Great staff! Very friendly and helpful. Doctor was wonderful and informative. I thought I may have needed glasses and I was right. I will be reccomending this place to EVERYONE I know who needs an optician. Only thing I don't like is that my insurance covers everything except all the extras and the $25 they charge for shipping. If its something I need it should be covered and $25 dollars seems like a lot to ship out and back a small, light weight pair of glasses. But hey that's just my opinion. Otherwise great place to go. 5 stars!!!

Family oriented and great environment. The doctor is a class act and will work with you if you need any type of help with purchasing your glasses or contacts. She finds solutions and alternatives if you ask. Very kind doctor and good staff. We are there for life.

Llevaba a mi niña hay pero cada ves que íbamos eran de 350 a 400 en cada cambiada de lentes. Demasiado caro y se tardan demasiado en entregártelos. La verdad no se lo recomiendo a nadie. Ahora a mi hija la llevo a otro lugar y mucho mucho más barato y un buen servicio.
I had been there before 3 to 4 times but this appointment recently the newer staff member was charging me for a reg ck up. I have insurance the same tht I had prior. S Also one person gave me a price and the other another! The owner I didnt see so I cancele. There was no way I was paying for a reg ck up tht is covered. I even called about it although I have been their numerous times! Go figure. Waste of my time!

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the doctor but the office staff was the issue for me. PLEASE VERIFY YOUR COPAYS BEFORE VISITING THIS PLACE! I made an appointment for an eye exam ONLY. Which is covered under my insurance with a $15 copay. YET they wanted to charge me $40, $15 for the exam and $25 for "materials". I told them I am not requesting any "materials" frames, lenses or otherwise. I was told the "materials" was for the doctor giving me the prescription after the exam. What kind of foolishness is that. I was able to verify with my insurance that the $25 copay applies to frames and lenses ONLY so why are you trying to charge me this copay for an exam. A bit shady to me. I was looking forward to meeting Dr. Chika but I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Dr. Chika is not only a caring Dr., but she is very efficient and puts her patients first. My daughter loved every eye exam with Dr. Chika.Thanks again Dr. Chika.
Do not go to this rip of place. My mom went here and they charged her for what was suppose to be her free annual exam covered by her insurance. Then when my mom asked for a copy of her eyeglasses prescription the charged her $5, because she didn’t want to purchase their recommended $600 glasses. This place is a rip off.
I was a patient of Dr. Chika when she was at Wal-Mart Vision. The staff and professionalism is horrible. No reminder calls depending on staff. Don't go
NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!! FIRST OFF I WAS CHARGED FOR A DILATION SERVICE THAT IS COVERED BY MY INSURANCE. THEN WHEN MY INSURANCE CALLED TO INFORM THEM THAT THE DILATION IS A COVERED BENEFIT THE OFFICE MANAGER, ALDA, ASKED HIM IF HE WAS GOING TO PAY FOR THE DILATION? AND WHEN HE RESPONDED THAT HE WOULD, SHE REPLIED, "NO YOU WON'T. YOU WON'T PAY FOR THE SERVICES" THEN PLACED HIM ON HOLD FOR DR. CHIKA. BY THE END OF THE NIGHT I HAD PAID OUT $125 FOR 2 PAIR OF GLASSES, 2 EYE EXAMS, A DILATION AND $50 HANDLING FEES. BUT I WAS TOLD THAT AS PART OF OUR BENEFITS THAT SHATTER PROOF GLASSES WERE A COVERED BENEFIT. ONLY TO CALL TODAY AND BE TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $40 FOR THAT SERVICE. I AM ALL THE WAY DONE!!! THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST VISIT TO DR. CHIKA'S OFFICE. AND I WANT MY $$$ BACK OR I WILL REVERSE THE CHARGES WITH MY BANK SINCE THE SERVICES I RECEIVED WERE COVERED BENEFITS.
Staff is not great with knowledge of insurance coverage. Likely to over charge with shipping and handling fee that should be an operational cost the provider handles.
I would give this place 0 stars if I had the option. I went to this place for an eye exam last October or so and needed contacts. This place nickel and dimes you and asks for fees under the sun. I called for a cheaper contact prescription because I wasn't accustomed to paying $80 for contacts. The doctor found a cheaper alternative for $25, at checkout my total was $35 and some change and I asked why the extra charge and I was then told for a lab fee??!!! I asked for what? The representative then explained its for shipping because they don't stock contact lenses!!!! I called back a few months later for my prescription for the cheaper alternative so I could buy contacts from another eye facility who would have them in stock so I wouldn't be charged an extra $10, and the representative told me that the contacts I bought are no longer manufactured that they were discontinued over a year ago!!! I then said how is that even possible if I just bought a pair a few months ago!! I then asked to speak to the manager who was on vacation! This place gives you the total run around!!!
Additional $80 for a contact lens fitting fee, that would not be covered by insurance. Thus place is a ripoff. I've never paid additionally for an exam.
Dr. Chika was great with both of my daughters (ages 6&8.) I am extremely confident in her optometry skills. My daughters are happy with their glasses selections as well.
If I could could give this business less than 1 star i would. They woman with the accent LIED and scheduled appts. For all 3 of my children 3 days before their insurance was active. She scheduled for Friday which I did NOT agree too & when i went in on Monday she told me I had to pay $75 dollars. As I explained the situation to the doctor she lied and told me she would wave the fees considering my children's insurance was not active until today so why on earth would I have brought them Friday? Soo.. The fees were waved, and I paid $300+ for both of my daughter's glasses. I left and waited for the call to come pick them up. Two weeks later when I went to pick them up I was told I COULD NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR UNTIL I PAID THE CANCELLATION FEES!! I was so disgusted and shocked. Both pairs of glasses BROKE with in 2 months. Terrible people. Money making scam. Doctor chicka is a horrible person as well. Till this day (1 1/2 years after) they are still calling my phone leaving messages telling me my children have automatic appointments. I have the messages saved. They can't even pronounce my children's names!!! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUISNESS!!! I urge you too look somewhere else. I took my children to Wal-Mart for their frames- came with warranty- glasses are still sturdy and Wal-Mart vision fixes any problems for free. I got both of my daughter's glasses for a combined total of $25 dollars and the service is excellent @ Wal-Mart in LaPlata.
Love Dr Chika. Very informed and caring. Staff lies on the face. Have schedules an appointment for my parents when I was there for my vision screening. Forgot all about it in a 12 hours long work day. I got a call past appointment time that they missed the appointment and there will be no show fees. I paid it right then over the phone but the lady lied that she called to remind. She never did. I hate to move my business away for the kind of doctor Dr. Chika is but can not do business where employees lie on your face.
We’ve been going for years! She’s taken great care of me and my kids and even has diagnosed them with other issues just by taking the time and care to thoroughly check their eyes.

