Really lovely staff! I started going here a few years ago when I moved to KC, and I don’t have any complaints! It can be a little pricey, but worth it in terms of care. In fact, recently my brother was in town for a weekend but forgot his contacts. Thankfully Brill Eye Center was open Saturday morning so we could purchase a sample set of contacts. We appreciate it so much! Really saved the trip.

I initially scheduled an appointment at Brill Eye Care because I wanted a wide selection of designer and novel frames to choose from. They have one of the best in the KC area. Definitely worth the two hour drive. I also found something I wasn’t looking for. An answer to my chronic red eye issues. After extensive, informative testing and evaluation, I learned I have dry eye syndrome. I was able to have the LIPIFLOW treatment done the same day. Dr. Brill has placed me on a regimen that will maintain the single oil gland I have left in my left eye. I wish I would have scheduled an appointment will him 25 years ago. I have cautioned my children (all 30+ years old) not to ignore the red flags your eyes may send you. Throw out the Visine. Go see Dr. Brill. Now.

I truly had an extraordinary experience with Dr. Brill and his staff. I have MGD along with the most miserable blepharitis. I had also developed mild glaucoma due to steroid use. My eyes watered relentlessly and my eyelids were perpetually swollen, cracked, inflamed and itchy. It had become consuming and was negatively impacting my quality of life. My Ophthalmologist referred me to Dr. Brill as one of the few doctors that has the equipment and expertise to treat Dry Eye. I was impressed with the length of time Dr. Brill spent examining my eyes while educating me along the way. Dr. Brill prescribed a combo of meds that has completely transformed eyes. I'm pleased to report they look and feel better than they have in two years. I plan to get IPL in the near future, but for now I feel like I have my life back. Thank you so much! So, I'm not a patient of Dr. Brill, I'm a colleague. What I want Dr. Brill's patients to know from another eye doctor half way across the country is just how much effort he puts into his profession. He and I constantly discuss difficult cases and he is one of the few in the country I turn to when a case stumps me. If you are in need of a consummate professional, he is definitely your doctor. If he weren't so far away, he'd be my eye doctor.

This is my first online attempt at referring anyone to a place of business. The words are heartfelt and express my appreciation and gratitude for the help I received. For those of you doing close work and a lot of computer data entry, I'd like to recommend "computer glasses" from Brill Eye Center. Perry Brill went to great lengths to devise a pair of glasses for my type of work. Primarily, I manually input daily school attendance figures. I look down at each teacher hard copy spreadsheet (49 of them) then look up to input the hours into my computer, at times referring to a 15 minute increment time chart off in a corner to the right of my computer. These new light weight lenses have a larger area of sight for the close up and near distances I use in my work. Since my work area is about the size of a walk-in closet, it was decided to stay with a 5ft. distance range instead of a 10ft. range. My laptop sits on a desk shelf area that is against a wall with no line of sight beyond. The light weight frame my lenses are in adds to the overall feeling of not wearing glasses at all. I've worn these computer glasses long enough now to know I would not want to give them up! Brill Eye Center has friendly people wanting to make your experience a positive one as soon as you open their door and they go to great lengths to accomplish that end. Perry was instrumental in finding the right lens (a new type) for this challenge. Please contact them with your particular situation for an evaluation. I know it made a difference for me. My husband, Orville, and I have been clients of Brill Eye Center for many years now and this favorable new experience added to my desire to recommend them to anyone wanting quality eye care from employees concerned about one of our most precious assets.....our eyes. Was traveling to KC from another state and had an ophthalmologic emergency after being medically mistreated by a physician before my trip. His staff worked to get me an appointment asap and Dr. Brill provided the correct treatment to save my vision. Was such a great experience I even decided to get my annual vision exam done while in town. Everybody in this office is a pleasure to interact with.

