Needed a YAG procedure. In Idaho you go in they look at eye then do procedure. It takes from check in to leaving 30 minutes. They want me to drive 109 miles for an examination then return latter for procedure. No wonder health costs have sky rocketed. It is this kind of inefficiently that is costing everyone too much. A YAG is not complicated, difficult, dangerous, or time consuming. The time to do a YAG is about 2 minutes. Find an efficient Doctor.

Last time I went in for the 'medical exam' (medical insurance) and no vision screen (no vision insurance). I was fine with that and so were they. This year, I scheduled my appointment weeks ago. I carefully explained that my medical insurance makes me see my doc, get a referral, get pre-auth, then make my appointment. I explained I would not see my doctor for months (would schedule medical exam at that time) and had no vision insurance so I just wanted the vision exam aka 'refraction' and would be paying cash out of pocket. I was placed on hold, then scheduled. Well my appointment was today. I received a voicemail yesterday insisting I was scheduled incorrectly. When I spoke with them this morning they were very dismissive, did not apologize and insisted they "COULD NOT" do just refraction. I agreed to go elsewhere but then called back and asked for the office manager. The same girl answered and instead of transferring me, she declared that the office manager was aware and they couldn't help me. I kept asking for the office manager and she kept arguing and talking over me. I had to yell over her to get her to stop and get the office manager. Apparently, the office manager (who was nice and professional) would have at that point "allowed" me to do refraction only (already confirmed when I scheduled) but I was so upset that I was talked over and argued with for almost two minutes (when all I wanted was the manager) that I have decided to not go back. Hopefully after making the entire situation clear they will train their staff better - Maybe leave notes if refraction only was already cleared or transfer to the manager if someone isn't happy and asks for them... They ruined my day and I still need a vision exam.

First and foremost if I had the option to not put a star up I would. No stars. I can not explain how frustrating my interactions have been with the people that work here. I lost a contact before my prescription expired. But they tried to tell me I needed an eye exam before ordering a new one. A 90 dollar charge. I told them that my prescription was not expired yet. I finally won that battle ( 4 calls later). They ordered the contact for me, I paid for them. Next the contact came in and it did not fit right at all. I went in to the office and explained that but was told I needed an eye exam. I said I don't want one at this time that a contact I just ordered from them did not fit. So, I was then scheduled an appointment to see the doctor. I asked her I won't be charged for this appointment right. She said no because the contact was under a 90 day warranty. A few days later another woman that works up front called me and said I see that haven't seen us in over a year and would to schedule you for an eye exam. I told her again I did not want an eye exam that I wanted the contact that I ordered to be fitted correctly. I explained again the accident I had with my contact and that it was fitting great and the one they ordered me that I just got did not fit. She then says let me transfer you to optical so that you can explain it to them. (I have explained my case to probably the whole damn place by now!) I was told they are now going with a new manufacturer and they are gonna have to call them and see what happen. I asked if I should keep my appointment and she said yes it probably be a good thing if I saw the doc so that he could get it fitted right. Today was my appointment - I get a call from the office again and the woman said that in her computer I was scheduled for a contact fitting but I was over due for an eye exam. I told her again I did not want an exam I want my contact that I bought from them to fit. She asked where did you get your contact? I was irate at this point. I said you all there ordered it for me. She said to me I don't know how your prescription is expired. I explained the situation to her. We were not fans of each other at the end of the conversation. Next I get a call from optical and she told me that the office clerk wanted me to know that if I showed up for my appointment today that I was gonna be charged. A phone call I get as I had driven all the way across town. Thanks. Now they are gonna call the manufacturer and see if it was a mistake on their part. Can you please wait 48 hours. - I paid for a contact. It does not fit. What is the problem. If it is 90 days guaranteed then why can't we get it checked, replaced under that guarantee. I already gave you money and your already trying to get me to pay more!

