This office is great, I've been going here for years without complaint, however, I would not reccomend Dr. Larz Hertzog's and his office to pilots as an AME. His office wouldn't let me be be seen despite having my 8500-8 code in my pocket, they needed to have it before even talking to me; I just had a couple questions before I started the actual exam. Despite having a great history of treatment at this office and knowing some doctors very closely, I had to review this unpleasant experienced trying to get my First Medical at Eye Physicians of Long Beach with Dr. Hertzog's staff and policy. This would have been a one star experience as I wasn't even able to speak with the doctor despite being a longtime patient of the office and having an appointment. However, Dr. Martinez and Dr. Serfano are respectful and great for any ophthalmic treatment/operations. Dr. Martinez performed my lens implants, and 2 years later they're looking and feeling amazing. Five stars for his side of the office!!

I recently lost my usual doctor from Eye Physicians of Long Beach (he moved out of state) - and I was skeptical I would be lucky enough to acheive the same personal/compassionate/knowledgeable level of service from another doctor: I was happily mistaken. Dr. Lars inherited me as a patient and I had my initial appointment a few weeks ago. He took the time to review my file/history before we met, he patiently answered all of my questions - and I *always* have questions! - and he didn't 'talk down to me' the way some doctors do... all very high points when searching for a medical professional of any type/discipline. He was also friendly, he smiled, and he treated me like a person - not a faceless number. Thank you Dr. Lars, and to everyone at Eye Physicians of Long Beach for all that you do. I've been a patient of this modern office for about fifteen years - initially seeing Dr. Stewart Cole (who has retired). A long story involving a change in my insurance brought me to Dr. Cole, who de-prescribed a medication I was taking for ocular pressure. Dr. Donovan, as my regular physician, hasn't seen the need for medication. After several years of careful observation, testing, and monitoring of my elderly (77) eyes, it's been decided to watch and wait. I see fine for an old man - just reading glasses. It is a comfort to have annual visits now - instead of every six months. However - - - if I ever do need aggressive attention, I'm confident this office can and will provide it. I only see Donovan, but I know Dr. Martinez is thoroughly professional as well. And all their staff are careful professionals too, interpreting patients' data for detailed, specialized attention. I've recommended these Doctors to my family - and they are also pleased. The office is busy - that likely means something.

Great Drs. and staff, knowledgeable and friendly, but 2 hours for my tests was too long. I got there a few minutes before my appointment time and waited 30 minutes before my first test and then another 20 minutes and then dilation etc.

Staff was friendly and competent. Optometrist was thorough and had a good sense of humor. Staff for glasses frames took the time to provide several selection choices and repaired my current frames as well. Very good experience.

My appointment was at 3:15pm walked out at 4:15pm. Whatever amount of money that a patient makes per hour...they should be paid that amount that was wasted in that office. Told them to cancel my appointment.

The technicians are knowledgeable of the procedures required to give the patient a thorough eye exam. Dr Donovan is my doctor and he always has time to answer all my questions about my eyes no matter how busy he is. I never feel that I'm being rushed

I would recommend Dr. Lars Hans Hertzog for cataract surgery, he was very patient with my senior citizen wife, and explained everything and answered all our questions. He gives a lot of time to his patients, and never makes us feel like he is in a rush, unlike other doctors. He is very kind.

My first lens implant 10 years ago is still 20/20.This was my second lens implant and everything went very well as did the first time. Dr. Serafano did an excellent job and the nurses at the Reagan Center were very nice and caring. If I had another eye that needed care The Eye Physicians of Long Beach would be the only place I would go. I Highly recommend them.
