This is such a wonderful place to eat and relax. The wait staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is very laid back. Very clean and with just the right amount of lighting (not too dim for my 60 year old eyes and definitely not too bright). We had docked at Penn's Landing and walked about a third of a mile because we wanted to go to the observation deck. But on the way we, once again, stopped at JJ Bootleggers. Why, the roast beef sandwiches, that's why! Juicy and yes you can get more gravy on the side; and oh did I tell you they were juicy and delicious. Just great food and a nice atmosphere. Oh and guess what, very reasonable pricing. Surprising for center city but wow, we all (4 of us) ate our fill for less than $60. So take that savings and tip well, they deserve it.

I treated myself to lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. My server Alex was very pleasant and accomodating. The atmosphere was everything i thought it would be. Love the wood and the lighting is perfect, whether u want to spend time alone or in the company of someone else. Absolute hidden jewel in Old City.

Place is understaffed. Tried going to the bar which was empty, however, some obnoxious couple with young children nearby were causing quite the nuisance. Left, not going to waste money at some a crappy place when there are plenty of options nearby. This ridiculous couple sat in booth near the bar and their kids kept jumping off the stairs running around jumping - ridiculous. Staff did nothing and barely any staff available - it was good the bartender was MIA so that we didn't waste money ordering drinks here.

It was my 1st time in this establishment to meet up with a friend after work for a bite and drinks. I entered and wasn't greeted by the bartender at all just stared at with the "What are doing in here face"? As, if African Americans aren't allowed in this establishment. The only reason I choose this place was due to the website stating that it closed at 2am... NOT TRUE. It was totally empty so I sat at a table and ordered a drink as I awaited my friend. The bartender/server kept staring at Us and coming to the table in a manner RUSHING Us. The drink was weak but the wings were good. I'm not interested in a second visit if this is the way African American patrons are treated.

The food is Amazing! The drinks are good too! The atmosphere is fun! There's giant Jenga and connect four. The restroom was very clean!... they even had a restroom attendant when I was there. Nice music mix! I'm an 80's baby and I really enjoyed the music choices here. Be careful playing giant Jenga as the blocks are made with solid wood and if you're not careful you may get a splinter!

Food was ok. The service as kind of bad. Didn’t introduce herself or smile or say anything. Asked us “do you guys want any drinks besides water?” Got the bottomless mimosas, bellinis, AND bloody Mary’s**. Was NOT told whatsoever that you “pick one and that’s it”. It’s $20 to get just the bottomless drinks. Was later informed that it was bottomless mimosas OR bellinis OR bloody Mary’s. Apparently the drink you pick originally is “what you get, and it’s up to the bartender”. False advertising. Won’t go again. Don’t recommend you go either. There are better bottomless brunches.

Had a long day at work, and went here to grab a beer afterwards. Initially was worried about the service because it was so busy, but the bartender was moving really quickly. Big fella took our order and made our cocktails perfectly. Excellent music also, great DJ.

Came here for Superbowl and they told us that we all had to be out by 5 to clear everything out and when we left to get in line they changed the story and let people stay and made us wait. They didn't know their specials. Never waste your money here.

Drinks are awful. Blueberry mule is basically water, coloring agents and a drop of MOONSHINE. Looks loke Koolaid. Service is ok but the bar game is really weak. Try it if you're already extremely drunk and have lost your standards.

Several visits to this bar based on my friends liking it. We always seem to get moved around when we are here. One time, we were mistaken for a tour group but we caught them flat and it became a crowded mess. Another time, we were seated, served, and hustled to move away from our tables because we were in the DJ area. Don't seat a group of 10 in an area you will need soon. We helped the DJ move tables and our stuff so he could setup. Good guy.

Literally ate here two days ago for the first time & got food poisoning. All I had was a chicken sandwich & fries! Got sick about 2hours after eating and have been sick the entire weekend! Never again!

I called last minute for large party of 17, the manager Mark was awesome and was able accommodate us with only a days notice. Our waitress Tori was amazing as well the food was awesome. We had a great time and the food delicious.

Probably closer to 3.5 stars. There is a parking lot across the street which is nice and why I wound up here killing time before meeting people at another venue. Some interesting and pretty good moonshine drinks here. Ok atmosphere. The first girl who served me was not particularly friendly. She pretty much wanted to spend time on her phone and just kept wandering off. Finally I started dealing with a different bartender there who was super nice. I would probably go here again but not sure I would go out of my way to do so.