At the age of 26 I finally decided to get my eyes checked out. I had never done this before and was really nervous about the whole process. At a friends recommendation I booked an appointment with Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. Glad I did! Dr Palmer was great and super nice. The tech staff was great. Front desk was a little unfriendly but not a big deal. The eye wear services were EXCELLENT! I am very happy with my new frames and contact lenses. Everyone is friendly, professional, and the place is immaculate and modern. Didn't break the bank either... maybe my insurance is good? Will be going back there.

Service went way down hill. Dr Johnson was great when he was not part of Barnet Dulaney now you see him for like 5 minuets most of the time is spent with the assistant. Always super busy. Took 3 times sending my glasses in to get them right. I was told on the second time that everything was good, I had my glasses warrantied and they were brand new well that was not true. Had to send them back again. Poor service super crowded. It’s like a business you would deal with in a big city does not have that small town feel. Go somewhere else!!

Do Not Go to them. They are cheaters, liars, dishonest, and highly unprofessional. When I went to them, I told them that I had two insurances and everything should be covered (I had already confirmed it from my insurances), and if there was any co-pay/deductible, I should be told upfront, and in that case I would like to cancel the appointment. I was told that my appointment was totally covered and there would be no co-pays/deductibles. The same was the situation when I went home. However, when I received the bill, I called them and I was told that it was the deductible that I had to pay. I asked them that I was misguided and misled about deductibles. They accepted that they knew there were deductibles but lied to me by saying there were none. They are dishonest people. They are unprofessional. And they must be ashamed of their conduct. Do Not go to them, find someone else in the town.

the frame/lense sales contingent at their new location on Switzer has guaranteed that I will not return. Went in for some maintenance on my old lenses monday, Feb 2014....and before discussing them I encountered one severely stern and dour "counter girl" (she should not have any interaction with customers) , the other sales counter girl turned to her co-workers and began to curse about a customer on the line.... this was before I even addressed my issue. I give them 5 Star rating for Customer Repellent. There's other stores where I'm sure you'll receive a positive greeting upon arrival. The guy that actually looked up my account was the only cordial one.

Let me start with WOW! I came from out-of-town on an emergency visit to Flagstaff, and was able to secure an appointment the very day I needed my next injection for AMD. The support and technical staff at the Flagstaff Center -- Kristen, Alicia, Lisa, Priscilla and Maisy -- were personable, assuring, kind and friendly. Their professionalism was front-and-center as they walked me through the necessary steps of an initial visit. (Smiles are no small matter in a world filled with anger!) It was clear to me that the work they do is far more than "a job". They understand how each of their specialties contributes to a greater good, the welfare of individuals whose lives, like mine, are made better!!! Dr. Graff turned out to be the major surprise in this incredible experience: Turns out that he is also a researcher who is working on a clinical trial that will advance the process of delivering necessary drugs directly to the eye with fewer injections over time! His explanations were clear and concise, his encouragement helpful, and his techniques -- for injection -- left me with no pain! Today was an enjoyable experience that, because I was thousands of miles away from my own doctor, was nothing less than a miracle. My deepest thanks to all the folks at Barnet Dulaney Perkins! My AMD will not get any worse, my eyesight will remain good and my life of purpose will be enabled by your care for me today! God keep you joyful!

I waited 2 months to get in to see the surgeon for surgery evaluation. Got there early and the priority seemed to be updating information in their EMR that was current. Once the front desk realized no updating was necessary they got me back 15 minutes late. I waited around for various test before seeing the surgeon.I needed to leave for another commitment so I never saw the surgeon. I went to reschedule and was told the next available appointment was in 2 months. So I will look for someone else or go to the Valley for this procedure. Crowded, inefficient and all the patients I talked with were also waiting long past their appointment times. The priority seemed to be their electronic medical record, not patients. Checking in was cumbersome and so was checking out. While I waited they played videos about eye diseases that would scare most people if they were paying attention..( drumming up new business I guess). Overall the staff were nice enough it just wasn't enough to counteract the rest of the experience.

