I was beyond impressed with my experience with Dr. Lu & his staff Gia & Lisa.I was completely blown away by how Knowledgeable helpful caring and kind Dr. Lu was. After my first consultation, he took his time to explain to me that I had droopy eye lids & how surgery can fix both eye lids top & bottom. I've had 3 procedures done by Dr.Lu so far I'm looking forward to my 4th procedure with him this coming April. My appointment ran on time I highly recommend Dr. Lu

I have only been a patient here for a little over a month, but the wonderful care I have received makes me feel like I have been part of the family for a while. I first made an appointment after I had pretty much scoured my nearby in-network opthalmologists with absolutely no luck. I had a pretty bad cause of exotropia (aka outward lazy eye) that was causing intense migraines almost day in and day out. I had decided it was finally time to explore my treatment options. When I came across Eye Consultants of AZ, I was amazed at how quickly and easily I was able to make an appointment. Literally within the next day. Most providers I had spoken to had a waiting list until at least July. My initial consultation went extremely well and I was able to set up a surgery date within the month. It's been about a week since I had the surgery and it has literally changed my life. For the first time in years I don't have migraines or double vision. Dr. Lu is extremely knowledgable and has the best bedside manner I have ever seen in a provider. He takes the time to listen to your concerns, explain your condition, and go over ANY and ALL treatment options. He is very kind and friendly and always has a smile on his face. Also, his office staff are amazing and will be there to help you every step of the way! He will be the only opthalmologist I will trust from here on out! THANK YOU DR. LU!

After consulting with other eye care providers I chose Dr. Lu for my cataract surgery. He came highly recommended and his experience and reputation are unsurpassed. There are none better than Dr. Lu. He explained what would be happening in easy to understand terms and showed me images of my eyes. The surgery was completely painless. In addition to cataract surgery he also corrected my astigmatism so that I no longer need glasses of any kind. Dr. Lu is amazing! My daughter had an eye emergency on the weekend, so we called Dr. Lu's urgent care number. Dr. Lu answered his own phone, and he and his wife met us at his office in under an hour-even though our family members were not current patients. In addition, Dr. Lu was going out of town that afternoon and had a tight schedule. It was amazing! My daughter received the best treatment, and Dr. Lu and his wife were so nice. I highly recommend him!

I scheduled an appt. 1 week out and was apparently sent a message 2 days prior that it had to be rescheduled because the only Dr. Had an emergency surgical procedure. Me and my daughter will have to wait tik reschedule. Missed work and school. Ouch! I will just find another practice. Iwas referred to this place so maybe it was just an isolated incident. Nonerheless... I believe what they've presented.

Excellent doctor and staff alike! Very friendly environment, they are very punctual and respected my time so I was able to count on my scheduled appointment, and the doctor is not only an expert in his field but he explained my problem very well so that I could understand what he was doing and I could take an active role in my recovery. He took no chances with my ocular shingles, he made time to see me as things developed, was very thorough and took a very hands-on approach to all the tests that needed to be done. I'm extremely pleased with him, his staff and the quality of care I received. I will definitely continue to see him for all my eye care needs.

I just took my 3.5 year old into see Dr. Lu for an irritated eye (caused by a sibling's poke earlier). We were able to get an appointment right away, and had a very quick check-in, with virtually no wait time. He came into the exam room and was very playful with my daughter and evaluated her eye without her even knowing it. He totally understood the attention span of a 3 year old and didn't push it at all. He was engaging and kind. We were really happy with our appointment.

At almost 73 years of age, I am getting "too familiar" with doctors these days, and we all appreciate help with our health. I am, though, very particular when it comes to my eyes, and when told by two optometrists that I was losing vision from my cataracts, I admit I panicked a bit... and spent countless hours researching doctors. I have many physicians in my immediate family and they all tell me to "do my research." When I came across "Eye Consultants of Arizona" and Dr. Lu's background, I was impressed, but still somewhat leery. At first he seemed very serious, but he put me to ease with his confidence and all his assistants were equally caring. I had complications, but the outcome was fantastic! Most impressive was that this outstanding surgeon was involved in overseeing or directly supervising every step of my procedure; and, as I said, I had complications that included eye infections, oily tear ducts, conjunctivitis, and then serious astigmatism on top of my congenital Asian cataracts. All was very caringly resolved! I could not be happier with this fine surgeon and his wonderful practice and the care that I received... I don't give 5 star ratings that often, but if I could, I would give them a 10! I just feel so fortunate to have been cared for by this fine practice. Thank You, Dr. Lu and team!!

Dr. Lu is awesome! I had a retina reattachment surgery in 2006 due to a sport injury in my right eye. I didn't do much survey before the surgery and the surgery was not successful I have to say, my vision was poor since then (20/70?). After 8-9 years the vision got worse due to the cataracts development from that retina surgery....anyway I did a lot of research online this time and I eventually chose Dr. Lu after visiting his office. Dr. Lu treats me like a family who explains my conditions in details and what the options are available and what he thinks the best. The surgery was very successful, my right eye vision is close to 20/40 now, even better than the condition right after the retina surgery! thanks Dr. Lu!

I never have good experiences when I visit eye doctors. I feel like eye doctors always try to up sell me. I went and saw DR.LU I have to say it was a great experience. I got an eye exam and glasses and spent half as much as I expected. The staff is very friendly from the time I walked in till I left!

