Make sure to call ahead to make a reservation for the whiskey library. The green room is the small cocktail bar you can enjoy while waiting to get in. Once inside I was in complete awe with the sheer amount of whiskey on the shelf. Definitely recommend for any whiskey aficionados. Not only is the selection superb, the staff is extremely knowledgeable of every little detail. One of the best whiskey bars I have ever been to

Great vibe and the best selection of whiskey in town for sure. Every city needs a spot like this. They do lie about a 2 hour wait though if you’re not a member. I get it they want to sell memberships. They will call you in about 30 minutes or less with seating though. It’s happened to me every time.

I've had ranging from $8 to $50 depending on the variety. The menu is extensive with great selections from all over the world.

After a good 7 hour wait, we finally got a table at 11pm and it was totally worth it. It's an exclusive room with limited seating but unlimited collection of whiskey. The bartender was very helpful in helping find my new favorite whiskey and was also helpful in recommending what to try for newbies whiskey tasters in our group.

Plenty of reading occured while we were here. The whiskey book they have is ginormous and had many whiskeys that I did not know my favorite distillery even had. It is nice to be able to order smaller samples so you can still taste your way through a variety.

Outstanding.........This place is totally worth checking out at least once. The amount of whiskey is a little over whelming but the servers are amazing and really know their stuff. They are very accommodating. It is very pricey but the server was very good about working with in our price rang. They bring you water and explain how things work, then your bartender comes and gets your order. The bartender comes back with a cart filled with the ingredients for the drinks you ordered. Drinks are made table side which I loved. The atmosphere really makes the experience. It was worth every penny, one of my favorite stops on our vacation to Portland.

This place was cool. The feeling you get when out go in is that it is very exclusive. You get your own personal bartender who will ask you questions about what you like and will find the right whiskey or cocktail for you. I really enjoyed the experience and got to try some whiskey that I had not tried before. Our bartender was really nice and helped us make up our minds from a list 1600 bottles of whiskey.

Terrible customer service. The host was condescending and unhelpful. We were two parties that knew each other but because we KNEW the other group they refused to seat us separately and she just kept talking in circles. We found someplace else less pretentious and rude.

Prepare to wait at least a couple hours till you get seated in the library. Once in, service is exceptional. If you don't know what kind of whiskey you want, they will definitely plan it for you. My group got flights which can be 2-5 whiskeys at 60% the price of a full glass. Definitely a good experience everyone should try once.

Okay, there are some things to understand before you come here: (1) if you’re not a member, expect to wait for a table, especially if you arrive later; (2) you cannot camp for more than one-and-a-half or two hours, or you will be asked to move on; and (3) this is a place to sip and talk, not to party or throw ‘em back. If you understand those things, you’ll love the Multnomah Whiskey Library. Simple as that. The service is superb. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, while also possessing an air of exclusivity. My dad flew in from Texas for father's day- he's a huge whiskey guy, so I wanted to bring him here. I guess I should have read the reviews- the atmosphere is great, the cheese/meat board was lovely, but I was pretty upset that they kicked us out after 2 hours- specifically because you have to pay $25/person just to get a reservation if you aren't a member. I paid $100 just to get my party in the door -made a reservation online and spoke with someone on the phone twice and at no point was I told we would be asked to leave after 2 hours. I can guarantee he would have spent more money that whoever came in after him. It was just really disappointing. If I was aware of that policy we might have timed our drinks better to try more things on the menu.

Wow! This was one of the coolest lounges I've ever been to. I walked by shortly before they opened and saw a line forming so I hopped in. Luckily, I got there early enough to get a table. I highly recommend making a reservation! The plethora of bottles along the wall, library style sliding ladder, hidden kitchen door in the wall, and dim lighting give the room a very fancy ambiance. It's refreshing to get away from your typical bar environment and browse their extensive menu in a more formal and relaxing environment. The most pleasant surprise was ordering drinks from our table and the bartender arrived with a portable bar to make our cocktails table side!

Wow... what a place. My wife and I were looking for a nice relaxing place to finish our first night in Portland. I found this place on Google when searching Hong for speakeasies. It isn't a speakeasy, but it is a wonderful place to go for a premium nightcap. We did used our our preferences with Ian the master bartender that we had the fortune of serving us. He intently listened to what our preferences were and then made recommendations based on our likes. He made my wife a Weller Old Fashioned - the aroma was awesome and the taste incredible. He gave me a Michtwr's 10 yrs single barrel that spun my head - just wonderful. If you have the time and $, I highly recommend stopping in for a drink of your choice. Exquisite!

