Love the doctor I saw but some of the employees that adjust your glasses are very snooty acting. You help people pick out frames for crying out loud!!! I walked in today and the lady was all frowned up. I was dressed in my nursing scrub!!! I should have given her $20 to buy a new attitude. I am thinking changing provides because of my experience today. I definitely going to share my experience with others.

I had my yearly eye exam at this business yesterday. I was very impressed--the staff was friendly and professional and the atmosphere was very positive. I probably ended up waiting a bit over 15 minutes after the time my appointment was scheduled, but that's probably to be expected at any location. Overall, I'm very pleased with James Eyecare and Optics Gallery. I would recommend it.

Dr. Dolven is great! I come in for my yearly eye exam, and she and the staff are always great! She answered all my questions, and I loved how she related not cleaning your contact lenses to not brushing your teeth! I like the handwritten reminder cards for appointments as well!

It took me two weeks to get an appointment which is okay i guess. After assuring me that they take my insurance plan on the phone, they told me that they didnt take it once i was there and waited 40 minutes. I asked if they called the insurance company, response was "oh no". I knew for fact that they did take it, but didnt have time to argue the ladies at the receptionist desk. They dont deserve to waste peoples time, giving false information. aweful place, with shitty customer service. I will never go back.

Best experience I've had having my eyes examined. I have been wearing glasses since the mid-90's and have been to many doctors over the years. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Everything was explained well and all of my questions were answered. I came in with some concerns and left reassured that my biggest issue was just needing a new prescription. Great job! I'll be back!

Awesome place. Can’t say enough. Needed glasses due to eye strain after starting a new job. Everyone was there was super nice and helpful and ensured that I was taken care of!!! On top of that I got the most amazing frames that I am constantly receiving compliments on. I highly recommend them!!!

I consider James Eye Care to be, without question, my best medical provider. Over the last year, this team has tirelessly worked to fit me for multi-focal contacts and it has been a challenge. I’ve tried at least four (4) different contact brands and eight (8) different prescriptions over the past year. Instead of giving up, however, they believed a solution could be found. What is impressive is they contacted ME when they discovered a new product solution, ordered trials for me and left a message they’ll be at the front desk. When I told them I was on vacation, they then offered to FedEx them to me. I do not think I have ever had a medical provider contact me to solve an old problem with a new solution and then follow through like this. Who does this!? It certainly isn’t so I’ll write some pithy review. Instead, I believe it is a desire to be exceptional. From the front desk with Brittany & Tameka, to contacts with Caitlin & Abby, to the eye glasses fittings with Yana, and to Dr. Dolven who refuses to give up, this team is exceptional both in competence and delivery of service. Well done.

I just moved in to Little Rock and I was not sure which eye clinic was a good one to have my eye exam done. Got one of the best. I booked the earliest date possible which was a month before my appointment. When I came in, I just had to fill out a form, wait for a few minutes and before I knew it, I was done. Dr. Dolven was really nice as well as the staff. She made sure everything was clear before she let me go. Very satisfying first time experience! :)

Dr. James is an awesome optometrist. I have been wearing glasses for over 30 years. He explained how the eye ages and changes that may occur in layman's terms. My two complaints concern the support staff. When I checked in, the receptionist got ruffled when I only submitted my vision insurance, and not my medical insurance also. I was in for a routine check up. There was no need for the office to have my medical insurance info during this visit. None of my prior optometrists required this information. After my exam, I was directed to a light haired tech who was to help me with my eyeglass order. I explained that I wanted to order a well-known brand that they did not have in stock. I knew the brand, the model name, and frame size. She cut me off mid-request and said they couldn't order frames they didn't have in stock. This was surprising to me. My last optometrist had a smaller office in a smaller town. If there weren't frames on hand that I liked, the eyeglass tech would let me sit at his computer and search styles until I found something I liked enough to wear every day. After she cut me off mid-sentence, I asked if I could take my prescription to go. As she took my paperwork to be stamped with the doctor's signature, I heard her complaining to the receptionists that I wanted to take my prescription with me. As she handed me the paper, she said, "Here you go." I thanked her, and she started to say something, but stopped, and walked away. Five days ago I ordered my daughter's glasses from the same business. The front office was staffed with a different receptionist and different eyeglasses tech. They were super-nice, which was why I returned for my prescription and glasses. Since customer service is hit and miss at this business, I will not return after I pick up my daughter's order and she has them fitted. I wouldn't recommend going here if you want the option to order a frame they do not carry, or to have consistently pleasant service.

