Positively incredible. My waitress was terribly rude but the food and atmosphere well made up for her behavior.

Joshua Nocktonick

Wanna take that vegan hottie from tinder out, but need somewhere more upscale than a food cart? Look no further. Absolutely fantastic food, service and location. Beautiful views no matter where you're sitting. Great place for non vegans as well. Excellent for special occasions. Reservations are a must. Arrive early and wait at the fully equipped bar, stay late and visit the rooftop for a cocktail.

Cherry Madole

Amazing. Jennifer and the entire staff took excellent care of us. Many thanks for a delicious, fun meal.

Sasha Brown

Hallelujah to the chef. Delicious.

Don Spear

Excellent menu variety and food quality. Superlative service and atmosphere.

David Gerritsen

The food here was spectacular. I don't really go to high-end restaurants often, but this one is operating at a completely different level compared to the few I've tried. The pork buns, chicken wings, and carrots were standouts. But really everything I tasted (of about 12 dishes) was surprising and delicious.

Angela Church

Unique, explosive flavors. Try the chef's selection dinner course - does not disappoint. Attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff. Beautiful views.

Ghassan Abuelian

Crystal and chef Gregory are the stars of this amazing restaurant. Nestled atop Nines hotel, offers great views. Food is absolutely delicious by Top Chef winner chef Gregory. Crystal sang his praises and described him as down to earth despite his great fame. However, for us Crystal was the star of the evening. Thank you Crystal. Thank you chef Gregory.

Wendi Barnard

This place is amazing. I love the rooftop so much and the weather was perfect. I was in Portland for an awesome b-day party and we took a party bus to super cool venues in Portland. I only had a drink while I was here, but the food looked great. I hope to come back here for the food and to enjoy the view again.

Allie Root

Best sushi! So good!

evan feliciano

Food was very experimental but surprisingly tasty. Great beer, great atmosphere, and great food. Would definitely eat here again!

Scott Haslinger

Sat outside on the west side, it was way too hot, not enough shade

JinJoo Lee

I really wanted to like this place because of the cool location, good view and friendly server but.. my husband and I did the Imperial Tasting Menu with wine pairing and I just cannot get over how salty everything was. 7 out of 9 dishes were so salty my tongue was just feeling raw at the end. Wine was not paired well either. So disappointing.. dishes were so salty that wines just tasted all bland when eaten together.

d bart

Food and wine were both excellent, as was the device. Great fusion restaurant with views of the city and mountains Tasting menu was rather large for 2 people but worth the money.

Eric Woelker

A really great stop in Portland. Entirely dairy-free all the time, they also cater widely to gluten-free and other allegies quite well. We went in for Portland Dining month this weekend and while the food was good, the food service (not table service) was awful. There were four of us and we mostly did the dining month deal and a couple of sushi rolls. The table next to us had three people, were sat after us but about 10 minutes, and got their food (pretty much the same as ours) much, much faster. They were in and out in under an hour, meanwhile 1.5 hours in we had only received our beer salad. It was bad food management. Anyways, I would still go back, but maybe when it was less busy? (Which is rare, so who knows...

Mike Baker

Neat place to have drinks.. very cool modern vibe and view of the city.

M Lavier

Great views, great food, and great brews. Bring your friends, because the service is customer focused.

Alex Nguyen

One of my favorite Asian “fusion” places. My favorite is the fried rice choices they have and their famous departure wings. Their pork belly and other dim sum items are great as well. Great place for date night!

Rick Edwards

Amazing views from the 15th floor of The Nines hotel. Excellent sushi, bibimbap cooked tableside, steamed Korean short rib buns, all very nice. And an Asian old fashioned. Overall an impressive evening, watching the city lights come on while dining.

katie zaytseva

Good food, friendly staff Chocolate ice cream desert wonderful

George McCall

I'd go again. Food was amazing. View from rooftop bar was mediocre.

Dillon Gasper

One of the highlights experiences in downtown Portland. The service was outstanding! Reservations are highly recommended as this place is very popular, especially during decent weather. The happy hour has some very affordable options. It is very classy place and would highly recommend it!

sagar gohil

This place has the best location overlooking downtown and the waterfront. The ambience itself earns a 5 star. The outdoor is very clean and well done. Be mindful that their parking is expensive so you can walk a little if you want a cheaper parking. The food we ordered was very very well seasoned and had a very gourmet taste to it. Also be mindful that the place gets packed very soon around an hour or so post opening at 4.

