Love the ambience, great fast service, nice beer and menu choices.
Historic saloon. Good bar food. Quality live rock & roll.
Great historical bar, drinks are good and food was better.
Super cool venue with oodles of music history under its belt!
First time there on a Saturday night and it was a good experience. Live music was good. Service was average/slightly above average. Wish I had tried some good but just had drinks. Worth checking out
Great service and friendly staff. Food is decently priced as well.
Wasn't a hot night when I was there (as in no amazing music nor very crowded), but my lemon drop martini was absolutely perfect! 5 stars for the martini!
Lots of history here . Fun to visit
Super nice and eclectic staff and an awesome place to gig..TJ is one of the best sound guys around!
cool spot in the heart of downtown
Curt Nelson runs the sound there. On a system supplied by Tommysound Audio!! The bar staff is very friendly and work hard. The place could be cleaned better. But, I blame that on the cleaning crew. The bar has done a lot of remodeling to the stage for a better look as well a better sound! Come in and check it out for yourself. If you like live music there is bands every weekend. Or come during the weekday for the great food and good company!!
Very crowded, hot, and crazy. Food was good. Bar burger w/tator tots good. Seems too crowded to relax. Service generally good. I would go back for a basket of tots. Boxed wine not so good.
This was the first stop my husband and I did for my 30th recently, it's a Seattle staple and neither of us had been here yet. It wasn't crowed since it was only around noon but the bartender was amazing, I had no idea what I wanted to drink (it had to have Baileys in it though) she made me a delicious drink and was super sweet about it. Definitely a great spot to check out even if you're not a tourist
Absolutely loved it! Went here for my friends birthday party and the drinks were good and the staff was friendly.
Huge lunch portions which was great! I enjoyed the pulled pork burger that has a slight spice to it - but not too spicy which was perfect. The bar itself can be a little intimidating for tourists but the staff are friendly. The toilets are also worth a look with their intense murals! They were cleaner than any public toilet I've seen.
Amazing and historic pictures are awesome
My introduction to grunge in the early 90’s. I go there every year. Thanks for the memories. And all those glorious unforgettable nights in a better time and place.
A bit grungy but a cool dive bar
By the look of it, it looks like they are trying to be a hole in the wall style bar with a some class...its not a bad thing but not the greatest either...they could also get a better selection as well...
Great pour. Sweet bartender, beautiful blustery weather. Celebrating my beautiful boyfriend's birthday, what more could you want? America!
Tater tots and the staff are amazing!
I mean, why WOULDN'T you stop here on your way to the Jays game.
Get there early on game day! Good food, strong drinks. Perfect for pregame preparation
Awesome venue! Great food and beer!
Great light and ample floor space a great place to record live here with a quality sound production. High rise stage and great staff!
Food is disgusting the service isn’t all that great the music is terrible and I freekin love this Rachet Dive Bar.
Amazing, haunting history! Beautiful place!!
I loved this place, cool interior and the type of bartenders that make you want to stick around. Highly recommend stopping in
Tall white dude bartender is kinda rude (you can’t make me a mojito? Really?) but otherwise fine. Bad layout, feels cramped.
Went at 8pm on a Saturday and was groped by an over-served regular (apparently.) He was very very drunk. I told the bouncer and he just laughed and said "Oh he's ok, he works around here. He's a friendly guy." Maybe he misunderstood me. So I told the two female (awesome) bartenders who were like "Oh yeah he is definitely cut off. Do you want us to break his face??" And proceeded to locate their security bat. Still, he wasn't asked to leave. TLDR- bouncer ignored my complaint. Lady bartenders are awesome- but this place tolerates creeps because they're afraid to confront people. I'm sure if I (or my boyfriend) took things into our own hands, WE would have been thrown out.
A great place to hear crappy music. Alternatively, it's a crappy place to hear some awesome music. Some of the bartenders could an attitude adjustment, though.
Caught Spinning Whips final show here, and it was a face-melter! Great venue, great music, great beer. What more do you need?
Cool vibe. Good venue. Plenty of beer options.
Great place. AMAZING chili!
