REVIEWS OF Firehouse Lounge IN Texas

Sharon Reynolds

Love the vibe of this place. The bartenders are friendly and their drinks are delicious, and they'll have good DJs on weekends. I love the speakeasy vibe since it's hidden behind a bookcase.

Jessica Rabbit

Its hidden behind a bookcase.

Justin L

Fun little spot to start your night when heading out. Tiny but cozy. Good drinks

jessica herrmann

You go through a book case in the wall which is very cool. Great music and great cocktails. Kind of small and dark but very cool!

Deonna Richardson

Very romantic. My date and i had a very private booth and enjoyed yourself quite a bit.

Mason Severe

This place was really awesome. It’s in the lobby of a hostel on Brazos... hidden behind the bookcase! I was visiting Austin for the first time and my friend said that we had to visit this place. We walked into this hostel and i was really confused, but then boom right behind the bookcase theres an entire speakeasy - super cool experience. The drinks here were really upscale and great - a little on the pricier side so definitely somewhere where you’d want to start your night or get a classy nightcap. Great ambiance (very dark) and from what I understand there is also live music here.

Joe Mazzola

Great cocktails and a super chill vibe!

Jason Ferguson

Busy on Saturday night. Lots of single ladies. I was expecting a lounge not bar scene. But nevertheless liked it a lot. Ordered a Sazerac and it was great.

Luigina del Pozo

Just the coolest spot ever. Live music was insanely good. I might even say the DJ was better playing that old rap music. Cocktails are delicious. And what about that sneaky bookshelf door to get into the place. I mean it just keeps getting cooler from there. Your crowd is eclectic and that is part of its charm. This place is very Austin.

Jacob Remsing

Quirky staff, a bit irreverent but fun people who make a strong, tasty drink. The lounge makes you feel like you were invited to a high class event on the down low

Ella Bella

Great concept and atmosphere. Girl checking ID's pretty snooty. Was still excited as I've wanted to check this place out for years. Clean bathrooms (

Mark Wang

Such a cool place to check out. Great drinks

john skinner

Great speak easy with awesome cocktails. Try the old school whiskey sour.

Emily McGuire

Drinks and atmosphere where amazing. Staff was the best! Extremely friendly and welcoming!

Sentry Alex

Nice and quiet sometimes.

Timothy Tignor

Bartenders really know how to make a drink not only that I really know how to make a drink!

Paul Huebner

Fantastic atmosphere and cocktails. Reading really is fun.

Susie Zander

Great service and fun place to hang out!

Samuel Mitchell

I absolutely love this place. It is one of my favorite places to visit when I’m in Austin. Great drinks, service and phenomenal staff.

Kayla Hendrix

This is a really neat place hidden behind a secret bookcase in the lobby of a hostel. It definitely has speakeasy, old school vibes and is very relaxed and inviting. It is bar service only but the bartenders were very friendly. The cocktails were delicious! I highly recommend Fireside Lounge if you're looking for a more intimate drink near 6th St.

fred fulford

Cool place. Nice secret entrance behind the book case. Nice beers and bar service. Good atmosphere from early on. Worth a visit.

Deborah Adhikari

Staff IS gr8! Love this place

Ryan O'Malley

Cool little hidden spot for a cocktail and beer with live music.

Quinton Favors

Secret entrance, everything you would want

Kayla Riggs

This place was so fun! I took my fiancé here for an after dinner cocktail and it did not disappoint. You enter through a bookshelf that you slide to the side, which is totally awesome and unique. This speakeasy style bar is a great place to grab a handcrafted cocktail and hang out with friends. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because of how hot it is in there. Other than that...great place to go!

Elizabeth Evans

Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. The staff was very sociable and kind. The bill was decent. Wish it was closer to my house, I would come every week.

Jean-François Ager

They have the best cocktails ever.

Kevin Hebert

Great “hidden” gem. Find the door and find some of the best craft cocktails in Austin.

Paul Cole

Awesome crew. Greatest of all time!

Melk M

Great cocktails!! Very cool bar to say the least.

Judd Hagler

Great place to hang out with friends!! Jenga, cornhole, pool, giant connect four game and several board games to play. Inside and outside seating.

Kevin F

Went on a Thursday night and it was one of the best spots that I've been to in Austin so far. The bartender over at Floppy Disk Repair (Another cool spot) told us about it and that it was hidden behind a bookcase. The drinks were great and the bartenders were excellent.