Dr. Dolven is wonderful. She took the time to clearly listen to all of my concerns. I never felt rushed. She went over every little detail with me about all of my eye tests and images. The office is very comfortable and inviting. The girls in the office seemed to really enjoy helping me pick out some frames that looked good on my face shape and will be comfortable. It's not the cheapest place in town but there is something to be said for personal service and a place that is willing to take time for their customer. -Sarah Barger

They set up appointments and fail to have their staff show up for them... but they sound nice on the phone. So ask yourself, there's good (and bad) reviews for James Eyecare. Maybe you'll have a good experience. But honestly... what if they don't show for you too? Do you really want to take that risk? To make it to an appointment you likely will take time off from work, or re-arrange your life in other ways. Maybe you have a family (doesn't everyone?). Do you really want to even take the chance they won't show up to your appointment? There's plenty of other places to handle your eyecare needs... so should you risk your time with these people? I certainly don't think you should, and I will never do so again. You might also want to take a closer look then I did on those "positive" reviews. They were posted around when this place opened its doors, and are a year out of date. All recent posts appear more honest about the level (or lack thereof) of experience you can expect to have.

Great service time, and had an amazing experience with their staff. The doctor was more than helpful and explained all steps in the exam with great detail. When it came time to pick out my first frames, ever, I had help from someone who honestly took their time to help me choose something that would work with my face and my style perfect. Thanks a ton! They have some amazing frames, amazing people and the lady in the sells department is so beautiful, she makes me want to buy all the frames just to keep looking at her. Maybe that sounded a little strange. She is pretty though. Anywho, this place is the best. I always have a pleasant experience when I go there.

First timer at James Eyecare. I just recently moved to Little Rock from out of state, and was referred to this office by a former Employee (go Natalie!) I could not have been more happy with my time at J.E. My appointment was at 8:45am, and with the paperwork, exam, discussion, lens choosing, etc. I was done within an hour! Everyone was extremely nice to me, and the office was very professional. I won't be going elsewhere! Thank you James Eyecare & Optics Gallery!

I am normally extremely pleased with James Eyecare. However, today I have a very frustrating experience. My daughter was in the waiting room and needed to fill out new forms. She had a question about our insurance and called me. I was not sure what was needed so I attempted to call the practice. I called eight times in five minutes and no one answered. From the phone menu, I tried appointments, optical center, business office, and even pressed zero to see what would happen. No one ever answered. When I pressed zero, the recording informed me that the office was closed. I then called my daughter back and asked her to hand the phone to someone at the front desk. She was informed that they had all of the information they needed so I didn't need to speak with them. I asked to speak with them anyway because I was frustrated that while my daughter sat in their waiting room I was unable to get anyone to answer the phone. I was informed that they did not answer the phone because a patient was at the front desk. When I am a patient waiting at a front desk, I do not consider it rude if an employee answers the phone and says "please hold". As a patient calling in, I do consider it rude that no one answers the phone even when no one else was on the phone. And this still does not explain why neither the optics center nor the business office answered the phone.

Best experience ever for an eye exam! All staff was very attentive and caring. I have never had a more thorough eye exam and better explained to me than the one I had with Dr. Dolven. I will definately be returning for future eye care. Thank you James eyecare staff and Dr. Dolven.

Each of them were also friendly, and worked with me to find the best eye wear that worked for me. By far the best visit I have ever had with an optometrist!

