This Ophthalmologist corresponds to the category of Eye care center.
I was referred by my kids eye doctor for my son to have vision therapy. I was told I was going to placed on a waiting list for up to 6 months or more . However I was told that I can call to check for status. I still haven’t heard from anymore. I’ve left messages and no one called me back. I get directed phone hangs up. Now this week I need to make a visit. This is crazy
I came there to get my yearly exam done. The student were sweet noninvasive and explained everything they were doing as we went along. There’s also their teachers or optometrist to make sure that everything is correct in the exam. I don’t have a fear things going in my eye so I’ll be coming back to get a fitting done for contacts with in a couple of months.
Great clinic, but disappointed, I have been bringing my children to this location for 10 years and right now I was told I that the clinic does not take Countycare, we live in cook county, smh,
The Doctors are great. Management and administration are not. They are out for your money. I recently had my eye exam. It was excellent, as in previous years. The only problem was that I lost my medically necessary contact lens. When I got out of the the exam to check out, I was told that I would have to wait for them to submit the insurance claim, have it approved by my insurance company, and then for them to get paid, before they would even order it. They told me it would be 4-6 weeks. It's there policy for them to be paid first before ordering lenses. They gave me three options: wait, I pay, and they will reimburse me, or I can pay for a set of lenses now and then when insurance clears I will have a spare set. I was mortified that they would have me wither wait for a leas or force me to front the money or basically pay for it twice. I talked to my insurance company and they said there was nothing they can do, since it's an Illinois Institute Policy. My insurance said this is not common, especially considering it is medically necessary and it's pre approved. All Illinois Eye Institute would have to do is submit the forms and they would be paid. I mentioned this to the front desk, and they just argued that it's not guaranteed and that the insurance company will say whatever they want. So they are basically accusing my insurance of lying. This practice basically shows that Illinois Eye institute is more concerned with money, rather than patients. They were more than willing to let me wait. I decided to front them the money and they will reimburse me. I will be hounding them for the reimbursement, since I no longer trust them. Thinking back, they have attempted to upsell me for glasses as well. They tried to offer me options that I didn't need. I usually get transition lenses in my glasses, they offered me blue light blocking lenses as well. When I went somewhere else they said it's a waste of money to get the blue light blocking option on top of transitions, since the transitions have it built in. Another time they processed my insurance to start looking for glasses. I asked them to release, the claim because I may look somewhere else. They promised they would, but did not do it. I had to argue with them over the phone to release it, they admitted they would, but they argued that I said I would come back, so they didn't bother to release the claim. It's a shame, since the doctors and students are excellent. It's also a shame that since they are teaching, they have two sources of income: patients and students tuition. To be this greedy is shameful. I will be looking for another place to be looking for an eye doctor.
I was happy with the exams my children and I received, but when it came time to pick up our glasses, I was not notified that they were ready. I was expecting a phone call since I was told that was the procedure after purchasing four pairs of glasses. I had to check up on them myself only to find out my eyewear had been waiting for me. If you have to purchase prescription eye wear you obviously need them as soon as possible. The 2nd to last time I called I had to leave a message to be called back. Needless to say I never received that call back. When I complained it was obvious the person on the other end of the line could care less. She even cutting me off mid sentence to give an excuse for not receiving a phone call or post card about my order. Notification by post card was never an option that was explained to me. The person spending their money. Don't be sorry, do better and learn some phone etiquette.
Extremely thorough, comprehensive eye examination conducted with the utmost professionalism, care and concern with a redundant checks & balances system of quality assurance.
I visited this facility late August. I asked them ro call my cell number as I'd had calls go to my home before and Im not home during their business hours. Of course they called my home and i didnt listen to that voicemail untill 4 days later. When I received my reading glasses they gave me a headache and made my distance vision blurry. I went back and got my vision rechecked. This time they didn't call at all, they sent a postcard that I never recieved. Also a bill for $45.00 for that visit I made because the prescription was too strong.
Good
cancellation of appoitment without notice
I DONT KNOW THE LADY NAME BUT SHE FIX MY GLASSES FOR ME AND SHE IS NICE
Great Eye Doctors and Students I highly recommend this place to Families and Friends for all eyes exams.
Messed up my schedule, didn't mention the low vision clinic only comes Tuesdays and Thursdays. Drove two hours for nothing. Needs to double check schedules
Went to the urgent care this morning and didn't wait at all! Everyone was so kind from the receptionist, doctor, student, and pharmacy staff!! I was so scared and the doctor was absolutely LOVELY!
Great staff. Loved the selection of frames

Everyone from reception to checkout was extrememly pleasant and professional. The exam was the most thorough I've had in my life. Plan to be there about three hours and be prepared for moderate (though not excessive) time in the waiting room.
They give you a complete and I mean complete eye exam. It takes time. I was where almost four hours. I felt they were really concerned about providing the best exam possible. I bought a new pair of glasses that were $300 cheaper than what I paid at Perle Vision. I will always use The Illinois Eye Institute for my eye care from now on. I am glad my doctor sent me here.
My experience with Illinois Eye Institute was very good the doctor gave me an extensive eye exam and she was so nice!
I had my eye exam on June 16th 2015...Today is October 16th 2015 and my glasses are still not ready. They were paid for months ago and they continue to tell me to be patient...Somebody needs to be fired.
I love this facility my daughter goes every year for her eye exam and the staff has always been amazing.
Lost almost 1,500 in this institute , I have my cornea messed up , went to get the contacts , because they help me see better , they told me I had to pay $700 upfront if not they won't send my order in , so I did .the contacts took like a month to get here, when I got em they were not to ght for me they change them like 2 more times . I went again on Tuesday only to find out this contacts are too tight , so is not safe for me to wear them . And they told me the warranty is expired already so I would have to pay 700$ again . I think is not fair that they can't get the measurements right .
