REVIEWS OF The Eye Institute IN Delaware

Renee Frierson-Briscoe, LPC

They are the BEST!! I have been a patient for many, many years!! I have tried other places but I always go back to the Eye Institute. They are thorough and I always leave there feeling confident about the services I receive. I have taken my daughter since she was a little girl and she feels the same.

I read “bullibuc’s” comment where he said that “Lourdes” hanged up the telephone. You are lucky, I have been trying to get a LIVE person to pick up the line for some time. When I did get through, I gave them my information-they said they didn’t have me on their network- not under my name or my DOB or address-when they did fine me they had to resort to using my cell number. So now I’m good-right? Don’t bet on it. I see a specialist-they could not find HIS schedule. They said the doctor has to put it up-REALLY. Then they tried to give me an appointment with a regular eye doctor – I had to convinced the person that seeing a regular doctor would not help me. They told me to call back. When I call back same problem. :-{ This problem has been going on since they were taken over a few years ago, I wonder if the directors are aware of the problem. I agree with “bellibuc” when he states; “They're customer service agents … seemed to be in a race to get off the phone as soon as possible (maybe they're competing in their call center for quickest call times?). poor customer service.” Like “bellibuc” I too need urgent eye care, so I am looking for a new doctor.

Theresa Terri Rudd

Great Drs there, however the last time I had a test the wait was too long.

Awesome place to get your eyes examined

The worst. I called to set an appointment. I spoke to a Lourdes who asked what my insurance was and before I could answer she hung up. I thought that maybe this was a mistake. I had my girlfriend call minutes later and guess who answered again? Lourdes! My girlfriend said that she wanted to set up an appointment based on my doctors referral. Lourdes once again asked for insurance and guess what happened again? Lourdes Hung up. I called back again later and got another customer service agent and told her I was calling to set up an appointment. I never got a chance to tell what my doctor was referring me to the Eye Institute for. I gave this Customer Serive agent my insurance information and was told they didn't except it. I called my insurance company and they said that The Eye Institute was in their network . I then went to my eye insurance website and The Eye Institute was listed as a provider under my insurance. They're customer service agents that I encountered seemed to want to be in a race to get off the phone as soon as possible(maybe they're competing in their call center for quickest call times?). poor customer service. my eye needs to be checked but their customer service agents seem to only care about their call center numbers.

Joan Baxter

I have been a patient for several years. The service keeps getting better. The wait time is shorter. The only delay was in the eyewear department. It took awhile to be acknowledged for service.

Karen Vincek

it's shocking how unprofessional the administrative staff members are. the care provided by the practitioners, however, was comparable to other institutions. i work in the healthcare industry and i am acustumed to a significantly higher level of customer service, people who speak clearly (and not with food in their mouths). I'm used to being serviced by support staff that speak in a positive, warm tone. My son's order for eyeglasses was messed up and now I'm faced with the inconvenience of once again returning to the office.

Ms. Bless

The worst place ever. They only make children's appointment on a weekly basis. Therefore if you lucky to get an appointment in the same week you call you have to take off work to bring yuour child. Then the young ladies in the glasses / optical wear section are rude and ignorant. They allow you to stand there in their faces while they talk about engagements, guys and whatever else for 15 mins. Then look at you like your crazy when you say excuse me. Then when I came to pick up the glasses they roll their eyes. Pretend your not standing there so they won't have to ask yuou "Can I help you." Lastly, I thought it would be easier and more conscience to make my appointment online. I did so and no one ever called me to let me know if i could get those appointment. Three months later. I called them and they still was unable to get me an appointment. Smh...a total disgrace and a mess.