Brett Stomps

Great view, and the prices for drinks are a bit steep. But you're paying for the view really, which I won't complain. It's really nice. Other than that, the place feels a bit generic and I get the vibe it's a bit overrated now for locals. With that said, I keep going back, because, "Why not?"

Allison

Departure has one of the best patios in downtown. Located on the 15th floor it has amazing views of the skyline, and it also peers over Pioneer Square. Drinks are a little pricey though.

Corey Cook

Fantastic cuisine!! Get the berries and cream. Probably one of the best deserts I save ever experienced!!! A wonderful place!!!

Damon Jordan

Such an awesome place on a nice night.

Brynne Mota

Great customer service and atmosphere! And their pineapple upside down cake is amazing.

Jerrad Ely

This was a must-go destination for us on our trip to Portland and we were not disappointed. Great staff and even better food! We were impressed by the front end asking about any food allergies at check in. Very thoughtful and appreciated!

Tim Kukulka

Awesome place to visit with friends even when arriving into Portland or leaving. My second visit there I was lucky to pass the entire basketball team from Portland (NBA). Unique dishes and consistent service.

JorAlor8

The pork was delicious! Succulent flavor. And the view off the balcony is beautiful while the weather is warm and clear

Miki Demeter

Wonderful restaurant with vegan and regular menus and many things I can make vegan for you. Everything is served elegantly. Service is phenomenal.

lana reichert

Food is quite delicious, pork belly, edamame, scallops, and octopus among my favs. They have removed the Steamed Buns: we all need to demand they be returned to the menu and served with a side of the pork belly sauce (they will make many $$$'s and we will all be extremely happy). And they offer a Pineapple Upside Down Cake (not my usual choice), but the rum raisin ice cream is fabulous and addictive. I have also suggested that they never remove that ice cream from their offerings - please join me.

Paul Song

This spot is a must see if you want to check out the nightlife in Portland. You can just come here for drinks and when the rooftop patio opens up the view is amazing. The summer nights here is always a great time! Their speciality cocktails are also pretty good. They have non-alcoholic options too!

Kennett Kwok

First time here. Great food, super friendly staff. Thanks for a good time!

Annabella Oliver

The view from this restaurant is incredible. In addition, the food is unique and well-presented. The menu airs on the side of being slightly spicy, but even then, the flavors in all the dishes are appreciable. My server was very attentive and helpful in choosing menu items, and I would definitely eat here again.

Robyn Nash

This place will always be a favorite! The stunning roof top experience gives it a swanky and stylish feel - perfect for a night out, especially on a warm summer night. Drinks are delicious, but a bit pricey - to be expected given the level of luxury this place has. Definitely a must-do if you're exploring the city life and want a taste of fabulous.

FatherFannie B

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a beautiful anniversary dinner here and it was perfect. The view from our table during sunset was so jaw dropping all while sharing multiple delicious vegetarian dishes together. It was so memorable and wonderful. I cant wait to come back and try more of that bombastic menu!

Chad Washington

This is absolutely great and food was so good. This place is amazing. I love the rooftop so much and the weather was perfect. I was in Portland for an awesome celebration and we took a party bus to super cool venues in Portland. I love this place the food was absolutely delicious.

BINYAM TEKLAY ABRAHA

Nice view great service I returned after two Years still provide Good food and all perfect

Management needs better policy or training of staff around handling customers with food allergies. My niece had a really bad reaction to a dessert in their price fix menu because the wait staff did not or could not inform of us ingredients in any of the dishes. They actually served many dishes that had cashews that we could identify, but the dessert had it buried within the pineapple cake. My niece immediately felt sick so we had to confront the staff to double check the ingredients, in which we finally were told that the dish did indeed have cashews. An hour later, my niece threw up multiple times and an epi pen had to be administered as well as a trip to the ER. I would suggest if you have any food allergies or have children with them to avoid eating here until they are able to tell you the ingredients of the food that is prepared for you. I understand if you cannot guarantee trace elements or cross contamination, but if you are putting raw cashews and serving it to customers with cashew allergies in which we told up front that we had, then you are endangering your customers lives.