My father had suffered from severe eye pain for several months. Two opthamologists were unable to help him even though they tried numerous medications. We went to see Dr. Lu based on the many 5 star reviews on line. Dr. Lu knew instantly what the problem was and did an office procedure that immediately relieved the pain in the eye! My father was so happy and is continuing treatment at home. Dr. Lu is a miracle worker and we are so happy that we went to see him! I have already recommended him to friends.

I saw Dr. Lu a couple of days ago for an eye exam to check for herpes zoster in my eyes since blurriness is a precursor symptom before a breakout. My naturopath, Dr. Regino, referred me to him. He is very nice, thorough and spent time with me, and the students who were there, explaining the types of herpes virus. I was diagnosed with herpes simplex not zoster which was diagnosed previously by another provider. He performed the optomap imaging on my eyes which revealed healthy eyes with no disease. I was very happy to hear that. He provided a new prescription for preventive measures for any herpes simplex recurrence. His entire staff, the students and his son, who is following in his footsteps, were extremely friendly and helpful. He is the best specialized Ophthalmologist I've ever been to. I feel safe in his care. I'm grateful for the referral and happy to call him my "Eye Doc". Thank you Dr. Lu!

I was referred to this office by my PCP. I have nothing to say regarding the actual doctor, as I never met him. However, I have plenty to say about the staff. My appointment was at 1:30. I arrived at 12:50, knowing there would be paperwork involved. I had tried to get information as to what insurance information I needed for this appointment (I have health and vision insurance, but this was to be medical so I wasn’t sure if I could use my vision in conjunction) over the phone when I scheduled it, but the person on the other line didn’t know, and advised I ask when I come in. In the paperwork there are several pages that address additional costs as mandatory, even though most are optional anywhere else. One particular area addressed a $40 procedure, marked as mandatory, that stated you may be billed and then reimbursed if insurance covered it. Basically the “mandatory” procedures that you have to pay upfront was adding an additional $80 or so to an already expensive specialist visit. I needed to know more about what my insurance was covering so I knew what I actually had to pay upfront. I approached the receptionist and asked about what was covered. She stated she didn’t know (she must have been who I talked to on the phone) and asked another employee about this. This employee, I’m still not sure what her employment role is, as she spent most of her time around the receptionist desk chatting, stated that my vision would definitely cover the procedures, but when I asked about using both she said she would check. I finished the paperwork and sat down to wait at approximately 12:55. Around 1:15 an older couple came in. The woman checked in and was then called back in about 5 minutes. At this point, approaching my appointment time, I went back to the receptionist desk (where the receptionist and same employee from other were chatting) and asked about my insurance coverage. The employee stated she would check and left at about 1:20. 1:30 1:40 1:50 2:00 hits. The employee had come out to talk with the receptionist numerous times. Neither one said anything to me about my insurance, or why it was running so late. Not even an insincere apology for the wait. I went to the reception desk and told her I needed to reschedule. The employee who was there talking, again, said “Oh but your file is the next to the next!” I’m sorry, what? Not a single patient had come in, in over an hour, other than the lady called back at 1:15. Who was next, if not me? I was NEXT to next? I again informed her that I wanted to reschedule. She asked when, I advised her a weekend day would be better, as I had to take off work to go there and waste my time. She then stated they were open M-F only. I informed her she could cancel the appointment then, because I wouldn’t be using their facility ever. Probably the most annoying experience I’ve ever had, especially at an eye doctor. If that’s how the staff runs the front office, I don’t want to know what happens in the back. I’d give 0 stars if I could.

I am a very satisfied patient of Dr Lu's since November 2015 and his staff Gia, Lisa and the other nurses in the office. Dr. Lu is the most awesome! Eye specialist I have ever known, he cares deeply for my eye care and goes over and beyond any doctor I know, making sure my eyes are cared for. Just an example I moved to Chandler from Tucson where I was under eye care with another caring staff of doctors, I was on so many medications for my eyes due to eye surgeries I've had. When I met Dr. Lu, and after he examined my eyes, he took a great interest in my eye care when no one else would. "Thank you, Dr. Lu" Dr. Lu managed to ween be off all but one eye drop which was for glaucoma. Recently, Dr. Lu, put a shunt in my eye and it is a blessing to me how he continues to care for me and my eye care. So if you are looking for a caring and loving Doctor, look no further Dr. Lu, is a one of a kind eye specialist doctor you will never find another like him. MY DOCTOR LU!

I made an appointment with Dr. Lu because I had doctors freaking out left and right about drastic changes in my vision accompanied by migraines - those doctors told me I had to go to neuro asap. Went to a neuro and was told to go to a neuro ophthalmologist. Since the office visit costs were adding up from jumping around and every doctor made a big deal out of what was going on, I thought I’d come here based on reviews and at least rule out the possibility it was JUST an eye issue. Sure thing, Dr. Lu and his staff took GREAT interest in what was going on with me and what I had been through already, did an extremely thorough exam and explained to me exactly what was going on and that it definitely was NOT a neuro problem. To say I am grateful is an understatement. Thank you, guys for helping me and hopefully putting an end to night-blindness and the horrific migraines!

I visited Dr. Lu's office on January 18th, 2017 and I am 100% satisfied with the whole experience. Dr. Lu, took the time to explain in full detail all about my situation, showing and proving his great experience and skills. He is fluent in spanish which in my case was a plus. The office team, very polite and knew exactly what to do, so no waist of time at all. Place, all areas nice and clean. Lots of equipment were used and looked updated.
