Was the first time my boyfriend and I have ever been to a bar, so this was a completely new experience for us. The bartender was extremely sociable and nice, helping us with whatever questions we had, and the food was amazing! We will defiantly be back in the near future!

Went in for the Game of Thrones themed brunch. Very creative. Was the first brunch I've been to there. All of our food was great. I had steak and eggs and my friends went with the Lazy Dragon (alligator). I didn't get any of the alligator but it looked fantastic. Won't be my last trip to Sam's. Was a little slow getting food and service but overall very good. Gravy was excellent.

Sam's has probably the best burgers on town. They are consistent and they are made to order so it is always hot. Cold food is the worst. Wings are. Good too. Beer is always cold and the crowd is a mix of every type of person u can think of. And there. Is never any trouble fights etc... Staff has been there for years and know what they are doing. They get ur order and serve you they are busy so not much time for friendly talking with bartender and what not. Which is cool with me I just want wings, burgers and cold beer and they Re good at giving me that. Thanks guys cya this weekend and maybe Sunday too for bills game!!!

I really do love small local bars with joyful local crowds. The prices here are slightly lower than the bars and restaurants around it. The bartender and staff were awesome and allows you to customize your food order to your liking. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and quite large. The homemade potato chips are a complete game changer that I'm still thinking about! This is a must stop place to visit in Charleston.

My friend and I just finished dinner here tonight and it was absolutely amazing. It was a long day at work and we looked at multiple places throughout Charleston that were closed. We stumbled across Sams after a suggestion from another local restaurant that had already closed their kitchen for the evening... And what a treat the food, the atmosphere, and the service was some of the best I've seen at a late hours cafe. The bartender was super attentive and the food again was absolutely amazing. I had the reuben sandwich with fries and my friend had the sausage burger with onion rings, amazing! We certainly will make this one of our late our venues in the future on many occasions. Two very satisfied customers! Keep up the great work!

Best wings in town! Great place to catch a WVU game. The owners are super cool and you might even catch them pouring a drink on a super busy evening. They have an upstairs which is more of a lounge area with pool table, dart boards, and couches. The brunch on Sunday's is worth driving from Putnam/Cabell/Boone/Lincoln county to Kanawha just to enjoy!

Everyone tells me how good the food and the service is here... So I give them a try on a Wednesday night at about 7:45. I go in get a table and although both bartenders make eye contact with me, after being there for quite a while no one comes over to bring me a menu, take a drink order, or just to greet me and let me know they're planning on taking my order soon. So I left. Either they don't know how to staff properly or they haven't taught their employees the importance of making a guest feel welcome. That's okay though went down the street to another usually reliable eatery and the same thing happened to me while sitting at the bar!!! Bad night for me I guess!!

I'm in Charleston occasionally for work. I always go to Sam's. I'm told that all of their food is good, but I always get the hamburger. Not the Sam's burger, just the regular one. (Personally, I dont like the Sam's burger as much.) I get bacon, fried egg, and usually a couple of cheeses. Its difficult to find a really good burger for some reason. But Sam's has a great one! I highly recommend it. And Danny, the bartender, is awesome. He's fast, friendly, and is amazing to watch. He's all over the place. Great place to hang out with friends. Seems to be a very diverse crowd when I've been there.

A friend and I went to meet another friend for drinks and dinner. I've been to Sam's Uptown for brunch and have always been pleasantly surprised at the quality and presentation of the food. While we enjoyed our food (I had hot wings and the prime rib sandwich), the service was way off. "We don't get many requests for that" was the response to my drink order of a Manhattan. When our server returned to the table with our beers, she said "we don't have sweet or dry vermouth." I ordered a shot of bourbon which was delivered promptly with our server saying "that's Buffalo Trace." I said that was fine. When we were finished, our server plunked down the register tape on the table and the third friend who had joined us asked for his to be separated out, since he was in town on business and was on an expense account. After several protests and eye rolls from the server, she went away and came back to ask if a hand-written receipt would be OK. It took several negotiations before she brought a proper receipt. We each enjoyed our food but not the server.

Easily the center of the bar life in Charleston. Probably THE CHOICE for night time eating. They do great bar food but you'd be surprised what the chefs will do when getting creative. The upstairs has a real neat atmosphere too. Only complaint would ever be that it can get crowded because of the love it gets. Gotta check it out. The Samburger is half sausage and beef, and I always end up getting the craving sooner or later. Decent beer selection too. Hottzerella sticks!