Olde time favorite bar. Formerly the Central Tavern in the 80s. A great music venue that played a significant role in the Seattle Music scene. Without venues like the Central, many local and up and coming bands would not have had a place to play and refine their art. Sooo many good times at this place.
do yourself a favor and give this place a try. this place has many good reviews for a reason.
Historic venue I wish the owners wouldn't anger so many bands, a lot of people won't play there, they say they get ripped off, but I love to see and film bands there, great stage, great location, and great sound -the history there, boy if the walls could talk, especially the bathrooms!
Played a few show's here always a great time. Lot's of coming and going's in beautiful Downtown Seattle. Excellent venue ton's of history and legendary grunge tales of Rocking the stickers off the walls. If you could get a set time after a hawks victory big turnout no doubt!
Loads of space, good place to meet up before a Mariners game, Seahawks game or Sounders match. Good service and the food is pretty good too.
The staff are the realist, coolest people. Very friendly, and fast. The food is good, and they always have great live music. Very comfortable atmosphere for those who aren't into "clubbing," and place's of that nature.
Service was good. Drinks were okay. Food was absolutely inedible. In hindsight, doesn’t seem like a place for food. But it was still surprising, even when I had low expectations.
Love the history of this saloon, it's where alot of the grunge got started, bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains ,Sound garden have all played there
This little spot in Pioneer Square has a really good feeling about it! Saw the band LuVlution perform, had some good eats and a fun night!
Oldest bar in Seattle. Good place for day drinking.
I go there for a great lunch and a good draft beer selection. Hot sandwiches such as Rueben are my favorite but usually the daily special is great. Fries are great. Environment mid day is pleasant.
Oldest bar in Seattle, they say. Definitely feels like 1890 Seattle. Don't come to take yourself seriously. Grab a chair, watch some live music and enjoy the evening!
Only stopped in for a pint before catching the ferry home, but the draft selection was pretty good and the old-style of the bar itself was pretty cool. Not a huge amount of room, but they seem to have live music pretty often, which is great.
I have been here many times over the years... to get hot dogs from out front!! A friend swears they have the best in city! No different imho than any other street vendors that serve typical Costco dogs... but still very good for cheap meal... Anyways, first time for a show for me here surprisingly. Saw ACTORS last night and was very impressed with this venue. Even though not my kind of music, but still hada great time. Good drinks, friendly staff, good sound, etc. Will definitely be back(inside) again soon!
Great dive bar with welcoming bar staff. Theres usually some kind of music happening there too. We made it for duh 90s, which was a blast!
We walked in and sat down, no one said a word to us, so we grabbed some free water and sat for an hour and left. Smelled dank anyway.
Classic pub in Pioneer Square. Great place to catch a local rock show or watch the Seahawks. I love the Central.
Great venue. Great bartenders.
Great drinks, average bar food.
Try the lunch specials ,best hamburger in Seattle
Loved the live music. Three great bands! Amazing service and great drinks!
$10 cover for this? Sheesh.
The people are rily nice and the drinks are good
Seattle's oldest tavern.
Great sports, dive bar. The drinks are priced well and the service is always great. Attentive and friendly. This is a great place to stop before a sporting event. It gets a decent crowd while not being overly crowded.
Love this place. However, worst experience ever with bartender Mel. She was all alone, which I get is stressful... and She told us so several times while rushing around. But then she was super rude after she ignored me, serving everyone else that walked up after me. The bartenders and vibe are usually really cool here, which is the only reason I still rate this place a five.
The bartender tonight was rude when I inturupted him trying to pick up tourists girls from China. When I commented about it, he cut me off, wadded my receipt and threw it at me. Look at your security camara. P.S... I ordered a gin and tonic and he felt like he needed to add lemon. I compained, which maybe I shouldnt have.
Order a burger and drink while waiting for the grey hound. They were open on Christmas night while everyone else was closed. Food tasted great, drink was well made and the bartenders were prompt, polite and friendly. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Would definit ly recommend stopping here.
Fun. Great way to see part of historic seattle. Expensive.
A must stop when visiting Seattle!
