REVIEWS OF Keene Public Library IN New Hampshire

The staff are pleasant to interact with (except around closing time). The wireless internet service is free and very fast (especially for uploading content). They are not always open on Saturdays. There are many young people who are permitted to disregard to principal of silence in the library. This would not be a problem, if there were doors in the library which might block the sound from travelling from one end of the library to the other. The granite (or slate?) floors are nice, but they do not lend themselves to sound reduction. Why not designate a quiet area with doors that can be shut, and floors that do not creak? Or keep a supply of ear plugs on hand for those who truly wish to read in a quiet place. I should also say that the late fees are very reasonable.

Thoughtful library with an amazing space for children. A play kitchen with all of the extras, a fish tank, small seats, beautiful books and more. This is one of the crown jewels of Keene.

The library has become a flop house for every homeless and deviate person in Keene. It is used as a place to sleep, do drugs, sell drugs, drink(underage as well),harass the public citizen. The librarians are unresponsive to your pleas about their activities even when presented with the evidence. Will the new library just become a larger nicer place for these people to take over?I would never allow a child to go there by themself. It is really just an extension of the homeless shelters and Ashuelot River Park. ,

I love the Keene public library. The staff is helpful and courteous. I have made suggestions for book purchases and they have bought them. This library is a gem in the community.

The library is a great place for both kids and adults. I think them having an entire floor dedicated to the children is just awesome! I feel they have a lot of mediums for kids to use, play with and experience. They also offer fun gatherings and play times for the kids. I wish they offered more for adults in terms of helpful classes or get togethers for just adults. Other than that they offer an array of things for adults to use and work with, mediums to work off of and more. The employees are very helpful, however, not all are always the most friendly. However, the amount of employees who do have great personalities outweigh the ones who do not and it is still a very nice place.

Patrons can search for and reserve books and media online and pick them up either here or at Mason Library. Books are initially checked out for 3 weeks.

I only have 2 issues that made me choose 4 stars instead of 5. 1) I hate that I have to pay a meter just to use the library. 2) After several visits to the library to use the computer, others that are using the computers have no respect for others in that area. May sound petty, however when I go in to use a computer, I try to do what I have to do and get out as quickly as possible. Its hard to focus on your task while people are talking, laughing and joking loudly in that area of the library. Maybe I'm just getting old but I still believe the library should be quiet so you're not disturbing others that are using available resources. Man, I feel better! And damn, I know I sound like an old man but I don't care.

Staff is very helpful and very pleasant. The only bad thing is some of the people who use the computers need to be a little more quieter when they bang on the computer keys.. so distracting to the other patrons