Nathan Preston

Place was dirty, wait staff was impersonal, atmosphere was gaudy and the food was mediocre. Not worth the money for the experience. Would not go again or recommend to anyone.

Maritza Replogle

One of the best restaurants in the nation! I highly recommend their special cocktails

Cardonuts Wendy

Probably one of the better places to people watch in P town. Food is about average to good and people seem a little engaging here. Basically, if you're looking for a casual conversation this might be a great spot to check out. Their rooftop bar is nice as well.

Joshua Oxendine

Best rooftop dining in portland. If available ask for Mark, great service and experience.

David Benson

Excellent vegan options, great view, high class experience. Very helpful waiters/waitress'

pam Nelsen

Jason was a wonderful part of the experience! Chef John smoked octopus, FABULOUS. COSMOS were da bomb. ..loved it, highly reccomend it when in the NW

Wendy Mitchell

My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and he mentioned that when he made to he reservation. Every member of the staff we encountered offered us congratulations. It was a Thursday night and the place was completely packed. Every aspect of our meal was filled with the pomp and circumstance one would expect from fine dining, though the wait staff was quite personable and not stuffy. They were offering a Peking duck experience and we opted for that and a couple of house drinks. Everything was exquisite. No joke, somehow, even the water was amazing. We liked it enough that we plan to go again soon. Oh, and the view were a nice addition to the dining experience. The pic was taken from the lovely bar terrace.

Dan Gaffey

Food is amazing. Staff is very professional and knowledgeable. Reservations a must.

Patrick Madden

Unreal atmosphere - almost futuristic. Coming from a city with lots of rooftop bars this one was up there! The sushi fusion style food will have you craving for more. 15th floor patios with views of DT Portland. Excellent date spot, or a great place for drinks. I’ll be back

Nic Wilson

Atmosphere is great but the food didnt taste as great as my favorite local Thai places

Cam Morris

The rooftop bar is a great spot to relax, it has a nice view and plenty of lighting at sunset to keep hanging out into the night. I was the with a large group, and while the seating was a bit limited, we had no problems rotating around.

Mari Keuter

Great food, friendly service, ambiance is nice and good views. A little pricey, but worth it. Good happy hour and ample seating.

Tom Feller

The food was outstanding. The staff very good. But the place is looking a bit dated.

Sara Hohman

Asian fusion, definitely not Asian. I love how the head chef here is constantly trying new things out with the menu. There is some really neat and delicious alchemy going on here! There are a lot of yuppies frequently there, yet it still manages to hold a laid back vibe. Also, the views are really lovely on the patio.

Hansen Chu

Food and drink was good. Giving this place only 3 stars because of the poor and slow service. (Would have given 4 - 4.5 as the food and drinks were good) Server had a tone of arrogance as we had to follow up with items several times.

Paul Earhart

Iconic views from this downtown rooftop bar. Pioneer Square is Portland's living room and Departure is Portland's party room. Bachelorettes, birthday girls, young hipsters. Everyone wants a picture so be a sport and someone will dp the favor back. Spendy but worth it.

TheRushinConcussion

The view is good. Minus one star for overpriced drinks.

S. Anderson

The place to take your out of town guests. This place is a definitely been a favorite of mine over the years. The view is amazing, both day and night. Weather permitting of course. The patio is wonderful with the heaters to keep guests warm, and again the view! The drinks and food are both great. The interior dinning room is fresh with a minimalist aesthetic and lots of glass that leads back to the view.

Julia Ember

Sadly an example of a restaurant that did not live up to the hype. While the views were beautiful, the food was inconsistent. Some of the dishes like the short rib buns were delicious, but others like the scallops were barely edible. Many were very average. The service was also strangely inconsistent. We felt both rushed and forgotten -- our waiter would forget about our table for long periods of time, even when we were waiting to order another drink or dish and actively looking for him, and then forgot a dish and presented us with the bill without ever offering us the desert menu. Overall, not awful, but we probably won't be back.

