Great atmosphere! Fantastic food! Excellent service! Definitely will be back on my next visit to Davis. The wait staff are very friendly and have great sense of humor.
Their food is very good but I must say that the seating isn’t very spacious. Another downside is the price. The food is good, but the prices are much too expensive. Bathrooms are very small, i’m pretty small and managed to have barely enough room in the stall to even sit. I recommend for a nice and delicious dinner with family/ friends.
Great place to go after a hard days work. Friendly staff, great prices, and good food.
Prime Rib was perfect, awesome salad. Great place
Excellent food, no problem to cater people with allergy. Very friendly and service minded staff.
Great place to eat
A little small, but the steaks are amazing.
The food was spectacular and the service is great! Reservations are highly recommended because it is a quaint little restraunt.
Not my first time here but it was my girlfriend's. Shes a picky eater and she loved it! Awesome job as always!
Was like an overpriced rustlers, had better steak at Burger King
Very professional service with high class food and atmosphere. Perfect for a date. Highly recommend.
Normally I wouldn't write a review. However, this is probably one of the worst dinning experiences I have ever had. Let's start with the over priced food that I might also add wasn't up to par. The waitress was rude. My friend asked a question about an item on the menu and she laughed directly in her face as if to say "what a dumb question." Then while we're eating, we hear laughter and gossip coming from two of your employees and the sudden glances at us were enough to make us feel mocked or as if we were sitting there being talked about. It was uncomfortable and the three of us wanted to leave but we didn't. We paid for our meals and tipped her although I can say she didn't deserve it, and left quietly. Mind you, you are one of the few restaurants in this small town and it's smack dab in the middle of lots of sight seeing and other local attractions. We travel that way quite often but I can say I will never stop there again and I will not recommend you to any of our friends or family. My friend reached out to you in hopes that maybe you'd respond. Not for compensation for the horrible experience but in hopes that maybe you'd use it as constructive criticism considering you are a BUSINESS, but he received no response. As a restaurant that supposedly offers a nice dinning experience and good food, I'm throughly disappointed.
My husband and I dined here, and ordered just main entree items, no apps or deserts/drinks. The salads were on tiny plates that hardly contained a 1/3 cup of brown lettuce and soggy kale bits. The Delmonico was a large cut of meat, but it was poorly cooked and lacked any seasoning whatsoever. My husband and I both had to drench our steaks in salt/pepper and request a vinegary based bland steak sauce to choke down our $30 steaks. I’m unsure if I heard correctly, but our waitress sounded to say “oh wow” under her breath, when I ordered the same steak cut as my husband and they could be heard gossiping in the kitchen about the few customers they had. I was not impressed with the service, food, or atmosphere. A hard earned $72 wasted in my opinion.
Fantastic
Not a good experience this evening. No 5 stars this evening. Only 1
Steaks were fantastic, definitely the star of the meal, nice salad, thought the miniature sized fresh baked bread was croutons at first, and a $4 up charge to have both a starch and a vegetable seemed a bit nickel and dime
12 oz Strip was delicious
Food was good but services was not and they weren’t busy. Asked for more bread and they said it was an extra charge. Was going to get a gift card for family but changed our mines and didn’t.
Terrible! My wife and I ordered two appetizers each as our meal. We each ordered Ceasar salads which were served warm and with wilted lettuce. Her bacon wrapped chicken livers were over cooked and tough. My ribs were ok, but my wings were full of fat and the veggies for dipping looked as if the were cut the day before and left on the counter overnight before serving. We left hungry and disappointed. Never again!
Was not disappointed in stopping in for dinner here, especially on a Wednesday which happened to be burger night. We both had well done burgers with bacon, mushrooms, and roasted red peppers. Delicious and juicy, not to mention hot off the grill. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Loved that old time restaurant vibe. It was like stepping back in time. Yes, as others have mentioned the bathrooms are small, but hey!, that's not a place where one eats their meals. LOL Quiet dining to relax in after hiking and sightseeing as noise level is moderate.
