Dr Berwold is great, as are the gals that work in the back. And the receptionists are also very nice. The wait however is not good at all. Was there for an hour and a half and I didn't even have the refraction done. I was told it was post op day.....no excuse, so I will never make an appointment on a Tuesday or a Thursday!

My eyes were dilated for the exam and after the dilation I was having a very difficult time seeing anything at all. I asked for eye drops to clear my eyes and was told they had nothing to reverse the dilation. I drive nearly 125,000 miles a year and that was the most frightened I’ve been behind the wheel for the drive home. The eye glasses staff never asked me if I wanted to look at glasses or order lenses. They just handed me my prescription and let me go.

Horrible experience at the eye care center . Becky the " Manager" is the most rude person I have ever encountered in any professional capacity.! Took months to FINALLY get my kindergartner glasses to the correct order. Becky kept blaming the mistakes on the place they order the glasses from. When that no longer worked she shifted the blame to me.and was INCREDIBLY rude . My son needs his glasses re fit but my experience there was horrible I can't stand the thought of ever taking him back there.

He consulted patiently with me to answer my questions as I was really nervous as to whether I wanted to take the chance. I have been thoroughly satisfied with the care, service and outcome of my experience with Dr. Grin, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Enright. I began services 3 years ago with Dr. Johnson for optometric services, including contact lenses and glasses. Dr. Johnson provided high quality services, but my astigmatism and cataracts became too difficult to correct any longer. I saw Dr. Grin for a cataract consult and decided to pursue surgery....and my vision is AWESOME!! I am completely thrilled with the outcome, choosing a toric lens implant in my dominant eye to FINALLY get rid of that astigmatism. As an avid tennis player, I was convinced I wanted distance correction in my non-dominant eye as well, but Dr. Grin gently advised that I consider a multi-focal lens. As a highly near-sighted individual most of my life, he advised that, in his experience, I would probably be happier if I maintained some near-vision capability. He was absolutely correct! I can now function most of the time with NO GLASSES, not even readers! I use reading glasses when I am doing some heavy reading, like the newspaper, a book or magazine. The office in Olathe is busy, but I have not had to wait an inordinate time for my appointments. The process seems to work, barring unforeseen circumstances. Everyone has been pleasant, welcoming and accommodating, always happy to explain procedures and services. I was also very happy with the surgical care at Olathe Medical Center, where I had both cataract surgeries.

My eye doctor is kind, informative, and straightforward when it comes to my eyes. The receptionist, Ali was incredibly kind to me and printed off my prescription (I had forgotten to bring it with me). On top of that, Don Howard helped me through the process of picking out the right glasses for me. He understood my needs completely when it came to my glasses and was a real pleasure to work with. I know exactly who I'll be seeing the next time I need my eyes examined, or when I need a new pair of glasses.

Dr. Wong is AMAZING!!! I had what they refer to as a “lazy eye”. I couldn’t see anything but shapes of shadows through this eye all of my life. I went to him for cornea problems. Last January he gave me a cornea transplant. I had had a cornea transplant in the other eye years ago. That eye worked on & off. The care before and after the operation was 100 times better with the eye that Dr. Wong did. Today I can actually SEE with this eye! I couldn’t believe it at first. You see, I am 69 years old and to finally see something out of that eye was pretty amazing! I’ve always been pretty skeptical of Doctors, but Dr. Wong has to be my all time favorite. He looks really young, but don’t let that fool you-he really knows what he is doing!

I have to provide an average for my rating. The doctors and technicians are top-notch. The receptionists, very much NOT. My husband & I had gone to Grin for more than 20 years. Last year, when I scheduled my annual appt, a representative from my insurance company offered to be on the call with me. I was puzzled, but said ok. Turns out that the insurance company had a lot of trouble with the front desk personnel not understanding that while their clients are insured with Cigna Healthspring, their eye care is through Superior Insurance. When the insurance rep explained it, a light seemed to come on for the scheduler and all was okay. Not so much this year. When I called to make my appt, I told them of the problems last year and asked if I needed to have an insurance rep facilitate the call with me. She checked my records and said no, it was okay because everything was in my records. When I went to keep my appt., I reminded the woman at the front desk who was checking me in of the insurance arrangement. She was rather sharp as she said yes, they knew that. Then she said they needed to update my records with my new ID card. Since I did not and never did have a Superior ID card, I handed her my Cigna Healthspring card and immediately, all hell broke loose with her getting quite loud about telling me over and over that they don't take Cigna Healthspring and angrily waving her finger at me and at a small, handwritten sign at a 90 degree angle to clients listing all of the insurance companies they don't accept. She wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain, so I asked her to look on the back of my card, which she was waving around quite dramatically, and call Cigna Healthspring. She refused to do so and kept going on about how they didn't take that insurance. She was so incensed that she ignored my requests to give me back my card and cancel my appt. Finally, she calmed down enough to hear me and handed me back my card. Then she asked me what I planned on having done. I asked her why she needed to know that. She said because Superior had told them that they okayed a routine eye exam for $40. I was so humiliated and embarrassed that all I wanted to do was get out of there. She treated me like I was some sort of a criminal. So even though she now was trying to convince me to take the appointment, I left. I called Cigna Healthspring from my car in their parking lot and discovered in addition to everything else, there should not have been any charges at all for a routine eye exam. I can understand that it's difficult for companies to keep up with all of the different insurance companies, but I don't think there was any excuse for that woman treating me so badly and refusing to call Cigna Healthspring as I requested that so do several times. Drs. Grin! You're good doctors and have a great reputation. Don't let the poor customer service and rudeness of your front desk personnel undermine your hard work! UPDATE: On 10/29, I received a text message plus an email from Grin "reminding" me of my appointment on Nov. 2. I did not schedule an appointment at the fiasco of Oct. 3. I replied Stop optout to the text message and clicked the unsubscribe button on the email. I also sent them two emails telling them that I did not schedule this appointment and to stop bugging me. Well, obviously, they pay no attention to requests to stop sending text messages to people or to requests to unsubscribe people from emails. I got another text message and email today "reminding" me of the same appointment. The person I talked to said that the appointment had been set last year after my appointment, and seemed to think that made it okay that they do not honor requests to stop sending text messages and emails to people.

Lost vision in my right eye on a Friday night. Called Saturday, left a message for the on call doctor. Dr. Emily Enright returned the call within 15 minutes and I met her at their Leawood office 30 minutes later. She looked at the eye, knew immediately what was going on and arranged for a specialist the following Monday. Surgery since then and vision has returned. So glad for Grin Eye Care and their professional & friendly personnel. Thanks Dr. Enright!