Nick Huddleston

The steamed pork buns were great. Get the Bibimbap! They mix the ingredients together at the table, which is a really nice touch. Friendly and attentive staff as well.

laura mathis

Very beautiful, upscale, modern, I felt very "high class" while dining here.. rooftop views famous for selfies. Gorgeous location. And the staff- every staff member that we encountered was absolutely charming respectful, knowledgeable and on the ball.. Would definitely return..

Ryan Richardson

Had a great Experience, the imperial tasting menu is worth the price of admission. Our waiter Austin made my wife and I feel very special on our Wedding Anniversary. I will be coming back again . Spectacular view on the Patio ! Thank you to the whole Staff. Austin you keep doing what you do . Your first class.

Heather Auld

Came here for dinner with a friend visiting from out of town. We both loved it and agreed it was our best dining experience over her 9 day trip. Our server (I don't remember his name) was great. He was friendly, quick, made fabulous recommendations. We ordered 4 dishes to off the vegan menu to share and cocktails - all of which tasted great. When the bill came at the end we were pleasantly surprised at the total. Excited to go back!

Brian K

Great views, decent service. Happy hour food and value ok. Many better venues for food in the area.

Daniel Artzer

Super views of Portland at night. Was visiting from out of town and heard good things about the rooftop bar and it did not disappoint. Lots of people around and was a pretty great atmosphere. Reasonable drink prices to boot! Best of all it provided great views of the city at night and we had a blast hanging out outside in the summer chatting with friends. Definitely recommend stopping in for a drink.

Sam Seto

Food was excellent and the service was superb. Great food suggestions from our server!

Lolo Duni

Too pricey, which is understandable considering how popular they are but the food, even though the presentation was very nice and artsy but wasn't anything special.

Kevin Woods

This restaurant is on the top floor (15th floor) of the Nines Hotel. The Nines hotel and this restaurant are amazing. It is a bit more pricey than what I usually go to but it is worth it. This location is in the middle of downtown so you have to find street parking or garage parking. It was fairly easy for me to find both. The atmosphere, mood, lighting here is amazing. This place attracts some very trendy people. I heard the happy hour here is one of the best in the city. The drinks are good and the food is better. You must come here.

Alex Harding

Amazing food and service. The views are incredible.

Dave Rian

We went here for an anniversary expecting a "fine dining" experience. I left wishing we'd gone elsewhere. However, since then, I have been dreaming of going back for their bibimbap, so I'm giving them 2-stars instead of 1. Problems we experienced: -- No clear signage on how to get to the restaurant from the street. -- No view. Maybe some parts of the restaurant have one, but we didn't see any windows anywhere. -- Tables are too close to each other and oversized the wrong way. You are way closer to the person at the table next to you than the person across the table from you. Makes conversing weird. -- A strong candle smell that detracts from the food/drinks. -- An very orange glow in the lighting makes the food look not very appealing. -- Wine glasses weren't refilled. That's part of what overpaying 4x for a bottle is supposed to cover. -- They have a special vegan menu -- if you ask. But the veganizing is always done via deletion, never substitution, not always successfully. -- Some dishes arrived missing components listed on the menu. -- Most dishes were too salty. -- They were out of a dessert sake that was on the menu, but the server wasn't aware of this when we were ordering it. -- They add in a "service fee" of 2.25%. Please, everyone, fight this by tipping 15.5% instead of 20%. Normally, many of the above would be forgivable, but Departure proclaims themselves as being elevated above their competition. They didn't live up to the hype.

James Stillo

Excellent food, pork belly is to die for the best I've had. Great view too.

Leativa Nicholas

Beautiful setting. First time at this place, meeting with friends. Nice view of downtown. However, their happy hour did not satisfy me. Food is good (especially the fried rice) but expensive and served in very small portions. Afterwards, my friends and I decided to eat at another location nearby to fill up.

jeff n.

Would recommend for the views alone. Good atmosphere on a weekday. Good whiskey selection. Trendy spot.

Isabella Guirado

I absolutely love this restaurant! The service, food, and view was amazing! My family went here for my sisters birthday and our waiter was so friendly and suggested foods for the vegans (including me) in our group. All the staff was so kind and even took photos for us. All the staff went out of their way to make sure everyone enjoyed their time. Everyone in our group loved their meals (even the picky eaters). The restaurant itself is really cool, its like a spaceship/cruise ship and weird fact: it has a unique bathroom. Highly recommend this place!

