I got a new pair of glasses and that didn't help. That's when I went to Dr. Devgan to find out about cataract surgery. As a former medical student of Dr. Uday Devgan at UCLA, I can say firsthand that he is THE BEST cataract eye surgeon, PERIOD. I went on to become an ophthalmologist, and I've had other ophthalmology friends that also say they would have Dr. Devgan operate on their family members without hesitation. So, when it came time for my favorite aunt to have her cataract surgery, I immediately referred her to Dr. Devgan. She had reached a point where she could no longer drive safely either day or night and could barely cook at home. She had waited so long for surgery because she had a "complicated eye" and was very anxious about having surgery. She was extremely nearsighted and had thin, retinas that would make her prone to developing retinal tears. Dr. Devgan was so warm and kind to her during their first preoperative meeting, explaining everything to her in a calm, clear manner. He also took the time to call and email me (and he is very busy!) immediately after her visit to fill me in on the exam findings and plan and reassure me that she would be well taken care of. Due to her retinal condition, he recommended a referral with a retina specialist close to her home as a precautionary measure prior to surgery. When she called, they told her there was no opening with the retina specialist for at least several weeks, and my aunt was very discouraged. But Dr. Devgan emailed the retina specialist and my aunt was able to see him that Saturday! He really goes above and beyond for his patients. The surgery itself was very successful, and as expected, my aunt was a challenging case due to her large eye and extreme myopia. The surgery itself took FIVE minutes, unbelievable! Dr. Devgan sent me the video so I could review it, and it was just perfection - he is a truly a master of his craft. My aunt was so pleased with the results, she booked her second eye a week later (also a success!). My aunt is lucky that she lives near Los Angeles, but I would recommend other family members fly into Los Angeles to have their cataract surgery with Dr. Devgan, he is the best!

I highly recommend Dr. Uday Devgan! I flew in from Ohio to have Dr. Uday Devgan perform my cataract surgery. Because I was born with unusually small eyes and legally blind, my cataract surgery would be a more difficult procedure, with greater risk of complications. Despite this, I had a great outcome with my cataract surgery with no complications. With the lens implant, I can now see without glasses or contacts, which is like a miracle to me! Dr. Devgan is a very highly skilled surgeon who is gifted in many ways. He is a perfectionist who is focused, dedicated and passionate in his work. And, he is a lovely person who is very down to earth. This doctor took the time to respond to my emails and patiently answered all of my questions in a clear and concise way. The whole process is very organized for the patient. Dr. Devgan's office was really nice, with state of the art equipment. The Surgical Center is top notch. No one is more patient, knowledgeable and understanding than Dr. Devgan. He did my cataract surgery recently and I must admit that beforehand, I required a lot of handholding because I had had a couple of bad experiences with another doctor. I was able to communicate my concerns and fears and receive immediate responses to every one of them. He was always calm, reassuring, and positive, with a great sense of humor to boot! I told him what I expected from the surgery and he gave me exactly what I wanted. I can still read without glasses and see far distances too, so I am very happy with the results. I first consulted with Dr. Devgan in 2010 when he carried out cataract surgery on both eyes (separately) with premium multi-focus lens implants into each eye. Dr. Devgan is very caring and quite charming, he really made me feel at ease and confident for the surgery and from my perspective (as the patient) the procedure was amazingly simple, very quick and pain free. The result has been wonderful and as Dr. Devgan promised, I have been able to see everything clearly ! To this day (October 2018) I haven’t experienced any problems with my eyesight and I have never had to wear eye-glasses. I whole heartedly recommend Dr. Devgan to anyone needing cataract surgery, I absolutely trust Dr. Devgan. Recently, I needed to see a specialist for a blocked tear duct that has been the cause of chronic infection on and off for three years. Dr. Devgan is an extremely skilled surgeon who, importantly, also takes the time to thoroughly and patiently explain his diagnosis and his treatment recommendations; a rare combination these days. I was referred to Dr. Devgan regarding a constantly sore eye caused by a cataract surgery that "went wrong". After listening carefully to me, both by phone (he called!) and in his clinic, his examination was then reassuringly thorough, and his explanation of what he saw was clear, as was his carefully weighed decision that further surgery would not be advisable at this time. The fact that he understood why the eye was hurting was information I had not clearly received before, and as everyone well knows, is always a great start in learning to live with such problems. In addition, he confirmed that the morning redness and inflammation, and perhaps some of the soreness, was doubtless a side-effect from the anti-glaucoma medication Latanoprost, which other opthamologists had suggested, but your confidence and clarity in this assessment, and the underlying chemical/biological reasoning, was more understandable and convincing (I'm a PhD Scientist). Importantly, he recommended that I try a very recently approved drop (Inveltys) and graciously provided a sample of emulsion drops to try to decrease the soreness and inflammation. The great news is that this treatment has worked very well! My eye does not hurt very much anymore and the inflammation/redness is much reduced. This problem has seriously and negatively affected the quality of my daily life, and I am extremely grateful to Dr. Devgan for his excellent and considered care and advice. Again, Dr. Devgan, I (and my wife Gail) thank you, and your excellent staff, so very much for your superb care and treatment. I am so very glad to have visited with you, and now know where to go in future if other difficult eye problems arise!