The food was absolutely fantastic, but the service was horrible. One person at the table got her cheese steak before anything else came out...including appetizers. Another one had to ask about his burger because we're pretty sure the waitress forgot it. Not entity the waitress's fault though as the place seemed really understaffed for a Saturday.

The food was good and the waitress was very nice,. However we were a party of 8 (literally the only customers in the place) and it took more than 45 minutes for our orders to come out. When they did they came out one by one, one order was wrong and had to be redone. Another item was wrong and was exactly what the person asked for it not to be (she was very allergic). The order that was completely redone was out before one person's order; he ended up just getting it to go. Overall the food was very good, the waitress was very nice, but that turned into a 90 minute lunch filled with miscues.

This was great! The bartenders were beyond friendly and attentive. The decor is pretty darn cool, and there are even some games you can play scattered about! We had the bread pudding which was KILLER, holy moly ill have dreams about it for decades to come. The drinks are all based off of "moonshine", the stuff you can get in mason jars in the grocery store. I came here at 9ish on a rainy Sunday and no one was here, which probably made it better but who knows.

Took the average of 2 reviews - bar and restaurant. Bar - 3 stars In all honesty, it’s a great bar (for drinks). Service was decent, the drinks were good, not terribly expensive. Restaurant and food - 1.5 stars I would give it a 0 because of the service. We would receive server interaction every 30 minutes at best, and took around an hour and a half to receive our food. While it was during the pride parade, the restaurant was not “packed”, and had several open tables. The food was good (once it was received), but took almost an hour and a half to get. We were told the kitchen was backed up, but that long for chips and queso makes a backed up kitchen seem a little ridiculous. Additionally, 2 minutes after we asked to speak to a manager, the food was brought out. I’m not saying don’t come here, but if you’re looking for somewhere to get a quick bite to eat, pick somewhere else. Anything but “quick”. Update - manager removed the food from the check claiming that the server was not to ring in any more food due to the back up, and was a miscommunication. Updated rating to 1.5 stars.

I'd been introduced to this bar during a "haunted bar tour" that ended here (no this place is not haunted.) I was ecstatic because I LOVE Ole Smokey's and have been stocking it at home for the last few years. Was excited to bring a visiting friend here... what a mistake. Our service was terrible. The waitress ignors us as much as she could, and kept leaving things off our orders... sauces were missing from dishes and garnishes from drinks. And when we requested them, she took forever to remedy the situations with a huffy "we're really putting her out" attitude. We were there during the day, which may have been part of the problem, but I can't imagine it being any better when it's busier at night (when I had been there with the tour, they were out of all the decent flavors of moonshine already, so that wasn't great either.) Sorry we weren't cool cute boys likely to give big tips to your hotness: yes, your tip went the other direction due to your service.

Stopped by today. This is a fantastic brunch spot in old city. They had a buffet and bottomless drinks. Unlimited Mimosas, bloody Mary’s and Bellinis for only $20

This place has games! Play Connect 4 or Jenga while you wait for your food. And if you are 21 or older enjoy the drinks. I was there for the brunch and had the Beermosa (OMG life changer if you use the Golden Monkey beer, you must try this unless you want your life to never get better). The only problem I ran into was the wait time for an order of an omelet, and 2 orders of chicken and waffles. It seemed like they had to wait for the chicken to lay the eggs and then used that same chicken for the chicken waffles. But that was where those lovely games come in handy. It is a family restuarant, however when the bottomless Mimosas are in, be prepared to see more of the 21-35 age group. Enjoy! (Change your life and get the Beermosa with the Golden Monkey!)

Waited over an hour after ordering our food and it never ended up coming, waitress only came to check on us once during this time, and finally when we decided to leave we were completely ignored after asking for a check to pay for what few drinks we actually got. It's worth mentioning that throughout all of this time about half of their seats were open so it's not even as if it was that busy.

We went on the day of Bar Crawl Nation and honestly this place had the best atmosphere of all the bars. It was lively but in a good way and everyone had a good time. They have a wide selection of drinks and games for the tables to play at while they drink and eat. There was a group having a bachelor party dressed in different video game character costumes. It was an awesome time.

