A Great Place to Read and Relax!

Beautiful library. Two stories. Can get quite noisy and busy -- and by busy, I mean a bit chaotic -- particularly when the young kids (preschool-age) are there en masse, usually before or after storytime. Crowds can also pick up after school gets out, with school-age kids. Good programs for various ages. The storytimes are a great resource for stay-at-home moms with young kids, and there are other programs for kids of different ages, teenagers and adults / families (I think). Perhaps not the best environment for studying, although I'm not sure how much of the noise carries upstairs. Lots of kids' resources (computers, books, DVDs, etc.). You can check out the DVDs, which are sometimes family-friendly movies. Some resources -- including some computers and sections of the library -- are generally off-limits to adults, which, as a parent, bothers me somewhat. Not sure about adult resources, although they do have a mill / art studio that I think is restricted to older teens and adults, likely for safety reasons. Resources in a language other than English and then Spanish can be somewhat limited.

I love how the library is organized and has 2 floors :D it's fun to come here with friends and study together. There are tons of space and I like how aesthetic it looks. Sometimes get sorta loud from the kids.

Clean, spacious, nice, has a soda vending machine if you get thirsty and need a drink. The garden book selection is great and it helped me get my garden started.

To be honest, I never thought I'd write a review for my local library, but for the last hour I've been pondering about this place. I had to stop by in recent weeks to use the computer and Internet access as the computer in my home office decided to part ways and display the blue screen of death. Extremely clean location, plenty of computers, and friendly staff on standby.

Great library. Amazing collection of books, CDs, DVDs, etc. Very large in space. Separate area for kids- different option for playing, reading, even electronic tablets. There are bookable meeting rooms, 2 hours per group. Large sitting area. Computer access, high speed internet, etc. Large collection of books and materials, DVDs and blue ray disks. Love this library

Fabulous library and facility. Gum Spring reminds me more of an academic library given the two stories, sweeping staircase and open feeling. A true Loudoun jewel and community asset. The staff is uniformly polite, knowledgeable and motivated and obviously enjoy working at the library. I greatly enjoy my time there.

This library is really good. The problem is that they don't put up books that everyone likes in a good time, typically 1 month after. Also they really need to bring back the video game area.

Really nice library, very welcoming and all. However it’s probably not the best place to study and do work. It’s always noisy, especially with the little kids crying, screaming, or talking too loud. I’d probably come back if those kinds of kids weren’t around.

It's like sitting in a nice hotel lobby reading books. Thousands of books, cd's and dvds...the whole works. My kids love the children's computers. They have also introduced train sets and lego tables so the hanging out at the library is the new big thing! The librarians host story time and it's a huge hit. We make sure not to miss a day. It is so well planned with stories, finger plays, music and movement and instruments like shakers and bells that the kids can participate with. There are quiet rooms that a small group can study in if needed. Very generous space upstairs and so much peace and quiet. My kids spend hours there and they're never bored. Thank you for such great work in maintaining this beautiful place! I would also suggest to parents to help pick up the lego and trains that their child scatters on the floor. It is a hazard to walk if there are toys thrown around. I have also seen how hard the librarians work to keep things looking orderly and they do have to end up picking toys as well whenever the place is messy.

Even in Summer You will need a sweater or jacket to sit there, and this is unacceptable. They purposly set temprature so cold so people dont sit there. They make this place discomfortable for us.

This has to be the best library in the county. Big, well organized and excellent staff. It's 2 minutes walk from various food and coffee joints. Lots of parking.

Honestly, this is a terrific library and in a terrific location. Very spacious, clean, friendly staff. Only complaint would be the lack of study rooms sometimes because it does get busy in the afternoons. But overall this is by far my favorite library I have been to.

I'm so happy that Gum Spring Library opened this year. I moved to this area almost two years ago and was so sad that no library was around yet until Gum Spring opened! I've gone here a couple of times and have pleasant experiences. Got my library card and started checking out books. The selection isn't all that great yet. The art section is so little and I'm hoping that more books will be added to the listing. They have large print books, audio, computer stations, and study rooms. **This is a library so lots of children and kids are here** It does tend to get a bit noisy. (One time--I was looking at the kids that were making a ruckus and they sweetly apologized for the noise.) The great thing about this library/this county's libraries is that when you get a card--go online! Find the books you want to read and request them! It's a great feature and I use it lots! If Gum Spring doesn't have your book and another library does--they will transit the book(s) to Gum Spring for you. It's great. They will notify you (if you choose for email notifications) and you can go to the library to pick it up at the holding book racks. I love it here! It's modern, there's parking, it's clean. A wonderful area!
