Our party of 5 went in for brunch on our bachelorette trip. Natalie, the hostess, seated people in front of us, came back to ask how many we had in our party, and then proceeded to tell us we could not be accommodated due to a large party. There were people that were seated after us. We would have loved to have tried this place, however we were not extended that privilege due to being turned down by Natalie.

I’m pretty sure the chef here is an actual wizard. That’s the only way they could create a menu as original, creative, and uniquely delicious as they have. Every bite will blow your mind because literal magic comes out of this kitchen. They have great cocktails too, the vibe is unmatched in Charleston, and this is one of my favorite spots for a night out.

Visiting from Nashville, we were looking for a small, well executed menu. After walking aimlessly we stubbles up this place. The happy hour 5$ starters and cocktails immediately caught us. Staff is very friendly. Atmosphere is relaxing and food is great. The ny strip was delicious and accompanied by ingredients by flavors and ingredients that not unusual but not normal for most. Spinach, bone marrow to give you an idea. Ian, our bartender, was great.

Great spot to come to during the day. Have plenty of beers to choose from if you’re not a hard alcohol drinker. Made good drinks for everyone. House bourbon whiskey was Makers Mark, which I thought was good as a house choice if someone just wanted a nice mixed drink. Very friendly bartenders, asked them about different bottles, they had answers to any bottle we pointed at. Ask them about the Whistle Pig, as the bottle gets emptied, the more expensive the shot gets. Very cool place located on King Street.

Wings and beer were good, however we were a little confused on why a little girl (assuming the owners daughter) was working behind the bar and bussing tables. I don't mind teaching kids how to work but a little girl should not be behind the bar or serving customers especially with child labor laws. Owner replied to my review and has a wonderful sense of humor.

Went for my sisters Bach party sat night. Upon entering we went straight to the bar and 2 of us took a seat when a couple got up. We waited for about 5 min on the three working bartenders - one, Jessica, completely ignored us until my sister flagged her attention. She gave us an extra vodka water when we asked for a round of waters with our drinks and when we told her we didn’t order it she condescendingly told us we did. She was extremely rude processing our payment and started our night off on a sour note. The rest of the night wasn’t bad - cool outside patio area.

Charleston is quickly becoming an outstanding food and drink destination and Prohibition is an example of what makes the city a great place place to dine. The food was delicious, with an eclectic menu of southern inspired and modern American dishes. Everything on our table was good, but my shrimp and grits was worth calling out as great. The service was very good, with an attentive server that engaged us in conversation, made worthy recommendations, knew the menu and was easy to find when needed. The ambiance was unpretentious and fun and there was even live music that was good and at a volume that was enjoyable if you wanted to hear it yet unobtrusive if you would rather have a conversation with your dining partner.

I'm not sure I've been to a classier bar in my life. I enjoy bourbon very much and, rarely, I'll treat myself to some top shelf pours. Not only did this bar have Col E. H. Taylor and Pappy Van Winkle 10, 12, and 15 year, the bartender knew his liquor and the presentation was amazing. If I ever find myself in Charleston again for business or pleasure, I'll always visit this particular bar. If you're looking for a laid back experience and knowledgeable staff, I can't recommend Prohibition enough.

I made reservations at the prohibition on Kings street in Charleston SC at 8:30 pm on a Saturday for a date night with the wife. It was supposed to be a relaxing night filled with good food and drinks. This location was in high praise so I figured I would try it out. I booked a high top table, looked up the menu online, and was convinced this was a great place to go. We get there at 835 pm. We get told that there at seats out on the patio, even though I reserved a high top table inside. We decided to try outside to see how it was. The whole way back out there we were told how great and refreshing it was outside. It was 79 degrees out, with high humidity. Looking over the menu given to us, I can quickly recognize that what I looked up online was drastically different. In particular, the 5 course meal online was $55 but then the physical menu said it was $65. I asked about what happened to our table that was reserved and the discrepancies in the menus. Apparently there are tiers in the reservations you make, and we were not important enough to have any of the 8 empty tables inside. And when it came to the menu, "yea, I don't know about that but this is more updated so this is what we go off of," was the answer I got. The last question I had was, do you offer a military discount. She didn't know the answer, and when she said she would ask around, apparently no one else knew an answer. We left very shortly after that. In total we wasted 20 to 30 minutes. We ended up at Ink and Ivy a couple of stores over and had some of the best service we've had while living in Charleston. TL;DR: reservations here are in tiers, hope you're special enough. Don't look up the menu online, it's from 2017. And they can't answer simple questions. I don't see any reason to ever try and go back or recommend this place.

OMG I'm a flight attendant on a layover in Charleston SC and just had a cocktail and happy hour at Prohibition. Cory, with the beautiful hair, our bartender, made our visit extra special. I had a perfect Negroni as did one of my flying partners while the other friend had a brown ale. We had locally grown oysters that were sweet, cold and delicious. Then we had the deviled eggs with smoked salmon and caviar followed by seared brussels sprouts in a yummy sauce. And I topped off the experience with a grapefruit tart that was a cross between a tart and pie. We stayed two hours and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I'll be back in Charleston next week and I'm going right back to Prohibition. Oh and if you're into salsa you can take a salsa dance class tonight at 8 and hear a salsa band starting at 9pm.

Reservations made for 8:30pm on a Friday evening. Long story short. Never took our dinner order and the waiter was MIA 90% of the time. This was a table of 8. Apps were placed. However, was supposed to come back for our dinner order. Waiter never came back and told us kitchen is closed and told us to go to another restaurant for food. This is now 10:10pm. On the way out, he told us “Good Luck in finding food”. Well thanks prohibition for not giving any type of service. Their kitchen closed at 10pm - somehow it was our fault. Three stars only given because the bartender was great while some of us were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. Went an hour prior to our reservations. On top of it, charged me twice for the bill. I think we just got the wrong waiter for a large group.

