Dr. Nichols and his staff have always provided us with excellent and timely service. I recently had cataract surgery for both eyes. Everything is looking good, literally, at this point.

We waited over an hour for an evaluation of our 7 month old daughter and was told that her vision looked fine and to come back 6 months for a follow up appointment. A few weeks later I still had concerns and called to schedule an earlier follow up appointment and was told there was no availability for over 2 months. I ended up taking my daughter to an optometrist that is part of the InfantSEE program (free evaluations for any child under 12 months) and she was diagnosed as being extremely farsighted during the first appointment. A week later she got glasses and it has changed her life (she has caught up in gross and fine motor development and is so much happier and more engaged). I disappointed that Dr. Nichols missed such an obvious case of farsightedness, especially because of the profound change I have witnessed in my daughter since she got glasses. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr. Nichols and would recommend infants be screened by someone trained in InfantSEE program.

I would never recommend B.Nichols, this is why. My kid (6 at the time) was complaining of headaches, and blurry vision, I brought him to an appointment with Nichols since he works with kids. He said that my kid had a great vision, and maybe he just wanted to wear glasses because they were cool. A year later, the headaches continued so the blurry vision, we brought him to his pediatrician whom recommended to see Nichols again, I brought him and even that my kid certainly could not read and complain of short distance vision, Nichols insisted that he knew that, but that it was not eye related, so we thought it could be neurological, we saw a neurologist, nothing to report, so we did a brain scan, nothing to report. We traveled to Argentina, we knew an excellent ophthalmologist there, after examining him she said that he needed glasses, she could not understand how come a so obvious diagnosis was not done here in Boulder. Since then (almost 3 years after seeing Nichols) my son wears glasses for short distance vision (reading, computer) and NEVER complained again. So it's not only the time that my kid was suffering struggling, but the concern we had thinking this could be neurological, + the time with appointments and the cost. VERY DISSAPOINTED.

I was sad to read the reviews (below) for Dr. Nichols. I have had an awesome experience for myself and my two children. I have been seeing him for my regular eye exams for at least 15 years-probably longer. My daughter insisted she could not see, similar to post below. We had her examined by Dr. Nichols and he stated her vision was perfect. She just wanted glasses because they were cool! This is common in elementary school-aged children! I feel bad for the posters below that had a bad experience. I cannot comment on what happened with their care, but please know my experience was completely different. Dr. Nichols uses the latest techniques to for routine eye exams. In addition, I know he stays current on the latest medical advances in eye care. Dr. Nichols and his practice donates their time to children that are uninsured, which is why I began to visit the practice originally. When I was a school RN, he always took care of the children I saw that I had vision concerns about. Some of them needing complex interventions. The results were always helpful and medically sound. These children were uninsured, (the physician's time was donated) and had no other practice to go to. This is a good reason to go to this practice. -To support their investment in our community!