Liked the music and the atmosphere. Felt at ease
What can I say I love this place, bit of a dive butt that's what I dig about the place great selection of beers and your typical tavern style food is good especially when you've already had too much to drink for a Seahawks game I always go back for more
Awesome place deep history and Overtime was the best
Got the boot before we even ordered a drink! My cousin innocently reached back behind the bar for drink menu sitting there out in the open. Was confronted by bar tender coming out of back room..."you don't go behind my bar!!...you need to leave!". We get it...should have waited for bartender but no bartender present and gross over reaction. Guess because they're a cliche tour attraction they feel they can pick and choose their customers. Seattle's other oldest bar Merchant Cafe, on the other hand, inviting friendly and accommodating. Go there!
Historic, great service!
Stopped by to grab a bite for dinner and was quite impressed with the BBQ pulled pork sandwich! Great fries on the side too. Great dive bar vibe here, too.
So much history here
Great Happy hour. Try the American Born Bourbon
I always stop here before a Seahawks game to get food and drinks. Usually pretty good.
Pretty good hot dog place. Not the best I've ever had, but good. I got the chicken apple Mediterranean dog, which was light and rather refreshing, in a Mediterranean sort of way. The place seems a little chaotic and cluttered and disorganized. The cashier/order taker kept fumbling around looking for things because the counter was such a mess.
A good place to grab a beer and you can never go wrong with visiting the oldest bar in seattle.
Good music venue. Food is good too. Parking can be difficult.
Wonderful food.
Home made tater tots!? So good!!
Good food, cold beer & friendly service...what more do you need?
Seattle's under sided with great beers
Awesome local pub that is the water to the roots of the Seattle Sound. The Grunge revolution of the 90s. Nirvana played 2 songs here for a crowd of 3 including the bartender. They make us outsiders feel at home. I felt like I was in one of my beloved dive bars back home in Boston. A must see for some drinks and entertainment
Chill vibes and great music on a Monday night. The service was great despite only 1 bartender working the entire night and she knew what she was doing on top of decently priced drinks for a downtown bar. We'll be back!
Great music venue, good food, good service
Great music. Typical zero service.
Stumbled into this magical place at midnight on a Friday night after a drive from Canada. A Prince cover band was playing! It blew our minds! The staff were friendly. The space is fairly tight, but it's well designed. We loved it!
Iconic! Good food great music and yes drinks.
Cool old saloon
Staff was great. I love the attitude and feel of the place. A bit pricey, but how many bars in Seattle aren't nowadays. I most definitely will come back and from what I understand. .. it's one of, if not the oldest; bar in Seattle.
Amazing drinks, Did not have time to try the food, but it looked and smelled great!
Fun old bar in Pioneer Square. Bartenders are great, food is too.
Cool old bar lots of things to look at. Beers reasonably priced heard they have good food but didn't have any.
Great customer service!
My band played here and they have a really nice DW house kit!
Awesome old timey atmosphere
This was the first bar my boyfriend too me to in Seattle. The drinks were priced great and made even better. I love it so much I got a tank top from there. The atmosphere very much fit with my more rockchick vibe but it was also just a really chill friendly place. Its history is wonderful too. Absolutely recommend checking it out.
Great staff, great food, great music venue.
Good bar fun for shows
Great drinks I came on a good night where the music was live and the people are so down to earth.
There are a few homeless in the area making not the perfect place to enjoy the sun and company but Seattle overall has a homelessness problem so I can't fully blame this hang out place.
Worth checking out!
Decent place. The service is fast and food was tasty. I would most likely enjoy hanging out there in just a bar-type environment. However, for live music, the venue is a little brutal. The acoustics are really shoved in your face and the sound guy doesn't really know what he's doing. Probably wouldn't go back and see music there.
Unique eatery with an old school bar. Cozy interior setting with its original historic character. Good food and great prices.
Great beer selection, good location, awesome music, cool bartenders.
Neighborhood bar. Cheap beer and decent bar food. Fun and friendly bar staff.
I love this place! It's my go to bar and how can you beat 6 bucks for a double lol.
I’ve been here a number of times and each time I feel as though the prices are way too high for a dive bar in Pioneer Square. I realize this place is a historic landmark saloon but it just feels too expensive to me.
Decent stop. Nothing special. Cheese curds are really good!