Asked if we could substitute an item. Charged us for the substitution without telling us (until we got the bill. $3 for Brussel Sprouts). $20 drinks, but they did not specify you can only get one chioce of alcohol (said it was up to the bartender's discretion), it had the word "and" on the menu, not "or". Waitress also did not introduce herself. Will never go back.

Different kinds of drinks. They're a little strong so be prepared. Really high proof shots so if you like getting drunk come here for sure. The drinks aren't consistent. One time I went here, the drink tasted awful. Can't remmeber what drink it was but it was on a cocktails menu. Other times they have been good. Could have been a bad bar tender. She wasn't very friendly.

We love JJ Bootleggers. The atmosphere is fun and service is great! The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Go see Nicole at the bar and try the moonshine specialty cocktails- they are awesome! Would highly recommend Bootleggers for group events, dinner, or even just a night out.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The manager dumped a drink down my leg and walked away. After saying something to the two bartenders She came and was very rude to me for no reason. She removed me from the bar for saying something about her spilling a drink down my $60 boots. This place is terrible.

Going to this bar was a bit of a last resort. We went in and found a table and sat down. It was a really busy Saturday night so I was happy to find a table. After about 7 minutes of waiting and checking on the menu, I believe a head waiter came by and asked if we were being helped. We told him no and he went to go get a server for us. 10 minutes passed and nobody came. We then went to a bar and got 2 Moonshine Mojitos which were good. Afterwards we sat at a different table and a server came to us and took care of us. The service was overall ok but it was a packed night so I understand they had a lot going on. After we got a server to help us, the rest of the night went ok. AMBIANCE: The theme of the bar is pretty cool, moonshine themed. I liked that they had an extensive drink menu featuring moonshine in all the drinks. I also like the different games they had available at certain tables. That was a fun thing to add to the bar. The DJ was playing decent music for me. He was playing to the crowd but it really wasn’t my kind of crowd to begin with. FOOD: I had the sweet BBQ wings (I forgot the actual name) but they were ok. The meat wasn’t really seasoned , it was just plain wings tossed in a sauce. The sauce was good but I wish the chicken itself was seasoned too. DRINKS: The Moomshine Mojitos were ok. I had 2 total, I would like to try their other drinks.

This place is a very grown and sexy upscale bowling alley. The drinks were just ok. There were more with gin in it which is not my thing. The music sucked. It was more 60s/70s style music. It was a Saturday night so I was expecting a little better. This spot is good for a professional event or date night. Valet parking is a plus.

QUICK READ: Dont order from here because they take too long, its too expensive for their basic ingredients, they didnt send me my full order and told me there was nothing they could do when i didnt get it. If I could give them no stars I would. After spending 40$ on 3 items, my order was an hour late. My food was cold and I recieved half of my order. My last review stated this. After calling back and they promised to send me my wings, they never got here. I called this morning asking if they could send my wings and the server told me there was nothing they could do. I paid with my card AND paid them on time, why can't I get my wings ON TIME? I'm apalled by the nonchalant customer service I recieved. I want a refund!

Hadn't been in since last year during football season. Even though my experience last time wasn't bad this was much better. Food was really good I had the wings and the shrimp tacos. The bartender named Eric was very friendly and made sure I was good with food and drink even though he had to serve some tables as well. Definitely will be returning.

We found ourselves surrounded by great staff and a fun croud. Bumped into the owner and his wife who were warm, sociable and just gave off the best vibe! Definitely will return!! Went in because we've heard some good things about JJ. The bottomless was good but not really strong drinks and I do brunch very regularly. We waited 40 minutes for the food (literally omelettes and benedict all 3 of us) . It wasn't busy at all, one other table beside us. I don't mind waiting for food when it's busy because I understand how crazy a kitchen can get but this made no sense. Service was very sub par, no one asked how the food was. The potatoes were rock hard and dry, the benedict was tasteless and the omelette was cold. We had to go to a different waiter for our check. Maybe every one on the staff was having a bad day. Still wouldn't recommend.

I went to JJ Bootleggers for the first time last night and it was busy so I sat at the bar. I don't usually post reviews but my bartender Eric went above and beyond. Even though he had a lot of customers he still managed to be very attentive and nice. I have never tried moonshine drinks before so he went through a list of options and made several different moonshine drinks so I could try different ones. They were all amazing. I was very impressed with the service and the drinks and will def. be going back.