You know the saying, "if I could give 0 stars I would!" ....this place actually dwarves deserves negative stars! HORRIBLE service. I called on to make an appointment and explained I wanted to have a contact eye exam. Since I have an astigmatism in my left eye the exam and contacts are usually more expensive. Knowing this I checked my benefits before hand and saw I was allowed to be charged up to $60 for an eye exam and the rest would be covered by my insurance VSP vision. When I spoke to Brandon tonmake my appointment he told me the contact fitting fitting (eye exam) would be $90 because I have an astigmatism. I told him that based on my insurance I only pay $60. I gave him my last 4 of my social to call and verify. I myself called and spoke directly directly to my insurance company to ensure I wasn't misinterpreting my benefits. They confirmed I should only pay $60. I showed up for my appointment early, filled out the paperwork and then was called to see the doctor. I was asked to pay $90.....I explained to the woman I spoke to Brandon and explained my coverage allows for only $60. I don't know the woman's name but she was an Asian woman....she told me insurance companies always say that but they don't pay. I explained that I had VSP before with a different employer and my benefits now are more comprehensive. I asked that she call and verify, she said she already verified my benefits when I made my appointment. I explained that there are exceptions to every situation and tried to appeal to her to contact my insurance. She refused and told me she has been doing this for 5 years and knows what she is doing. I was very upset, but never raised my voice...I did inform them that I would write a scathing review online. I left the office and then went to my car. I really needed contacts so I tried one last time to make it work. I called my insurance explained the situation and the rep offered to contact the office on my behalf. He called the office and explained my benefits but was told by the woman who I spoke with earlier that I would need to pay $90. She then put him on hold for about 10 minutes. I clicked back over to me and said she would not listen to him either. I asked to file a formal complaint against the office. I hopped in my car and drove to Visionworks. I was able to get a walk in appointment, contact fitting exam and glasses for $35! I was so skeptical because the ordeal I just had that I couldn't believe it! The rep at Visionworks explained that because I purchased glasses my exam was free, and my insurance pays for frames and lenses once a year so all I needed to pay was my copay. She showed me the breakdown of my charges, and it totaled $1,000....I only paid $35! If Chika Eye care would have bothered to verify my benefits they would have been able to make money on my glasses. This place is rude and unprofessional. I read the reviews and the negative ones fall in line with my experience. The positive ones, while the service may be fast, they work with you in regards to paying your bill....trust me, they're probably overcharging, I would at least price shop somewhere else. Shame on you Chika Eye care for getting business by being in an insurance's network of preferred providers but not actually providing the benefits as detailed in the insurance! Save yourself time, money and frustration.....don't go to this place!
