Dr. Traylor and his staff are great!!!

Felt rushed through the whole process, wasn't given all the facts. I had to pay extra for my lense which was fine, but wasn't told I had to pay an additional 20 that my insurance didn't cover, which I would have paid on the spot. Insurance didn't cover Progressives but if I could not wear the Tri focals they would see what they could do. I can't wear them and they won't return my calls

I have always loved bringing my children here for their exams. I have always had the best experiences loving sweet people gentle with my autistic kid and patient, but I was stunned the other day by the events I witnessed. One of their young workers was avidly helping this man with glasses he decided he didn’t like that his insurance wouldn’t do something and as she tried to explain this to him and he got incredibly irate with her. Eventually the office manager got involved and once she was filled in on the matter she immediately turned to the worker and scolded her for not giving this man the glasses when he hadn’t even paid for them. The poor worker looked confused and surprised. And I believe this man got away with free glasses or close to free. I couldn’t believe that a man as nice and respectable as Dr Traylor and Dr Shake would allow and condone their employees getting yelled at and cussed at by a patron. AND THE OFFICE MANAGER DIDNT EVEN BACK HER EMPLOYEE she threw her under the bus in order to save face with this idiot man who didn’t deserve to be waited on. They need to put their employees first if you don’t have happy employees you don’t have team work. The worst part was that after the office manager left the poor girl was told by another worker not to feel too bad that the rude man was not worth her time and the manager does this often. Very sad indeed

I had the start of a torn retina and was able to be seen on a Sat afternoon. After syptoms getting worse on Sun, I exchanged messages with Dr Shake that evening and he asked me to be at their office at 7:30 Mon morning to look at again. He confirmed it was worse and immediately sent me to a retina-specialist surgeon. By receiving such timely care by both providers, torn retina was able to be repaired with minimal invasion and not surgery! I am extremely thankful and grateful for the fantastic care I received! Thank you so much!!

I didn't get the glasses I thought I was getting. The doctor was great, then picking out glasses is where things went wrong. You should be able to speak clear English on something so important as eye glasses. Wrong lense came in. Reordered. I get a text telling me they are in. Nope! They didn't reset the auto notification. I was working in Princeton Indiana. Finally on my third trip, got my glasses. They are perfect.

The eye doctor was so sweet and patient with my son who didnt want to corporate..he made us feel comfortable and he listened to ever concern I had and explain everything to me, took his time with all the little tests he needed to do! Dr. Shake is an exceptionally knowledgeable optometrist and I am completely satisfied with the service I received during my late stay visit . He answered all my questions and even told me that my vision had not changed enough to warrant new glasses. I also was tested for glaucoma and examined for macular degeneration and it put my mind at ease to know that I have neither. The staff members I encountered were all friendly and helpful too! I’m glad to know I can trust Dr. Shake to tend to my visual health!

These folks are criminals. You will be given a test that you did not ask for, was not told about ahead of time, is not covered by insurance, and charged for when you leave. The reasoning I was given is that the doctor feels like it should be given to protect THEM from claims of something getting missed. You can "opt out" for future visits (or if you just happen to know about this in advance). This type of behavior is rampant in the medical community and needs to stop. Any organization that performs a test without prior consent and/or authorization from the patient and then expects you to pay upon leaving needs to be held criminally responsible for theft and malpractice. ** FOLLOW UP *** The response below continually talks about contact lens patients. I AM NOT NOR NEVER WAS A CONTACT LENS PATIENT. I was only there to have a regular eye exam. I may have signed a consent to have the test done but I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE ADDITIONAL COST NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. Has I been informed I would have denied consent to the test.This was discussed in depth over the phone and was agreed by your office that there was a "failure in communication" in your part. My wife and daughter however are contact lens patients. Recently my wife went to your office to pick up her prescription so she could order lenses through an online provider that was suggested by our insurance company. She was given the SIGNED prescription and placed the order only to have your office cancel the order without contacting us first. Then when my wife called she was told that she would have to come in for another visit to "confirm" the trial lenses she was given were correct. If that's the case then why 1) was she not informed of this when originally given the "trial" lenses? 2) was she not told this when picking up the prescription? 3) given a signed prescription that on your own admission was invalid? 4) not contacted prior to (or even after for that matter) your office rejecting the order? So many questions. Sounds to me like another scam to get yet another office visit fee out of your patients or will this once again be chalked up to a "failure in communication"? I hold true to my original statement (and believe the facts of my multiple visits speak for themselves) .... IN MY OPINION THESE FOLKS ARE CRIMINALS AT WORST AND SCAM ARTIST AT BEST. I can not speak for anyone else but I know that my family will never return to this "Doctor's Office" again. Fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice and I'm done with you forever.

Fabulous doctor, professional ,accurate, competent and kind. However...I called several times and left messages about my contacts which were supposed to be in within 2 weeks. No one called me back. Finally I called until the office manager answered the phone. She said the contacts had never been ordered. She said, “I’m just going to order them right now while I have you on the phone to make sure it gets done.” Really, that was a waste of my time. Also, she never apologized for the office mistakes. So down one star and almost down two!

Reception is always really nice. The providers always take their time with my kids and the support staff is always excellent. Due to the type of insurance we have there are very few frames that my kids are allowed to chose from. The last couple times we have come in there have not been any frames that would even fit my kids face. I would like to see a better selection of frames so that we can continue to come to Owensboro Family Eye Care.

Very dissatisfied, I am a current patient of Dr. Dave's Horton's and Owensboro Eye Care, my existing eyewear I purchased there 2 years ago $480 !! Recently returned for my exam which was $130 2weeks ago, I saw a set of frames that I liked, I ask permission to take them across the street to show a friend, and I literally mean across the street, they stated that I could not take them to show anyone, I cannot express how disappointing an experience this was, it's not like I'm not a patient of theirs, knowing full well I was going to spend $400-$500 again to order these new glasses.
