I saw Dr. Jenkins on the recommendation of my optometrist, Dr. Elizabeth McElmore (who is also top notch). I've wanted LASIK for several years but kept hoping my insurance would start covering it. It probably never will, so I bit the bullet and decided to just go for it. After doing a bit of research and discovering that Dr. Jenkins is a bit of a legend in the Honolulu eye care market, I wasn't sure what to expect. She had great reviews, but I was wary of walking into an elitist office and waiting around for an hour past my appointment time. Neither of those happened. The practice is obviously doing well, but is very welcoming and extremely efficient. I was seen within 10 minutes of my appointment time and was moved between the different screening rooms with hardly any down time. Dr. Jenkins is the epitome of professionalism and experience. She is very down to earth and takes the time to answer questions she probably hears 20 times a day with patience and compassion, but she is honest and no-nonsense. As a patient I felt as though my eye care needs were put before her need to make money off of another surgery. That being said, her office uses the most up to date technology but charges less than other practices who use older technology. Her office staff does the necessary screening tests, she meets the patient and does the explaining and question answering, and the LASIK coordinator Davina (who is also warm, caring, and great at her job) gets everything scheduled. All the pre and post-op instructions were communicated clearly. The level of care didn't go down once my surgery was over. Dr. Jenkins did the surgery and my 1-day post-op check-up and since I live closer to my optometrist, she did the rest of my post-op visits. I'm so glad I made the decision to have LASIK done, and have nothing buy good things to say about my experience at Jenkins Eye Care. My results were great- I was seeing 20/15 (better than "perfect") one day after surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Jenkins and her practice!
