REVIEWS OF Ossip Optometry IN Indiana

My husband has been coming for a few years now and recently we took our children after having eye exams at school that gave some concern and requires follow-up. Dr Shah is great. Super knowledgeable and very good with kids. My daughter ended up being fine but my son needed glasses. The staff members were very friendly and helpful through the process of picking frames and checking out. They assisted in getting in for a fitting once the glasses came in. The glasses arrived earlier than they told me which was super. All around we have always had wonderful experiences at the Southport Ossip.

I arrived 4 minutes late and was told I needed to reschedule my appointment. That is absolutely unacceptable to be a minute late at 4:00 pm on a work day. You just lost a lifetime customer

Lance Hagler

Very knowledgable and thorough staff with all of the latest equipment and procedures. I highly recommend this office.

Chris Kochanek

Very unorganized and assistant staff do not label trial boxes correctly causing me vision problems. Doctor was nice but support staff or front office staff very disappointing. I will not be a returning patient.

The Who Are you

The doctor I had was okay. Other than that, terrible experience. Pay in advance for glasses that haven’t come in in 3 weeks and with no update. I’ve called twice looking for them and get Jr. high caliber customer service I don’t know’s

We took our son to the Ossip on Averitt Road on Saturday June 29th for a suspected scratched cornea. We arrived at 8:00 to find out that they do not have a Dr. on call on Saturday’s. This was not posted on their website. They called the Ossip on Emerson at 8:05 to see if the Dr. that was working on Saturday would be able to fit him in. After being put on hold for more than 10 minutes the office staffed told us to drive over to Southport since it was medical and the Dr. would have to see us. This is only a 10 minute drive and arrived at the office on Emerson Ave. at 8:25. There was 2 cars in the parking lot. The Dr on call and one of the reception workers. After waiting in their waiting area for over 35 minutes they came back and said that the earliest he would be able to be seen would be 11:30. The Dr never came out to assess the situation. There was still only 2 cars in the parking lot and no one waiting in the reception area. After this experience I would never use Ossip. We were able to call Lanter and they were not only professional on the phone they were respectful of our time and was able to see him in a very short amount of time. Also, we were headed out of town and the Lanter office connected us with an optical office near the location of where we were staying. This office went above and beyond and we are very grateful for such caring individuals.

Amazing staff and incredible environment! Beth was inviting when I came in and Dr. Flora along with the rest of her team really know what they're doing.

Billing is reluctant to bill Medicare, but eventually will. Doctors & receptionist friendly & great. Dr Flores is fantastic doc. Checks eyes thoroughly & explains everything. Does not hesitate to refer u to Specialist if needed.

Nancy Rugenstein

Very friendly.. Dr Flores was very good. Explained everything to me and when I asked questions she took her time to answer. Did get glasses there..little expensive..but they are guaranteed. Went to another place a yr ago and they gave me the wrong prescription..every time I went back to tell them all I got was..your eyes have to adjust. . ossip will be my place now.... I can see!

Keith Jones

Dr. Shah does great work here.

I went in for a routine eye appointment, price was set for the eye exam. After the service, I found out that no..that was for just a basic exam and that ALL the testing was going to cost extra! I then paid everything and told them to hold off on ordering my contacts (I was trying out a new pair), which they ordered AND billed to my insurance. (I ended up not liking the lenses, and went back to my original pair). I found out about the billed lenses about 6 months later when I received a bill for the remainder of the balance, and when I called was told that my lenses were in. (Nothing nasty, or rude, just mishandled my account.) I also received a call that I had to come in for a follow up (which was going to cost MORE on top of everything...) I had a few boxes of my old contacts left, so when I decided to order new lenses they refused to send out my prescription to another Dr. When I FINALLY get them to hand over my prescription they said "Whoops, too late...it's been a year and you need to come back in!" Just a lot of frustrating hoops that should have never happened.

Staff and doctor are always awesome! Never had any issues!

Carie Zaiser

The staff is very helpful and we always have a great experience. I have bought glasses from other place but they are not the same quality.