Excellent steaks!!
Making reservations here was one of the best ideas we had this trip. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere of this cozy restaurant was inviting, down to earth, but still fine dining. The menu was pricey, but not more than expected for this kind of dining. I've read reviews that day the portions were small, and although they were small, we had so many courses to the meal, they were perfectly portioned to where we were satisfied with each course. The soup and salad were both delicious; the steak was cooked perfect; the potatoes were wonderful; and the mouse cake for dessert was to die for! We will definitely be going back the next time we are in Davis. I would highly recommend.
Poor behavior & treatment from a waitress, contacted management/owner on Facebook page & was ignored. Overpriced for what you get as well.
Great food!
Outstanding service and the food was excellent
Delightful vibe, delicious meal and the delicate, crisp Cowboy Poppers were truly appetizing ;) . Ron rocked it! NY Strip was savoured
This place serves the kind of steak and ribs that cows and pigs dream of becoming one day.
Ordered the delmonico and it was quite possibly the best steak I've ever had. It was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. My compliments to the skinny chef.
The food and the service were amazing! Highly recommend eating here.
It's too expensive for the small portions they give you.
The filets were excellent and great service
Great food, atmosphere cool, owners were great to talk to and very helpful with area for riding! Had dinner there 2 nights in a row! Try the drowned rat, great drink!
Excellent food. Husband had the Caribbean chicken, I had a dinner salad with chicken. Both were well prepared. loved the gluten free chocolate torte! Staff and chef were knowledgeable and understanding. Provided a gluten free meal. Will return.
I enjoy eating at Muttley's every time I go to Davis. I consider myself to be a steak enthusiast, and let me tell you, this is a legitimate steak house. My food was delicious, my steak was very well cooked, a generous portion, and a good quality cut. After my meal, I talked to the chef and found that they cut their meat in house, which gives it that extra personal touch. All sides were also home made, and the Mouse cake dessert was beyond satisfying. Probably one of the best desserts I have had in a restaurant. If you get a chance, definitely check this place out. Great food, good atmosphere, and great staff.
Great steakhouse! Friendly service. Theme on the wall art is old time western movies -William S. Hart and others. Very interesting! And they have potato ramp soup! The New York strip was perfect!
Good smoked ribs but 10$ for a sandwich
I had an awful experience here today. It's my fathers birthday and we were traveling to circleville from Pittsburgh and decided to stop for dinner. Terrible mistake! We were greeted and seated quickly, though that is were the good ends. My father asked if they had a certain whiskey to which she replied she didn't know and asked what I presume to be a bartender within earshot who replied "if I don't know what it is we don't have it" My father ordered the soup as it was described to him as an old Italian recipe, however the soup was green purée with a strong curry flavor and mostly impossible to eat though tolerable on a little bread (which was supplied in 4 tiny pieces at a time) (We later found out it was squash and curry ) The table beside us returned their soup as well. I ordered the surf and turf (25$ I believe) and my father ordered the prime rib (22$ I believe ) and our server did not know what au jus was. My steak was blue rare (I asked for medium) My fathers prime rib was rare He thought it was okay at first and ate a few bites before realizing. My plate was returned steak still more than rare and my shrimp( of which I ate half of one) were incredibly over cooked and dry. We then had enough, and asked to see a manager who we explained the problems too and asked to pay for our drinks so we could leave. They took away our plates and said our waitress will get our drink bill. I paid, tipped the waitress and we left. Mediocre service Incorrect handling of the situation Terrible food Very disappointing Never ever again
Wonderful atmosphere......friendly staff.....and outstanding service. Stayed at Canaan Valley Resort for 3 nights and hit ALL the local establishments for lumchea and dinners. By FAR the BEST place in Davis, WV. Cooked our steaks to perfection. Great wine list as well. Highly Recommended....Make SURE you make a reservation. We watched them turn many people away because its such a quaint and smaller restaurant.
