Dr. Yang and his eye care specialist staff are the best. Dr. Yang checks on me every 6 months for glaucoma. With this early detection I will be able to ward off the complications of untreated glaucoma.

Several years ago, I went to my regular Eye Clinic 3x over 2 months complaining about poor vision and lots of floaters. The Doc said it was nothing to worry about and to use liquid tears for my dry eyes. A week later, I suddenly lost vision in my right eye. I went to my primary physician who immediately set me up with Dr. Grant Miyashiro at Eye Care Hawaii. Diagnosis: detached retina. The next day Dr. Miyashiro had me sent to Dr. Lai on Oahu for surgery. After several months of surgeries and treatments, I had regained about 80% vision in my eye...much better than expected. Needless to say, I see Dr. Miyashiro at least 2x a year to check my retina repair, cataracts, glaucoma, etc. HI Eye Care has the most modern equipment and can catch problems when they are small and treatable. I am also able to drive again (with new Rx glasses), something I thought I would never be able to do again. :-) Janis

For the past 7 years I've been paying for eye exams. I stopped at Eye Care Hawaii and made an appointment. The staff was friendly and the doctor was thorough. Medicare paid for my exam and finally I was approved for cataract surgery. I couldn't be happier.

I had trouble with a local optometrist clinic. Eye care gave me an appointment right away to straighten out my prescription. they were very thorough and listened to my complaint with suggestions as to what I needed to do. Competent, professional, thorough and courteous exam.

They were able to make adjustments for my unique set of circumstances with having had an operation elsewhere and changing insurance, etc.. Only went once so far so too fast to judge on things such as skill but I did not feel rushed as was the case for most medical care-related offices and that counts for a lot. I got there by bus, there, but the way back required hitch-hiking - that is Hilo's fault not the clinic's.

I have been a patient here for the past four years and greatly appreciate the knowledge and kindness of the entire staff. My appointments are always on-time and my questions are answered with expertise. The office is a welcoming layout and the free tea and coffee much appreciated!

First of all, the employees that answers and calls for reminders of appointments is doing a great job. The other employees, I notice that they are always on breaks, complaining, on their phones, basically doing nothing at all. Who is the supervisors there. Seems like there is one person, kinda short thinks she is the supervisor up front, but always complaining, like she knows everything. And she is one of them always taking a break or leaving like she brings her personal problems to work. She yells at the front desk employees for no reason. It looks like she doesn't know her or anyone else's job. If that is one of the supervisors, she needs to start acting like a supervisor and know everyone's job or not be a supervisor and start from the bottom. Also if she is a supervisor she need to act like a supervisor and be professional, not yell at the employees in front of everyone, because it looks bad on her and also it looks bad at the company. Don't know if I want to bring my family here. Thank you. Distrubed customer