Mal Mooney

Great drinks and music but no AC.

Tracy Nash

Unbelievable. We were turned onto this place by the bartender at the Floppy Disk Repair Co and so glad we found it. Service was better than the cocktails.

Christina Mendez

Firehouse is my go-to spot for happy hour after work. They have amazing bartenders ... Shout out to Bradley and Paul. Bradley makes amazing old fashions. All the staff is really friendly! The weekend evening/nights get pretty packed, but I still like going there for the ambiance and great drinks!

Surya Manchikanti

Sir Quince-a-lot made our experience memorable with history lessons, great discussion and great direction for the rest of our night

Vinny Babauta

Amazing hidden gem with delicious cocktails. These are high quality drinks that take time to make, so don't chug them or expect to have it made in seconds. Enjoy the experience and atmosphere.

Oscar Eppley

Amazing place that is just behind a bookshelf in Austin. The service was fantastic and I felt as if I was in a dive bar away from the whole world. The bartender was extremely nice and made the drinks strong yet delicious. I will be going here for happy hour every time I am in Austin, the only regret I have is I didn’t try the food.

Courtney Radke

The location is neat and is certainly somewhere you like to say you've been to but not really one you come back to. Drinks B+ / Atmosphere B- / Service C+

carlos londono

fantastic place, exelentes bartenders!! delicious drinks

Matthew Justice

Great bar! The Baptist might be my favorite ew drink.

David Ponce

Classic speakeasy in Austin right inside the hostel behind the bookcase

Christina McCarthy

We happened upon this place doing a search during a quick weekend stay in Austin. At first I had to walk all over the entire hostel because the bookcase really threw me off. Once a very kind young man helped us locate it and we were able to enter we were completely blown away. It's like we were tucked into a whole new world! The drinks are incredibly good, the bartender was very easy going and gave us lots of information and quite frankly when we walked out on the street hours later it felt like a dream. I can't wait to go back. Probably one of my top favorite bars I've ever been to.

herrDoctorchoppy

Enter the hostel, smile at reception and head for the bookcase. Use two hands and enter a funky cool space. Read the rules and then head up to the bar and try something new. A perfect afternoon spot to escape the heat. Drinks are very reasonable during the day.

Michael Holliday

Great cocktails. Fun little entrance to the bar.

Sri Harsha Thotakura

Nice cozy bar. Decent selection.

Robert Hillman

Very neat speak easy bar tucked behind a bookshelf. Lots of great drinks.

Gene Gilbert

Cool little dive bar.. Worth a stop if you are nearby

Josie Jackson

I liked the idea of this place, and the decor was cool. I just didn't like the dance club atmosphere of over crowded, DJ bumping, party people. Just not my thing.

Scott Edwards

Secret bar just off 6th. Enter by way of a sliding bookshelf Great vibe and both bartenders could make anything you ask for without delay. Happy hour every day from 4 to 8.

Silvio Lombardi

An essential experience! Intimate, beautiful speakeasy with fabulous cocktails- classic and new creations- hidden behind a bookcase

Veronica Bevhouzen

First time here. I know a speakeasy is small so why the hell did you hire a DJ?! I couldn't hear myself think, we couldn't conversate. Wound up over at the Driskill instead. Drink prices were the same and the atmosphere allowed us to actually enjoy ourselves.

courtney Nicole

It's so funny they have a gay pride flag in their Lobby but yet I'm a transgender woman and they completely disrespected me in the bar. Not once not twice but three times did they refer to me as a man. Like I said completely disrespectful bartenders. One to refer to me as a man like I told one of the bartenders you want to call me and man I'll show you a man we can go out in the back alley. You want to treat me like a lady we can go up to my room. But you guys need to be checked.

Shiga Harim

The first speak easy I have been to and it's amazing with great customer service

Jamie Giron

Love the vibe! Very relaxed and casual. You pass through a fake bookshelf to get through the bar. AC is great, especially during summer months! I had the South Side Story drink, if you like gin!

Patrick O'Hara

I love bringing my friends here when they visit. It’s always fun walking them into the little front lobby and telling them to open the bookcase. Once inside the music and atmosphere is always enjoyable, and the cocktails are fantastic. If you don’t know what you want, the bartenders will whip you up something perfect, they are so knowledgeable in their craft.