I went to Ossip in Fishers a couple years ago and got new glasses. The lenses had to be remade once because there was a logo in the lens right in the middle of my eye that apparently nobody at the office noticed. I really like Oakley glasses and Ossip takes my new insurance, so I thought I would try again at the Southport location. Big mistake! The eye exam went fine. The first time the glasses came in they were the wrong size and the lens was popping out of the frame. The second time the lenses were cracked when they came in. Apparently nobody looks at them when they come in. The third time they were sent out, the lenses were not properly in the frame. The fourth time they were cracked by the general manager who adjusted them without heating them up (plastic frames). I pick them up for the fifth time today and I hope that they are right. Ossip worked very hard to make sure things were right, so I gave 2 stars instead of 1. They need to find a new lab or clean house at the current one, just really bad quality. The lenses are supposed to be some of the best they have, Crizal 1.67 High Index.

The ophthalmologist was amazing, hence 1 stars, also 0 is not an option. That 1 star is for her alone. Literally every other aspect of how they do business is awful and the girls are borderline inept, even catatonic at times, unable to make any decisions on their own on printing receipts or swiping a credit card. God help us all, these 20 somethings and their incompetent ringleader....they are our future. I was charged for a contact fitting 6 wks before I was given my contacts. They charged for a future visit/fitting and initial exam, but never had any contact fitting. They said they called when they were delivered, but I never recieved a call. 1-800-Contacts and lens crafters only charge $150 for my gas perms - $75 per lens - but it's almost $150 extra through this provider - $150 PER LENS -Even though they are made by the exact same manufacturer. I have been wearing these same lenses and paying for them since I was 12 yrs old. 26 yrs and suddenly 1 lens is $150, but last year the PAIR cost $150. Not only that, they raised the cost of contacts so that the $105 paid by my insurance basically did not reduce any of the balance due. How they get away with staying in business when charging for fittings and visits that never happened while grossly overcharging for contacts is beyond me. I even told them to tell me the price, because I knew how much my contacts always cost. The Better Business Bureau is my next stop to file a complaint against Ossip. Just go somewhere else. These people sneak in extra fees and your bill is fiction. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Save your time, your frustration and a lot of your money, go elsewhere. They bill for fittings you never get, do not follow up when required, and they did not even try to help my daughter purchase new glasses after providing her prescription. I even had to ask them to give me her prescripton after standing there at the desk while they looked at me with vacant stares, just occasionally blinking. I just read other average reviews at other Ossip locations showing 2.5 and 3 stars and mentioned surprise fees as well. I wish I had read them sooner. I'd say those people were being too kind giving them 2 or 3 stars. This place is only 0.1 miles from me, but I'd drive an hour and 40 miles for competent customer service and not to be price gouged on contacts. The kids at the front desk cannot print a receipt without the manager to help. (The same manager who creates those fictional fees based on fictional laws, even though I work for the insurance company and am intimately familiar with both state and federal mandates....she blatantly lied.) Vapid, inept, near-lobotomized employees and then you are ripped off. I guarantee this is not a mistake I will make again with any lind of medical, dental or vision provider. Read reviews, ask for prices in writing ahead of time. Do I want to set up a follow up? No, thanks. I don't believe I'll be in for that follow up that I paid for 6 wks ago. Keep it and the extra $150. I'll make sure to spread the word everywhere I can to spare others the anger stroke I almost had looking at these wide-eyed dolts unable to function, yet somehow employed. Jesus, so many smart people unemployed and these kids....more worried they all wear matching knee high boots and eyeliner.

I’m new to the area and highly recommend this office! The office is clean and prices are fantastic. The associates are so patient, kind and understanding. I’m really terrible with putting solutions and having lights shined in my eyes. Luckily, they have really up to date technology so I don’t have to go through the misery of that process. I had Dr. Flora. She answered all of my questions and didn’t make me feel rushed. Then, at the end, it felt like I had my own personal eyeglass stylist. She walked with me throughout the entire shopping portion and gave excellent feedback and recommendations. The entire process was fast but definitely not rushed. I highly recommend! They’ll definitely take great care of you!
