I was referred to Dr. Newman after finding out I had a cataract in my left eye. I was very nervous and not sure what to expect - but the whole experience was wonderful! Everyone there was super helpful (and nice) during the whole process. Dr. Newman, Diane and Susan all took the time to go over my surgical options and I felt very comfortable making my decision. My surgery was successful and I could not believe the follow up from the staff and Dr. Newman himself! As others have mentioned he called me directly the night of my surgery to see how I was doing. I had access to him via cell phone and whenever I had a question I could call or text - and he would respond immediately. I hope I don't develop a cataract in my other eye - but if I do, I know I'm in good hands with Dr. Newman! I cannot recommend him and his staff enough!

I would not recommend him to anyone... they informed me my visit would be covered under my insurance as a medical claim and they said they took my insurance. I received a bill from Newmans office months later for $450...$450???? My insurance company said they were out of network, all in all I ended up paying $265 to go there and wait for a really long time to be told by Newman that my blurry spot could be stress or a tumor...really? Thanks for that Mr. Newman. Shady person, who rips people off. So sad...

I had PRK done on my eyes. I was happy with the work that Doctor Newman did. He was kind and all that stuff. He was completely professional in his work. The one thing that REALLY bugs me about this place, though, is the supporting staff. They Most of them are not very personable people over the phone and in person. This bugged me enough that, had this place not been the only place with in 200 miles to accept the discount my insurance offers me, I would have gone somewhere else.

Worst optical center ever! The staff is extremely rude and mean. Waiting for over an hour for a scheduled appointment doesn't even seem to phase the staff nor have they done anything to rectify the situation. I would avoid this clinic at all costs and never recommend anybody go there... unless of course you are retired and have loads of time to kill. The most unprofessional practice I have ever seen in my life.

My family has seen Dr. Newman since the '90s. Dr. Newman is precise and cares for his patients. His work is meticulous and gentle mannerisms relaxes you when having procedures done. The office staff is warm and welcoming. We feel like family. We moved to the far west side of town and drive 40 minutes to their office. Dr. Newman is the best!

My husband had cataract surgeries and IOL implants on both eyes, a month apart. The experience was wonderful, due to the brilliance of Dr. Newman’s expertise and thorough follow-up care. When the optometrist referred him to Newman Eye Center, I began extensive research into the surgery and local doctors performing it. Dr. Newman is considered top in the field, and for good reason. And when was the last time you were given a doctor’s personal cell number in case there were problems after business hours? Additionally, everyone on the office staff treated us professionally and with kindness. Even the surgical center staff where thee operations were performed were great. Not only was the experience positive, my husband now has almost perfect 20/20 vision! What a difference between dealing with large impersonal eye care “factories” vs. a smaller, specialized, expert level “boutique.” We would never consider ever going elsewhere for our eye care!

He even called me after my surgery to see how I was doing. i will be returning soon for cataract surgery on my left eye. I do not have any concerns that things will not go well.

I went to them for a cataract surgery. After my first visit they scheduled my follow-up visit and my surgery right then. After the follow-up they explained all the risks, quite a lot for my type. I thought about it a free days and decided to not take the risk and called to cancel the surgery appointment. I have NEVER been spoken to audio ride by any doctors office in my life! Like my surgery was the difference between life and death for their company. And no, it was not a last minute cancellation. I had planned on using them for glasses and later revisiting the surgery idea but I will not step for in that office again.

