Currently this business gets a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 and the score is based on 180 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is almost the top, and it's founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the assessment is very reliable. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they are happy with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to give evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Ophthalmologist is classified in the category of Ophthalmologist.
Very thorough examination. Office staff are knowledgeable and polite. They even fixed my glasses when I lost a screw in them. Dr. "G" is a no holds barred woman who really knows her stuff. I felt confident about her exam and prognosis. I highly recommend Whitson Vision.
Poor-fair is being way too generous. On September 18th I took my son in and we both had our annual exam. I also had a contact exam. We paid for the contact exam and told them we would be back in a few days to pick out our glasses since their shipment wasn't in yet. We went back 2 days later, picked out the frames and went home. I got a call from them saying that my insurance has kicked back my claim because there was already one made under my name. They told me I needed to fix it in order to get the glasses. Long story short, spoke to the insurance company and found out THEY (Whitson Vision) filed my contact exam under my insurance, the same exam I paid for in the office. EVERY time I call to get some kind of answer, I get told by Polly that she is on it and she'll call their claims dept to see if it has been resolved then she'll call me back. SHE HAS NOT CALLED ME BACK ONCE! I have to keep calling her. Tomorrow it will be December 1st and I still don't have my glasses, I don't have contacts which they wanted me to pay for after all the BS their office has pulled. I will be filing a fraud claim with my insurance company if I do not have my glasses in my hand before December 18th. 3 months waiting for their mistake to get resolved is crap.
No complaints here. Doctor explained when I had a question. The pricing on the glasses was much better than in the past!
I have been doctoring with Dr Whitson since 1994 and have always had top notch care! They have always took excellent care of my eyes and that is saying a lot with all the trouble I have with them! Would recommend this office to anyone wanting excellent eye care!!
The wait time is extremely long, over two hours from check in to check out. I was told it is routinely like that. The front desk people are not pleasant. the technician do not pay attention to detail when confirming orders. I called to change something and they didn’t change it and I received the wrong thing. The glasses selection is decent and the people that work with the glasses are very nice and helpful. In fact they are the only positive thing I have to say about this place.
Dr. Colon has been very thorough and helpful in examining my eyes and treating my dry eye condition. Highly recommended!
The whole staff was very courteous. The doctor was experienced, honest and knows what he was doing.
Very happy with my visit. Nice and professional.
I'm normally very anxious to go to the doctor's, but Dr. Grelle was really amazing. She even took the time to research a lesser-known chronic condition I have and how it could be impacting my vision. I've not had a doctor from any specialty take the time to do that, and it really meant a lot that she cared enough to do that. She listened carefully to every concern without making me feel rushed. I wouldn't go to any other doctor/office for my vision.
The reception team always greets me well and I'm seen in a timely manner. I've had nothing but the best care from my doctor at Whitson Vision in Avon. (Never been to the other location)

We are so blessed to have Whitson Vision in Avon. I have multiple eye problems and had to have a surgery/shunt implant for glaucoma Midwest Eye Institute and have been having odd vision problems ever since. Dr. Alicia Groves and the entire staff are magnificent and thanks to them I am beginning to get to the bottom of my issues. My husband also sees doctor Colon who is fantastic for anyone who has retinal issues.
Great service! Dr Eve Grelle is very kind and genuinely cares.
Love Whitson Vision. They take there time with you and listen to all of your concerns. They were very patient with my daughter and caring after dilating her eyes for the very first time. Did not rush us.
I'm a relatively new patient here but I've been 4 times for an eye problem. Dr Colon is the best!! He's so thorough and a really nice guy. I feel like my eyes couldn't be in better hands. He'll be doing my cataract surgery soon. I've read other comments and I haven't had anywhere near the bad experiences that a few others have. I've never waited more than 10 minutes in the main waiting area and never more than 20 in the second waiting area. The entire staff is pleasant and some are really friendly. I've seen Dr Colon 4 times now, 3 at Avon and 1 at the other location. He's ALWAYS been professional but nice. He even talks "small talk" while he's getting my file up on the screen. After he does his exam and is done dictating to his assistant he looks right at me and explains in layman's terms what he saw, what the problem is and how we're going to address it. I've also had the office call me back a couple of times for things.