Mister Mann

I had an appt on July 11, 2019. My first time there. My experience was excellent in the beginning. The receptionist ,the person that put me thru thorough examination and the doctor were all phenomenal. I then went to the optical department to obtain glasses. Then the visit took a 360. There were three ladies behind the counter two having a conversation as if they were at home. I greeted the young ladies and told them I was looking for lenses. No one wanted to take the responsibility of helping. Pushing the responsibility on one another. Finally one step up to the task. I then asked where the lenses that were cover by my provider. This lady tells me I had to fill out a form for payment first. This didn't make sense to me if i didnt find what i wanted first. Why would I fill this paper out and I don't even know that i was going to find glasses I wanted. I thought that was putting the cart before the horse. So when I questioned the lady about that form she wanted me to sign for payment. She told me I couldn't go any further until I sign for payment first which made no sense. Long story short I didn't find anything Iiked plus I didn't like the environment I was in so I left and went to another location to purchase glasses. I think there is a re training issue in the optical shop. The Company objectives should be Paramount ,but obviously they don't understand this. I hope someone addresses this issue and follows up to ensure adjustments are made.

I’m on the phone on hold waiting to get a live voice. I called at 4:20 pm and website say closing at 5:00pm. It is now 4:43 pm. Recording saying they appreciate your time and patience for holding on all reps are currently on the line assisting other patients and will provide same quality of service.

Joyce Gailliard

Usually there is quite a wait. I attribute that to this being a teaching institution. Consequently, there are many people waiting. My family has been coming here for over thirty years and the new facility is nice. They've even expanded to include medical appointments. I have experienced not being able to schedule a routine appointment via telephone.

Stephanie Yoo

Wow, the receptionist or whoever receives the phone call for the Eye Institute is unbelievably rude. I tried to schedule an appointment, this lady offered me two different dates that unfortunately did not work out with my schedule, and she gets extremely frustrated over the phone and angrily asks which days I am "actually" available. I wonder if she even gets paid to work there.

ANGEL SCOTT

I was treated very well i love the eye Institute there great , i will go there long as I'm living

virginia Franklin

Geoffrey Ave office, Very friendly staff. Had appointment & very short wait time. Ms Lorraine that works there in the eyeglass area was very knowledgeable, & explained all my options cleary & very pleasant to work with. Great visit. Purchased two pair eyeglasses. Going back for another pair i also like.

Jackie Reeves

Let’s SEE! Pun intended! Where do I begin in sharing my experiences with the Eye Institute? Probably with Dr. Jeffrey Nyman, who’s been my optometrist for over 20 years. He’s the best there is, and combined with a diligent group of talented young student professionals, my experiences have always been exceptional!

Barbara Mosley

I am happy to have had a short waiting time to be seen. The intern was pleasant, personable, thorough and very conscientious about all aspects of the examination I have a long history with The Eye Institute, this intern is the best intern I ever had Of course Dr. Burwood is still your best. I enjoyed the visit.

Leonard Sayles

Excellent professional service and caring and attentive staff

Sharon Edgerson

When I first receive my exam on 06/23/16 about a week later went back to get my two pair of eyewear. The lens wear not completed right, But as of today there is only one pair completed. It has almost been a month, will never go back again Not happy at all

simon bloom

The eye institute provided top quality care from start to finish. My doctor explained everything that was wrong. What they were doing and why and what would happen next. I completely recommend the eye institute for all your eye healthcare needs

Joyce Hill

Very thorough in their service.

Nikki Richardson

I’ve been trying to get an appointment with them for 6 months. I requested my appointments online and nothing. I’ve called dozens of times only to be disconnected after waiting a long period of time.

Melissa Studie

Dr Ray B on the fifth floor is rude and has not respect what you are going thru

Denise Mendez

Great service and professional medical care

Sherdina Abron

This is the best place in the world for the health of your eyes. I have been going to the eye institute since I was a little girl when they first opened on the corner of Broad & Olney Avenue. They specialize in the eye and you can trust them to have your vision sharp enough to see a fly across the street.

Marilyn Crowder

Awesome, professional amd extremely thorough in their care.

g fl

I and my wife have both been treated by Dr. Balyeat and he is compassionate and very helpful with any questions you have. I would highly recommend him and his staff.