I developed a cataract in my right eye and as it worsened, I knew that the only alternative was to have it surgically removed. However, the thought of eye surgery terrified me. Having been diagnosed with cataract at only 50 years of age, choosing Dr. Devgan for correcting my cataract was the very best decision. He excelled even my high expectations after reading all his outstanding and laudatory reviews, checking out his credentials and visiting a few other cataract specialists. August 3, 2018 I had the distinct privilege and great fortune of having my left eye’s cataract operated by Dr. Devgan in July 2018. But before choosing him as my eye surgeon , I did an extensive research ( to be exact, of 5 years duration ) with the goal of finding the best possible expert, for the surgery on my very complex eye problem. Finally, I came to the conclusion that Dr. Devgan would be the “BEST CATARACT SURGEON” to perform this difficult operation on my left eye ( because of some other associated problems in my particular situation; which made it a very challenging case as whole.) So, I made the appointment to see him . By the way, where I live in the U.S., is almost thousand miles from the city of Los Angeles, but I was ready and determined to have the operation done anywhere in the United States or at any other place in the world for that matter, if I had to, as long as it was going to be done by the most outstanding expert in this field. I am pleased to report that Dr. Devgan did an absolutely beautiful job!, which is only befitting of a master! ( considering the fact that my case was very challenging, which I already knew it, myself, as a physician). And on the day of operation, I had the full confidence and peace of mind, knowing that I was going to be in the most capable hands that there was. Now I can see from that eye with almost a perfect vision without the use of a contact lens and with my glasses only! I lost my right eye in a skiing accident in 1964. I am a pilot and I am very protective of my one eye. I started having difficulty with night driving and I was having problems reading signs at normal distances. I asked my ophthalmologist about my problem and I was informed that this issue was due to cataracts and surgery would be a good option. This is not good news for someone with one eye. Five Stars in not Enough! I have nothing much rave reviews for Dr. Uday Devgan, Karen Mrosko, the other team members at L.A. Sight as well as the Specialty Surgical Center in Beverly Hills. All first rate! As an active 67 year old professional who needs to stare at computer screens all day I could sense that my vision in my right eye was slipping away and figured that Cataract surgery was not far off. I researched several reputable doctors and had the great fortune of visiting L.A. Sight after a particularly poor experience. I walked into the office without any appointment and was welcomed at the front desk with smiles and only had to say a few words before Karen pulled me aside and filled me in on all the relevant details and set up a consultation with Dr. Devgan. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Seriously, My vision was BAD. Cataracts in both eyes, astigmatism. Terrrible! A simple office visit for consultation, the staff is great, setting of an appointment a week later (you need three days of different eye drops) in at 7A out before 9A! Being a physician myself, I have had many patients tell me that within five seconds you know if a nurse cares, if a person enjoys their job, and if someone is good at what they do. After meeting Dr. Devgan I would have to say that I now understand exactly what they mean. My first impression was influenced by being referred to Dr. Devgan from two different ophthalmology services. One service followed me for about four years, until my eyes worsened and it got to the point of my needing a more complex than usual surgery. The attending, the fellow and the resident all pulled up videos of Dr. Devgan’s surgeries online and sat around me in the ophthalmology exam chair as we watched the videos. They all raved about his technique and shared that they would go to him if they had my problem. They all seemed to know that he had invented a new technique for posterior polar cataract surgery that minimized the usual complications. Many members of my family with the same genetic problem have encountered these complications during their surgeries. So yes, I had a little preparation for my initial five second first impression. But I guarantee that regardless of your preconceptions, when you meet this wonderful man, you'll notice it immediately, from his effortless initial rapport, to the way he casually gives you his cell phone number for any further questions you might have. I have a very hard time calling a busy physician, so I emailed him when I had a question and immediately got back a respectful, helpful response, along with such a warm introduction