D A

There are so many things to commend this restaurant: vegan and gluten free options, great ambiance and view, good service. So why the two stars? Two of the three main dishes we ordered were so salty it was hard to enjoy the top notch ingredients in the dish. There's a pitcher of soy sauce on the table, far better to let diners add their own than overuse the soy sauce in the kitchen. The drinks were quite good, but the dessert was lacking--a peach ginger ice cream was flat, without strong flavors of either ginger or peach. Maybe we went on an off night, but I would not go back with all the other great dining options available in Portland.

Christian Swanson

The food was fantastic, the view was great, and the staff was outstanding (our waitress's name was Jessica). More specifically, the food was fun, creative, and beautifully presented without giving up any taste for novelty. I was particularly impressed with the care given to the side dishes, which we're every bit as interesting as the meat dishes. We also loved Jessica. She was absolutely charming in how she gave our 80-year-old mother personal attention and totally won her over. This will definitely be a new regular spot for us.

Guillaume Thibault

Really beautiful place. The rooftop is awesome but overcrowded. The food at the restaurant is really good and original. I also enjoyed the cocktails. Might be a little bit overpriced.

Matthew Wilson

Delicious Asian food, good cocktails, nice view, kind of a retrofuturistic vibe.

Ryan Paredez

I was in this hotel for a conference, heard they had a rooftop bar. For me it wasn't obvious you had to make a sharp left at the reception desk. Don't make that mistake. I didn't eat here, only had some beers and cocktails. The view from the outside is amazing. Would definitely come back here for the view.

Gavin Knight

Food was great! Happy hour was fun! Massive selection of Japanese whiskey and sake. Good bar. Must visit!

Jason Jangada

Nice view of the surrounding city. There's also a rooftop bar.

Keaton Coldren

The view is nice and the service was alright but with such high reviews, I expected more. Don't get me wrong the wings were delicious, but everything else we ordered was way too salty; I was pretty disappointed in the food.

Andrew McConnell

I don’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t this. Food and atmosphere were amazing, prices were fair, and it was a great experience overall. Highly recommended.

Jenny Xu

Came here with a friend for Portland Dining Month but we actually ended up not even eating from the Portland Dining Month menu because the stuff on their regular menu was just as good and just as reasonable priced. Food: I really liked the Crispy Pork Belly. That is a MUST if you come here. The textures and the flavors are just so great and so fresh that I couldn't have asked for a more great dining experience. I thought the scallops were just okay, they weren't amazing but they were still savory. They were a bit on the plain side. Finally, the Bibimbap was a huge portion size! Definitely would fill me and my friend up even by itself. Service: The server here was super super nice and checked in all the time to give us water. Ambiance: This is definitely a place you go to when you want to eat well, I think this would be a great date location with the really nice view off the 15th floor. Anyways, I wouldn't come again since this is more of a treat-yo-self place but it's a great dining experience!

Tyler Buchea

The restaurant is kind of cool I guess. But the rooftop bar at night is where it's at. I always take guests there for the beautiful view of the city and Pioneer Square. Bathrooms are a trip too.

Scott Meriwether

Great up and out of the way restaurant and bar. Top floor of a very nice, new and expensive hotel. Good views and food was fusion great news with focus on Asian origins. Little known secret bar area out past restaurant entrance. Walk down the hall, and there is a rooftop bar area. Wonderful. They close early though. No late nights in Portland!

Erik Kern

For was pretty good... Service was pretty good as well. However neither lives up to the price paid for the food.

L T

Super amazing and friendly service. The cocktails were a bit pricey but excellent. The pork belly is amazing!

Jaiden Camberg

The atmosphere here is amazing. The view is pretty great depending on where you're seated. The waiter I had was friendly and recommended some stuff for me to try and I was impressed.

Bence Pálos

Amazing views of downtown, maybe on the pricier side but fun times! 21+ after 9pm

Chris M

Great atmosphere. Views from rooftop were good. Food was excellent.

Mahesh Ramachandran

The ambience of the restaurant is good. The roof top has a good view of the downtown. They have Omaha steak which tastes really good. Roast chicken is also a must try.