Brill Eye Center has an incredible selection of outstanding frames to suffice all personalities and tastes! There is no need to shop multiple stores to find what you are looking for. They are constantly updating inventory with new styles and will gladly special order for personal requests. They also have a skill for helping you find what looks best to suit your features and lifestyle. I first visited this center in 2006. I have found that Dr. Brill, and his son Perry, take pride in their customer service and satisfaction, which has been the backbone of their business since 1995. Dr. Brill completes a meticulous exam, thoroughly explains results and outlines options for care. I again was in their office this morning for an exam and new glasses and found ongoing consistency in service and professionalism. I highly recommend this Center and rate it 5/5

I am a physical therapist in the KC area and came across Dr. Brill's website when researching what options there were for dry eyes. I have had dry eyes for as long as I can remember, including 20+ years ago when I was in high school. At that time, the eye doctor I was seeing recommended silicone implants in my tear ducts to help the tears stay on my eyes longer. I did this about 3 times, but had problems with them coming back out repeatedly. Over the last 20 years, I have gotten by with various eye drops and gels. I have tried about every brand possible, using them multiple times throughout the day, and a different gel that sat on the eye overnight. My symptoms were many including dryness, itchiness, burning, fatigued, and just overall irritation. The white parts of my eyes were typically bloodshot looking, no matter how much sleep I had. When I went to see Dr. Brill, I was impressed with the number of eye tests he performed in order to get the correct diagnosis. The technician explained what each tests was for and how my results turned out. He diagnosed me with "meibomian gland dysfunction" and recommended a procedure called LipiFlow. He discussed how this treatment should help my condition and gave me the information regarding the procedure and aftercare instructions. I will say I had to go home and think about it, and discuss with my husband, due to the price. I even called back to the eye clinic and asked additional questions before deciding. I eventually decided to go for it! On the day of the procedure I brought along an extra driver just in case, though she was not needed. The whole procedure lasted maybe 15 minutes (plus the check in and check out, and reviewing after care.) Immediately I noticed a difference in the fluid on my eye and the Dr. informed me what I was feeling was the oil from the glands being released. I couldn't believe I was supposed to be feeling that all the time! I followed the after-care strictly for 6 weeks until my first follow-up. At that time, and throughout the first 6 weeks, I continuously noticed improvements. When I woke up in the morning, my eyes felt great, I wasn't reaching for the drops on my nightstand. During the day, I wasn't having to put more drops in. When I got out of the therapy pool I worked in, they weren't burning. The white parts of my eyes were white again. At the 6 week check up, we modified which things to continue with, making it very manageable on a daily basis. Overall, I am very glad I went through with the procedure. I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Brill to see if this is the right procedure for you.

They sent me an email saying the contacts I ordered had been delivered then after standing there while they looked for them for another 30 minutes they decided they didn't have them. Dr. Brill takes the time to listen to my concerns year after year and provides a great experience. I brought my kids this year for their eye exams, and Dr. Brill provided an amazing experience, explaining to them their prescription and showing them the way their eyes work. I have worn glasses since second grade. I've been to many optometrists. Of them all, Dr. Brill gave me the most thorough eye exam I've ever had. Further, he did not even prescribe new glasses or contact lenses, but recommended cataract surgery and lens implants for the best chance for improved vision. We could not have been more impressed with the help we received from Perry Brill as he kindly fitted two of my children for glasses, including a squirmy 15 month old! The staff at Brill Eye Center helped me out on very short notice. I had irritation in my left eye and they were able to see me in an hour's time on the same day. They prescribed me the eye drops I desperately needed to start feeling better and even called my pharmacy multiple times to ensure I received the medication I needed. The next day they got me updated lenses for my frames since I couldn't wear contacts. I cannot thank them enough for helping to spare me from red, irritated, watery eyes that I would have been suffering from overnight. Brill Eye Center is the best!!!

