Excellent craft drinks at the bar. Great friendly service. The Saxophone player walking around adds to the experience. The menu looks good with some tasty dishes;well save that for next time. The entire place, we are told, transforms to a dance club at night. Nonetheless great drinks and service. Highly recommended.

Nice place to chill, eat, dance for a girl night out or date night. Very good martinis and happy on Friday and Saturday night. Love the variety of music you can dance to.

The premium cocktails are absolutely delicious! The food is great and ALL of the staff are friendly and attentive. An upscale cocktail lounge is exactly what the Short North needed. A fun place to go after dinner with an upbeat high energy vibe. It will definitely be a go to spot.

This was a pretty bad dance club. Small dancefloor, about enough room for 20 people Max. The DJ was mediocre, he cut ALL lyrics from DMX's up in here. The drinks were crazy expensive too. 12 dollar bourbon rocks.

Pretentious, uncomfortable, snotty, absurdly overreaching, and a dress code - seriously!? Talk about trying to do almost everything possible to not stay in business. I give them another year, max! This place is not relatable and poorly represents the community of the Short North. I miss Level.

Monarch is a great lounge in the Short North. The decor is very well done; somewhat intimate. It's not the largest place, but it's laid out very well. There's high top, couch and table seating. If that doesn't work for you, there's seating at the bar. Our bartender, Danny G, was GREAT! Get him if you can. All of his drinks tasted smooth and he had helpful recommendations. Around 11:00 the crowd really starts to roll in. There's a dancefloor and the guy-to-girl ratio was just right. Come dressed looking good--not in jeans and a t-shirt.

Nice place - it has sort of a speakeasy vibe to it. The drinks were good and the food was tasty as well - not typical bar food, very interesting small plates. I went for dinner but it's not really a dinner type place - Go for the drinks and the food is more tasting fare. As a nice added benefit there was live music - it was a good time, I would go back.

Monarch is a great new addition to Columbus...it has a Miami lounge type of vibe with great cocktails...it is a nice place so dress accordingly...the staff is also great!

It’s quite unfortunate, because when this place first opened, I was all about it. I told all my friends about it and I frequently visited. However, recently they have implemented a dress code. They have a bouncer and will not let you enter after 11pm if you’re wearing shorts. In the summer time when I am out with friends or my sig other and want to stop in for a cocktail, I am unable to do so. Didn’t realize my money wasn’t good there because I am a male not dressed up. Totally unacceptable in my book. Don’t plan on returning as long as this policy is in place, and I will advise my friends to do the same.

Absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere and food. We took our daughter there for her birthday and had a great evening. Saxophone player walking throughout dining room was a very nice touch. Shawn, the owner, is very engaging and made us feel like we were long time customers. Definitely going to be a repeat customers.

I was actually on my way somewhere else when I saw a sign out front about their HH. Being that it was a Saturday evening, I was very intrigued that theirs went until 8pm, so I popped in to check it out. The hostess (Z) who also ended up being my server, was extremely friendly and helpful. I had a comfortable booth overlooking High Street all to myself, enjoyed a delicious cocktail, Burrata salad (which seemed very similar to a Caprese, but so much better), and coconut shrimp. Wonderful experience, I will definitely be back with friends!

I really enjoyed the food here, especially the Sea Bass Ceviche and the Veal/Beef meatball. My group had a lot of starters and courses and I think every single one of them was balanced, flavorful, and worth trying. Drinks were also quite nice and fairly priced. The decor and ambience invited conversation, and we were sitting away from the music/DJ, near the front windows, where we could have conversation at a regular volume.- No shouting over each other! Very good place to relax and have quality food/drink.

Drinks were so-so, mojito was sour with not much mint flavor in spite of having a fair amount of mint in the drink, with some modifications, it became a passable drink. The orchid drink, I forget the exact name, was fairly good, though compared to the version at M it seemed to be less smooth and flavorful, more an issue with the balance of the flavors than the ingredients used. The drink also seemed to have a significantly smaller pour for a similar price, though happy hour will cut the price in half. The small plates we tried were ok and may be tuned a bit prior to their full opening. The lobster croquette had a good texture crisp outside, with a soft and cheesey inside. no actual lobster or chucks were noticeable. The flavor was a fairly intense and flavorful combination of smokey from probably a gouda cheese, seafood flavor, sauce that came with the appetizer. While normally I like fairly forward flavors, this is an instance where for me I would not mind it being tuned down a bit. In very small portions it was OK but over a whole croquette it was too much for me. The decor was nice, the black and red at night give a very, lounge appropriate look. The service was ok, though the place is just opening. I fully expect that with time and experience the service will be top notch given the aspirations presented.

Honestly this is just what Columbus needed! This is a high-class bar but you feel welcomed and everyone can be there! The food is outstanding! The seabass ceviche is the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to Spain 3 different times and lived in Belize and can honestly say it’s perfect! The staff was amazing as well, the manager came over to personally say hello and suggested his favorite drinks for us to try! Monarchs happy hour is the best and then you can’t miss it! If you’re looking for something casual and just a meal with friends, you got it or if you’re looking to go out on the town and party/dance you got that too!

Tried to tell me $600 for a table... no complimentary anything... let over 100 people in I front of us. Stood in line for about an hour.. for the guy at the door to say "I'm not letting anyone else un for an hour!" Mind you it's Feb 25th in Columbus ohio...

I went there on a Sunday night which the place was very hectic and busy. I’ve been there a few times before on Sunday and that time it was way more people than usual. The night was going well until one of the workers kept bumping into me MULTIPLE TIMES, with out saying excuse me and when I confronted her about it she tells security to put me out b/c I was “all in her face” and they put me out.A paying customer out w/o hearing what I had to say. I don’t wanna say it was a race thing but Im African American, she’s white. I’ll be telling friends and family not to go there.

I'll start by saying the dress code is laughable. It's almost as if the owner has no idea where he put this eclectic Miami knock-off catastrophe. The bouncers look and act like they were taken from a shelter and given the pretty woman treatment for one night, during which they exercise their new found "power" to feel something for once. Overpriced. Fake atmosphere. Boring.
