A terrible place! Their office is totally inefficient, forcing people to wait for unreasonably long times to even see their doctors. I had an appointment today at 9:30am and when I was still waiting to be seen at 11:00am, I walked out angry and late for work. Mcdonald Eye Associates clearly don't value their patient's time and shove large amounts of people into their two waiting rooms, while their staff lounge about, totally ignorant of their patients needs. I do not recommend this place and I will never return myself.

Set initial appointment with Dr Halsted via phone, received information/confirmation letter and robo calls for that appointment. Arrive at Dr office, at the appointed time, on the appointed day to be told my appointment had been re-scheduled without consultation of any kind. Re-scheduled appointment, then immediately received more calls from the Dr office while I was with a client at work, returned call thinking someone my have been calling to apologize for being unprofessional only to have another inspiring exchange, being told "sir, we have 'xyz' number of people working in this office". Her tone conveying annoyance and then saying it was probably the robo caller. I didn't go back. Too bad the service doesn't match the marketing. Needless to say all around time & money consuming first experience and I cannot recommend. Still looking for my first eye Dr.

Docters have been very good. Unfortunately all the followup has been absolutely terrible.. After my appointment, I was sent home with a few contact lenses to try. I called back to the office to get my prescription written and was connected with someone that could take my request. She was out of the office and I had to leave a message. That's basically how the next 4 phonecalls have gone. Always a different person responding. There is absolutely no attempt to even try to help with such a simple thing as writing a prescription. I'm on attempt number 5 (and 3 months later) and after this I am never coming back to this doctors office again. Great medical care undermined by poor administration. I'm sure others may have better experiences, but I'm not impressed.

There are few issues I had with McDonald Eye Associates in Fayetteville, AR. Had my original visit in October 2017 which was pleasant. Got my glasses back in a reasonable amount of time however while the distance vision was not to bad when I got home I could not even read a web page on my 30" monitor. As well that night when I drove to where I was headed the overall glare was terrible and every road reflector look like it was jumping up off the road 3ft high. On second visit they made some corrections and when I got my glasses back again it was more of the same issues as above however slightly less pronounced. Third visit they made some more corrections and I decided to purchase a new frame and try a different style of lens that was supposed to have wider vision fields and better clarity. Again got glasses back in a reasonable time frame however this time all vision fields were cut far to narrow and had to keep shifting my head around to find that sweet spot and even then it was still hard to read web pages. Fourth visit finally figured out that the script was just a little to strong so that was corrected and I traded my new frames for a different frame of the same price and change to a different lens brand. I ended up getting the digital drive safe lenses from Zeiss and I like them pretty well however when I recently got them back, while I can see through them and even drive at night the vision fields, which were supposed to be the widest made, again were far to narrow. Still have to shift my head a bit to find the sweet spot on the bi-focal. Overall the visits were pretty pleasant. Dusty McIver was very patient and worked really hard to get the script right. Most of the problems that I am having are related to the lens manufacturers. All that said the one main issue that I am having with McDonald Eye Associates is with billing. Every single time I went for a visit I made sure whether or not I owed anything and if I did it was paid with my Care Credit Card. As of the final set of glasses I had already paid $719.00 and for the past few months I have gotten a bill from the billing office for $226.00 which would, if paid, bump the final tally to $995.00. Now you would think that after all the trouble I had with the script and the lenses and all the back and forth that the $719.00 would have been sufficient, I mean I don't know anyone that has paid even that much just to get a good set of glasses and that is with all the lens coatings, however there is no way that I am paying $945.00, in fact I still feel that the overall cost for the glasses should have been no more than $500.00. All this is why they only get two stars from me and until I get matters settled with the lens companies I will not be buying another set of glasses for a good long while. If I have to when these glasses are no good I will just by some readers and be done with it.

Everything is great once you get there, very professional and caring, but God forbid you have to contact them through phone. I went for Lasik and got lucky, however my Dad had Cataract Surgery through the VA and it was like pulling teeth trying to get someone to call you back about anything at all. Free business from the government and nobody can return a call to set up an appointment. A disabled veteran had to drive an hour away, wait 20 minutes, and speak directly to the office manager to get an initial appointment. Its ridiculous when you and the VA call repeatedly for days and you still have to physically arrive to make any progress.