and closure that you felt like it was coming from a friend. He just has that kind of warmth and magnetism. Yes I was completely impressed with the surgery, the surgical suite, his team and my outcome, but mostly it is very rare to meet a person that is so special, so wonderful. Dr. Devgan is an exceptional cataract physician, truly an artist at his trade, a unique individual who takes pride in all things that he does related to cataracts. I had cataracts for a number of years and knew at some point that I would need surgery. When the time came to have cataract surgery, I went to Dr. Devgan. At the office exam, there were comprehensive eye evaluation tests. All I had to do was sit in front of various machines to get the results. Thereafter, Dr. Devgan checked my eyes and took pictures of my cataracts which was fascinating to see, reviewed the results, explained the issues and answered all my questions. I scheduled the surgery and was provided with detailed pre-op and post-op instructions. The cataract surgery was at a surgery center in Beverly Hills. Dr. Devgan removed my cataract and replaced it with a man-made toric lens that compensated for the astigmatism in my cornea. I had the surgery the day before yesterday and my vision is shockingly good. I had very high expectations and the results far exceed my expectations. At my first visit, Dr. Devgan spent a lot of time explaining exactly what was going to happen and how the astigmatism was in my biological lens and in my cornea. I asked a lot of questions (I'm an engineer) and he cheerfully answered all of them. He spent plenty of time with me and I never felt rushed at all. If there would have been a Galaxy, as benchmark, over the five stars I would have rated Doctor Devgan as such. I still could not believe the outcome of the operation. I am the one who had -15 for all almost all my life i.e. for 38 years. Though I got Lasik procedure done in India fifteen years ago still after few year my eyesight deteriorated back to -15 and to make it more worse 4 years ago I got cataract in both eyes. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. DEVGAN! With that out of the way, here’s why: When I needed cataract surgery on both of my eyes, my new ophthalmologist recommended a surgeon I soon found had... committed assault on one of his own employees! Yikes. Naturally, I looked for another surgeon, preferably within my Blue Shield network. Luckily, Blue Shield users had rated Dr. Devgan highly so I went to him. And I’m glad I did. From start to finish, Devgan and his staff were friendly and professional. They kept me informed of all the surgery and pre/post-op details, as well as the pricing and what and would not be covered by my insurance. They even provided free samples of necessary but extremely expensive eyedrops not covered by my insurance. Both surgeries went quickly and smoothly, and I suffered no ill-effects afterward. My post-op vision was EXACTLY as Dr. Devgan had indicated to me beforehand, and my vision is now better than it’s ever been in my life. My cataracts had reached the point where my quality of life had deteriorated greatly. I am 74 and tennis is my passion. My favorite pastime is reading so when it got to the point that I couldn’t make out the words on the page with my left eye I realized I needed to get it checked by Dr. Devgan. I've never written a review for anything before but I really wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Devgan here. All the reviews you're reading here are spot on. I'd say if you're even thinking about Lasik surgery, go in for a consultation. I'm certain you will have the same wonderful experience that I have had. More specifically, I've worn glasses as long as I can remember. Having two very different eyes with severe (off the charts) astigmatism in my right eye, I've always been told that I wasn't even a good candidate for contact lenses, at best a hard contact lens. More recently with the option to try a soft contact lens, I tried contacts for the first time and was disappointed at how cumbersome they were. It just made me want to go back to glasses; and I did. After an enthusiastic referral from someone who had the same surgery from Dr. Devgan, I went in for a consultation. The entire process was clearly explained and in a manner that makes you feel so comfortable as a patient. As other reviewers have pointed out, you can tell Dr. Devgan absolutely loves his job; his enthusiasm is palpable and infectious. Most importantly, he has the world class skill and experience to back it up. The facility is top notch and the staff professional and efficient. The surgery was very fast (maybe 7 minutes tops?), completely painless and with not much to worry about. In fact, I was right back to work the next morning! Amazing. If you thought you'd have to be an eyeglass lifer like me, do yourself a favor and go get a consultation. My only regret is that I didn't look into it sooner.

