staff just hung up the phone on me. I live in Clarksville and promote neighborhood businesses but I cannot recommend this provider. There are many providers who use technology well like sending a text where we can reply Yes or No for appointments and some who let us use online scheduling. My criteria going forward for picking a healthcare provider is to first check their scheduling system. There are 6 other optometrists in this area and they all have better staff and better service. Heed to mine and other reviewers here and avoid this provider if you can.

Office staff was very responsive to needs and concerns. Dr. Hess is current on more recent technology and studies. Very good experience.

I walked in without an appt. because I was leaving for Italy in two days and had seen flashes out of the side of my eye. I really just thought I'd ask and was pleasantly (?) surprised at how seriously my question was taken. I was immediately seen by a dr. (Dr. Council was thorough and kind) and was sent to a retina specialist immediately. I was very impressed with everyone with whom I had contact.

Had to cancel my appointment due to extenuating circumstances. The lady who answered the phone when I called to cancel told me there would be a $50 fee for canceling within 24 hours. I informed her I would not be coming back if that is how customers are treated. Too bad, as I think Dr. Hess does a great job. They must not need customers.

Dr. Hess is personable and efficient! He is my teenage kids favorite doctor! The office staff is friendly and very helpful when it comes to figuring out all the things related to Vision Insurance! Highly recommend this practice.

Dr Council was very thorough with my first eye exam in many years. I'm impressed with all the new technology employed in this office. The all female staff was very helpful.

Dr Hess, was very personable and welcomed me as a new patient. Faith was a great efficient and wanted to make sure I was satisfied. Maybe looking into the software that shows you with your frames on and what is the best design for your face. Overall great visit!

I have been a patient of Dr. Hess since he opened his practice. He's the best doctor I've ever had, even when he scolds me for leaving my contacts in too long. Now that I live in Richmond, I need to find a new optomotrist. Notice that I didn't say Replacement. No one could replace Dr. Hess.