Went in for an exam, they are very thorough here, the Dr. examined my eye and found a very small piece of something on my eye. He removed it right there. DRY EYES? I had the LIPIFLOW procedure 1 month ago and so far... LOVE it!!! I have dealt with EXTREME dry eyes since lasik surgery 15+ years ago. I am from a small Midwestern town where local eye doctors do not tell you about you about the Lipiflow procedure (...wondering if they even know about it). One day I was in so much pain and suffering from dry eyes, I decided to google, praying there would be something new I hadn't heard of. I found BRILL EYE CENTER in Mission, KS and decided to trust them and the procedure without knowing much about either. With this SIMPLE procedure, I was AMAZED!!!! Things I could never do, like sitting under or near a ceiling fan.... I went to my son-in-laws house that afternoon, who always has a ceiling fan running & I actually sat under the ceiling fan on low speed. Again ... AMAZED!!! During this past month things have been so much better, I can hardly believe it, I have been able to sit under ceiling fans, AC vents in restaurants, enjoy being outdoors, having the AC vent on me in a vehicle, etc. The only side effects of my procedure are... I must follow doctors orders, ha ha, which mine consist of ..."blinking exercises", wearing a mask at bedtime and heating my eyes twice a day, I figure that is not too much to ask for to get relief from these agonizing past 15+ years, due to lasik surgery. I go back for my check up in a couple weeks. Hoping the doctor says everything is looking GREAT for continued success, as "they" say the procedure should last around 3 years. Not only has this Lipiflow procedure been great for me, it has also been great for my friends and family members whose lives were affected by my dry eyes. I will DEFINITELY do this procedure again if the need arises! Hope you too can find some relief from your dry eyes.

I love this place... Feels like instant family. Every member of the staff spends as much time with you as needed. I never feel rushed, like I'm just another customer. I spent over 2 hours there (my own doing) and could've spent more! Was right in for my eye exam, then spent a long time picking out my glasses with Rachel, who is AWESOME! She clearly let me take as long as I needed and gave very, very helpful recommendations. Additionally, she watched my budget even making suggestions on products and lenses to LOWER my cost... I don't know much about eye care and cost, so could've been easily "taken" if I went to a place who didn't care as much as Brill does. Even when I went back to pick up my glasses, everyone had time to chat, no one rushed me out. It's just a nice place to be. On top of all that, their technology and checkups are top notch - I definitely trust my eyes with Brill Eye Center. Oh...one last thing... Rachel gives one heck of a Thriller rendition - make sure to ask for that!

have had the worst customer service ever experienced from Brill Eye Center. I had gone to him for several years and purchased expensive prescription glasses each time.This year, I purchased a new pair of glasses for over $1100. After picking them up, I had trouble seeing so I alternated my old glasses with the new ones. The new glasses fell apart and I put them back together. I took them back a week later and was told to come back the next day. I went back and was told there was a dispensing error and they should not have been dispensed to me. I asked for special monetary consideration because of their error and was told I had to speak to the doctor. I received a call the very next day and was told to come pick up my glasses as they were ready. I called to find out how they could be totally wrong one day and "fixed" the next. I spoke with Debbie, the office manager and told her I had no intention of picking up those glasses until I heard from the doctor and they were correctly dispensed. Long story--but he refused to refund my money-- I had to dispute it on my credit card. Then the doctor said he mailed the glasses to me and I never received them. I finally got a refund from my credit card company and got better glasses at a much lower price through another provider. I would not waste my time with him again. All he wants to do is sell you stuff like glasses and vitamins. The front end of the office is dedicated to optical where I assume he makes the majority of his money. He even divulged private information from my records trying to discredit me with the postal service. His office does not believe in customer service and their record keeping is shoddy at best.

I live in Central America (Panama), and after one year of seing many oftalmologist and get mis-diagnosis and not a clear undertanding of what was causing my problem of dry eyes, I look for someone to help me in the US and came across with Brill Eye Center, Dr Brill and Courtney. They were really helpful and nice answering all my question and taking the time to deeply understand what was causing my dry eyes. They performed several test on my eyes and explained what could have been causing it, they checked my glands and found out I was a good candidate to perform Lipiflow procedure to unclog my glands. It’s been one week, I am still recovering and following up all their indications to improve my condition. I used to enjoy going to Dr. Brill's office for an eye exam. But it seems they have a completely new staff. I Really had liked the other optical staff. The new male gentlemen wasn't very pleasant. Not helpful at all. Wouldn't smile, was very serious. Almost angry at times. He made me feel like I was a bother. I don't think he wanted to be there. Kept thinking he might be having a bad day. But If so, he shouldn't ever take it out on a customer. Shouldn't be interacting with customers at all as far as I'm concerned. They really should reevaluate their staff.

