We came here after watching the opera for late dinner, and it didn't disappoint. We were at what you will call the basement, as above is the piano bar, although they also have a bar downstairs. I had dark plus a burger, which was nice, except that the fries tasted greasy. Fine, helpful service by the lone service staff guy that time of a Friday evening. That space is rather quiet, which was awesome.

I wouldn’t normally recommend a restaurant in a gay bar. But the restaurant downstairs is one of the best Gastro pubs in Philadelphia. And I’ve eaten at them all

Had a lovely meal in this nice gay friendly restaurant until ... after we paid the bill (for 6 people), the waiter asked us to leave because he needed the table for a reservation coming up. This occurred under 5 minutes after the bill was paid (we were in the process of putting our jackets on). -2 stars for this fatal mistake. Won't ever be back.

Went during line-dancing tonight!!! Very fun until someone came up to my group of friends to tell them not to line-dance because they were disrespecting the “dancers”! Real buzzkill so we left. That’s all I have to say about that place.

Really small, the place smells. Good thing is Free cover. But the old man bartender in the second floor started laughing when asked for a bottle of water. Started laughing so ridiculous and then charged $4 for it. Also purchased drinks from him and two days later a $224 charge appeared in my credit card. Had to report it to the bank. It got reversed a week laterz I think he was high. I can only say I dont care if he laughs cause he’s the bartender not me ;)

Awesome singalong night upstairs, with so many great classics: Disney movies, Grease, Sound of Music, Rent and all kinds of other movie musicals. Gets a bit sloppy by the end of the night. A sassy bartender gave me a dirty look for ordering water (??)

I had been going there for years but something is wrong there now. I went outside and the security guard wouldn't let me back in much to my surprise and to the surprise of the bartender and my friend who was still inside. I told the security guard that my tab was still open and I had just gotten another beer. He made me stay outside while he went in to bring out my tab. I still tipped the bartender generously because he did nothing wrong. As I waited outside, others were allowed to stumble in. I couldn't help but notice that they were much younger than I. I will never go back.

Definitely did not feel welcome by the staff. My wife tried to sing with the piano player and was declined. Patrons were very friendly with recommendations of drinks. Staff not so much

Yesterday, my husband, a friend, and I went to Philly to celebrate our wedding anniversary. After having dinner at Knock, my husband wanted to go to Tavern on Camac. So we went and since we live in Wilmington DE, I could not drink because I needed to drive back to Wilmington. Our mutual friend, from West Chester met us in Philly and she also had to drive back to West Chester, ergo, she couldn't drink either. We, my friend and I had already had one drink with our dinner at Knock. So my husband was the only one who could drink. We bought him a drink at Tavern but apparently he was not drinking fast enough and we were not drinking at all because we had to drive. This did not sit well with the bartender because he approached us and unceremoniously kicked us out of the bar stating "If you are not going to buy drinks you can't stay here." As we exited the bar, I suggested to the security guard that they place signs stating the minimum purchase required and how fast these need to be consumed. Having a sign at the entrance gives patrons a clear idea of what consumption requirements the establishment has. I hope the manager at Tavern seriously considers this advise and train the bartenders on how to treat customers.

The best piano bar in Philly. Friday and Saturday nights can be busy around the piano on the main (first floor). Second floor is a dance floor those nights, and has a popular show-tunes video sing a long on Sunday nights.

Ambiance is cool and it's nice how much they have live performance, but they clearly don't want women here. Regardless of your age, if you look like a woman, you'll be carded-- tho the guys you come with won't be. Be prepared to pay for water.

I have been going to TOC for a little over a year now and I love it! My favorite spot is downstairs at the bar to enjoy an amazing meal and great drinks with Eddy! Its nice to get a table as well when I have friends and family visiting the city. The piano bar upstairs is wonderful and has a great vibe. I recommend this place to everyone!

One of my favorite bars, I'm here at least once a week. Sometimes the bartenders think a good drink means a heavy handed drink, but they are generally okay. The food downstairs is amazing, I highly recommend the porchetta and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. The piano bar is great fun for any day of the week, but upstairs is hit or miss. Check out the upstairs on Tuesdays and Sundays for Karaoke and Showtunes Sunday respectively.

I can really only speak on the piano bar. Every time I go I have a fantastic time. Never overly crowded. Drinks are on the higher side as far as price but they’re delicious. Staff has always been nice. The pianists are always amazing.

One of the most diverse locations in the gayborhood. It includes a wonderful restaurant downstairs, a piano bar on the first floor and a night club on the top floor. Creative chef and some of the most delightful bartenders in town.

Piano bar was up and alive. But.... the basement bar/restaurant was the worst of all the places we have been to during the day. Bartender/waitress was NOT friendly or talkative at all. She only spoke to the 2 workers there and gave the most ackward stink eye to the male patrons as if we were not the paying clientele that she wanted. Leaves Much to be disired when coming to a gay friendly bar in “gayborhood”.

