REVIEWS OF Magnolia Cleveland IN Ohio

I absolutely love the aesthetic of the place. Sound system is AMAZING and the staff are hard working! They even have “pop-up” sushi that is prepared by a world class chef! The bartender mixed our drinks perfectly and before we knew it the staff cleaned up like a stage crew at a play and the party began! It was BUMPING and full of amazing people from all over cleveland! 10 outta 10 would recommend!

Really one of Cleveland's most happening nightlife spots! Great DJs, hip vibes, bottle services, dancing, beautiful people, flares, strobes, and donuts. Quite the combination!

Got denied entry for wearing adidas shoes. Saw someone in the smoking patio of this place wearing the same shoes. When I pointed it out to the bouncer, he looked at me and just said "it doesn't matter, you can't come in"

Decided not to go in because it waa close to closing and it was expensive. Some bouncer came out of nowhere and yelled in my face and shined his flashlight at me. He literally chased me out. I would've gone back when I had more time, but he ruined it and I'll never go back. Neither will the 6 ppl with me.

Dan Gonzalez

this place pretends to be special, but they have a really sad venue with novice DJs. Only a city like Cleveland could think this is a special place

Magnolia is definitely the place to be in downtown Cleveland if you're looking for an awesome night out. Great service and great music!

Visited Magnolia for the first time to see a certain DJ with a group of friends, overall it was a terrible time, would not recommend. First, we were turned away at the door because my friend's jacket was deemed inappropriate, and the bouncer wouldn't listen to our explanation that we were going to use the free coat check. Then, we walked back to my car, and I let my friend borrow an appropriate jacket for Magnolia's arbitrary dress code. This time, the bouncer gave me a hard time for wearing "sneakers," until I explained they were real Portuguese leather designer shoes from Amsterdam. We were reluctantly let in, only to pay $20 for each guy and $10 for each girl. Within fifteen minutes of arriving, I'm outside having a smoke and I see my friend getting thrown out of Magnolia for no reason whatsoever. I immediately left to deal with the situation. Never again will I return.

Inconsistent dress policy which leaves the crowd wondering if at any moment they will be physically removed from the venue after paying the ludicrous $20 entry fee for men and whatever it is for women at any given moment - Note that these are prices for a show that was marketed as a “free show” weeks in advance. Know several people who paid to get in, and were then promptly thrown out with no refund for wearing official merchandise from the headliner. The management continues to double down on this absurd policy.

One of the worst places I've ever been to downtown. It was for my bachelorette party. They were ridiculously rude and it took forever to even get in even when we were next in line we still had to wait awhile. The bouncers were disrespectful. The bathroom setup is awful and same with the entire bar in general the staff was extremely rude. Do not recommend never going back.

Magnolia is a super unique venue for cleveland. It feels like you’re in a new york city night club. The venue switches up the art work on the walls frequently and i always adding new spots for your Instagram pics. They showcase great local talent and really keep upping their game on bringing in massive DJs. Definitely a place to see and be seen if you’re in cleveland

If "douchebag" had an official unenthusiastic unimaginative try-hard place of business and those people from that particular club wanted to go to a different club, I would imagine they would walk by the basic cliche douchebag entrance, take one look, and continue on down the street. Not because they are too good for it, as my story may have led you to believe falsely, but because this club would make them feel as if maybe they hadn't reached full-on "Defcon 5 douchebag status". It would trigger a slew of jealousy and insecurities, they couldn't begin to fathom let alone process. They would postulate that maybe they had wasted part of their lives not aspiring to truly become the basic bro's that the people who run this club had not only strived to become but had surpassed on a "look at my tribal tattoos, how chic do I look in my outlet store Calvin Klein untucked clubbing shirt and sweet brown dress shoes gelled up massacre of basic bromanship" But I digress. I wouldn't go back.

they are selling tickets to an event that "they cannot gaurentee entry into after 10:30pm" even though the place opens at 9:00. upon going to their website and reading everything its clear; their dress code policy is arbitrary at best and 100% directed at keeping urban males out of the club (no boots, sneakers, athletic attire) they allude to dress shoes, pants, button down, with a tie. and even the vault isnt that prohibative

Ryan Short

Service staff is very rude. Bartender (who hadn’t been the one serving) said 20% tip was not enough and they won’t appreciate anything less, then proceeded to state that they will remember that. Advice on the cover charge: heard and saw numerous people get in for free by arguing against the $20 cover. For all women, definitely negotiate and you will likely get in free!