Irommy

From the front desk, the Interns and Doctors... everyone was amazing and very efficient.

Veronica L. Hill-Peed

They are very very good at what they do. I would recommend any and everyone to go there!☺️recommend

Lorne Collier

The front desk people are nice, however you will wait FOREVER!!! Appointment was scheduled for 10:30 AM for my mother. It's now 12:00 PM and we're still in the waiting area. No updates. No apologies. I would not recommend this place at all!! Maybe by tomorrow I'll be able to complete the review. That's probably when they will call her name

Kia Geiger

Great Service..

Carla Blackmon

I got my annual exam there a while ago..Long wait..wrong script for right eye..Gr8t Students..they were correct..Dr wasn't..asked for contact script..gave me script for glasses...had to go back and pay 90 for another exam for rhe contacts...NEVER AGAIN .

Jaymee B

I've been to many eye facilities but Eye Institute has been my go to for the last 5 years. They have great service, close to transportation, and a clean facility.

Joseph Le

My name is Joseph Le, I and two family members are long time the patients of the Eye Institute Oak Lanes but now we have to leave the Eye Institute. The reason is we could not make the appointments anytime we received the reminding notices that it is time to make the appointment. Any time we call to make the appointment we always were asked to wait for the busy agents. to serve other patients. Because we needed to see our treatment doctors .we had to wait normally 30 minutes or more, when the bell rang on the phone, in stead of hearing the answering voices on the phone , we heard the sound of cut off phone. After many times could not make the appointment we have to choose other Eye Institutes.

Regina Johnson

Very good place to get your eyes examined....I would recommend this place to everyone and they have some FLY eyewear u can see this place from the street Docs and techs are excellent

Simply Lisa

This is the only place I've ever entrusted with my eyes. The residents are thorough and engaging. The physician supervisor has always been full of personality, making the learning experience enjoyable for the resident and the examination comfortable for me as the patient. I recently experienced a vitreous detachment and the condition, as well as what to expect next, were explained in great detail. When returning for my routine eye exam, exactly 2 weeks later, the physician's had communicated my care with each other which eliminated duplication of unnecessary services.

Maya

As a student doctor at The Eye Institute, I have noticed that the maintenance workers are very considerate and hard working. Ms. Theresa does an excellent job going above and beyond to make sure that the doctors and staff have everything they need in order to best help the patient. When something is missing from an exam room, she jumps to find the needed supplies. It is clear that Theresa really cares about the patients at TEI and that exams run as efficiently as possible.

Lashae Moses

Has good customer service , long wait, but the doctors and staff are very friendly and gentle

Ingelle Gonzalez

Grandmother has been calling from NJ for over a month . The phone system is cyclical and keeps you going in circles as long as you stay on the line.

Mark Hamilton

I've always felt good about the eyecare, but their administration staff leaves a lot to be desired. Trying to get the billing straight is an adventure - good luck getting someone who knows how to resolve issues.

lydia sykes

Very caring always give a COMPLETE & THOROUGH exam. You are NEVER rushed

yado slice

I scheduled an appointment in which I had to wait weeks for , just to be told that I need a referral when I get there. when I set the appointment I was told to bring my insurance card and id , nothing else!!!... oh yeah got rescheduled for the appointment which is over a month away. I don't think so, I'm going somewhere else

brenda lizarra

Great service very good Dr.I recomended 100%

Overall, when you get examined by the doctors, they are thorough. They take their time, ask questions and do everything to get the correct prescription. Experienced as well. I also like their eye wear center, there is a great selection to chose from. I never had to wait long to get seen. The thing that is preventing me from giving 5 stars are two things: appointments are too far out and the actual examinations are TOO long. When I call to set an appointment, I have to wait 2 months now...sometimes longer. My son has been going there for 13 years....it was never like that. The examinations, why they are thorough. they are long. About 60 minutes. One time my mother had a negative experience with taking my son, they had an appointment and she waited for like 60 minutes after her appointment time and finally asked what was going on. The lady stated "emergencies" etc. My mom stated it was rude of them not to apologize or offer an explanation earlier. She never wanted to go again and never has.

