Poor customer service and if your child has Medicaid and you cant pay for vision therapy out of your FDS budget, forget about getting them vision therapy. Do not use this location.

I love that place like this exists, where the child can build the ability to improve their vision. In turn, improving their ability to learn. They can be expensive, though, and not covered by vision insurance. But, they are great about working with your medical insurance to get you covered. If your child has any signs of a vision issue, this is the best place to start. Update: my daughter finished her whole therapy plan and it worked amazingly!!!! Within a couple of months we had already noticed so much improvement in her reading. And, she actually started to choose books to read for fun, not just school assignments!!! Her attitude toward math class had changed dramatically. She no longer seemed to hate and dread assignments and new lessons. This was probably the single greatest thing that we have done for her, and I didn't even know it was a thing she needed until we heard about this place and had her tested.

We love Dr Johnson! We have witnessed amazing results and will forever be grateful for that! The scheduling department is horrible to work with and we are constantly having issues with them changing or canceling appointments without notice. Also there is no room for rescheduled if we can not make it to an appointment. I hope they get this issues worked out soon!

When my son was in 2nd grade, he kept telling us he needed glasses. At first we thought he just wanted them to be like his best friend, but then once when he was talking to me, I noticed he was only looking at me with one eye. We discovered that he had double vision. He was also really struggling with school--reading was hard and he was coming home exhausted. After we knew of his vision problems, his struggles with school made sense. We searched for help and found what is now called Advanced Vision Therapy Center. My son went to therapy for 5 months. It made a world of difference. Now 3 years later, he is still doing well in school and loves reading. The staff was very caring and well, just awesome! We continue our yearly visits with Dr. Johnson. This makes me feel better to make sure things are still on track. We are so grateful we found Advanced Vision Therapy Center.

As a parent, the whole process can be a bit confusing and complicated as you weigh the cost of the program, all the insurance info, scheduling, etc. It can be a difficult and emotional decision to make when you have to pay up front for the entire therapy. Make sure you dont miss an appt, or you cannot reschedule it and no money back. I have to say, Dr Johnson and both vision therapists seem to be good and knowledgeable. They do great work, and I know they care about my child and getting his eyes to where they need to be. Office staff work hard to make things right in the office, which I'm sure can be hard sometimes. They dont do a great job of explaining billing issues at all though. I think it's definitely worth doing, just had some frustrations along the way. My son's eyes did decline, which supposedly wouldn't happen, but not enough to warrant any redoing of therapy. Overall,we don't regret doing the therapy.

Stressed out mom has concerns that her first grade son may have vision problems. My son’s eyes were consistently red after school and while attempting to sit down and do homework, he complained that he was seeing two of everything. He just fought me when it came time to read. This started in kindergarten and followed into first grade, so I had patience with his struggles, basing it on the fact that maybe he still needs some time to learn how to read. It was not until the school started to reach out to me that he was not at reading level and also acting out in class that I decided to take him to have an eye test. We were fortunate to coincidentally seek treatment at Artisan Optics. Here, their fabulous Dr. Johnson discovered what might really be going on. My son’s vision was good, however he needed work training his eye muscles, much like an athlete needed to train various muscles. He sat me down and told me about Advanced Vision Therapy and the benefits it would have towards my son’s success in school and in life. If this therapy for eyes would lead my son to a successful 2nd grade and beyond, I knew it was absolutely worth the try. We completed the recommended course and my son no longer has double vision. He is 8 and not what you would call a “book-worm”, so it is still challenging to get him to sit down and read, but when he does he actually enjoys it and has not complained about reading once since completing therapy. I saw improvements almost immediately after the first 2 or 3 sessions. He now approaches reading with confidence and for that we highly recommend the AVT course to anyone at any age.