I apologize in advance that this review is long but... you should know the details and the reason for my rating. Buying eyewear for myself has always been a bit of a struggle for a few reasons. Setting aside my fashion taste, I have an odd prescription. I am a Broadcast VideoJournalist. So my eyes are my livelihood. I am discerning and acutely aware of any aberration in my lenses. You could say picky I guess. Because of this; buying anything eye related over the internet is out of the question. While out shooting a story I ran across Brill Eye Center. While there I noticed the variety of frames. The selection was impressive. Since I was in the market for a new prescription I went back and ended up buying two pairs, a daily and a backup. ***What to expect when you go to Brill.*** The most important thing is... Have Dr Brill do your eye exam. He’s good at what he does. While Brill Eye will take a prescription from another optometrist; in my case not all eye exams are created equal. The brand new prescription I walked in with was wrong and only when my first pair of glasses came back did we find out. Save yourself the headache. Dr Brill was thorough, spent the extra time necessary and, took extra steps to make sure my rx was spot on. When you first walk in, you’ll be struck by the number of frames they have at different prices. I am definitely a fan of their selection. It’s a very low key environment. There were no pushy sales associates in my face as soon as I walked in. What I noticed tho was once engaged, the sales associates interest in making sure that getting what was best for me, from frames to lenses was his main objective. I worked with Perry. He was very knowledgeable and extremely courteous. He asked quite a few questions about lifestyle, work and what I needed most out of a pair of glasses. Unfortunately for me fashion and functionality don’t always go hand in hand and there’s always a hiccup. Lens thickness etc... I also seem to gravitate towards the more expensive frames even if I have no idea of the brand. Like I said, sort of... I am picky. I decided to buy a pair of bespoke frames made by LINDBERG. If you make the same choice as I did; DON’T EXPECT your frames that day or even in two weeks. It takes about a month and it could be the full month. LINDBERG frames are made in Denmark and personalized for you. Unfortunately for me and my original RX, a significant amount of additional time was added. It was a full two months. So be forewarned if you walk in with a prescription from somewhere else. The second pair of frames, Silhouettes took about 10 business days. With my purchase; Brill’s attention to detail, communication and final quality inspection are well above par. Also, even tho there were a few hiccups along the way(not Brill’s fault), Brill stood behind their product. They made sure that I was happy before they let me leave. In my book this is a win.

The Real Tootsie

Scamy! I arrived 10 minutes early but didn't actually see the optometrist for an hour after my appointment time. Shame on me I just assumed an eye exam for a contact lens RX and glasses RX would be under $200 from every other experience I've ever had in 40 years of eye doctors. My previous optometrist charges $154 for an exam that includes prescriptions for both. Halfway through the exam the optometrist steps out and the assistant said she needed me to review the charges for today and I have to sign. Not at the beginning, but in the middle while you are trapped in the chair and you've already been examined and you feel locked in. Their charges were $487 for exam and the two RX papers. No glasses, no contacts, $487 for the exam and 2 pieces of paper. I said wow I had no idea you were this high priced. The assistant said our prices are comparable with other places. No you are triple the price of other places! They wanted to sell me overpriced contacts and glasses but I just wanted to leave after being there 2 hours and already completely ripped off. Brill told me that I "wouldn't be able find proper fitting glasses on my own because one of my ears is further from the brim of my nose than the other ear." What? They never measured my ears! "If you buy frames online they are made in China." Where do you think Oakley's are made? After paying for the exam I asked twice for my prescriptions and still was only given the one for glasses. I had to ask a third time for them to bring me the contact lens prescription they were trying to withhold so I'd have to buy overpriced contacts from them. I had just been there two hours, paid triple the going rate for an exam, and now they were playing hide the prescription. The assistant actually said, "Oh you wanted your contact lens prescription too?" I've asked 3 times for it and why wouldn't I want what I just paid for? It’s like they are coached on how to shake you down. When I got home I measured the distance between each ear and the brim of my nose out of curiosity...I am happy to report both ears had the exact same measurement to my nose. I'm just fine, but Brill is full of bs.