I finally have vision insurance again, and needed contacts. It had been so long since I had seen an eye doctor I've run out of contact and am current wearing contacts well below my prescription and 6 months expired. My appointment was on July 10th. The appointment itself went well, and the optometrist wanted to increase my prescription, as well as try out a new brand of contacts. Without even thinking about it I agreed. However, my new contacts didn't show up until July 20th, and the new brand was extremely uncomfortable. I could not even wear them for 5 minutes. July 20th was a Friday though, so I had to wait until Monday the 23rd to discuss this with the optics center. Now it is July 30th, 3 weeks after my initial appointment, and I still don't have new contacts I can wear. I am fine with the doctor wanting to try a new brand of contacts with me. However, the brand I use I have been comfortable and happy in for over a decade. The optometrist also knew I was using outdated and expired contacts, and should have ensured that I would have contacts to wear when the testers finally shipped. I am very disappointed he did not order me two pairs of tester lenses - one of the new brand he wanted to try, and another of the brand I have been happily wearing for over a decade. This would have ensured that if the new brand was not a good fit I would have at least had some contacts that worked. Instead I'm stuck wearing contacts well below my prescription and 6 months expired until the new testers finally show up. On a side note the people in the optics department have been very sympathetic and helpful and I am not upset with their performance at all.

This was the biggest mistake of my life going to this office. I felt like part of a herd of cattle going thru the halls. I was scammed by the optometrist into spending over $2,500.00 of my own money on lenses that didn't work and now I still have to wear glasses that are very insufficient. Had a great experience here with both the thorough eye exam and then on to the rest of the staff who deal with frame selection and such. Appointments were timely and not rushed. My initial draw was that they carry Oakley and I wanted some for bicycling activities. The woman who helped me pointed out the lens that is preferred for that kind of activity (vs. Golf). I bought glasses with lenses that were a mix of Oakley factory lens and their "house lab", some gray and some transitional. All were of great quality (Oakley as expected, "house lab" a nice surprise and more affordable). Turnaround time on orders was decent too at 1-2 weeks max.

Do Not Go to them. They are cheaters, liars, dishonest, and highly unprofessional. When I went to them, I told them that I had two insurances and everything should be covered (I had already confirmed it from my insurances), and if there was any co-pay/deductible, I should be told upfront, and in that case I would like to cancel the appointment. I was told that my appointment was totally covered and there would be no co-pays/deductibles. The same was the situation when I went home. However, when I received the bill, I called them and I was told that it was the deductible that I had to pay. I asked them that I was misguided and misled about deductibles. They accepted that they knew there were deductibles but lied to me by saying there were none. They are dishonest people. They are unprofessional. And they must be ashamed of their conduct. Do Not go to them, find someone else in the town.

Went in for some maintenance on my old lenses monday, Feb 2014....and before discussing them I encountered one severely stern and dour "counter girl" (she should not have any interaction with customers) , the other sales counter girl turned to her co-workers and began to curse about a customer on the line.... this was before I even addressed my issue. Let me start with WOW! I came from out-of-town on an emergency visit to Flagstaff, and was able to secure an appointment the very day I needed my next injection for AMD. The support and technical staff at the Flagstaff Center -- Kristen, Alicia, Lisa, Priscilla and Maisy -- were personable, assuring, kind and friendly. Their professionalism was front-and-center as they walked me through the necessary steps of an initial visit. (Smiles are no small matter in a world filled with anger!) It was clear to me that the work they do is far more than "a job". They understand how each of their specialties contributes to a greater good, the welfare of individuals whose lives, like mine, are made better!!! Dr. Graff turned out to be the major surprise in this incredible experience: Turns out that he is also a researcher who is working on a clinical trial that will advance the process of delivering necessary drugs directly to the eye with fewer injections over time! His explanations were clear and concise, his encouragement helpful, and his techniques -- for injection -- left me with no pain! Today was an enjoyable experience that, because I was thousands of miles away from my own doctor, was nothing less than a miracle. My deepest thanks to all the folks at Barnet Dulaney Perkins! I waited 2 months to get in to see the surgeon for surgery evaluation. Got there early and the priority seemed to be updating information in their EMR that was current. Once the front desk realized no updating was necessary they got me back 15 minutes late. I waited around for various test before seeing the surgeon.I needed to leave for another commitment so I never saw the surgeon. I went to reschedule and was told the next available appointment was in 2 months. So I will look for someone else or go to the Valley for this procedure. Crowded, inefficient and all the patients I talked with were also waiting long past their appointment times. The priority seemed to be their electronic medical record, not patients. Checking in was cumbersome and so was checking out. While I waited they played videos about eye diseases that would scare most people if they were paying attention..( drumming up new business I guess). Overall the staff were nice enough it just wasn't enough to counteract the rest of the experience.