Lindsey Arnold

I can't speak on the practice itself, however. I called on a Saturday morning because I believe I had an infection of some sort in my eyes and needed to be seen. When I called they sent me to the emergency line there are no other choices on Saturday. I told the lady what was going on and she said is "it an emergency or not an emergency" And I explained again and told her I don't know what's considered an emergency in Opthalmology! And she just kept repeating her self "is it an emergency or not an emergency" like a robot.. I eventually just had to hang up and go elsewhere because that was the worst experience Ive ever had. If you are going to be hired to answer calls to make appointments for patients especially in an emergency situation. You should know how or be trained to triage based off of symptoms. That would be so helpful for people who aren't doctors and can't tell you weather it's a true emergency .

Janet Meadows

I have been receiving treatment here for several years, always received great care.

Danessa Porter

The place is very clean some staff are very nice, while others staff are plain bad, nasty, outrageous. The vending machines are all broken. I had an app for surgery at 10:00 and you still have to sit for over 2 hours before you are seen. You only have one doctor that sees patients and you look and see that you feel like you are in some welfare office. For a patient that's a diabetic this pretty much sucks and you have to wait cause is not like you can reschedule your appointment. The manager of the eye glasses place. Well what can I say he is very, extremely prejudice. No class and have no idea how to speak to people. I was frantic when I spoke to him he was just nastiest person ever. Also you have some staff of doctor Lewis that have no idea how to speak to people they actually think they are speaking with a child. UNBELIEVABLE

Linda Walters

I like The Eye Institute and have been a patient there for many years. The facility is near public transportation, the staff is very professional, and the facility is very clean. I usually have a specialty care appointment every 3 months. The only problem I've experienced with the facility is on a few occasions, after waiting almost 3 months for my next appt., TEI contacts me to tell me I have to reschedule because the doctor wouldn't be in that day. I reschedule and the next available appt. is 2 more months away.

TRACY HAMPTON

My 4 year old had an eye exam. The only problem is that the University students did his eye exam first. They learned how to adjust the various devices (glaucoma puff tester, the device that gives an idea of what your prescription should be, etc.) to accomodate my son. The bright lights shining in your eyes, and reading the same eye chart can get old for me, so for my DS, to sit through the first Hour of the exam was good. THEN the eye doc came in and did it all again. Our 2 HOUR! exam, that ran through his lunch time was EXHAUSTING for us both. in the end he did receive a quality reading, but right now I know I am going to get a fight from him when we have to go back for our next visit.

Joe Molett

I was very satisfied with the doctor with the staff there they had been very helpful and very friendly

kathleen clements

My last two visits to the Institute were excellent. Staff was pleasant and professional. Very thorough exam. The facility is lovely, easy to get to and plenty of parking. Could not ask for more.

Drew DeMarco

This place is HORRIBLE. Fire Renee and maybe you will succeed. hour wait time and forget about calling appointment center. Rude supervisors. Third world country in there. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO CALL YOURSELVES A BUSINESS LET ALONE A SCHOOL!!!!!!!!

Oteria Sheldon

Service always done in a timely and professional way. They are working on improving the way in which you can make appointments by phone. All staff very polite, extremely helpful, and community mindful of health needs (workshops).

Theresa Hayes

I love The Nymam brothers

Randy Holmes

Always outstanding patient care and concern. Have been going to the Eye Institute for years since my ophthalmologist retired. I have moved several times and now drive over two hours rather change to someplace closer to my home. Once again care and service second to none.