Dr. Grove was personable and thorough; my vision was discussed and all questions were answered.
The doctors here are extremely rude and stuck up. I'm never going back. I went in for three contact adjustments and still have trouble seeing. DO NOT GO HERE! The doctors talk to you like you are an idiot who doesn't know anything and they give you options but if you pick the one they don't want they tell you that you can't do it. Biggest waste of money ever. I would much rather go to the eye center at Walmart atleast they know what they are doing.
Dr Grelle is great! Knowledgable, professional, and kind.
My appointment was in January. From the moment they sat me in the chair, they gave me several sheets of paper containing the cost for procedures. As I was trying to read and understand the information before signing, the lady asked me to hurry and sign it and read it later. [...] After receiving the eye exam, I was asked for the numbers imprinted in my contact lens box which I did not have with me at that time. So they asked for my previous optometrist's phone number to get the contacts specs they needed. Later on I found out the doctor did not take my eye measurements. The contacts that I was currently wearing were my last and over a month old, and I kindly asked for a spare while waiting for the new contacts to arrive. Without even checking for availability, the doctor said that there was no way possible they had spares of every brand or measurement available for every patient. [...] So I waited for two weeks and called to see if my contacts were ready to pick up, but instead I found out that my order was still sitting on their desk and nothing was done on it. I did not complain at that point and the lady said they will re-do the order and let me know when it is ready for pick up, which usually takes about a week. I waited for two more weeks and called but no one answered. I left several messages and never again heard from them. So I called my vision insurance provider and cancelled the contacts order and only paid for the eye exam. I do not recommend their business to anyone.
It was very busy, long wait, almost 2hrs, however it was worth the wait. I’ve been a patient for quite a few years and will stay!
Dr. Colon is an Outstanding eye doctor. He listens, reacts appropriately, and makes suggestions to help with whatever your particular problem is. A fine man and excellent Doctor.
The physicians and staff of Whitson Vision are second to none. I have been a patient of Dr. Whitson and Dr. Grove for many years and have ALWAYS been treated with immense kindness and respect. Their expertise is noteworthy. I trust their recommendations and treatment plans and have always come out a winner. I had four eye surgeries in the past year and was in extremely capable hands both in the OR and in follow-up. They are the best!!!
Very friendly staff and short wait. Great experience overall.
Dr Colon was great at explaining the issue I am having and giving me a plan to fix it. He was thorough. All of the staff was friendly and took time to answer all my questions.
The staff was very professional and so friendly. My son was nervous about his first official visit to the eye doctor and they were so patient with him and explained everything ahead of time. It was a wonderful experience. Dr. Grove was so nice and helpful.
Dr. Colon is an exceptional physician. The staff is very warm and professional. I always feel comfortable and at ease when visiting for my eye care.
Good doctor and staff Good treatment Thank you
Very nice facility. Staff was friendly and efficient. Very short waiting time before my appt. Dr Grove was awesome. She explained how my healing was progressing and what to expect over the next 5 week.
Dr. Snyder was thorough, listened to my concerns, asked questions to fully understand my issues, conducted a number of tests to diagnose the problems, and fully explained my condition in terms I could understand. A smooth process from start to finish.
I am extremely happy with Dr Snider. I had a retina detachment and was seen right away. Dr Snider referred me to a Surgeon and I was seen the same day. They repaired my detachment which saved my sight. I would recommend Whitson Vision for anyone who to anyone who wants quality care. The office staff is always so friendly and professional.
Dr Colone and the entire staff are friendly and treat you as their only case. I highly recommend Whitson Vision, his staff and Dr Colone!

My wife is an invalid and appointments at Whitson Vision are very difficult for us, especially when the wait in the office is long. This appointment was the best we have ever experienced in your office. We were taken in immediately. Both …

Outstanding care! The technicians are professional yet friendly. Dr. Colon is professional and thorough with examining the eye health and explaining what he sees. I love this group of professionals and would trust no other with the care of my eye heath needs.