An atmosphere that harkens back to the speakeasy s of prohibition team, but far classier. They have nearly every kind of spirit youd ever want, and then some. The staff are very helpful in getting you the right food and drink when you become overwhelmed at all the choices. Be prepared to arrive an hour or so before youd like to be seated to put your name down on the wait list. Luckily, theyll call you when it's your turn. In the meantime, a block south is another bar that's not bad at all to wait at.

This location does not have a private parking lot. You need to find street parking or Uber your way to this location. My party had to wait in the green room before they made space for us. The green room was nice and a good intro to seeing the Whiskey Library. There place has the widest selection of Whiskey that I have ever seen. Every party has their own bartender. The bartenders wheel around a cart and create your drinks in front of you. I would like to come back to this place. Very chill.

Worth the wait if you can wait. We lucked out and got the private tasting room. Not cheap but actually not crazy, unless you wanna get nuts in which case they can also help you. Obviously huge drink selection, knock yourself out. Decent cocktails but also some insane private reserve bottles. Totally worth the visit for a special occasion....like a Friday.

Great service, and good whiskey! My friends and I came here while in town for a teachers conference. Even though there wasn't an official whiskey "flight" downstairs (upstairs there was an hour long wait), our server accommodated for us by giving us half pours of local Northwest whiskeys. She even steered us more towards a less expensive option when we explained what we wanted. Excellent attentive service, and great whiskey. What more could you ask?

Visiting Portland and a friend recommended this place. Loved the atmosphere and the assortment was amazing. Disappointed in the service though. Asked if they had a tasting flight and the server basically scoffed at us. We were dressed casually but if they prefer people to be dressed a certain way, they should say so. We were even prepared to continue sipping but our server recommended a cheaper dive bar for us to check out lol. Wish our server had been more welcoming and generous with all this knowledge they're supposed to have.

Great whiskey bar with extensive whiskey library. Pay $25 per person for reservations, or you'll have to waitlist in person and wait 2-3 hours. The whiskey was overpriced compared to other places! You can get the same whiskey at other libraries for cheaper, but this place is cool and has a larger library than most!

Although we had to wait an hour on a Wednesday night to get in, we loved this place! It had such an exclusive feel and it was a truly unique experience thanks to the unbelievable selection and excellent, knowledgeable servers. We just had drinks and desserts, but we would like to come back and try the food! The only thing that’s difficult is that you can’t reserve a table if you’re not a member, but we’re not local, so it doesn’t make sense to become a member. We also didn’t love that after waiting for an hour, we were seated with strangers.

Okay, this is probably one of the coolest locations I've been to in Portland. I'm actually glad it's not closer to home as this would become a second home. Very skilled bartenders who know their craft and have great insights into what they're serving. Be prepared to wait or try to get reservations as it can be tough to get in.

Overall: Cool spot for a first date or catching up with a friend or two. Wouldn't recommend it for large groups. It's a bit on the expensive side so keep that in mind! Location: The location. Is very unassuming - I was pleasantly surprised when we interned the library. The bar-side wall is covered with spirits from wall to floor. The seating is a mix of couches and tables, but they are good about limiting people to avoid it being too crowded. Service: The bartender was our personal server. Her was helpful explaining the menu to non-whiskey snobs. He helped make suggestions for both of us and prepared the drinks right next to where we were seated. Drinks: my friend ordered the private label Makers mark and I ordered a scotch. Both drinks were great - glasses were chilled and the big ice cubes were crystal clear (that's super hard to do!)

Too crowded to go up to the main library, we had cocktails in the lower area. The cocktails were good, but the noise, the prices (even mediocre whiskey was 2x more than other decent places), and the slight air of condescension (from both staff and guests) will prevent my return. Did I mention the noise?