Teazil S. Crim

Its the best eye Drs but they r students and there learning so they r more accurate

Claudette Taylor

For the number of people they serve at that Center, the service is excellent. The staff at the front desk are professional and polite. The interns are also on point. The interns speak with the patients respectfully, and treat them gently. I am a patient at 1200 W. Godfrey, for the last 17 years. I travel from the Overbrook section of Philadelphia to the Godfrey Campus because I am comfortable and feel cared for, from the front desk, the interns and the doctors. Thank YOU ALL at The Eye Institute at Godfrey!!!

Marge Schwegel

The exam is very thorough. My husband and I have been getting our yearly eye checkups at the Eye Institute for many years and we are really satisfied with their state of the art exam. Five stars all the way.

Byron-Leonel Duran

Great place and nice people

Sandy Hackman

I had a great exam on March 28th but could not get my report despite many, many calls. I wasn't approved by the doctor until May 7th. I think that is unreasonable.

James Carter

The doctors and assistant were help and courteous They gave me a complete eye exam and they prescribe new eyeglasses for me. I am pleased with theses glasses . it improved my vision.

Wanda Truitt

My Mother brought me to The Eye Institute as a child to get my eyes checked. Years later I bring my Daughter for her eye examination. They have serve my family well. Great service, no long wait, everyone is very courteous and helpful. Thank you Eye Institute for your great service. Keep up the good work.

Hadiyah Brown

My family has been going here since I can remember, so I grow up and decide to go here. First time was a breeze, everything was good, I thought they were reliable. Fast forward a year later... now I'm trying to schedule my next exam, I have been playing on this phone for a week trying to get an appointment. First the operator just dead ended to the emergency call line every time I went through all the steps and buttons to talk to a real person. Then I would be left on hold until I decided to hang up. After two weeks, Someone picked up today (7/15/19). After 15 minutes on hold I was given the earliest available appt. on August 26. (face palming emoji) is a mood lol. The lady was very polite but the system needs some consistency work. I'm gonna copy and paste this to customer support bc I just realized this was more of a damn complaint email less of a review lol but I'm gonna just drop it here too because... that's how I'm feeling.

Ann Hartzell

Great experience. Had no appointment - emergency. There was a wait BUT once I got in I was showered with attention! Feel confident that my eyes are in good hands.

Artise Lee

They have a low vision clinic for my brother in law AWESOME

W Patten

My first time at the Eye Institute....I was very pleased with service by everyone.....security guards were pleasant....receptionist Carla....nice. Excellent service in the optical department!!!!!. But when I got to the contact lens center totally different story. D Anderson was very rude not only did I wait about 15 mins for her to “come out of the bathroom”, when she did come out, she never acknowledged me( no way she didn’t see me). She took/made a call, sat down. When call was finished, she then talked to co-workers. She never serviced me. And rolled her eyes when I asked someone else in the office was I at the correct place to order lenses. They told me I had to go to front(not true).Thank you Carla the receptionist that called her (Ms. Anderson)on the phone to place my contact lens order!!!!!!If I didn’t have that experience in the contact lens department I would have given a 5 star review!!!

Mark Cornitcher

Long wait time but good customer service

Tamara Lambert

Dr Kali Cole does an insufficient job, and when asked to fix her incomplete work, she sends you off to someone else. No accountability and arrogance to spare

N Williams

Have been coming here for years, their testing is very in-depth and thorough, student doctors are always very patient and answer any questions you may have.

ricky hawkins

If your looking for good quality services and a great staff that can handle all of your eye care look know further.

Dan Lopez

The staff is professional and friendly, and the facility kept clean, but the appointment is too long. It was scheduled for 8:45 am and it ended at noon. No free WiFi connection.

David Alender

Doc Corbett I think is the best eye doc. Out there when I go there he cares about my eye health if some something goes wrong he there trying to find the best fix he has done more for me than I could ever ask for my eye condition may be unique but so far he is right there step for step couldn’t ask for better 99% of other staff are great friendly and always ready to work nv no I hate being at work faces thanks guys and gals

Mr. 215

Been coming here forever never a problem the students are great very professional , staff are good people, wait time idk I always had an appointment. Snow storm ruined my appointment today