I finally have vision insurance again, and needed contacts. It had been so long since I had seen an eye doctor I've run out of contact and am current wearing contacts well below my prescription and 6 months expired. My appointment was on July 10th. The appointment itself went well, and the optometrist wanted to increase my prescription, as well as try out a new brand of contacts. Without even thinking about it I agreed. However, my new contacts didn't show up until July 20th, and the new brand was extremely uncomfortable. I could not even wear them for 5 minutes. July 20th was a Friday though, so I had to wait until Monday the 23rd to discuss this with the optics center. Now it is July 30th, 3 weeks after my initial appointment, and I still don't have new contacts I can wear. I am fine with the doctor wanting to try a new brand of contacts with me. However, the brand I use I have been comfortable and happy in for over a decade. The optometrist also knew I was using outdated and expired contacts, and should have ensured that I would have contacts to wear when the testers finally shipped. I am very disappointed he did not order me two pairs of tester lenses - one of the new brand he wanted to try, and another of the brand I have been happily wearing for over a decade. This would have ensured that if the new brand was not a good fit I would have at least had some contacts that worked. Instead I'm stuck wearing contacts well below my prescription and 6 months expired until the new testers finally show up. On a side note the people in the optics department have been very sympathetic and helpful and I am not upset with their performance at all.

Had a great experience here with both the thorough eye exam and then on to the rest of the staff who deal with frame selection and such. Appointments were timely and not rushed. My initial draw was that they carry Oakley and I wanted some for bicycling activities. The woman who helped me pointed out the lens that is preferred for that kind of activity (vs. Golf). I bought glasses with lenses that were a mix of Oakley factory lens and their "house lab", some gray and some transitional. All were of great quality (Oakley as expected, "house lab" a nice surprise and more affordable). Turnaround time on orders was decent too at 1-2 weeks max.

I saw Dr. Mcgary for an AK so that I could avoid wearing glasses for an astigmatism. My right eye was worse with only a little problem in the left. This procedure took maybe a minute, cost me $700 out of pocket, some pain at the time and more afterward in inflammation. I saw him for a follow up, which cost another $150 and discovered I was absolutely no better off . He tried to blame me, saying he told me he didn’t want to do the left eye! Now who would insist he do an eye he didn’t want to do?!! I had to buy the glasses!

I have had blurry vision in my left eye for a couple weeks so I came in to get It checked out. The assistant ophthalmologist (not sure of her title) was super nice and did a bunch of tests and explained everything she was doing.The Dr. came in and diagnosed my condition based off of those tests and said they would prescribe some eye drops and get me to come in for an Avastin treatment. When I asked about this he told me that this was an treatment that involved an injection into my eye. Okay. Anyways, I was taken to the departing receptionist where I asked how much the treatment would cost. She said it would be up to my insurance and pressured to get me set up for an appointment. I gently implied that I would not be doing anything unless I knew the cost upfront and was basically ignored. I got the card for the specialist that does the treatment to discuss with them what it will cost and left. On a side note, since I'm curious I looked up the condition and treatment in several medical and ophthalmology journals and did not find either of the two treatments given/recommended to me in any of them. This wasn't a comprehensive literature review of course, but with the speed I was rushed through the treatment options it has made me a bit skeptical.