I was so scared and apparently was not true.Sounds like they tried to scam me, now they charge more than a copay when I go for first visit it’s no longer $20 it’s $70. AND HEAVEN FORBID YOU WANNA CONTACT HILLARY IN CONTACTS SHE NEVER ANSWERS THE PHONE! Then says well I tried u and went to voicemail.. ya I can’t answer my phone while at work, ur job is to answer the phone ESPECIALLY WHEN IM RETURNING YOUR CALL BACK!! Duuurr

I have had positive experiences with my optometrist during eye exams. However, I have had enough negative experiences with the optical department that I will be seeking care elsewhere in the future. They have been giving me incorrect information regarding the status of my glasses since I ordered them 7 weeks ago. After ordering, I learned that the frames were on backorder at the lab, so I knew there would be a delay. I have called many times since the day they said they’d be ready, and every time I am told a new date they would be ready. This has happened at least 5 times since placing my order. I was told I’d get a call telling me they were ready a couple days ago. I have still not heard anything. This may be a unique situation, but I expect much better communication and customer service than this, especially BECAUSE it is a unique situation. Try them out for eye care, but be aware if you choose to order glasses here.

Very disappointed in this business. I have received a $50 charge for a service I did not receive and they will not work with me on it. They stated that since we had a conversation about the possibility of contacts, that counts as a contact exam/fitting and that it is a charge for if I order contacts through them for that year, which I am not. If there is going to be a charge that insurance does not cover and that will come weeks after the appointment, it needs disclosed while it is happening. I suppose this $50 fee is worth losing my present and future business. My children and I will NOT be going back, for fear of other hidden charges.

I have had positive experiences with my optometrist during eye exams. However, I have had enough negative experiences with the optical department that I will be seeking care elsewhere in the future. They have been giving me incorrect information regarding the status of my glasses since I ordered them 7 weeks ago. After ordering, I learned that the frames were on backorder at the lab, so I knew there would be a delay. I have called many times since the day they said they’d be ready, and every time I am told a new date they would be ready. This has happened at least 5 times since placing my order. I was told I’d get a call telling me they were ready a couple days ago. I have still not heard anything. This may be a unique situation, but I expect much better communication and customer service than this, especially BECAUSE it is a unique situation. Try them out for eye care, but be aware if you choose to order glasses here.

i just hate this place...i have had so much of truble with the staff - they just keep changeing the story back and ford on who the bill was handle with my husband, they fist said that it was because no isurance on his file...then i call and they later said oh wait that not right he was see in here with a medical condition - WHAT!...then i said ok - give me the breack down for the bill and i will pay our pat and the vision insurance can pay theres and a lady (not even want to said her name) that sorry it will have to stay as it is..so another lady explang to me that those type of errors can hapend but there can be fix ...never call me back eather...finaly i call back at the next day for nothing they are now on the same page so here i am stock with a stuped bill just for nothing bucause that is what the did to my husbad - nothing - thanks DR Waggoner - and i hope i spell your name correct

It took exactly 7 weeks to get my daughters glasses back. When she went to pick them up they said they were too busy to give a first time adjustment. She would have to wait till another day and come back again. This is her first pair of glasses. We had to go from there to Walmart to get them adjusted because they were so crooked on her face. Jay McDonald did my RK in 1992 with awesome results. I came back for Mono-lasik surgery in 2003, again with awesome results. At that point I would not even consider seeing anyone else for my eye care issues. I made an appointment to have a lasik screening in mid March. I arrived on time and was promptly seen by the screener. Following the screening, I was told that the Dr. would evaluate the results and I would be contacted with a proposed resolution for my problem. That is the LAST I have heard from them. I waited 4 weeks and called and asked to speak the lady who did my screening. I was told that she was with a patient and would call as soon as she was free. I was NEVER called again. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. Jay McDonald didn't do business this way.

Had the worst experience ever! From the minute we stepped back, the assistant “Chris” seemed very frustrated. Took my 4 year old and they didn’t have the proper equipment for my son. We had to stand my son on a chair in a very uncomfortable position for one part of the exam. Not to mention, the assistant’s hostility and frustration grew by the minute because my 4 year old wasn’t acting up to his expectations. Well sorry Chris, he is ONLY 4 years old. If you don’t like your job, do the patients a favor and quit. If there were going to be a lot of “well I don’t know if this will work” or not having the proper things for a 4 year old and younger exam, they should have told me the minute I scheduled the appointment to take my son elsewhere. Don’t and will never recommend this place to ANYONE! Treated very unfairly!