A little more expensive then your regular eye exam and also the atmosphere was a little stuffy. However I got an extremely good eye exam and ended up with a prescription and contact brand that gave me better sight and was more comfortable then I have ever gotten in the past going to multiple optometrists. I plan on going to Brill eye care in the future.

The staff at Brill Eye Center helped me out on very short notice. I had irritation in my left eye and they were able to see me in an hour's time on the same day. They prescribed me the eye drops I desperately needed to start feeling better and even called my pharmacy multiple times to ensure I received the medication I needed. The next day they got me updated lenses for my frames since I couldn't wear contacts. I cannot thank them enough for helping to spare me from red, irritated, watery eyes that I would have been suffering from overnight. Brill Eye Center is the best!!!

I had a great experience at Brill Eye Center! I am a very difficult person to find the right prescription for due to irregularities with my corneas. My glasses in the past had never been perfect in terms of being the appropriate prescription. Dr.Brill, however, went above and beyond and determined that my corneas are irregular due to having a condition called Forme Fruste Keratoconus. He then got me the perfect prescription despite my condition and I can now see better than I ever have. Not only that, but his son Perry Brill went above and beyond to fit me with the correct frames that best matches my style and facial features. I would recommend Brill Eye Center to anybody!

I'm an artist and a writer. That means two things. I need to see small things and I need to touch beautiful objects. My frames came from Optika in Canada. Deb Perry is a lens nerd. She clued me into the importance of finding an eye center that new as much as she did.Through a process of elimination I arrived at Brill Eye Center. Perry handled all our questions with grace, good humor and depth. I was nervous when I arrived to pick up my specs. Would the quality match the outlay on my credit card? I'm not a famous artist, or a famous writer. Yet. I don't spend money unconsciously. The quality would have to exceed my expectations or I'd have second thoughts, along with a second pair of glasses. Deb has really great frames. I bought two pair. The quality of the lens exceeded my expectations. The Brill Eye Center attention to detail was worth every penny. The quality shines through the super thin, very clear, exceptional surface of the lens inside my super fabulous eclectic frames from Optika. Deb and Perry make a "great pair."

They are super friendly and helpful, but be prepared to be here for HOURS if you intend to buy glasses. Seriously, my spouse was there for 4 hours for a simple eye exam and glasses. I had to leave after 3 hours without ever having a pair picked out. I ended up just getting my prescription and ordering through an online retailer. Worth noting that we are both very happy with our new glasses.

I went to Brill with a prescription from my neuro-opthamologogist and had a great experience ordering new glasses. When they arrived, I couldn't see through them. I went back to my doctor and they found their error. Brill Eye Center re-made the lenses for free! But I still couldn't see through them. Dr. Brill gave me a full eye exam and came up with a third prescription...which works! I had a great experience with this company-even though things didn't go smoothly. I am a 68 year old male who has been a patient of Dr. Brill for over 20 years. I have been completely satisfied with the quality of his treatment and service. He goes overboard to ensure everything is right. I was extremely farsighted, and getting the correct lenses could sometimes be a challenge. A few years ago I had a problem with my insurance. They used only one lab that could not make the lenses to Dr. Brill's specifications. After trying three times for them to get it right, Dr. Brill had my lenses made in-house to correct specifications at no charge. This is an example of the quality of service I have learned to expect from Dr. Brill. Recently he referred me for cataract surgery. He coordinated with the surgeon to ensure that my desired options were clearly communicated prior to surgery. The surgeon he referred me to was excellent. I came across Dr Brill quite by accident I was looking online at an eyeglass brand and Dr Brill was one of the preferred providers. I stopped in to check out the line of glasses and once there Perry helped my with my request and he took the time to show me some other frames and set up an appointment for me with Dr Brill. I am one of those people that puts things like eye exams off until my glasses are so worn out it is a struggle to see through them. My wife and I had a trip planned and once on the plane she took a look at my glasses and told me "you need new glasses"! I told her once home I had made an appointment and would be getting it done. I did my research on Dr Brill and found that he has an excellent reputation and is an innovative and accomplished Doctor! My appointment was February 10th and Dr Brill was everything I had hoped he would be. In fact he noticed that I had an eye infection and fully explained the treatment which I have already scheduled. His diagnosis of my vision was very complete and thorough. Perry had some frames ready for me to look at in fact many of the frames they offer I have never seen before. I found the perfect ones and and am excited to get them. In conclusion, I have found our new eye doctor and have decided regular check ups are a must! I encourage you to schedule an appointment with Dr Brill your eyes are just too important to trust them with just anybody!