The waiting room seemed more like the DMV than a doctor's office. Many of the people in the waiting room sat far away from each other and didn't speak to each other or make eye contact. A TV on the wall relayed information about eye diseases that may have been informative, but could have also induced a nagging fear in certain people to continuously return. It seemed more like propaganda to boost sales and return visits, with the guise of being responsible in your own healthcare. The optician that was assigned to me was friendly and had mastered her small talk with patients. I felt more at ease until the eye-drops came. I'm glad that the puff of air is now considered archaic. I would have liked a bit more warning on the eye pressure test, as I though my eyes were going to be poked with a pen. To my relief, the pressure pen only needed to be close to my eye, not touching. It was still uncomfortable having something that close to my eyes. The Optometrist was pleasant and had a smile on his face the entire time. He had an excellent sense of humor and had time to share some anecdotes about is time as a doctor and resident of Flagstaff. I gave them four out of five stars because I was not a fan of the batch process of handling patients, but I don't think they had a better alternative with the number of people that they serve. I prefer a smaller one-on-one experience at a doctor's office as opposed to large waiting rooms full of people. This is a personal preference and does not diminish the quality of the medical care provided. In Summary: Waiting Room experience was not pleasing Optician and Optometrist were very nice and professional

The one complaint I have, and it is a big one, is that the eyeglass department does not carry glasses with gaskets. For anyone with dry eye, which is endemic in the SW, gasket protection is mandatory. You don’t even have goggles, a poor alternative. Really???

Only four stars because it took awhile to reach someone at the flagstaff office. I physically went in to schedule a appointment. After getting my medical eye exam for a cataract and speaking to the Doctor. I would give 5 stars. Excellent service, friendly staff and outstanding care from the physician. I still have to go in and get precheck for IOLs and what is needed to remove the cataract...so that will be another review. Thanks.

Not my style. The office was overbooked, crowded, and impersonal. I waited for over an hour and was never seen so I had to leave due to time constraints. (They tell you to plan on 1.5-2 hours for an initial appointment! And after waiting an hour I didn't have another 2 hrs to spare.) I've been getting eye exams for 20 years- it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to tell me my contact prescription hasn't changed. Only as I was ready to leave and asked about my wait did the receptionist finally tell me I had missed my appointment time because I hadn't gotten my paperwork in on time. (There were huge lines for both receptionist desks.) Everywhere I've been you can finish your paperwork throughout the appointment or even afterward if needed- getting in to your appointment is priority. Too busy and impersonal to be worth the wait. If I want busy and impersonal it may as well be fast service like Sam's Club! I'm going there this time.

I went into BDP for a LASIK consult and was really excited for the possible opportunity to have my horrible vision corrected. When I arrived, the front desk staff was sweet and helpful and when I was brought back the nurse doing testing was the same. Then, I walked into the room to wait for the doctor to come in and talk with me. When he walked in, he didn't even introduce himself and shook my hand. Then, without any prior discussion, he went straight into telling me that my corneas were too thin for LASIK and said I should get a procedure called ICL which is two times the price of LASIK. I was a little in shock to say the least because since I was 18 I was told I would be a good candidate for LASIK. I honestly didn't know what to say and he kind of made me feel like I was "just another person" coming in for a consult. He said "just to make sure, lets put in the numbers" and he typed something into the computer and said, YEP too thin and then proceeded to tell me that he was going to dilate my eyes anyways "just to double check" .He dilated my eyes (which stayed dilated until THE NEXT DAY at noon while I was at work) and when he left the room with the nurse who didn't say a word to me the whole time, I heard them conversing outside the PAPER THIN door about how the doctor was "so sick" of these LASIK consults. COOL. Anyways he came back in and said "pretty upsetting news, huh" I told him yes and I was honestly just in shock and frustrated. He then told me to get ICL surgery which is approx. $4000 and eye, gave me minimal information and told me someone would call me about scheduling for that. Which someone did, three weeks later, after I got a second opinion from a different doctor and company which gave me the option of PRK and discussed everything thoroughly with me, CARED about my feelings and my time and didn't treat me as "just another person coming in for a consultation." I'm sure they're fine for a regular check up, but I will never go there for eye surgery. Thanks for not caring and trying to up charge me whilst giving me no other options for vision correction.

The doctor explained to me why it would be better for me to wait to have cataract surgery because, in my case, it would be better then laser.