Great place for drinks, dinner and the Seattle music scene.
Beer was good. Saw one of my favorite bands here. Nachos are not worth the price.
Seattle's oldest bar enough said...
A historic and very old bar, well known for having famous bands before they were famous. Located in Pioneer Square, there is a lot of activity and other bars to hop to during your visit although odds are your time at the Central will keep you coming back.
Coolest. Dive bar. Ever. I absolutely adore this living relic of Seattle's yesteryear. Take trendy, nostalgic, and artsy, puree for 30 seconds, and you'll pour out the spirit of Seattle's authentic oldest saloon.
Best place in Pioneer Square! The staff are AMAZING & the sound quality is great
Okay for a late night bar. Very strict ID policy. People in their 60s were being refused entry without it. Long bar, so took a while to get served.
Dope place to stop in for a drink! You can feel the history to the place before you walk in, and the beer/liquor selection is solid. Wish I coulda caught a show here, I'm willing to bet it's a super fun experience. Sidenote: if the bartender I had wasn't on something then he is the perkiest person on earth...
Good prices Good customer service Great food
I've loved it for over ten years... 100 more!
Your standard dive bar, open when you need it, nice employees working there. I like the vibe here more than other bars mostly because the vibe of the people in here is normal (?) If that makes any sense. Sometimes late night drinking can lead to weird encounters, but so far so good at this place.
Only had game day menu. Not much to choose from .
Good staff, great music
A fun place to catch a local show or have drink.
Classic saloon to hit up
Bartender is a blast and so funny! GREAT drinks and awesome prices!
Cool bar
Decent bar with affordable drinks. Nothing fancy, just everything you need.
Came for the live music!
Best first stop in Seattle! Great food, drinks and music!
Its was pretty good.
Quite the underground/ grunge style that defines Seattle. The local band is awesome
Good food and service. Great music venue
Great place! My band played a gig there and they were super great and helpful, definitely will come back
It is said that this is the oldest bar in Seattle. It has a really cool vibe. There is food available and the focal point is the stage where many local artists perform. The architecture in this area is amazing.
Not worth it extreme dive bar masquerading as historical place
Awesome place to drink beer and hear live music.
Popular spot before and after games at the stadiums. Last time I was there it was packed but fun.
I wasn't believing, but the beer is really warm. O.o They have live music, that it's not easy to find in Seattle area.
food's pretty good. next door is best gyro in the downtown area. live music. alcohol.
Great for a quick beer before sporting events. Lots of choices, great bar staff.
Been coming since 1983 in my Coast Guard days and still have a great time.
The atmosphere is awesome
Great divey atmosphere. Could use a better beer selection.
Service was quiet horrible, just love when the staff looks at you like you are a pain just for ordering a beer and when they mock you when you ask a question. Place was filthy anyways.
Great place to chill. All the bartenders are awesome. Good bar food and happy hour. Also, The Central Saloon in the oldest bar in Seattle.
I had a very good local bourbon Woodenville I think and the bartender Ocea was amazing!! She helped point us first time in Seattle people in some good directions for coffee and craft breweries for our vacation the next day. Loved the atmosphere and getting see where so many of the bands I love play in their early days!!
Always fun!
Oldest saloon in Seattle if you have a chance go to the Central Saloon and have a drink also the food is pretty bomb! Live music also every night of the week.
Love this place. Amazing live music that never lack in talent. Definitely one of my top 10 favorite bars in Seattle.
Always a BLAST!
Bands play here. The sound is ok. The people are cool.
The sandwiches we're subpar subways sandwiches are much better... the meat was old the bread was hard . Charge more if you have to !!!!! Maybe the owner needs to go to New York City ... believe me you'll make more money
We turning up in here! My 1st time performing in Seattle!
He was very personable and likeable.
Stumbled upon this gem waiting for friends. The staff was friendly and skilled!
Nice Easter pub
Heidi is awesome. Excellent service, fish and chips so good. And a lovely bloody Mary. The menu is wonderful, nice music, busy enough to run into old friends. Highly recommend for a nice time.
Good venue for small concerts
Always a fun place to go to; for both food and music.