Meat and cheese board seems to change, but is still incredible every time. Service is exceptional, as one would hope. Oddly enough, the private select old fashioned and the half and half sazerac are not delish. Still good, but actually and surprisingly, not great. Still, 5 stars, great snacks, best selection of whisky. Good place. Solid and persistent experience. Oh, try to avoid some of the guys that like to talk loudly about the radio stations they own, the businesses they are gutting, or the women they are using... Kinda puts a damper on the evening. Totally not the fault of the establishment, unfortunately high end drinks sometimes drives in the lower class that think they are upper class ;)

Paying the $25 per person reservation fee to get the date and time you want was totally worth it for a special occasion. Was able to choose if we wanted to sit at a couch/chair or a table. There is a 2 hour window that you're allowed to stay, but we were able to take our time since there wasn't a reservation after us. The server and bartender (Jared) assigned to us was really kind, knowledgeable and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious and not as expensive as I anticipated. Highly recommend for a fancy night out in Portland!

Interesting place. There was construction outside when I visited so be on the lookout as it was hard to find from the road. I'm from out of town and went with my wife who is more of a whiskey buff, and she really enjoyed it. We weren't able to get up to the library but we had drinks downstairs in the Green Room which was pleasant overall. The bartender was really nice, more than willing to answer questions though it was a little confusing if we should have been ordering and paying at the bar or expecting table service. A couple of the staff we interacted with had a bit of an attitude but I guess that just comes with the territory of an upscale place. It wouldn't hurt to be a little more welcoming to guests though but I guess it's not like you can get some of these whiskeys anywhere else!

What a delightful little spot! We did wait an age to get in, but we are the sort of riff raff that has no membership-- we live across the river for god's sake! Kidding aside, you can expect to wait hours to get in, so have dinner plans nearby and come back when called. We ended up over at Tasty & Alder (see my updated review!) and came back when it was nearly our turn. I enjoyed the friendly staff who put up with my ribbing about pronunciation and terrible jokes, they also went to extra lengths to pull out a bottle of bourbon (I know) that is one of my favorites so I could share it with a friend who had never tasted it. They had a lovely selection of weird stuff, but less of the exotic blends and partnerships than I would have expected. Maybe those are for members only. I did see a members' room that looked like they offered lockers for storage- I'll have to investigate that some more-- we like to bring back bottles not distributed to the states from our travels and would love a nice place to store them. The chocolate cake is delightful- we had dinner elsewhere and so weren't altogether hungry, but if I'm up to the task of drinking delicious whiskey- it can't be without food! The chocolate cake was suggested by our server- and it paired nicely with the Kavalan I was drinking. All in all, a lovely experience. We will be back!

Get to the Multnomah Whiskey Library early and you should be able to get in within a half hour. They open at 4:00 so 3:45 is good unless you want to pay $25 per person for the pass. This is recommended if you are pressed for time or just cannot wait to see the amazing venue. Start with a table in the Green Room for pre-snack waiting and hydration. This was a great time to be inside considering the weather and allowed preparation or our cozy upstairs library spot. Each table and chairs or luxurious upholstered couches around large coffee tables lend perfectly to the atmosphere. The library boasts over 1500 different bottles to choose from in beautiful display. Tables are yours for a specific time and staff is sure everyone is having a delightful time. Enjoy!!

Go. Go to this place now, and enjoy it! Be ready for a wait if they’re busy, but it’s totally worth it. I’d recommend six stars, but they only split checks up to 3 ways, so if you have 4+ people in your group, it’s extra work to get separate checks.

Jordan gave us a great flight of curated whiskeys and amazing service. We really enjoyed hearing the stories behind all of them. Would definitely recommend, be aware that there was a 1 hour wait at 6pm on a Saturday night (well worth it) but we were able to wait in the Green Room and enjoyed some fabulous cocktails while we waited.

It takes so long to get in but it's so worth it. The staff knows anything and everything you could possibly want to know about whiskey. If you come with a bigger group of people 6+ it's going to take close to 2 hours to get seated. But they have a bar downstairs called the Green room that has delicious cocktails and snacks. If you are meeting with friends and have the time, I highly suggest it!

Simply the largest selection of liquor I've ever seen. There's an element of exclusivity, as only members are guaranteed a seat, everyone else has to just wait for an opening and your visits are time-limited (generously, though). The staff know their products and can easily guide you to good choices depending upon your tastes. They also have a small but upscale menu of delicious food to complement your drinks. Absolutely worth a visit, I will be going back.