I have been aware from some time that I should have cataract surgery in both eyes, but continued to put it off for quite some time – it is a daunting decision to let someone operate on your eyes, and the market is flooded by medical professionals touting their expertise, affordability, speed of procedure, and patient satisfaction. Although I investigated 4-5 other practices as options, my first strong impression of Dr. Devgan was one of a high level of professional competency (one that was born out through the entire process) and this led me to a quick decision to have him perform these two procedures. This is turning out to be one of the best medical decisions I have made. As of this writing, I have had the right eye done and am having the left eye done in a few days. Beyond the amazing success of the procedure – within 24 hours the vision of my right eye had exceeded my expectations and continues to improve – the overall experience deserves a very, very high rating and recommendation. And, it was all made so very easy – very light sedation, zero pain (not even any discomfort), done in a professional, efficient, modern outpatient facility (also owned by Dr. Devgan and his partners). He answered all my questions completely, gave me plenty of time to discuss my questions, worries and concerns and even gave me his email to use as I wished. I did, in fact, email him over the weekend and he quickly answered. At the surgery center everything ran timely and easily, and again, I am so pleased at the result. I am a recent East coast transplant to San Diego, CA with a long history of procedures with my eyes. I went to see Dr. Devgan for cataract surgery at about the same time my best friend was consulting another well known eye doctor for the same surgery. From my first consultation with Dr. Devgan and my subsequent surgeries on both eyes (I did my right eye first followed by my left a few months later), I can safely say that he is the best in the business, and I am extremely happy that I made the decision to go with him. I can definitely see the difference regarding my experience with both of my surgeries from that of my friend's. Both of my surgeries were set up with an exact day and time weeks in advance, with no snags even on surgery days and follow-up visits. In fact, Dr. Devgan even accommodated me at an early time before his office even opened for business (on more than one occasion) to help me avoid traffic congestion for my follow-up office visits after the surgeries. My experience with Dr. Devgan has been so positive that I am sad that I won't be seeing as much of him for follow-ups. Apart from being a superb surgeon, Dr. Devgan displayed such a friendly & down to earth disposition from my first visit throughout the surgeries and eventual follow-ups. I was referred to Dr. Devgan for lasik evaluation and surgery. I had been suffering with my contact lenses. The contacts would not stay in my eyes for the love of god so i had to keep changing them couple times a day. One day while driving on the freeway, my left contact fell out & I had to drive home with one eye open & one eye closed! My eyes were dry & I hated wearing eye glasses. The glasses would give me the worse tension headache & overall i was just not a happy camper. I started looking into my options. Went to a few ophthalmologist. Even went to UCLA & had to wait a few hours just to be seen for an evaluation. Then it took them over a week to call me & give me fees & go over possible surgery schedules!!! I was so shocked by their treatment. When i went to Dr. Devgan’s office i was pleasantly surprised by the VIP treatment his whole staff & himself gave me. He immediately put me as ease. Throughout the procedure, i was so relaxed & happy. That day when i went home, i rested, didn’t look at any monitors, didn’t text & didn’t watch TV. The very next day i woke up & i could see!!!! My dream had come true, to wake up & to be able to see was a priceless gift. I was so happy, i even drove myself to his office for my day-1 Post op & it was perfectly fine. My vision, the very next day was 20/15 which is better than 20/20! I couldn’t thank him enough. I went to see him again yesterday for my 1 month Post op check. And everything is perfect. He insisted to see me himself & took some measurements & looked at my eyes with his light & lenses. He is so amazing. Truly how a physician should be. My eyes are considered very high risk for cataracts surgery due to my extreme near-sightedness (-18 on both eyes). Dr. Devgan is not only known for having gifted surgical hands, but he also trains ophthalmology residents, so he is always on the cutting edge of our field. My experience with Dr. Devgan and his office was absolutely perfect. Dr. Devgan has a fantastic bedside manner. At my pre-op appointment I met all of his staff who immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Devgan's surgical planning was precise and spot on. Coordinating my appointments with his staff was pleasant and flexible. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful his staff were, and I only wish I could steal them away to work at my office one day. Any ophthalmologist would be lucky to have them! On the day of my surgery, my refraction was double checked, I was given a light sedative, and given time to relax in a massage chair in a pre-op room. Once I was ready, I was invited into the OR suite. Dr. Devgan has a very unique setup in his OR suite that allows the surgical bed to pivot between the lasers, allowing for a seamless transition for the patient between the laser for the flap creation and the laser for the ablation. As far as I know, his is the only practice to employ such a method and it is genius!!! After experiencing it myself I am convinced that this should be a standard setup at all LASIK offices. Dr. Devgan and his staff made me feel at ease throughout the procedure, which was over almost before it had begun! For me it felt like it only lasted 2 minutes from the moment I lay down on the bed to the moment I stood back up. There was no pain. After coming home and taking a nap, my vision was great! I walked to the grocery store that night and marveled at my new visual acuity. I kept waiting to feel dryness or pain, but only every experienced a mild foreign body sensation that disappeared after 24 hrs. At my follow up appointment the next day I was able to easily read the 20/15 line and even some of the 20/10 line. I felt like I had eagle eyes! Dr. Devgan nailed our target exactly because my new prescription was measured to be plano (0.00 both eyes). Goodbye contacts and glasses! I have been enjoying my stunning vision ever since. In short, Dr. Devgan is an amazing surgeon, and even his fellow surgeons think so. If you need LASIK or cataract surgery, he is your doctor. His staff is also extremely helpful and friendly and will make you feel comfortable and valued.

For the first time in many years, when I look at the trees in front of my house, I notice the individual leaves. When I drive my car, I can read the street names in time to turn on the street, if I want to. I was 37 years old and discovered that I had an early cataract. I was surprised and wanted to understand more about the issue. I visited several eye specialists/ophthalmologists in Vancouver, BC. I am Canadian and thus am eligible for free basic lens cataract surgeries. Well, you get what you pay for. Not one of the doctors in Vancouver took the time to explain the cataract, nor were they overly interested in dealing with it. I could barely see when driving and was a hazard on the road, yet the doctors were in no hurry to complete the procedure. Further the doctors in Vancouver were more impatient/annoyed as they didn’t feel it was necessary to answer any questions. I was referred to Dr. Devgan by a friend of mine who resides in Anaheim. I spoke to Dr. Devgan (I couldn’t believe you could speak to a doctor directly), then read several reviews. I decided to go with him and he went out of his way to meet me on a Sunday as he knew I was flying in from Canada. Uday went through the number of causes of cataract and explained how the corrective lenses work in a way that made sense. He repaired both eyes, and I am extremely happy. He was also the only doctor that noticed I was myopic and it was necessary I go to a retina specialist. Again, no Canadian eye doctor told me this, I would have had no idea. When I went to the retina specialist he already noticed thinning of my retina in different areas and was able to repair it. My parents got their eyes done in Vancouver, both had issues, with lenses being reversed, improper sight and had to go through surgery a few times. For me, I did not want to take a chance with my eyes. Thanks Dr. Devgan, I appreciate everything.