Really overpriced and poor quality food. Spend your money elsewhere
Not impressed. Portions seemed small, they were out of many of the menu items at 6pm on Saturday evening. Steak had good flavor but didn't feel me up
This restaurant is fantastic, waitresses are great and the food is some of the best I've had.
This place has really gone downhill. I miss their heyday circa 2002.
The other night I was part of a group of 5 that dined at Muttley’s Steakhouse. It was Leaf Peeper’s Festival weekend so believe it or not Davis was very busy. We made 7pm reservations a day in advance and the table was ready when we arrived. We were seated promptly and the hostess took our drink order. After a brief wait the server took our orders. A water carafe was placed on the table and refilled as needed. Our salads arrived promptly and were delivered to us with minimal confusion. They were quite small but good. We all had steaks. All were cooked as requested and no one was disappointed with their food with the exception that there was a consensus that the strip stakes were cut too thin. The server accommodated our request for separate checks and only complained a little. The atmosphere is quaint as they made the best of a very old building. Overall I was happy with my experience and I would dine there again.
One of the best steaks I have ever had. I got the delmonico which was a little pricey but worth it. Nice large cut. Salad was good but small. Just wish the bread was better and more of it. Tiny basket of bread. Overall great experience.
Historic building so it was a bit warm. Dont worry about large portions because that is not the case here. The salad that comes with the entrees is tiny, good stuff but tiny. I had the housemade balsamic and my hubby the housemade parmesan dressing, both very good. Entrees say they come with choice of vegetables my choice was french fries or brussel sprouts with kale. I cannot do fries so I got the upcharged portabella mushrooms which were ok, a bit salty. Never heard fries considered a veggie before. The peppercorn filet was tender well cooked pepper is strong, would have liked more of the bleu cheese sauce. Hubby was happy with his fettuccine alfredo.
Good service. Mediocre food for the price. Poor kitchen and cook is not willing to cook your meat as we asked and make small change requests to your order, eg tomatoes on the side when ordering a salad.
What an excellent dinner. I had the peppercorn filet and it was cooked to perfection. Great menu selection. Great atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive server. I will definetly be back.
Horrible customer service from our waitress it took her over an hour to refill water and they were not busy. She was also very gossipy about us it was so uncomfortable hearing her talk about us to another waitress.. We we're there for about 3 hours it took forever for our food to come then when it did it was overcooked and small portioned and very expensive no matter what you get.. My advice don't go here and take your money to Hellbenders where you will always get your worth.
Burritos are super good!! Highly recommend.
Food wasn't prepared as you would expect when paying for a meal which is in a price range from $16-$30 per plate. Steak was cooked in a pan, and undercooked-not as ordered. For the price of the steak, it should be grilled. Service was poor, prices for meals were way too high for what was being offered. I ordered the pasta and it was a heated up pasta dish and sauce that was pre-packaged. Very disappointing and expensive.
Steak was undercooked and over priced for a mid level steak. Service was slow. The non steak meals were good .
Slow, expensive, average food.
We were the only table and they were out of a lot of their food. The waitress was also horrible and way out in left field.
Awesome steak, very tasty and tender
Wasnt very freindly! Very rude! Will not go back! First and last time there!

While Muttleys is one of the few choices in town, We suggest you save your time and head to Hellbenders Burritos. When asked how we would like our steak cooked (medium rare) - we were told it was unavailable, as was the medium, as was the rare...... when we got our ‘well done’ prime rib, it was over cooked, yet pink at the same time... We ordered the chicken wings, which we are told was mildly spicy, but as I sat there coughing on a piece of pepper stuck in my throat for around five minutes, I began to think otherwise. Service was mediocre. Maybe Muttleys should rethink calling themselves a ‘steak house’. I will say the mashed potatoes were chunky, but alright.
I'm extremely picky, so greater detail on entrees would be nice but food tasted good and service was friendly and inviting. Great atmosphere. Lots of character
Great steak night and interesting atmosphere.
