I can't personally claim to know how painful it is to have a corneal abrasion (that's a "scratched eye" to us common folk). However, based on the amount of pain my wife was in when she scratched her eye, it's pretty agonizing. After a quick early-morning call and juggling a few schedules, Stephanie (who is incredible) was able to work us in. An hour or so later, my wife was in an exam room under the care of Dr. Shumski. Big thanks to him and whoever invented numbing eye drops for bringing the woman I love some relief from the pain and relentless tearing. With Dr. Shumski's explanation of corneal abrasion and a nice cocktail of ointments and drops, the pain subsided dramatically by the next day and was entirely gone within three or four days. Big thanks to the Magruder Laser Vision team for superb care and outstanding empathy.

I just passed the one year anniversary of my LASIK procedure and I can say without hesitation that it's the best thing I've ever done for myself! I started wearing glasses when I was eight years old and then switched to contacts at twelve. Due to my high prescription and astigmatism, I was always told that I wasn't a candidate for vision correction. Once a friend told me that technology had drastically changed and now I might be able to have it done, I booked a consultation with multiple LASIK facilities in Central Florida to check them all out. Magruder Laser Vision won hands down! Their office was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. And then there's Dr. Magruder, he's just the BEST! He took the time to meet with me during my free consultation and answer all of the questions and concerns I could think of. I left that day feeling empowered with knowledge. As for my surgery itself, it was quick and painless. Dr. Magruder talked to me throughout the procedure and made me feel very comfortable. Once he finished, I sat up and could read the clock on the wall. To say I cried at that moment is an understatement. My husband said I was like a toddler on the car ride home, just reading every sign out loud. But just a few hours earlier I couldn't even see the BIG E on the eye chart without glasses or contacts. The only regret I have is waiting as long as I did to get this done!

I had been considering laser vision for several years but had always been told I would not be a candidate because of how poor my vision was (-12.5 contacts) and that I wore contacts for a few decades daily. Upon the suggestion of a friend who had recently had her done, I went in for the free consultation at Magruder Laser Vision. They spent a great deal of time testing my eyes and answering any questions. They didn't make any promises before I left after the consultation, they reviewed as a team, to determine if I would be a successful candidate. When it was determined I would be, they called back and set up the surgery. Surgery day was a breeze, they took amazing care of me. I was home within a few hours and after a nap, I woke up to nearly clear perfect vision. I was working from home that afternoon and in work the next day. My vision now, 3 months later? Well, its 20/15 and its nice to go to the beach, pool, gym, roller coasters, rainy days, and so on without thinking about my contacts or glasses. The entire staff at Magruder from the front desk to finance were polite, friendly, thorough with being wasteful of my time. I would definitely recommend.

For years I avoided getting LASIK. I was told once by an eye doctor that my astigmatism could not be fixed — then he sold me glasses. Gee thanks. Later in life I decide I would still shop around Central Florida and did about three consultations. Everyone was great, they all said the right things. Then I met the staff at Magruder Laser Vision and they were awesome and very knowledgeable. Lots of high-end tests and education up front I was really impressed. I got to meet Dr. Magruder on a my first consultation (plus it was free). We talked about my eyes and my astigmatism was not only operable, even better, I was a good candidate to correct it! It was comforting to speak directly with my surgeon, because just like everyone else, I had terrified myself with all the nonsense from the internet. Now I can see better than I can remember, and the only glasses I own are sunglasses. I understand if you want to shop around, as I did, but I’m glad I made the decision to work with Dr. Magruder.

I had my LASIK done in August 2018 and I absolutely am thrilled with the results. I can now see 20/20 after always being so nearsighted that if I wanted anything to be clear, I'd have to be only an inch away from it without glasses. I am 25 years old and I'm ridiculously happy with the fact the I have so many years ahead of me with clear vision. I've been wearing glasses since age 7 and knew it was time for a change. After shopping countless LASIK doctors I went Magruder Laser Vision. Their staff was great and during the consultation (which was free and SUPER educational) really put my fears to rest. The procedure itself was not at all what I was expecting, not bad at all, and now I feel like a new person. I totally understand if you want to shop around, I mean it's your eyesight. For about a year, I’ve been planning on getting Lasik and before my procedure at Magruder Laser Vision, I went to multiple doctors to consult to see which one I should go with and began contemplating whether or not I should push the surgery off because of cost. I finally decided to just do it and went with Magruder Laser Vision and I am so glad I did. This office didn’t seem like they were just trying to push me in and out of the office and they took their time to explain everything to me. Procedure day went extremely well and two days post op, I felt great. I'm now 1 month post op and I am seeing with 20/15 vision and I am feeling better than ever. After 16 years of glasses and 11 years of contacts, I am very glad I made the decision to get Lasik! So thankful for Drs. I’ve been wearing glasses since the 5th grade and as long as I could remember I hated them so much ! Glasses always got in the way of everything I did although the style was nice. As I got older I I started to look into contacts and I also didn’t like those because whenever I’d have an itch or even just normal staring or blinking functions, they’d start to feel like something is stabbing my eye. I always looked into lasik because I really thought it would be cool and very very useful to never have to wear glasses or contacts again and here I am today, with perfect, CRISP vision because of Dr. Shumski and his team at Magruder Laser Vision. I’ve never felt so comfortable to do surgery before. As soon as you walk in you’re met with this beautiful office and the most beautiful atmosphere and from that point, you know these people know what they’re doing. I’ve gotten my vision correction done on April 24th, 2019 and it’s still going great, no problems at all! It’s the best thing I’ve spent money on and I would recommend every person to visit Magruder Lasik Vision if interested in getting your vision corrected. Dr Shumski himself, takes care of you and makes you feel like he’s your own. With any questions and concerns, he had the answers to it all! Never will I ever regret this decision. If I had to do lasik again in my next life perhaps, I’d do it over and over especially because it’s PAINFREE. Thank you for the new eyes Dr Shumski and Team!

Extremely knowledgable, friendly, and no high-pressure sales. I had visited a couple of lasik docs and they all were very high pressure. I felt completely comfortable during my first visit with Doc and his staff. They did tests/diagnostics, told me what they found, and made it clear it was my decision. They were honest and informed me of what could be done, gave me information and encouraged me to get other opinions. In the end I went with them and couldn't be more satisfied with my decision and their process. Thank you!

I had never really considered getting vision correction, because I was concerned about the risks. My husband convinced me to become more educated about the procedure. After speaking to several providers in the area, I went to Magruder Laser Vision. Everyone at Magruder is incredibly thoughtful, helpful, and knowledgeable. While being evaluated to determine candidacy, I found out I only needed correction in one of my eyes. None of the other providers suggested this. My father is in his 70’s and needed LASIK at the end of last year. He was slightly worried my Mom and and I were very worried. We did a lot of research on the procedure and who should do it. We decided on Magruder because of the level of professionalism and attention to detail. They took time and educated both my parents about what to expect, how the procedure actually works and after care. My mom is a worrier and they really did a great job of making her a believer. They even went over all the insurance info so we knew exactly what was covered. The entire thing was much simpler and easier than we imagined. They have a great staff - warm, caring, knowledgeable and very sensitive to the needs of patient and family. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