I am one day post cataract surgery on my left eye and I am 20/20!!!!!! That's what I said...20/20!!!!!!!! From the minute I walked into Dr Newmans practice I was treated with respect from every one of his staff.. I hit the jackpot when I was taken care of by Sue..I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! She was kind, caring and her meticulous measurements and pre op testing made me feel completely confident that the surgery was the right decision.. . She treated me and treats every single patient like we are her family. I feel like I am on cloud nine and now I can SEE where i'm stepping!! YAHOO!!!!! Dr. Newman was so calm and professional in the operating suite and I felt absolutely nothing during the entire procedure..I can't wait until my right eye is done..Honestly between Dr. Newman's calm experienced demeanor, Sue's incredible professional and direct and intelligent manner and Debbie's insane ability to keep everything on track I would recommend Dr. Newman to everyone at the top of my lungs..THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND EXTREMELY RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called to make an appointment for my mother, they first had to call us back because the appointment lady was "TOO BUSY" and would call back. When she called back she said she didn't take our insurance, I advised her that's okay we would just pay CASH, she said they don't take our insurance and HUNG UP THE PHONE.. Apparently Dr. Newman doesn't like Cash payments. CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESN'T EXIST AT THIS OFFICE.

Dr. Newman screwed up my left eye during cataract surgery; I now see much worse than before I had the surgery and now have been referred to another Doctor as he says he can no longer help me. He still charged me the full price. Bad Doctor!!!

I had my laser eye surgery with Dr. Newman about 4 months ago. I wanted to wait until I was fully healed to leave my review. Dr. Newman explained PRK vs. Lasik. I had never heard of PRK before and wasn't aware there were multiple options for corrective surgery. I decided to go with the safer option of PRK. We met at the surgery center and everything went very smoothly. PRK takes a little longer for your eyes to heal but everything turned out exactly as Dr. Newman said it would. I can see perfectly now. It is as everyone says - life changing. The pricing was super reasonable and I recommend them to everyone looking to have corrective eye surgery! All of my follow up appointments have been included, easy to schedule and thorough. Dr. Newman always asks if I have any concerns and makes sure to spend time answering my questions. I'm happy to say I do not have to deal with contacts anymore!!

Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Newman and his staff at the North Scottsdale facility. Came in tfor a cataract evaluation in one of my eyes. Everyone was friendly, professional, and caring. Sue, with the pre-op questions and pre evaluation was so experienced and sweet as well. Emily, is great with all the post-op tests and personable. Everyone there was rude. The Dr. Newman was unprofessional and dismissive. The nurse was able to give me a clearer answer about what was going on than he was. He was acting like I was wasting his time for being there. At one point when I was paying, he walked away mid-conversation and came back *litterally chewing something he had eaten as he was talking to me*. The lady who cashed me out was super rude and unhelpful too. The only person there who I interacted with there with professional behavior was the receptionist, who was very sweet had very good customer service. Everyone else I met was awful. Do not recommend.

Dr. Bruce Newman has been my ophthalmologist since 1993. Due to a cataract in my left eye I lost confidence in my ability to drive, or even walk down steps. Dr. Newman performed cataract surgery, not only taking care of the cataract, but taking the time to do the complex calculations to give me mono vision. By doing this he was able to correct my vision to the point where I can now see near and far. At the age of 69 I only need very mild reading glasses, which I only need if I'm reading for an extended period of time. Dr. Newman literally changed my life. Very customer sensitive care. Appointment friendly to your needs. Dr. Newman is bedside friendly and gentle. He listens to your needs and makes it happen. Unlike, the doctors that reschedule you for a follow up. He explains your condition thoroughly as well as answers questions. Hands down consultation . No medical assistant answering medical questions . Or a nurse rescheduling you to move on the next patient. As a retired nurse, that's huge in my choice of doctors !

I have been seeing Dr Newman for over six years. I have had several procedures with fantastic results. My initial visit was to evaluate me for cataract surgery on my left eye. During my initial visit, I found Dr Newman to be extremely thorough in his evaluation and recommendations for this procedure. He explained all of my options and the costs associated with the various options. His staff is very professional and friendly, who provide excellent support and followup. After the first surgery I had to wait two years before the right eye needed cataract surgery. Since then, I am able to read without glasses, something I never thought could happen to a person my age. I can also drive safely at night. I can't say enough about Dr Newman and his staff. This has provided a positive change in my life.
