The staff are very friendly, and I experienced zero wait time. My appointment with Doctor Kirk was fantastic. I felt like Doctor Kirk really took the time to listen and understand what I needed, and was so helpful with explaining every option and providing detailed pricing information. I did not feel any pressure to make a purchase, Doctor Kirk seemed focused on solving problems and providing solutions. I will definitely be going here for all future eye exams.

I've been going here for a few years now and have always been satisfied. I've recommended them to a handful of friends and they've also had good experiences. Awhile back there was a billing issue (actually just a miscommunication/misunderstanding on my part) and they resolved it very quickly. I would recommend them to anyone.

Met this lady at the front desk who tried bullying me into paying upfront for a contact lenses fitting which my insurance clearly states that I would only need to pay for if they prescribe contact lenses out of the selection list. Poor service, not coming back. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Friendly and informative doctors and staff. This is a well-managed , one stop office...usually no waiting and easy appointment process. My new glasses were reasonable and convenient to fit and purchase. When it came time for cataract surgery, they booked my appointments with a great doctor and followed up post-surgery. The WHOLE staff at LFEC are "family" friendly. It had been a year since my last visit but everyone welcomed me by name and Dr Alan came out to welcome me himself. My 3 year old son was recommended by his pediatrician that he get an eye exam as he failed their exam in the office. We were recommended to Leawood Family Eye Care. The technician that ran the initial test was either an intern or just fresh out of school. He had no idea how to handle the natural tendencies of a 3 year old and it made running the initial test extremely difficult. Finally when Dr. Stacy Philips came in, she ran the same test. I was trying to help my three year old to focus on her so I got right behind her so he had someone to look at. She quickly snapped at me saying he needs to know who is in charge and quickly sat me down. However, 10 min she asked me to do the exact thing I was trying to get him to do in the first place. Secondly, the doctor did not give us detailed explanation on what was going on with my son's results. We were just told he needs glasses, and "well this isn't the worse case I have ever seen". Having to wear glasses every day is a big shock to parents especially when your kid is so young and knowing he may need to wear them the rest of his life. It was just so careless in what was shared with us and as a parent I was doing everything in myself to not cry. I walked away not fully understanding what was going on with his eyes and what this all meant. Just that my son had to start wearing glasses. Third their selection of kid glasses is very limited. The glasses we found were on back order for 3 weeks. We choose to go ahead and wait but then when they finally came in the lab kept scratching my sons glasses twice and took yet another 3-4 weeks. The office did state that they were changing labs because they had such terrible problems. I am writing this as Leawood Family Eye Care might be ok for older kids or adults, I cannot in good conscience recommend this office to anyone of a toddler or young child. I ended up sending his report to a friend of mine who is optometrist in California who stated that his prescription was incredibly strong for his age and she wouldn't recommend it for him. Which led us to feel like we needed another opinion which we ultimately did and had a vastly better experience. Update: While I still wouldn't recommend this practice for a young child, within the first hour of me posting this review, Dr. Philips had reached out to try to follow up and resolve my concerns. I felt she was genuinely sorry for the experience we went through.

Every time I go I have a great experience. We need more doctors like this! This is the best experience I have ever had visiting an optometrist. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They all seem to really like working there which makes the visit so much nicer. Dr. Kirk saw me immediately which is important to me since I have a limited time for these appointments and I so resent when most doctors think their time is more valuable than yours. Not Dr. Kirk, she's very thorough and explains things in an easy-to-understand manner. I couldn't recommend Dr. Kirk and the Leawood Family care higher. You'll be in very good hands with them. My daughter and I have seen Dr. Kirk for 2 years now. We are very happy with everyone at Leawood Family Eye care. My daughter is 8 and everyone made sure she was comfortable during her exam. Dr. Kirk treated her like any patient-talked directly to her, then asked me if an answer wasn't clear. She really listened to her and made sure she didn't feel bad when she couldn't read the line she asked her to. My daughter has a minor astigmatism. Last year, Dr. Kirk let us decide if we want to get glasses or wait it out. It wasn't bothering her much, so we waited. She gave us the option again this year and we decide to get glasses for her. They had a lot of frames to choose from in her size, it took us a while to decide because there were 4 really great pairs. My exam and ordering experience was just as great! I got a nice pair of glasses at a good price and was treated just as well as my daughter. A great place overall, highly recommend this office.

Today was the second time that I needed emergency care and Dr. Alan Phillips got me right in, within 20 minutes. I had something stuck up under my eyelid that I could not get out. It was so very painful and I had tried to get it out since 3 am. He wanted to make sure that he did a thorough job so he checked and rechecked and checked again. He found 2 small foreign pieces. Had he not been so thorough, I may have had to go back and that is why he is so patient, good and an exceptional Doctor. The last time was on New Year's Eve night four years ago and I was having a small retinal tare. He met my husband and I, at his office that night!!! He called to check on me on New Year's day as a follow up. What a fantastic Doctor and who does that any more? If you want the BEST, then you have come to the right place. I will be forever grateful for the level of professional service that he gave to me and I will always be a forever patient. Thanks again, for all that you do!