Food is way better than you'd think. I consider it more of a nicer dive bar. Only thing that I really wish is that they turn down the volume by more than a couple notches. When music / games were playing, it was too loud even for me, who goes to clubs and concerts often. And taking a group there means we're going to have to shout all night to have a conversation. Then when karaoke happens, it's like loud x1000 considering more shwasted people screaming into a microphone. I hate giving bad reviews but I'm always willing to change my rating if I see a change in the future, which I hope it does!

Went here for lunch one day since I was always passing by on my way to work. The lightning lunch special has a decent selection of things that you can get for the $9. Each thing comes with fries and a drink. Server recommended the chicken tacos and I was very impressed with the quality of the food used. Everything tasted fresh and the Chipotle mayo was really good! Definitely recommend coming here if you have a half hour or so for lunch!

May 4th around 8:00 my friend and I walked up to the end of the bar to order a drink. It was really crowed so we waited patiently for the bartender to serve the people before us. My friend flagged a short women bartender with a black ponytail to inform her we were waiting to order a drink when she was finished. While waiting we noticed she was serving people who just walked up to the bar after us. We still gave her benefit to get around to us. A group of girls walked up behind us and the bartender literally looked at me 1st and then look passed me to serve the women behind us. At this point we were not happy and noticed she was serving all the people who looked like her. We told the bartender with black hair in a ponytail in a polite way..hey we were here before them....with no emotion she didnt even acknowledge us or the situation. After that we still waited and we seen a guy walk up to the bar and she walked right over to him and took his order. I've never experienced a bartender who was so ignorant in my life!!. Rude! and we felt unwelcomed...My assumption from that made me believe she was biased. Please go over the proper protocol of being a bartender with her. Hopefully you can view the tape to see exactly which bartender it was. I will not be coming back nor will I recommend anyone here because of her.

Decent food, ok service, fun place, but they ended up playing the same 6 songs over and I felt like it was very touristy. Good drinks though.

No one assisted us after walking in even after I had to ask the guy for a menu. About 10 people there already. Husband had to get a waitress 20 minutes after looking at the menu. Need more varieties of food.

What a great place! It was our 16th anniversary and we were fortunate enough to be introduced to JJ Bootleggers from our Grim Philly haunted pub crawl tour guide. The atmosphere is fantastic. Great fun vibe with all ages here. We enjoyed great moonshine cocktails and had delicious food too. Try the cheese steak egg rolls--they are phonomenal-and try the moonshine wings. These are the best wings we've ever had and quite honestly if we lived closer I would go back often. There were also games and karaoke with a great sound system. The staff is very attentive and so friendly. I think we've discovered pur new hangout when we get into town. Please visit, eat and drink-you will not be disappointed.

The service was incredibly slow and my entire party waited nearly nearly an hour to be served salads and burgers. When the food finally arrived one of the orders was incorrect and the fries we received were cold. Overall this was an awful experience and a waste of everyone’s time. I am never going there again!

Can in for a drink n got the chicken buffalo egg roll omg its soooooo good wow had the owner serve us he was very nice n pleasant. Food was super fresh I would totally come back here when I visit philly.

I don't know why they're not more busy for lunch. They offer a $9 lunch special that includes soda and choice of a few different entrees. The portions are smaller but still very worth the price, and the quality is high. I especially like the fried chicken sandwich, which is breaded and fried in house, not frozen. The fondue-style sauce on the cheesesteaks is also delicious. Not trying to compete with the sandwich places on the next block for authenticity, they are their own thing.

I waited 45 minutes trying to get a drink during a pub crawl (Tacos and Margs), until my group and I decided to give up and try another bar. This place was grossly understaffed for a bar that signed up for a pub crawl.

Went here after the philly serial killer tour and absolutely loved it. Fun with great cocktails and a cool bootlegger theme. Games like big blocked jenga around. Glad I was there in the afternoon though because me tipsy with jenga would have been a show for everyone!

Really fun place. Many moonshine themed drinks and shots. Really good dance music. The atmosphere is great and it has plenty of space for dancing, talking or sitting. The bartenders were fast and efficient but not too talkative. I would definitely come back and check out other theme nights and specials.
