REVIEWS OF Ophthalmic Associates IN Alaska

Larry Hale

Opthalmic Associates has both good eye doctors and excellent helpers to measure eye pressure, etc. I would recommend them to anyone. They are courteous, and treat patients well. I highly trust them.

Kimberly Anne

While the physical offices are not extravagant Dr. Chad Bouchard is sensational, he has a natural ability. As skilled as he is technically he is equally dignified and caring. You can trust his evaluation, be confident with treatment plan, know he will give you every opportunity for great health. Do not hesitate to consult. Thankfully we have such a premier talent locally.

Soooo after waiting since 2013 for a reponse on how much $ a surgery to remove my eye would cost, because my dead eye is in pain. But they wont call me back. Also a rude lady named megan said to find a new doctor....to bad this is the only ophthamologist association in alaska that has doctors that do this kind of surgerys dumbass. Didnt know what surgery i was talking about or even what kind of work an opthamologist does. Would tell others to go to seattle if possible instead of this rude, time consuming, frustrating, craigslist employeed, and dump that blocks people from seeing doctors....thanks alot if i lose my good eye because of yall. Know its because of megan your front desk idiot.

Karen R

We absolutely love Dr. Morgan. She is very thorough in her explanations for my husbands condition. She gives him as many options as possible and is very positivein her interactions with him.

Steve Carlson

I seem to have a unique problem with my vision ( my vision changes throughout the day) and Dr. Morgan and her staff have been very attentive to those issues and very concerned that my vision Is the best that it can possibly be.

I read reviews that said the people that work here are rude... well I decided to inquire anyways and let me just say YES those reviews are true! First off the person answering phones didn’t seem to know anything and had to put me on hold to ask someone else all my questions and then just said “no he doesn’t do that procedure, bye and hung up” absolutely rude staff. Not sure how they get business when the people answering calls to bring in patients have no people skills! Why do people like this choose a profession that deal with people day in and day out. Please if your rude or hate accommodating patients, find another profession! There a reason they’re rated so low!

Dianna Kenyon

I have gone here multiple times and had wonderful experiences. It is clean and the staff is friendly. Most importantly, they did a great job on my eye exam.

Dr. Frank was the most dismissive provider I have ever had the disservice to experience. He truly needs some training on how to speak to patients. I have never had a provider bring me to tears before and I have seen many with poor bedside manner. Perhaps he should not have stated that post-menopausal women have dry eye (I'm 47...) He dismissed my concerns without asking me any questions other than why I seemed upset. The technician before him was EXCELLENT. He needs to teach Dr. Frank how to speak to patients. My goodness I have never written a poor review before, but I am seriously offended by this Optometrist.

Larry Frey

Prompt , follow ups, courtesy, upbeat, friendly.

Lisa Mackey

Outstanding facility. Great friendly staff.

Took over 8 hours to hear back from from these people. Sadly, I didnt even hear back, I had to call back to find out that my referral hadnt been reviewed yet. Extremely poor and slow service from these people.

Spruce Lynch

Excellent care, from the front desk and all around. They made me feel comfortable and at ease. They were compassionate, professional and caring. I recommend them highly.

Christian Mandregan

This group of eye doctors was there for me during one of the darkest (pun intended) periods of my life. Not only did they care for me sight unseen on a Sunday straight from Prov ER, they were also able to give me an actual diagnosis for a malady that had afflicted me for several years. I had reached near-hysteria due to the pain and fear during this bout of illness. Dr. Nathan was able to calm me. He spoke to me in understandable yet not belittling terms.Thank you for going the extra mile!

Noel Holder

Sarah Tolliver was outstanding during my visit to Opthalmic Associates. She was very professional, courteous and friendly. She went through all of the pictures that were taken of my eyes, explained the potential problems and provided recommendations. Thank you!!!

Gerald Taft

I have received great care here since 1994 for my glaucoma. Superior service, professional care and low wait time. Nice for my eyes.

Busy clinic that is efficient, polite and very skilled and professional. Office staff was very polite and responsive to my needs. Dr. Franks assistant was very kind and caring with her exam and technique. I don't like people near my eyes but I hardly knew her hands were there. Dr. Frank was very thorough and knowledgeable. Found an issue that needed immediate attention and within 4 hours I had an appointment with a specialist- after the team navigated the bureaucratic waters in what seems to be record time. As far as the location, its a beautiful office. Parking was no problem. This busy little office takes people with all kinds of insurance while other offices turn people away. Great job!!

