Let me open my review with this....my 10 year old son woke up this morning and the first thing he said calmly laying in bed was "Mike McMann is nice, I like him". The day before, my son had his eye exam and it was a little hard for him getting used to the numbing drops and having his check up. Dr. McMann was gentle and calm and patient. McMann Eye Institute is the BEST place to take care of your eyes. Always up to speed with the latest eye technology and the ladies in the office are always kind. Remember this....an ophthalmologist went to college and at least 4 years of medical school so surgery procedures can be performed when needed. I also love that when I felt like trying contact lenses, Dr. Masaki could fit me with the best type of contact lenses for my needs. Oh and lastly, for people complaining about waiting for their appointment, I honestly feel it's because of quality time with each patient that the doctors spend. They are not hurried with that kind of energy that makes you yourself feel rushed to ask personal questions. That alone is becoming instinct today. So if you do have to be patient and wait, know you will have quality time when you are called in.

My wife had lasic surgery here over a year ago. During the first procedure her cornea was scratched, causing complications. One year and three "enhancement procedures" later, she is back to wearing glasses so she can see. 5000 dollars wasted. Apart from that at each office visit we have been forced to sit in the waiting room for up to 2 hours past our schefuled appointment time before we are seen. Dr. Mcmann and all of the office personnel are very nice, but it has been a horrible experience. If you have a choice you should look elsewhere.

Hope this is ok to post.... but any one wanting lasik I highly, highly, highly recommend Dr. McMann in Ewa beach. I could not be more satisfied with my procedure. He did a great job! I had shopped around for other places here including Aloha laser Vision but by far the McMann institute exceeded my expectations. They have a friendly staff and relaxing environment. Plus I used a groupon coupon and instead of paying about $5,300 like other places charge it was only $2,700. Pretty much a 2 for one eye special. I just had the procedure a few hours and other than a little discomfort I can see perfectly and I had horrible vision lol.

Extremely professional staff, but very very warm and inviting. Surgery suite is comfortable and every step of the way was explained in detail. I was in excellent hands from the first consultation to my 24hr post op. I am two days post op and in my opinion I am seeing better than when I was in my corrective lenses. I literally just read subtitles in the reflection of my spouse’s glasses. It's surreal to say the least.

Switching to a new doctor after 20 years is a tough decision, but the drive, parking, & scheduling became a challenge. I decided to try the McMann Eye Institute at the recommendation of a family member. It’s literally minutes from my home with ample parking for my full size truck, and I can book an appointment any day after work without having to drive all the way into town fighting traffic in both directions, so things we’re already looking up. I was very pleased with how nice I was treated at my first visit, and how timely each process of the visit was taken care of. The biggest difference being I was taken care of by a team of people versus just my doctor. Though I miss the relationship and camaraderie of my 20 year doctor, I’m very happy with my decision to switch now that I’ve eliminated so much aggravation and have had a very good experience with my first visit.

Getting LASIK has been a dream of mine ever since getting confined to contacts/glasses over twenty years ago. Once I finally made up my mind to get it I went to see Dr. McMann for a free consultation. A couple weeks later, and I am completely free of contacts/glasses. The procedure only took about 10 minutes, and Dr. McMann kept me updated on what was going on the entire time. There was very mild discomfort at times, but no pain. The first day after LASIK and my vision was 20/15 in both eyes. Given my eyes are not done healing it is possible My final vision will be even better. My only regret is waiting so long to do this. I would absolutely recommend the McMann Eye Institute for anyone considering LASIK.

Overall great experience. The wait was not bad considering it was Lasik surgery day. My eye exam and contacts fitting went very smoothly. Dr. Melanie Masaki was very professional and competent. She and the whole staff have extraordinary customer service skills. Their office is in a great facility and location for West Oahu in the newly remodeled Physician's Office Building next to the new Queen's Medical Center--West Oahu.