I am a big fan of Tavern on Camac in all regards except the space (it’s sooo small, leading to a very crowded piano bar and dance floor upstairs). The atmosphere is really great, and the crowd is usually really chill. The downstairs piano bar, where you can go at night for live singing (which you can even participate in!) is really fun. The dance floor upstairs, although small, is great fun to dance on (they also play subjectively better music than some other places like Voyeur and Woody’s). There is even a restaurant downstairs for hanging out in when the upstairs gets too crowded, or to go to for a nice lunch or dinner.

Not sure .. gone back four times since they re-opened.. not sure but something is wrong with the bartenders... there seems to have no knowledge of mixed drinks.. (for some of us to don't drink beer this can be bad...) and there is is clique going on there... and had a friend's drink cleared by the bar-back guy and we politely told the bartender but it seemed like he thought we were lying (mind you we had been there for an hour listening to the piano).. NOT RECOMMENDING ANY FRIENDS TO GO BACK THERE OR

Love this place so much, the music is great and up to date, and the bar is nice (a little expensive) . If you wanna get a drink I’d suggest get it at the downstair’s bar, because it’s faster and friendlier (just make sure you can get back upstairs, cuz sometime if it’s too crowded on the dance floor, and you would have to wait in line to get back in).

The night was going well, got a couple of beers. My boyfriend even sang a song with the piano man. Then, the bouncer decided to come over, even though we didn't see him the whole night, not even at the door when we got there, and ask for our IDs. We were all of age by a couple years, but he decided to argue and harass us because three of us were from out of state. After, he was extremely rude to all of us so we decided to leave and he harassed us the whole way out of the door. Just shows how poor attitudes can ruin an establishment.

Tommy is the BEST bartender in the Gayborhood! He always pays attention to his patrons and makes sure to serve everyone in the order they arrive. He makes fantastic drinks and is very friendly. Honestly I come to Tavern on Camac just for Tomy’s drinks. You can find him on the left hand side of the upstairs bar.

The live music was fantastic. I visited a year ago and have never found such a gem before or since this place. Not sure if it's still there but there was a great karaoke bar upstairs if that's your thing and a laid back atmosphere on the piano level. My only regret is that I found this place so early in my travelling experience and nothing can compare to it yet. Literally a piano bar and live music worth travelling for.

It's sad this is the best bar in Philadelphia. On the first floor, a sea of white men wearing gingham shirts meet to relive the tightly buttoned social moires of highschool theatre. On the second floor, the DJ aggressively makes way for Jesus by mixing beats beyond the dancing abilities of our terrestrial bodies. In the basement you can contemplate Philadelphia over swirly deviled eggs. All the while locals draw the wrong conclusions about went wrong with their own lives, it's Philadelphia's greatest gay bar.

I loved this place 5-6 years ago. Now the drink prices have gotten ridiculous! $5.50 for a domestic bottle despite the bar menu saying $5.00!!!! I don’t even pay this much at bars in nyc! I guess they are including a tip now??! Sorry but this place is certainly not classy enough to charge over 550% of cost! Lol!! The upstairs “club” is hideous as well!

Tavern on Camac is great because of the piano player who invites guests to sing along to requested tunes. It's also great because downstairs is a cozy pub-like spot and upstairs is a club space. The crowd gets prettier as the night moves along. Just know the bartenders are cute boys who probably never took a class about how to make drinks. For dinner - Had the cod. It looked disappointing but was actually really good with the chutney. My drink was good too. The servers, well, seemed tired and worn out. The piano bar service was much better but i wouldn't suggest going for the piano playing, was actually karaoke at one point.

The oldest Gay bar in Philly, Pennsylvania and perhaps the USA. Alway greattach piano players who let you sing. (If you have a good voice that is) As one person complained... they had a sassy bartender... OF COURSE THEY DO IT IS A FUN GAY BAR.

This place should have their liquor license reviewed. I was in here one time when there was a patron next to me that was intoxicated. He was intoxicated to the point that he was touching other patrons in an unwanted manner. The bartender witnessed this and ignored it. The bartender then continued to serve the patron drinks until he fell down and could not talk on his own. Ultimately, the police and ambulance had to be called and the patron escorted out because this establishment served an intoxicated patron drinks beyond what they should've been served. Then, my roommate patronized this place. They served him many drinks. Again, even though he was acting out, touching other patrons, yelling, kissing strangers, they did not stop serving him drinks. He is lucky I was there to cut him off because the bartender did not. He left speaking incomprehensibly and could not walk in a straight line. I was afraid he might walk into the patco train tracks. When will too much be enough for Camac? They might have blood on their hands from serving too many drinks and someone walking out and not even realize it.
