Last night was my first time there. Had a blast! Tyler, one of the bartenders, is stinking awesome! Will be going back.
Last I went I found out that I was banned because of some false accusations that I was in the restroom doing cocaine with no absolute proof or any hard evidence. I been going to that establishment since I moved in the area. I had given them plenty of my money and I never been put out or never gave the club or security any problems. The guy at the door has always been cool & respectfull we even jokeed a few times & had short conversations about being in the same line of work. I never had these problems until recently when the security personnel had changed. The head security guard gave me trouble about my vape pen & I respectfully put it away like he asked. Every since then he's always been harassing me. Maybe he's discriminatory towards me & how I dress & carry myself. Maybe I should take some law advice on how to respond to this matter...
Three of us agree plus reports from others.. PSYCHOACTIVE AGENT IN THE DRINKS AT THIS BAR! I'm not making this up and we aren't crazy, I'm a local guide from New Orleans! Something I've never experienced either that has no buzz. Avoid this place at all costs even though it is a very fun retro music bar. Somehow the mixed drinks are adulterated here. Contact me directly for more information. I'm not kidding one bit and I've NEVER EVER left a review like this in my life! I'm super serious. Really. Contact me directly if you doubt what I'm saying and we'll give you the details and what we had to drink.
I came from Dallas and it's very sad how security trying to kick you out at 1:30am from club. They are very rude . My first and last time here. :(
Used to love coming here but not anymore....LAME....way overcrowded but people are friendly, good drinks but at times bartenders only seem to notice the regulars first, even when you been waiting for a drink. Some of the bouncers are JERKS, seems they are mostly steroids raging and unfriendly...that being said, it's not worth $9.00 cover fee
Great music
Fun and lively music
I have lived in OKC for over 11 years now and Groovy's is an excellent place for dancing, dancing, and more dancing. If you aren't in the mood for dancing then you might need to go to those boring places like Graham's and/or Cowboys, but the happening place is Groovy's and no i'm not old, I am 40 years old and I absolutely love this place!!!!! The staff treats you like they've known you forever and they don't put up with any bullsh*t!!!! SO C'MON OUT AND HAVE A BLAST!!!!!
$9.00 cover to get in. They ONLY take cash. Dance floor is small and employees incredibly rude.
Friendly bartender, great crowd. Feels like a throwback to the disco era, which from its name, makes sense I suppose. If I'm ever around that part of town at night again, I'd probably go back.
Nice
I have always loved Groovys, but after last night I will never go back. The line had about 20 people in front of us and I counted at least that plus more leaving. A normal place would let people in however this place let people cut from the back. We literally waited an hour and a half and moved up about 10 spots. The bouncer is terrible. Very disappointing they would let people just walk in and disregard the people waiting in line. After an hour and a half we took our business elsewhere. I do not recommend this place!
Great atmosphere and the music was pumping!!!
Too much smoke and music is not always trendy or "danceable".gets very hot, crowded and cloudy with the smoking by 11 ..small dance floor....go early (9)if you don't want to stand waiting to get in. . different age groups and different types(some with suits, some with bling)...all in all not a bad evening out for couple of ladies just wanting to dance....
I got mugged
Great music and the drinks are always strong... For the older crowd as opposed to the younger...
The music is nostalgic and the staff is very good!
Sux
$9 cover charge, but fun as hell!
Small, but popular, always a crowd. Awesome drinks. Is not easily notice from the road
Great atmosphere. People of all ages can get along and have fun with no issues.
Service was good but felt like my friend and I were too young to be in there compared to the age of the rest of the crowd...the music was fun but it didn't have a lot of variety, just the same kind all night.
Too much smoke. No DJ!?
Not only is Groovy's a great place to have a good time, but they are supportive of their community. They are the coolest neighbors in Founders District for sure and they also have generous hearts.
Would give 5 stars if it was not for smoking. I love the place and music rocks . DJ is excellent and great drink selection. I totally despise the smoking inside. Will Oklahoma ever outlaw smoking in public places? U get out of there smelling really bad. Hope we get there soon like most other States.
The worst DJ ever with no talent and knowledge about the Dane music It was supposed to be 80s night and all he played was just a bunch of rock songs that he already squeezes into his playlist Matter of fact he just made playlist of his favorite songs without even knowing if they are dancing music or not
Mid life crisis central. Rubbish club for idiots.
