Mike is a pleasure to work with - he was extremely knowledgeable about the process on obtaining a birth certificate that's ready for an Apostille in New York City. He also was able to walk me through the process of getting copies of my birth certificate in the long form. The steps are the following: -Go to the New York City Department of Vital Statistics (125 Worth Street). I would recommend getting there early as the lines can be quite long. -Come prepared with your photo ID (passport and/or drivers license). If you are married and have changed your last name, bring proof of your name change (in the form of a marriage certificate or an old photo ID) -After waiting in line, you will enter another room where you have to fill out a request form for the certificates that you are requesting. You'll pay with your credit card and then receive a ticket. -Remember to indicate that you need a long form of your birth certificate for an Apostille. -After receiving your ticket, you'll need to wait in another line and then when you're called to the window, you'll have your ticket, photo ID, and any other pertinent documents to the clerk. -Let the clerk know that you need a Letter of Exemplification. You cannot get an Apostille without this letter and after waiting 2+ hours in line, you aren't going to want to return and go through this entire process again. -After receiving the long form of your birth certificate and the Letter of Exemplification, call Manhattan Mobile Notary and voila - you're on your way to having your documents with an Apostille.

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, let alone use a notary, but Mike at Manhattan Mobile Notary & Apostille did an outstanding job, so I thought I would share my experience. I needed to get some important legal documents notarized, and was frantic. I wasn't even sure what identification I could use or what the process was. He walked me through everything, put me at ease and made me feel I could trust him. When we met to sign and notarize my documents, he had several stamps and used an embossed gold seal...it reminded me of a kabuki tea ceremony with the flow of a master. The entire process was very efficient and I was glad I had chosen Manhattan Mobile Notary. I'd recommend this company to anyone. I note that they are "mobile," and focus on Manhattan. PS: I do admit I had to look up the word "Apostille."
