If it were not for my disappointment with one of my cataract surgeries, I would rate Boulder Eye Surgeons as a five star office. Their practice has excellent customer service, and I am treated with respect and not like a baby (seems to accompany one as we age). Staff is top notch, and Dr. Nichols is highly skilled, kind and attentive, and takes time to thoroughly explain things. The only reason this is not a FIVE star rating, is because I am not completely happy with one of my two cataract surgeries. I had them 10 days apart and one eye turned out fantastic; the other, not so much. Maybe it is my crazy, lazy eye, just being crazy; but still, it is a bit of a disappointment.

My daughter had a pediatric appointment with Dr. Nichols. We went to him for a second opinion after being brushed off by a previous ophthalmologist who thought there was nothing wrong with her eyes, even though they were clearly crossing! Dr. Nichols correctly diagnosed her so her vision will be corrected now and not risk loss of vision in the eye that crosses, which can happen in toddlers. I wish we'd seen Dr. Nichols first instead of going to Children's, but happy that she's in good care now.

I had a very frustrating experience with this place. The cataract surgery went okay, but I developed double vision immediately after. It was blamed on another health condition I have by my opthalmologist, instead of the surgery. I spent several wasted months trying to resolve this issue instead of getting a proper diagnosis. In addition, It turned I had retinal problems and scar tissue behind the new lens. Further, I learned later from another doctor that the lenses that were recommended for me in the cataract surgery and that cost me nearly $6,000 were ones that should never be prescribed for people with mobility issues. I ended up going to a different surgeon to fix my retina than the partner in this practice, who only backed up the cataract surgeon. It took me nearly a year to find out that I could have gotten a pair of glasses to fix my double vision problems almost immediately. These guys never bothered to tell me it was an option! I would have been HAPPY if they'd just owned up to it and given me a pair of glasses that fixed the problem instead of putting me through hell for a year. I do NOT recommend them.

A busy (because they are very good at what they do), but well organized office. Dr. Keller and the staff are friendly and very helpful and efficient and do a great job of explaining what they are doing for each test. I had cataract surgery there about a year ago. Several years prior to that, I had CK and LASIK procedures done for vision correction. This can sometimes make it difficult to determine the correct prescription for the lenses to be used to replace the ones removed. They have the very latest equipment to determine the prescription as closely as possible and I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. My optometrist that I use regularly said that, "it was really great work" after examining my eyes. Needless to say, I am very happy with the outcome and do not hesitate to recommend this office to anyone.

This is my first time using Boulder Eye Surgeons. I recently had a pre-op appointment for a couple of upcoming cataract surgeries. Dr. Keller and his staff have been fantastic! I always do a lot of my own research prior to any big procedure, so after my appointment I found I had several questions regarding my particular situation and which IOL would be best. I emailed my specific questions to give to Dr. Keller and he called me and patiently gave me his reasoning for how he does each facet of measuring and IOL placement. I was impressed with his knowledge and with how gracious he was about giving me very extensive reasoning for how he does his cataract surgeries. I couldn't be more impressed. I now am not fearful of my upcoming surgeries.

I've been going to their office for over 10 years, the front desk people are welcoming and knowledgeable and help with whatever insurance needs you have. The tech is wonderful in examining my eyes to see if my vision has changed and what revised prescription to go with. Dr. Keller is absolutely the best at viewing and diagnosing anything going on that should be addressed. His vast experience is a comfort and he's a clear communicator which is what I want to hear with something as important as my eyes. I had cataract surgery on both eyes about a year and a half ago. Great results, and I could not have been happier. But! As time went by, I realized my vision was deteriorating, getting "fuzzy" and I began to panic. My one year surgical follow-up appointment was looming, so I held my breath. After about 30 seconds conversation with one of the techs, it seemed a solution was absolutely possible. Turns out, I, along with about 30% of the population had scar tissue from the cataract surgery. Less than 2 minutes with a laser, and wow! Perfect vision. In fact, it's better than it was right after the cataract surgery. I cannot say enough good things about Brian Nichols, and Boulder Eye Surgeons! Love them!

I usually have a great experience at Boulder Eye Surgeons. Yesterday was different because they were late getting to me for my 9:00 am appointment. I made the earliest appointment I could because I had to be in Denver for another appointment. After waiting 10 minutes while they took everyone else in the waiting room, I explained my situation and was told that they were just waiting for a room to be open. After I asked again 25 minutes later they said they were ready for me. But the tech was busy talking to a colleague. The tech was not very friendly and one of my usual tests wasn't done. Previously, the techs have been awesome. Dr. Cuevas explained the results of the tests thoroughly. I am hopeful that this was just a day when the 9:00 am appointments were overbooked and it won't happen in the future.