Had so much fun
It's really fun place for dancing
You're going to wait about 15 minutes to get back to the bar for a refill. It's to small for how many people they cram into it.
Fun place to dance, drink, people watch!
I like this place. The bartenders are great and I've always had a great time whenever I've visited.
Love Groovys:) been going there for years . Great crowds . Only place I want to party and dance .
Never seen so many idiots in one place.
Great music and bartender!
Pretty cool place. Bartending staff is very friendly
So fun! Great crowd. If you want to go to a place where it isnt the "collegw crowd" where people are more chill and have a good time, this is your place!! The dance floor and lighting system is awesome!!
Their hours said open and they were closed. Girlfriends and I got all ready and we’re very disappointed.
It’s a good club but little crowded & people in their late 30’s
Rude and violent security/bouncers... got violent with my parents for no reason.
$9 cover. The dance floor is SUPER small. Overall not my favorite place in town. This place attracts an older crowd.
Always a fun crowd and place to go!!!
A timeless classic in OKC nightlife culture. Catering to several generations spanning from 70's disco to modern pop hits, there's something for everyone! Arrive early to avoid a line out the door. Before 10 is a good rule. Bring cash for the door cover, which as of today, is $9. Enjoy a significant sounds system, dance floor, disco lights, LEDs, and televisions while you sip on a cocktail of your choosing. Excellent place to bring an outgoing group of dance fans!
Night club with people of all ages on a crowded dance floor. The cover is $9 cash. Strong drinks. Smoking is permitted inside.
There is something magical, nay, mystical that happens when you enter Groovy's. You must pay a $9 cover to experience this catastrophe and it is completely worth it. At least once. The place is about the size of four shoe boxes, so there might be a line to get in. While in line, you will begin to get a taste of what is waiting beyond the front doors when you see who else is waiting to get in: 50 year old secretaries. 20 something dudes looking to hit on 50 year old secretaries. A bachelorette party. Rednecks. Girls that are way too hot to be going in. A guy from Ohio. This club is smoky. Both with cigarettes and an obnoxious amount of SFX smoke that pours on the dance floor. The dance floor is a drink free and cigarette free zone. There are large bouncers that will politely remind you to get off the floor with your drink. The dance floor is usually packed and everyone is having fun. I later realized that some of the smoke was coming from the people that were rubbing their groins together. Paper glitter will randomly fall on to the dance floor. People think this is awesome. Later, drunk people will pick up the stuff from the floor and throw it back up in the air and it will land in your drink, but you won't care because you are really drunk. The music is a collection of hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and a sprinkling of recent hits. Even your clumsy friends will be able to dance to this music. For some reason, there is a break of silence for about 4 - 10 seconds between each song. It was annoying, but it seemed to help clear the dance floor off between songs. The bar has three convenient locations to get drinks at. Sadly, the fence around the dance floor squeezes in the egress and makes it difficult to go back and forth. The bartenders are usually making Screaming Orgasms or Buttery Nipples or the other shots that people think are cute and order at this type of establishment. Still, the line moves quickly. Beers were around $3 and my Captain and Cokes were $6. The reason you want to go to this bar is to watch the other people that are going to this bar. There is a cast of characters that I assume are paid to hang out and dance. They have to be actors because there are not real people like this in the world, right? The old man in a Disco Army uniform. Girl with Mohawk like De Niro from Taxi Driver. The guy in his 50s that looks like an adult Greg Brady and wears sunglasses and a suit. The woman with outrageously large breasts and a shirt cut down to her belly button. You will be unable to turn your eyes away from this moving cataclysm of flesh. The place opens at 9:00pm. I arrived at 10:00pm and it was crowded. I spent three hours people watching and wasn't bored for an instant. I do not think I will ever return to Groovy's as is was loud and crowded and smoky. But I think if you can cough up $9, you should at least go once. I went alone and had a blast. You go there with a few friends and you will definitely have fun. And if you are lucky, the 50s Greg Brady might take off his suit jacket, unbutton his shirt and dance with you all night long. Who knows... maybe you will become one of the regulars.
Gave up our reserved VIP because they "got busy" and did not even apologize for it. They were rude from the minute we stepped inside.
This place is always incredibly entertaining
Very smoky in here. Drinks are just okay... Greatly diverse age group however. Won't be back.
Don't waste your time. Rude staff, and absolutely no customer service. Extremely smoky and low class.