I failed to ask about their prices before I saw Dr. Brill. That's my own fault. So, I would highly recommend asking before you have your appointment. Their services might be outstanding - but they are way outside of my price range. I basically threw away $250 for an eye exam that I can't do anything with. It was a very thorough exam, I admit, but again, unless I pay their prices, I have absolutely nothing to show for the money I spent. Just posting this so consumer can be aware and make informed choices. Because I forgot to.

I took my daughter to Brill for new glasses. She gets 1 free pair of glasses per year through United Healthcare. After her exam, they proceeded to try to convince us that my daughter may like contacts instead of the glasses. United does allow us to get free contacts, but the price for replacement lenses($200) was ridiculous and my daughter just wanted new glasses. She found some frames she liked out of a very small selection, we were it would take be about 7-10 working days for them to come in. That was 3 weeks ago, I have had to call them 3 times and every time I was given an excuse for why they hadn't been received...ex: order was placed a week after her appointment, frames arrived with wrong left lens. I called them this morning, sat on hold for several minutes, when the technician finally picked up the phone, he apologized for making me wait, told me my daughter's glasses were finally in and that a message was left on our home phone voice mail yesterday. We have not received any messages on our home phone, but I did get a voice mail on my cell phone last week stating my daughter's contacts were in; contacts we NEVER ordered. The staff was decent enough, but the receptionist was rude. I will not be taking my daughter back to Brill after this experience.

There are many better practices out there - go elsewhere. When a quick Lasik follow up takes 2 hours (1.5 of which was spent waiting), you're in the wrong place. When Dr Brill finally did see me, he went on to tell me how little insurance pays him and how expensive it is to buy a new "machine". Actual exam 5 minutes; 5 minutes spent with the Optometric Assistant; 20 minutes of hearing Dr Brill rant. That's why I'm no longer a patient in that practice.

The staff/manager/owner clearly sets the judgemental, unfriendly tone ytollu find upon coming here... If you enjoy burning your hard eared money, go here. The lady behind the counter was offended when i started asking about price. She just wanted my insurance info and tried to usher me to the back to get started with my exam... Wait a minute... How much will this end up costing me after my insurance pays and what are my options?? As i seemed to be a bother she finaly got off her fat, rude ass and showed me. They had one pair. One! And, they were orange kids glasses. And, that didn't include all the extra's that i would just "have to have"... The pair i wanted would have ended up costing about 450. After insurance!!! What a crock. Dont get me wrong, its a nice place, and if you have the money, by all means, knock yourself out. But me, i opted for a pair that are better looking and very well built. For 75 bucks including exam. With light weight lenses and uv blocker. Received them in one day. Thanks visionworks.

When I went for my appt the staff was professional and courteous and the appt went smoothly. It has been 2 weeks since my appt and I still had not received a call about my glasses coming. I called the center and they said my order wasn't placed until a week after my appt. That was a little upsetting as I have to wait another week now, even after I have already paid for them. I have never had to wait almost a month to get glasses in. Would recommend, but don't go if you need your glasses right away.

Superb people servicing with a smile who have experience and knowledge about their eyewear products. I come in with questions and I never leave without answers (or more questions). I currently live in OK and to this day go there today because of service, equipment, personnel, and having no issues. So why would I change? Worth the trip up to KC every 6 or so months.