I can't say for sure how the food or drinks are because we were never waited on. We sat at a table between two other tables and the server came over several times to check on them and turned her back to us each time. Never acknowledged we were there. It wasn't even busy. We left and went to Ink and Ivy where we had a wonderful time and enjoyed it immensely.

The service was great. They were ready for us on time for our reservations. I had the Roasted Carrots and the Seared Scallops for an appetizer and the Duck Breast as my main course. All were very good. I would definitely suggest Prohibition as a stop for anyone in town.

This bar has won several rewards for their cocktails for good reason! The atmosphere in incredible, reminiscent of 1920's speakeasies, with the servers in uniforms to emphasize the ambiance. The servers are always friendly, and helpful. When seated at the bar, even when they are crazy busy, the bartenders will often chat and make us feel welcome. The food is amazing, and I would (and do) eat here often.

Their kitchen has some strange hours , so I would call to see when their kitchen is open if you are trying to eat a full meal. Has a really a fun old style atmosphere. This place is loud and popular at night. It's hard to tell what it is from the outside because the sign is hard to see. There is street parking, but the whole strip of bars, restaurants, and shops is very walkable. There is live music at night in the front part of the bar. Behind that bar is another smaller room with another bar. Keep walking back and you will come to the third and final bar on the patio. Everything was very nice and drinks were good. This is definitely a more high end bar with specialty cocktails. The patio is nice with a lot of spaces for large groups.

Our server, Jonathan recommended a wine that I really loved. Get the deviled eggs. They were, hands down, the best thing that we tried. I already miss them.

We went there on a Friday evening, it was alive with people and music. We sat at the bar and were delighted to just watch thr skillful barmen craft flavorful cocktails. We had their speciality old fashioned and it was delicious. We tried the brussel sprouts and found them to be addictive. We had to come back the next day to get them again and sample more of the dishes and cocktails. Thoroughly recommended place. Saturday we were in was slower than the Friday, but i don't know if it's always the case.

Tuesday is Havana Nights, and if you like or love Cuban music and salsa dancing, this is the place to be. The band is outstanding! The salsa instructor was great the people seemed to be having a good time. The staff was very nice and professional. Nice crowd with the exception of a couple of drunks-that appear to be regulars-- really nice environment.

When we walked in, the hostess just stared at us. Didn’t welcome us or anything. Finally get a table and the waitress got annoyed when we asked about drink prices. Didn’t see her much the rest of the night. The food is way overpriced for the quality. Fries tasted burnt and soggy. Burger was overdone and bland. Didn’t even taste like they salted it. Went there with my boyfriend and another couple. But the waitress just brought out one ticket...for two couples. Never asked how we wanted the check. Very poor experience. We won’t be back.

Ian has been the most amazing bartender I have ever experienced. The food is out of this world 50/10 make this your first stop. The oysters are amazing with their house made hot sauce. The chicken sandwich is savory and makes you want to order another over and over. The wings are perfect for every palette being complimented with the Gorgonzola ranch. I’ve experienced the most amazing drinks with incredible talent shown by the staff here at prohibition. You’ve made visiting South Carolina a vacation I could never forget.

There are too many great restaurants around to ever have to waste your time eating here. We attended the “Bluegrass brunch”. I put that in quotes because the musicians did not play bluegrass music, and that was the main reason I chose to bring my grandparents here on their visit. We were incredibly disappointed. The eggs Benedict and chicken and biscuits were all soggy with sauce that was not satisfying, and overall lacking flavor. And nothing came with a side and the portions were very small for the price. The service and atmosphere were great. As a local, I may come back for a drink, but I will never, ever eat here again.

Lordy was the burger fantastic. I was just hoping for normal or nice but it was excellent. Bacon butter or something was really killing it. My wife agreed... validation! Drinks were great as well. We choose some off the list that were unique to Prohibition. I had something where they aged the whole thing in a barrel and the Wife Unit did a habanero pineapple drink. Love them. We also popped in for brunch. Home run! Loved the Eggs Benedict. They also had this cold coffee, rum, cinnamon cream beverage which was AMAZING! Also, check out the donuts. The atmosphere is great as well, bar is great. They have a patio space out back. I'd go again.

This place is incredible. The outdoor patio is such a friendly environment to enjoy the delicious seafood. Our server Zach was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He guided us through the menu to find the best appetizers and entree. He had some great suggestions for cocktails as well.

Went for brunch and it was not very busy at all. The drinks are delicious, they have unique options with some in-house flavor-infused alcohols such as ginger-infused gin, and jalapeno-infused vodka. The entrees as our table were slightly bland. However, my shrimp benedict was delicious. Highly recommend: ginger gimlet

I went on Friday Night and was blown away with the show! The entertainers set the stage on fire with their singing, dancing and humor! The dinner was a perfect compliment and truly delicious. Chef Cristian designed a tasty fixed menu. The craft cocktails are also truly unique. My favorite is "You had me at Hibiscus," and is listed as a Top 20 Cocktail in Houston. Wanting more dinner theater, I also saw the once monthly "Long Island Boys," which was so much FUN for everyone! Plus, the buffet dinner was really yummy and offered a good variety of dishes. I especially enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller and roast chicken which is juicy and tender. I had heard about this dinner theater from other friends and I am So Happy I finally attended a couple of performances! I was entertained, loved the food and craft cocktails! I will be back to see all the shows!!

Paying a cover for no band sucks but the place is epic. Go during the week for free entry and wonderful cocktails.