Many questions answered. Very thorough eye exam. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Recommend their service to family and friends.
I love Dr Colon. He's always smiling. Very knowledgeable with an amazing bedside manner
After some thought, I am editing my review. Dr. Colon, please take a moment and have some respect for your patients. I realize this may not mean much to you, but it should. I am also a physician, but my position should not differ in how you treat your patients. It should, however, give you some perspective on who your patients are and how your treatment (or lack thereof) affects them. Today I had an entire afternoon devoted to a single appointment with you. I cancelled many of my own patients who were waiting to see me because I thought my eyecare was important. I arrived at my 2 pm appointment early, because I always appreciate it when my patients are "on-time." I filled out several pages of paperwork that could have been completed ahead of time, if I had been given the opportunity to do so ahead of time. I wasn't given this opportunity. I was called back to see, well, somebody. She was nice, but never introduced herself or gave her title. I was asked several medical questions, most of which I had written responses to on the paperwork I filled out moments before, but were, apparently, ignored. I was asked if I had any questions for "the doctor," and I responded that I was wondering if I could purchase a refill on more disposible contact lenses. "No," I was told, "Dr. Colon doesn't write for these, you will have to schedule another consult with someone who can do an eye exam." I replied that I thought that was why I was here today, but she replied no. She instructed me to remove my contact lenses (thus rendering me effectively blind), and after administering dilating drops escorted me (blind) to another waiting room. I sat in this waiting room (blind) for the next two hours. I asked a few times when I would be seen, and was told at least three times, "Oh, you are next!" Several people then were seated, then were seen before me. I was then placed into an exam room and told I was next to be seen. I then listened as you entered the adjacent room and held an entire consultation and conversation with another patient. After over two hours of my sitting blind, you quickly entered, did not intoduce yourself, but instead told me to sit down as you again left the room. When you reentered I was already putting my contact lenses back in. I apologize that I was visibly angry at this point, but I think any reasonable individual would be. I do not look for any special treatment, but I cannot imagine why I would pay you for your rude, inconsiderate treatment. If I treated a patient this way I would be ashamed, and so should you. I apologize for being angry with your staff, as they rely on you and look to you for guidance. I would hope Dr. Whitson would contact me do discuss this further. You do him no favors in your treatement of patients.
Doctor is very thorough and patient, could be a 5 if patient was updated to delays to their appointment due to emergency walk ins or simply running late
Would have given 5 stars because I really appreciate Dr. Colon. He is friendly and thorough. On this visit, however, I had to wait over 30 minutes to be called initially, and then had to wait again to see the Doctor. Never happened to me before!
A great visit very thorough
Pleasant, always willing to explain and help find the best price for glasses.
Check in, waiting time minimal, visits are quick as possible, wonderful staff very kind and caring.
Awesome experience with an extremely knowledgeable and polite staff!
Usually a significant wait in lobby... however, may not always be the case.
I got a very thorough exam. She explained her findings and asked if I had questions!
Amazing practice, dedicated staff, exceptional experience.

The people are great, but I think they tend to overbook their appointments, wait times typically 2-3 hrs at least.
Great Service and Dr. Groves always does a great job and takes her time doing the exam.
The doctors here always do a great job!!! I will be back
Dr. Grove is excellent!
Nice place long wait times no handicap accessible equipment to help handicap people out no safe chair to put them in for pictures of their eyes so no they are not for the handicap
I felt comfortable with Dr. Grove and she answered my questions. The rest of the office was very nice too. I would recommend very highly.
On time and friendly
My appointment was on time and everyone was very friendly.
I really appreciate the thorough exam you have given to me.
Takes time in waiting room between the testing and seeing the doctor.
My entire family sees Dr Groves. Very patient. Very compassionate. She makes going to the eye dr not so bad! Front staff are very helpful and friendly! I love the honesty in the optical glasses area! They tell you their opinion if you ask them!
I’m a new patient in 2019. Very friendly and communicative staff. I highly recommend Dr. Grelle.
At the end of the appointment she let me know what was going on