I have consistently had the most incredible experiences at James Eyecare. Every staff member is knowledgeable. I received a lengthy consult left VERY informed about he possibility of LASIK. When I learned I was a good candidate, I went through with the procedure. Follow up from the surgery (performed by TLC) with James Eyecare has been easy, informative, and valuable. I’ve had a successful recovery only because of the attention I’ve recieved from the team here.

DO NOT GO HERE! Dr. Julie is awesome, they have the best technology, and awesome frame choices but their support staff is rude, immature, & not accommodating. I have been a customer of James Eyecare since 2009. Last year I was called by James Eyecare to confirm my appointment & my insurance. I provided the requested information & the young lady told me that she would call me if there were any issues verifying my insurance (as it had recently changed). I begged her to please do that, as I had a 4 week old baby & had to make special arrangements to make the appointment. I never received a call & showed up for my appointment. I was taken back and 15 minutes into my appointment I am told they don’t accept my new insurance. I didn’t complete my exam obviously. So, I’ve left my child & made special accommodations for no reason due to the lack of attention to detail. No big deal - I go home & research where I can go instead. Fast forward a little over a month and I call to get my most recent prescription information for comparison purposes. Dani is condescending and says at least 5 times “I’m not sure why you want us to send this because it’s expired & it’s not going to do you any good.” I don’t feel the need to explain to Dani my purpose for wanting MY medical records so in spite of her unprofessional demeanor I kindly ask her to mail my records from a Little Rock address to another Little Rock address. 7 business days pass and I have not received them. I call again and speak with Dani again unfortunately and she advises that it’s been sent and I should receive them. I say thank you and wait 2 more business days. I call today and Dani answers. I respectfully ask to speak with someone else. I unfortunately get Yana who was even ruder than Dani. I explain what I need. She says “they were mailed and that since there’s a problem with your mail you should just come up here and get them”. I explain that I don’t feel I should have to do that and I don’t have the time to do this. I try to explain my less than stellar experiences over the course of the last 2 months and she scoffs and hangs up in my face. I call back immediately & she answers and I ask to speak to a manager. It’s 5:15 (they close at 5:30); she laughs and leaves me on hold for 6 minutes. I realize she probably is just going to leave me on hold until they close. I get in my car (wasting time I don’t have to waste due to Yana playing games) & call back & say to Yana she can get me to the manager or I’ll just request one when I arrive in 5 minutes. I get Natalie and explain how condescending Dani was and also Yana’s behavior. Natalie proceeds to say “I’m sorry you felt they were disrespectful”. I repeat - DO NOT GO HERE! Dr. Julie is awesome, they have the best technology, and awesome frame choices but their support staff is rude, immature, & not accommodating. Every since Ms. Victoria left this place has become classless & nothing but a headache. We were going to change our insurance to come back to this location but I’d rather order designer frames full price online and take them to another location for the lens than to give a penny to this business that employs these types of women. Choose somewhere else......trust me.

I originally wrote a less than stellar review, and upon reading that review, the clinic reviewed the criticisms made and has positively addressed them. The clinic has also reached out to me to resolve my outstanding issues, which we are in the process of doing. It has been clear to me that those in charge of the clinic care about their perception and about their customer's satisfaction.

I like both the Doctors. The staff are friendly albeit unorganized and have been terrible with follow through. I ordered contacts and glasses. The glasses were supposed to be in about a week. I received a text message saying my glasses were in, but when I drove back up to the clinic my glasses were, in fact, not in. So I wasted a trip up there due to the staff's miscommunication. The frames hadn't even been received. I was told that they would check on why my frames were delayed and call me back. I never heard back from them. I had to call and inquire again and was told that there was a miscommunication about who was going to notify me. I was advised that it will be another week before I get them. So by the time I get them it will have been about 3 weeks since I placed the order, which is ridiculous. I probably won't be ordering eyewear from them again.

These guys sent me one text to confirm an appointment a month in advance. No other warnings or requests were sent and then they cancelled me with still two weeks to go. It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where the restaurant took his reservation, but didn't hold the reservation. I think I've missed one appointment in my life and it still bothers me. I would not have missed this one. It's been five months and nobody has ever called to see if I'm even alive.