Guillaume Thibault

Perfect place for cocktails. The entrance through the bookshelf is fun, and the cocktails really good. You have a large choice of cocktails, but contrary to what the website advertise, there is no food.

David Greenwood

Good people, great drinks and fantastic atmosphere!

The Tommy J

Do not be discouraged by the entrance if you find it

Charles Bastian

This is one of my favorite little bars in Austin. Open the bookshelf and walk through through to the hidden bar. Make sure to stop by when D.J. R.O.C.K.M.A.N. is spinning. And, tip your bartender!

Laura Nelson

Speakeasy style bar in a hostel...move the bookcase to get in! One of my favorite bars downtown where it's not a super young crowd and the cocktails are slammin!

tanisha caballero

Love the cocktails, the atmosphere and the bartenders!

Hector T

Awesome cocktails!! Sometimes not the friendliest staff but the place is worth it

Katrin Sara Sadigh

We happily stumbled into this ultra chic cocktail bar and music venue after a friend's wedding as out-of-towners. Not only did the handsome bartender know his drinks (and make extraordinary not-too-sweet cocktails), but we were also served a fabulous hip-hop session by the night's female DJ. This spot definitely attracts a hot and mixed crowd, and while its small size may make seating a challenge, there's still plenty to appreciate even if standing room only.

John Howell

Went here for a drink before dinner and was not disappointed. Had a great Manhattan and the bartender was excellent. I would definitely recommend this speakeasy type bar. Great ambiance, great drinks, beer selection could be better but, but cocktails are on point

Ben Miller

Always great cocktails.

Jacob Brown

Came in for a drink on Saturday late afternoon. I ended up sitting at the bar, which only had four other people. The bartender didn't acknowledge me or my friend's existence for over ten minutes. One of the few customers at the bar ordered a Tom Collins. The bartender had to look up the recipe, which was taped to the bar. He proceeded to take a solid 6 minutes to make one drink for one customer. I waited a few more minutes without being acknowledged before leaving. Wound up leaving without being served or even greeted. Went to the Driscoll across the street.

Nathan Booth

Amazing atmosphere! Great drinks and cool bar staff.

Annette Garofalo

cool speakeasy. drinks are fair. went to walk through "secret"bookcase entrance. wouldn't go back

Bryan Kemp

Delicious craft cocktails and a very cool vibe.

Sabrina Runbeck

We went there initially to get a code for Floppy Disc Repair Co. and we glad we checked out this speakeasy. The bar is hidden behind a bookcase inside Firehouse hostel. Good drinks. Intimate setting but got crowded quickly.

N W

I love this place. Get the Skeleton Key cocktail and tip all the bartenders your savings account.

Pamela Woods

The food was so savory. The staff was very sociable and kind. Prices were decent.

Alex Coughlin

Anyone I bring to Austin to show around will come here. I love to relax and start/end the night at this swanky, backstreet of New Orleans type bar. Pro tip: try to video your experience as you walk through the bookshelf into a whole new atmosphere away from the hussle of downtown.

Angela Diaz

Super cute speakeasy with great drinks and friendly staff! I LOVE that they have westerns playing on their televisions and the ambiance made it a super fun happy hour for my friends and me.

Heather Hart

Right on 6th Street, so you're in the mix. Fun club with hip hop music and strong drinks.

Poked By Hope

still one of my favorite places.I was a bouncer here and loved the staff as well as their ability to make awesome drinks.

Rohan Jay

Pretty cool speakeasy located on Brazos street. Finder's delight!

Roger Moreno

Coming out of the Ritz one Sunday, we still wanted another drink. We are too Damn old for the "dirty 6 St.",crowd, but I remembered the Firehouse on Brazos. Perfect! Happy hour, cold, dark, quiet, and we'll mixed cocktails. I had a Moscow mule and my partner had a tequila, mezcal drink mixed with orgeat. Excellent and our tab was only $16. Nice way to wind down a Sunday. Must always remember this place for chilling and sipping.

Ryan Thomas

Super cool place. Bartenders are world class and drink prices are pretty reasonable.