Highly qualified and professional doctors, specialists and staff. I have been a patient here on and off for years but recently I've been working with Dr. Lorenz since 2015. I have a relatively complicated situation, and have had experienced a lot of discrimination and negative bedside manner when doctors could not diagnose the problem. I've only had positive experiences with this organization. Dr. Lorenz has taken great care to determine the best course of action, if any is necessary, and is great at ensuring that the patient understands the information that is necessary for their health. The only drawback, if you feel the need for one, is that the location is in a medical office area on the north edge of downtown where most people don't travel to very often. Access to the area is great, and there is plenty of parking on street, adjacent to the building if the parking lot is ever full. And sometimes you have to wait a month out for an appointment. If you need a specialist, I'd surely recommend these folks first.

I had scratched my eye and was referred to go to this establishment by my general doctor. Interactions with the secretaries were mixed, as they called me at 11:50 am and asked if I could make a 12:50 pm appointment that same day. The conversation then proceeded as if I was inconveniencing their practice by not leaving my work with practically no notice. So we settled on an appointment for the following day at 9:30 am. I arrive at 9:20 and fill out paper work. They staff seemed to be friendlier than while over the phone so I thought that perhaps things were going to go better than the reviews led me to believe. At 9:45 the technician pulls me from the waiting room and takes me through the whole nine yards (I have never had an eye appointment before). She was incredibly helpful and attentive, asking multiple questions and writing down detailed notes. I felt that I was in good hands with her. Believe her name was Syndra, but do not quote me on that. At 10 am she said that Dr. Frank would be right with me. 10 minutes pass. Soon it is 20 minutes. Around 10:40 Dr. Frank made a quick appearance to say he will be right in. At 10:50 someone else stopped by to tell me that he would be right in. 11:03 Dr. Frank made his appearance. He was very quick with his procedure, which was remarkably similar to the technicians. When he asked if I was taking any medication for the eye I said that I was and had seen results. He told me I didn't need to continue applying the medication and gave me a small bottle of "intensive" eye drops and then gave me an open bottle of an opthalmic solution and said to use this instead. This made me a bit nervous but he assured me that it would be fine. At the end of his examination, at 11:08, he said "If you experience symptoms X and Y make an appointment to see me again." The problem with his statement is that I came to see him for the exact symptoms that he had just told stated! The man had not even reviewed my symptoms. He was extremely dismissive in my follow up questions and told me that I would be dealing with the symptoms for up to five years and would need medication to mediate them. I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Used the opthamlic solution (that had been previously opened) and had to wash my eye out with water because of how badly it burned. The eye drops have served their purpose well though. I did not follow his recommendations and continued to use the prescription that my general doctor had given me. Every day my symptoms lessened and now I don't experience them. I cannot speak for all the doctors of this practice, but after my experience here I will not be coming back and will actively warn people to stray away from Dr. Frank.

The location is horrific. Many of their patients are elderly, disabled, or just don't see well (DUH). It is a nightmare to get to, a nightmare to park (their lot is completely inadequate), and staff is often rude or just plain nasty. My husband only goes here because he is trapped in the VA system and this practice is the one they refer to, probably because they have an ex-military doctor here that knows the government ropes. This practice has been here since 1972 when downtown was still an OK destination and gentrification began. Wake up people, this location means dealing with street people, and the jail is just down the street. It is at the foot of a MONSTROUS hill that is impossible to drive up in the winter, and to avoid it you have to go to the worst area in Anchorage, by the homeless shelter and Bean's Cafe. Time for them to move to midtown for their clientele. Just plain UNSAFE to go here.

Because I said sometimes my vision gets blurry when I drive they said it is a medical claim and not a vision claim and therefore charged me more money. The doctor said my vision gets blurry because my eyes get dry because the air from the car vents are blowing on me. I turned the direction of the vents, no more dry eye and no more blurry vision. Because they are greedy and wanted more money they submitted it to my insurance company as a medical claim this means I had to pay a 250.00 deductible and 20 percent after that. If it would have been submitted as a vision claim my insurance would have paid 100 percent. They will not change it because they said I have dry eye syndrome which makes it medical. How is it dry eye syndrome when it went away after turning the vents. I will never go here again and will tell everyone who asks about an eye doctor to stay away from these people.

Pretty good to native people considering the day and age! Thank you for your service

It seems as if these people run some sort of scam. They constantly call my number although I've never been a patient here. When I answer they just hang up on me and when I call them back I'm always greeted by some rude woman who tells me my phone number isn't in their system but obviously it is. I would not suggest coming here or providing any personal information.

`These people are wonderful. This group has probably helped more children and people with SPECIAL eye problems than any other organization in Alaska. When other docs in anchorage claimed a friend of mine had cancer of the eye... they used their detective work to find it was a freckle from medication. When other docs claimed a young girl I know had a genetic disorder these experts ( and missionaries ) discovered she did not and saved the parents years of worry. GO HERE FIRST, if you have any unusual eye questions ! They are also very good to their employees !