Excellent place especially the staff that performs eye exams for children's áre very friendly. Each visit is a good experience especially for muy daughter.
I Had a great experience here my nurse was very helpful, informative, quick but at the same time carefully did her job. The doctor was straight forward, informative, and asked me more then once if I had any questions which i loved that she did because I like to reiderate what she and I had already went over just so I had everything clear. I been to plenty of eye doctor offices and none of them have been as helpful, thourough, or even as nice as the nurses and doctors here at the Illinois Eye Institute... I will defenitly be going back
Great place clean and good
The service was quick and fast and the people are friendly and they make you feel comfortable while you getting your eye exam. Will recommend to other people.
I was there yesterday Doctor visit was fine with my special needs son except my appt was at 2 the lady at desk was not warm at all from doctors reception area after doctor time at pediatrics they sent us to order glasses a tall guy called us the expierience was far from pleasant must be new as they directed him to the wrong places to pick glasses for my special needs son really worst experience ever get organized.
Very polite staff, great selection of eye frames. Most insurances are accepted which is a plus.
I have had annual exams for nearly 40 years. This was absolutely the best all around vision exam that I have ever experienced. Professionalism front start to finish, literally, from the time I secured an appointment until the day I collected my glasses. A teaching institution with a wonderful decor. They offer programs for financial assistance and share information about ways to improve your vision. The eyes are too important to take chances. Stop going to the local strip mall or other shopping areas for your eye exam. Go to the specialist that Knows and have Studied the eye. The Illinois Eye Institute, the eye is their business and from now on they have my business.
Everyone is very nice. I go to the cornea clinic for my keratoconus condition and I really don't have to wait for long but once in a room I do stay sometimes for more than an hour because they check my eyes to perfection and i love my doctor, she's the best.
Illinois eye institute is so great! They helped me get better glasses after America’s Best Eyeglasses messed up my vision. I’ve been going for a couple months now for eye therapy and it’s honestly helping me a lot. However, I haven’t been able to go this month due to me being a Junior in highschool and my school is preparing us for the SAT. Even though I rescheduled my appointment after something school related popped up that interferes with me arriving to the appointment because you can’t miss more than three days or you’re dropped from the program. It’s sad to say it might come to that for me even though I don’t want it to come to an end.
Very thorough, reliable service.
I don't typically write reviews, let alone negative ones, but I've been very frustrated with my treatment here, namely at the Cornea Center. I have a rare form of astigmatism called karatoconus, which basically makes it very difficult to see at night. I first went to the Cornea Center for evaluation and was given special contact lenses, which were very helpful in correcting the glare I normally get in the evening. These contact lenses are expensive. A year's supply costs close to $1,000 (four pair for a year, each pair costing something like $300). But given their ability to help me see, I was happy to pay for them. I would continue to be happy to pay for them if I didn't have so many issues with obtaining them. Last time I went to visit was to have a new set of lenses be evaluated to ensure they were good for me. If they were, they'd order a year's supply. I went in, there were problems with the left contact lens, so I was informed by Dr. Reeder that they'd order a new pair with the corrected left and a new right, so they'd both expire at the same time. When I went to pick up the new pair, they only provided me with a left one, and told me they did not see an order for a new right one. When I tried calling, explaining that by giving me only a new left one I'd basically be paying $300 for a pair of contact lenses that would only be effective as a pair for half of their normal shelf life (three months), they told me they'd get back to me. When I called again, they told me they'd speak with Dr. Reeder and they'd get back to me. Several months have passed, and I have not been contacted. I guess what's especially disappointing about this poor customer service is that there are limited treatment options for my condition. Most ophthalmologists in the city do not provide these contacts or specialize in karatoconus. And the one place that does does not even put in the effort to engage with a patient who would gladly use their services, but also turns down an opportunity to study a disease that has not been fully evaluated, and still has much more research to be implemented down the road. For now, I wear my glasses, I avoid driving in the evening, and can't make out much of anything unless it's directly in front of me, due to glare. It seems unfortunate that I've been offered a solution, but no one at this clinic seems interested in actually helping me obtain it.
i trust Illinois Eye Institute i only wish the staff had more customer service skills
This institute does not care for veterans, they choose to not accept the veterans choice program which is the insurance program for veterans. It a sad day when you can go to war and come home for it to mean nothing.
The service was quick. The employees are respectful.
I booked an appointment for today and when I went to my appointment I was told I didn't have one because it wasn't in their system. I had to travel an hour just to get their and basically tell me I didn't have an appointment and they asked what was the lady's name I talked to. I didn't know now I have to remember every women I make an appointment with....... This is unacceptable and I wonder who was actually seen in place of me!!!!!!!!
The short brunette hair older lady on the front desk was really rude even roll her eyes on me. The student optometrist was really nice even went back to check if she did her work good.
Super pleasant experience. Everyone was courteous, professional and timely.
I will never go back to this place!!! These eye exams are ridiculous. And I've been calling to see if my glasses have came in and all they kept saying was we cant look anything up until jan 7, so here is jan 7 and ive been calling this clinic all morning since they opened and the help desk said their phones are down either you can come in and check or keep calling back until they answer. I will hate to take this hour drive just so they can tell me they're not ready. Never again!!!! I dont recommend this place to anyone.
One word: Thorough!
I went here with my fiancé, it was her first time going here. She’s a T1 diabetic, so she has to see eye doctors quite often. This clinic was so delightful to visit! Alex was the doctor who assisted her, and she made sure my fiancé was comfortable through all the really long tests.
The location was very convenient and comfortable while waiting. Finally, the staff are children friendly which is great....
Very friendly and helpful doctors and staff. Great selection of glasses and familiar with the latest contacts.