Alex S

Rude bartender with a snobby attitude. It was a chubby, light-skinned black guy with long hair and a beard (don't know if they have any other ones, but that's the one I dealt with). I am pretty sure he also skimmed an extra dollar off me in tips. I left him a 1 dollar tip and my credit card statement shows an extra dollar on my bill. So be careful with that guy; if you guys go in there, make sure you keep your copy of the receipt. I tried calling to talk about the issue but couldn't get through. Other than that, it's a nice lounge, but the bartender keeps it at 1 star.

natalie ray

Awesome drinks, awesome atmosphere!

Michael Wilkins

Good drinks. If you going for nice drinks in a cool place here is the place. Pricy, as expected.

Tyler Smith

Great old fashioned drinks and an awesome hidden bar behind the bookshelf

Lee Larson

Some tasty drinks. Very cool vibe. The extremely handsome bartender even made me a birthday drink. Would definitely visit again

Ryan Cataño

I love this lounge as it is very intimate! Quincy at the bar did great tending to us with awesome cocktails!

Nicki Quinn

Amazing place, IF you can find it #SecretBar

Ana Delgado

Cool underground cocktail bar that can take you away from the hustle and bustle of 6th street. Great negroni and good bartenders. A real cocktail spot

Michael Burke

Loved the entrance. Super awesome spot. Could have been a little darker and more "speakeasy", but that's nitpicky. The drinks were awesome, bartenders were awesome. We had a great time!

Greg Kessing

A Speakeasy throwback to the prohibition days. Awesome atmosphere with a great selection of classic drinks.

yvette renteria

Great place

Chloe Hawkings

This place is a interesting spot behind a bookcase. I really enjoyed the vibe and on Saturday the DJ played some classics that made you want to dance. It’s a nice place to hang out but the cocktails are just okay and there isn’t a set dance floor. It was a lot of fun though!

C Stein

Super cool place! Behind a bookshelf at a hostel you will find Firehouse Lounge! Small and intimate little place. Dark and mysterious corner booths. Little tables with candles flickering. The cocktails were pretty delicious. Stuck to the same one (Moscow mule) for the short time we were visiting. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. We went in a Friday and there was a DJ. Would have been slightly more awesome to have more of a singer songwriter vibe with the live music, but hey I don't book talent so who knows. Otherwise, fantastic little place. Worth the few minute walk from out hotel.

Peter Messana

I feel like I shouldn't leave a review for this place so that others do not find it. It is a gem, perfectly hidden behind the library door and once inside you do not feel like you are in Austin or in the middle of the city. Just in a cool place that has friendly bar tenders and great drinks. The only drawback is that it sometimes smells a bit, maybe because there isn't a great way to air it out.

Christine Jones

Cool staff and fun location. Say hi to Lou and Bradley!

Roy Hammonds

This is a "secret" bar because the entrance is a sliding bookshelf. If that's your thing, then this place is for you. Enjoy fine cocktails and a cozy atmosphere.

Dan Considine

Dark and mysterious good cocktails

Bradley Lewis

I love showing Austin newcomers this spot. Sixth street’s best kept secret.

Jeff Lam

Great little bar with a relaxing atmosphere. Good people, good drinks, can't complain.

Dan Berger

best cocktail i had in austin. cool speakeasy nicely hidden but not to hard to find

Dale Noel

Best old fashioned in Austin. Great bartenders. Relax and don't be in a rush.

Peter Lamberta

If you can find it, it's worth stopping for a drink.

A Anderson

Quincy is one of the best mixologists in town

Juho Lepparanta

Good drinks and music. Will be going again.

Mitch Morgan

Secret entrance was awesome.

Austin Green

Great little spot. A bit expensive so I can't go as much as I would like but you get what you pay for, not some watered down beverage. Whiskey Sour here is amazing!

Carissa Colwell

Sneaking suspicion this is an old speakeasy. You have to sneak past the front desk of the hostle and slide the bookcase aside to reveal the neat little bar inside.

Akriti singh

Good music. Good ambience. Slippery seat

brandie baker

Cozy speakeasy bar with great music. Loved it.

Kevin Milner

Great place for craft cocktails and a great setting behind the bookcase.

Brandon Propst

Good cocktails. Totally worth a visit to this hidden bar if you are doing the Austin hidden bar crawl.

Diane Harris

This is quite simply the best cocktail bar in Austin. Hands down. They have a consistent quality about their drinks. Plus, in the rare occasion they have new staff, it shows they actually train them and care about their reputation. Friday, and Saturday nights are always packed. What do you expect from a bar of this regard! Amazing service and magnificent bartenders.