Pranav Reddy

Food and Cocktails are outstanding. Don't forget to try the departure wings, it's beautifully presented without compromising in its taste. Very good service and awesome views from the top.

dylan paschall

This is a must, if you are in the downtown area. Best roof top patio in town, and some of the best Asian food around. Chef GiGi knows what he is doing and so does the service staff

Millie Wu

Came here a few days ago for a dinner with 3 other people. The decor and atmosphere of the place is very interesting! It's an Asian-fusion place (I always am skeptical when they say Asian fusion). The food was good but quite salty in general. Not sure if it's because the flavours are very powerful but it felt quite salty. We finished our appetizers and was waiting for our mains for a while so we decided to ask the server. We're pretty sure she forgot to put in the order although she told us that the kitchen was backed up. We had a various assortment of food - the bison curry, bibimbap, crab rice, most of the veggie appetizers, the vegetarian buns and it was GOOD but not amazing. I think it's worth a try to go to Departure to try it out since it's quite a hype in Portland from what I know. I think next time, I might skip the dinner and go to the bar to try out their many drinks.

Seiji Nanbu

Great spot for elevated vegetarian and vegan dishes. Be warned, a lot of it is Asian fusion food so don't expect anything other than that. It's also quite a hefty price tag for small portions, so order a lot of stuff to share. The dessert is the highlight for me here, so don't skip dessert and maybe get a cocktail or two as well.

R Bran

This is by far the best dining experience in Portland. By far. And it happened a to have a several gf options. After a great meal of highest cuisine, including dungeness rolls, were awesome. We were pleasantly delighted everything made from scratch including waffle cones. It has gone to top of our list as the best dining experience in Portland.

bryan richards

I'm gonna butcher the server's name, but Neah? Niah? Neea? made this place 5 stars. Not an insult, just a description - this place is kinda pretentious, except for the server that helped me =) It's the dining experience you expect, not really a Departure but it tries to be. Food-wise, it's what you see on the website and menu. I had the chicken (story below), the edamame, and the steak on the charcoal slab... Was part of the experience, ya know. But nothing super special or better tasting than other joints I've been to. If you've read my other reviews, you know most of them are based on how good an old fashioned is. Here it was ok. Again, nothin out of the ordinary, not the best and not the worst old fashioned for sure. So why 5? The server. She killed it! Attentive AF, super nice, friendly, and made sure my experience here was tiptop. She made sure I ordered the stuff that was right for me, she hooked me up with the chicken which I didn't expect (and was the best thing on the menu) and she went above and beyond when I asked for some further recommendations. Go for the service, the food is ok.

Ken C

Good music, surprisingly inexpensive beer, and a chill vibe, with one of the best views anywhere. What's not to love?!

Brian Y.

Sip a glass of wine at this trendy, upscale rooftop spot and enjoy the night lights of the city.

Kassi Foegelle

Austin was fantastic..... an amazing experience. Best place in Oregon. A must!!!!!

Ken Eucker

Every time I've had dinner here over the years I have been pleasantly satisfied with the drinks and especially the food. Ambience is nicer after the first drink and when the food shows up you get lost in the experience enough to not notice the other tables around you. Great date or celebration spot, be sure to finish your night with one last drink on the patio -- the view is wonderful.

Tony Hungate

Great classy restaurant with vegan menus. Spectacular views of the city and the mountains. Expect to pay about $30 a person. The dessert menu could use some additions, really tired of sorbet for vegans.

Levi Beavani

Amazing! Virginia was a great server. The vegan options are great and the wok fried brocoli? SO GOOD.

Joshua Akramoff

This place is incredible! The environment and view is top notch, the service is over the top, the bartenders know the menu in depth and the prices are VERY reasonable. This is a "Dairy-free" kitchen with plenty of vegan options and a diverse menu. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you visit Portland, Departure is a must. Great date spot.

Rebecca Kilbreath

Kinda absurdly fussy, but the scallops were 5 stars forever.

Evan Hayashi

Departure is an old staple of the PDX foodie scene. Great roof top bar and very posh restaurant. Food is Asian fusion with a splash of experimentation. This is a great place for a date or ladies night out. I was with my friend from out of town and this is her favorite place to go when she visits Portland. Make sure to check out the restrooms. It is like you stepped into a Star Wars flick. Oh, and bring a jacket... there isn't a dress code per se but my friend always says the ladies restroom can get pretty chilly.

