Unfortunately the customer service in the Gainesville location is unsatisfactory . I would like to recommend that they confirm appointment changes with the patients before they show up for the original Appointment. After the problem was realized they tried to blame the mistake on me . Dr. Hollar is very kind, knowledgeable and competent in all things about the eye but I’m not sure the stress his staff put on me was worth it .

The office called and emailed me to remind me of the appt. and I was thankful for that since I had not entered it Into my calendar from the year before. I was immediately received, checked for insurance and then placed in a comfortable waiting room. I waited approximately 4/5 minutes before seeing the Dr. The Dr took his time checking my eyes and quickly decided my glasses needed a slight correction. I waited a while to talk to someone about glasses because they were very busy. I was told it would take up to 2 weeks for the glasses to arrive but actually they called to tell me that they had arrived after 1 week. All in all I'd say that was an excellent experience from start to finish.

Experience was great and the staff was super. I started going to Dr. Payne to have Laser Surgery on my eyes to come out of glasses. So glad I did it and would recommend him to anyone thinking of doing it. He also does catarac surgery and takes care of diabetic eyes.

I accomplished what I went for but in the process met some uncaring almost rude staff and physician. Only one out of the 5 people I spoke to in the office that day (it was not the doctor) listened, or even appeared interested or slightly friendly or could even manage a smile. In the midst of the eye rolling, sighing, and re-asking of questions just answered (due to not listening) I somehow got a prescription. I wasn't told about the prescription until the pharmacy called for me to pick it up. In the end, I got what I needed but would not recommend this office to anyone else.

Dr. Hollar is wonderful! He's very thorough and professional. I usually have to wait a while, but Dr. Hollar's service outweighs the waiting. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the wait time. I was also very thankful to be able to get squeezed in for a same-day appointment when I was having some vision issues!

Since my first appointment, I have been impressed with the quality of service and treatment I have received at North Georgia Eye Clinic. I have had Dry Eye Syndrome for at least ten years. My previous physicians have not been very aggressive in treating it. With Dr. Shah's attention and treatment recommendations, my eyes are much less "dry" than they have ever been. I have been to several eye clinics in Georgia over the past few years for treatment of macular degeneration. Overall the other places I went were a lot like being on a conveyor belt in a factory - waiting rooms of 25-30 people and overall an appointment would take up to four hours, if I was lucky. I always felt that staff I interacted with were rushed and impersonal. My experience at NGEC was completely different!! My wait time was minimal and everyone from the billing department to the individual nursing staff to Dr. Thomas himself were relaxed, thorough and seemed to be focused on making my experience smooth and comfortable. While the treatments I receive are painful they did everything they could to make me feel cared for. I highly recommend them if you are looking for quality medical care!

We recently saw Dr. Gertsch for my daughters eye sight. The appointment went great. They dilated her eyes and the process went very smooth. Once we got her prescription we went next door and met with the wonderful ladies who helped us pick out glasses for my daughter. Stephanie is awesome and helped us fit her for glasses! My daughter has since broken her glasses and we made a trip back up to see Stephanie again! As always she had a smile on her face and helped us get them fixed!

My husband and are 71 & 70. Came from Ohio a couple years ago to live in Georgia near son in Pendergrass. Bob had eye surgery by Dr. Barry Lee. All results were positive and he continues to improve. Follow up for eye exams because as time goes by the eyes continue to change/ improve. As we sat our brief time in the waiting room we were told a story from a woman who had clamped down a Tupperware with a bungee cord and it had snapped back and hit her in the eye. She had tons more to say, but ended it with the most grateful words about her care. Everyone sitting there has a story. It is such a reassuring feeling to be in the hands of competent caregivers. All we can say is if you go to a Top rated Doctor it makes sense to do the same for all eye exams. They are the best, always professional! We have both had exams a week ago.I put all my trust in these intelligent, devoted people and we are thankful they are available. They do not need my review. The product clearly speaks for itself. The care I received was personal and genuine..... right down to the nurse who fixed my very special bracelet while I was asleep in the OR and placed it on my wrist for me to see when I woke up. The quality of surgeries on both my eyes was excellent by Dr. Payne and associates. However, was told verbally I was totally paid up for out of pocket costs for both surgeries, net of insurance coverage, on the day of each surgery. Yet about 3 months after the first surgery, I was billed for $700 ($78 net of insurance coverage) for anesthesia services. A woman in their office said today that I initialed somewhere on a form saying I have to pay this. I was never informed verbally there might be extra charges several months in the future. I hope there are no more surprises coming for payments due from the second surgery.

In general the experience was good. A couple of things that could be better... the individual that did the exam prior to the Dr.'s arrival could develop more social skills. Realizing that they are not there to be social butterflies, it should be remembered that genuine smiles and friendliness of attitude go a very long way. Second the bouncing around to three different rooms and extended time in waiting areas between the "bouncing" seemed excessive.
