When you ignore people smoking weed in the parking lot, they start doing lines in the bathroom. It’s just a matter of time until its raided and we don’t need that drama. Management and the owners (if they care) needs to pay attention to what’s going on!

Live music, cold beer, good crowd, outdoor smoking & a pool table

Nick-A-Nees is a thoroughly enchanted dive. Live music acts are diverse and consistently excellent. Bring only a predetermined beer allowance or you'll never leave.

This is a great dive bar, exactly what you want a dive bar to be.

One of the last old school feel bars in Providence. Live music most nights. Dog friendly. Great mix of people that go there. They have small menu of good food. Cash only but there is a ATM on site.

This dive bar is great. It houses a pool table, live bands, friendly bar tenders and yummy drinks. Last night a band Slow Boat Home played, it was a cool variety of Americana and juke joint blues. Great match with the atmosphere.

As an outsider, I prefer to dodge the tourist traps and experience what some locals may call their home away from home. I've visited this place twice in two weeks and had a great experience each time. Bartenders are friendly and drink prices fair. Dog friendly. They have an outside seating area where you can bring your drinks. They have the wildest coasters, each with a puzzle (some easier than others). They placed two older jukeboxes (with the page turning CD books) next to each other and a long bench in front so you can take your time. $1 gets you 10 plays... seriously.

True Dive bar with great live music.

Always class acts in one of the few neighborhood bars left in Providence!

The last of a dying breed-the inner city neighborhood dive bar. The greatest jukeboxes I've ever seen, a $1 pool table, great selection of alcohols (they even have my favorite bourban-Buffalo Trace-which is hard to find) and bartenders that are somewhat gruff until they get to know you. To top it all off, you will see some of the best local musicians around and there's no cover! Drinks are very reasonably priced and they even have some bar food you can eat in a pinch. Or, a local place that's pretty good will deliver to you there. Also, it's dog friendly. Lastly, it's a real eclectic clientele. From the artsy RISD crowd to old guys like me, it's friendly , laid back and welcoming. I've spent a few lazy afternoons there playing pool and discussing topics from the politics of Cuba to the drumming of Ginger Baker to the physics of String Theory. Its hard to beat that.

I may be a bit bias because I get to sing a few with The House Combo that plays on Monday nights, but I also think that qualifies me to speak on my feelings about this bar. I've been coming here for about 10 years, although only here and there the first few years when I moved to Providence. It was about 5 years ago when I started going more regularly and was introduced to Monday nights and The House Combo. Now I have been there on many other nights and all have been extremely enjoyable, and in different ways. This isn't a fancy place, but they welcome everyone, even dogs, have great music and a laid-back atmosphere. I can't think of one bad thing I could say.