J Tyler Thompson

Super nifty and cozy place. The drink menu is awesome, bartenders are great. Only problem is the live music. Space is way too small for the volume that they play the music at.

Jossie Rivera

Cute hidden bar behind a bookshelf. Loved their cocktails and atmosphere.

Jasmine Albrecht

Such a neat place!!! I love that you have to enter through the secret book case. The decore was definitely unique. There were tables made out of old sewing machines and that damask pattern with velvet on the wall paper. It was darkly lit but so stinking cool. The drinks we had were great as well. I has a Henry Wallbanger and my friend had a sidecar. Both were delicious.

Mihir Hulikal

This is a secret hidden cosy place in the middle of all the downtown noise that has good ambience for a night out. Get a crowd and you will not regret the experience. The entrance to this place is a book shelf that slides open!

Domitilla Di Marco

Very nice spot, it was suggested by a friend and we were very happy with our cocktails. Bar tender recommended a few, which we happily tried, and it was delicious. Atmosphere overall is cozy yet the place has character and good music. A very good choice for enjoying some drinks with friends.

Diana Duangnet

A cozy spot to grab drinks. It was fun opening the "secret" door to get in. The bartenders were friendly and made delicious drinks.

Nick Driscoll

Cool, intimate speakeasy located right downtown. You enter by sliding a book shelf on rails that doubles as the door.

Adrian Phillips

If you haven't been... spoiler alert! You're gonna be taken back! It's a very unique place with great vibes!

Andrea Vasquez

Came here for a friend's birthday. And it was super cool. First time ever at a Hostel and one of the best nights. The location is perfect. Make sure you get a beer at the bar before you hit 6th street. Its so much fun. Cool vibes, friendly staff. Definitely a place to stay at if you want to stay in the heart of Austin's Downtown.

Ashleigh Jordan

So great for out of towners! A hostel hidden bar here. No cover on a Saturday night and great cocktails! Wait to look at the bar menu before you order from the on top of the bar menu in chalk.

Mridul Garg

Great hidden place at the end of Dirty Sixth, great cocktails and cozy seating. Completely opposite vibe than rest kf Dirty 6th tho, won't find people throwing up here :)

Laura Kosmerl

Fantastic bartenders and awesome drinks! Paul and Matt always make sure you have a good time!

Matt & Glynis Burnett

If you want the best cocktails you've found the place!

Tom Spiegel

Friendly staff, even for (high) Austin standards. Great beer selection, good whiskey selection and knowledgeable staff that can give proper recommendations. Location is an added bonus with the entry through the bookshelf.

Brent Philbin

Wow - this place had a great place in my heart until today. My girlfriend fell trying to get a glass of water, which was inexplicably on a stairway. She didn't see it and took a tumble. Our fault, no big deal, so I went to the bar to get a glass of water. I stood in line patiently for 10 minutes. The drinks here take a long time to make, I get that. Then I was at the bar and noticed the barback wasn't busy and I tried to get his attention - obviously anyone can get me a glass of water. What was the response? The bar tender told me not to talk to him. Then he says "do you want his number or something? Hey what's your number this guy wants your number?" He also added some homophobic slurs that I won't repeat. What???? That's the most insane response ever. Tossing aside how homophobic that is, how is that the response there? That's the most absurd thing anyone has ever said to me. I told them they're out of water and that's what I was asking for. Begrudgingly the bar back gets me a glass of iceless water. Not the hardest thing in the world, but he decided I needed to be slurred in the process. The guy who decided to say I needed to get someone's number instead of a glass of water was wearing a red hat, grey shirt, beard, and it said damn on it. He didn't give me his name but if I get a picture I will update. Stay away especially if you're part of the lgbtq community.

Terry Ruiz

On point! Every time! Thanks guys!!

Jennifer Grant

Fun place, decent drinks, good djs.

Danielle Jordan

I’m a plus size woman, and I requested a bottom bunk. Thank God I was put in the room with wooden well build bunkbeds. I haven’t slept in a bunk bed since 1995. I enjoyed my stay the facilities were very clean.

Dan Salter

Unusual spot - behind the bookcase. Drinks are well done, on the small side though. Small venue, can get very crowded. Millenial crowd with 90's music. Very loud.