Cheyenne C.

I would have put 5 stars on for a review as I have enjoyed being there. I found out that supposedly as we were celebrating an occasion, our party was supposedly being “rowdy” and it was taken to the higher up “manager” to deal with. If our party of 6 was being “rowdy” as I was told by someone, why didn’t this so called “higher up management” address the situation? That is what I find mind boggling! Seems like things are being made up and now my impression on this restaurant is left with a dirty review because of people working there that want to make up lies. We are of class and not people who doesn’t know how to act in restaurants. We were courteous, polite, and even stacked up the plates to make it easier for the guy to clean the tables. As a matter of fact, we were handing the dishes to him and he thanked us for helping and making his job easier! Y’all make it sound like we were jumping on tables and acting a fool! Shame on you!

Carmen

The most enjoyable meal I have had in any restaurant. The food was amazing and served family style, so everyone can share their picks from the extensive menu. Gluten-free menu was offered, to my delight, and made the whole evening easier. The staff was amazing and attentive. Their cocktails are superb. Very cool place to hangout and make great memories with friends.

Lauren S

The views are fantastic. The host staff could use some serious training on manners and how to properly seat people. Plenty of open tables and they squished of in to a super tight table the food and drinks are too pricey to be treated like trash in a not full restaurant.

Gerardo Cardenas

Amazing food! I also am very happy with the level of service that they provided. I was able to find a table quickly. ☺️

John Lambert

What a cool bar. Drinks a little pricey but worth it for such a cool place to hang out

Haleh Nekoorad Long

Beautiful views and delicious food. Fun drink specials! Cool bathrooms:)

Toni Hughes

Was excited for the experience and food, but left disappointed and frustrated. The view is fantastic, however the food I did get was good, but not anything special (broccoli) I ordered the skirt steak as well. Took almost 45 minutes for it to arrive and when it did it was not cooked like I asked. Was told they could make it right, but alas it again took so long I said no thanks. Again very disappointed. Other restaurants with roof top bars are a better option and have better food.

Tylar Wilson

WOW! What an experience! Great view, friendly staff, cool atmosphere, and the food was amazing. Everything we tried was delicious and top tier. Great place!

Mike Werner

Delicious pizza and beer, calm and warm atmosphere, friendly staff

linda andrews

Great options for those with dietary restrictions.

Dominic C

Fancy af. Very good food. Wagyu steak is fire. Environment was nice. Felt like I was flying first class.

Zemlet Trecenya

This isn't a sushi restaurant, despite the food photos shown. This is a great place to go if you want to escape the Portland vibe, and feel like you're somewhere upscale, like Vegas or LA. If you prefer straightforward/well-described or normal food, this is not the spot for you. It's an experience, for sure. For some people this will be a five-star experience, but it was too uncomfortable for me, and at that price point, that wasn't acceptable. Felt more like a club than the advertised "fine dining restaurant".

Anastasia Hannam

Kian was my host and he couldnt be any sweeter!

Erik Sargent

The new menu is great. Awesome service.

I can't speak enough about the service and people working at Departure. I was in constant communication with Arianna about a large group (that kept getting smaller) She was extremely communicative and flexible with us when things changed on our end. I can't speak enough about how wonderful she was to work with. The actual dinner was fantastic. We got the chef's tasting menu which was a flat amount per person. Our server, Laura, was an absolute joy! She was just as attentive and professional! Food was fantastic, view was fantastic, but the service really put it over the edge! Book early! They fill up!

Decent drinks and great view but super expensive

Awesome view and atmosphere. Really creative drinks. Plenty of options. Pricey, but you're paying for the experience.

Departure has delicious food and great drinks. That's not too hard to come by these days however, so what really sets it apart from the rest is the atmosphere. Departure brings about a high class asian dining experience like no other. And by high class I mean very high, as in several stories high. Departures greatest aspect is that you get a fantastic view of the city with your meal. I would definitely add this as a mist visit location if you are ever in Portland and want to experience a great night out.

Executive Chef Jonathan Rendon spoiled us from begining to end.