I ordered a bottle last night in bottle service... the bottle girl told me it would be $280 then she comes back 20 minutes later and gives me the receipt and it was $420? That’s a pretty big difference! Didn’t order anything else either. Don’t lie to your customers about prices! So ridiculous

Went with a group of 20 friends for a few birthday celebrations and had an absolute blast. DJ was great, drinks were great, and the bartenders were super fast. I recommend redbull vodkas to keep you dancing all night!

James Palko

Best indoor club in Cleveland. The music is never the same, they always bring in topnotch DJs. The staff is super friendly and know how to keep the party going. Just tried their sushi too.. absolutely amazing! Highly recommend

We are from new york and the bouncer didn't allow one of the friends inside the club because he had boots on which was really weird. Never really experienced this before. When i noticed one of the other guys with boots on, i addressed it to the bouncer and he kind of ignored it cause he was a racist. Ignore this place by all means they don't at all respect people.

Went to Magnolia and got a section for my birthday. Had a great time until it was time for our waitress to cash us out. For whatever reason, the card that was used was being declined. I was going half with someone so I gave our waitress $120 in cash to go towards the check in hopes that would help. Sure enough, the card went through and I thought that was end of our troubles. Turns out that full check of $300+ was still put on the card, although we were being told it was declined, and also did not reflect the $120 I gave our waitress. It then dawned on me that our waitress, for whatever reason, made the assumption that the $120 was her tip for the 2 hours we were at Magnolia. There was no need for a waitress other than to bring out my birthday sign. We poured our own drinks for the most part and even added hookah to the section. After weeks (reservation was on 10/26/18) of emailing and phone calls, I have yet to hear back from anyone. An evening celebration with average customer service quickly turned into a night I’ll never forget. I do not plan on coming back to Magnolia. This was my first and last time there. My advice to those who plans on getting a section/having a good time at Magnolia, don’t have too much fun in case your waitress takes advantage of you.

The dress code is strict here (I’ve been denied for sneakers/hoodies) but that’s to be expected at a nicer establishment. Great djs every weekend, from local talent to huge acts. Servers/bartenders are fast and professional even when it’s busy. Best nightlife in Cleveland by far!

Nice scene

This speakeasy-esque club has brought a spark back to Cleveland, literally! Both in the energtic atmosphere and sparklers shimmeeing as the soar over the crowd. The bottle service gals strut through the crowd to hand deliver a bottle of the guests choice. Weather in VIP or at the bar, you feel elite when partying at Magnolia! Be sure to get the password!!

pretentious nonsense.. This isnt what cleveland is about. PS.. They edit and delete their Facebook reviews so dont trust that.. Google and yelp are far more accurate since they can not be edited by the business..

Great club if you're looking for nicer dressed with more dance music. Typically fast service, can slow down when it gets busy which is the typical. Staff and drinks have always been great. Remains one of my go to spots

high end speaker system isn't even tuned. sounds great in a 5 ft circle in front of the booth and the rest of the club sounds terrible. drinks are overpriced, service is slow, drink selection is severely limited. i'll never go back.

I visited this place on a Friday night and it was crazy. Between the music, the lights, and the smoke/sparklers, it was an incredible atmosphere that made me feel like I was somewhere far away from rainy ole Cleveland. The dj that night was fantastic too, I think his name was Justice Nyce. I’ll absolutely be back again and I heard they even had Salsa nights.

Matthew

Rip off. Why was I charged a much larger tip than I left (more than half the cost of the check)?! Also, the women at the front "couldn't find my table", so I was charged $20 a person to get in, yet I found my bottle service table party just fine (which was to get me in for free). The obvious thirst for money of the staff puts you off VERY quickly, this place feels like it's being run by poor people.

K McCullough

Best club in Cleveland. Staff is super professional and the DJ's kill it every night! Who doesn't love a speakeasy?

Brookelynnn Goupil

For me this was the second best club I’ve been too, FWD being the first! The energy from everyone is amazing and I’ve always felt safe and secure there! No complaints from me! It’s a must see place if you’re ever in Cleveland!

Magnolia is my favorite nightclub in town. It has a super fun design, appearing to be a donut shop from the front but has a secret door inside into a nightclub. The Dj always play fun upbeat music with a corresponding light and smoke show. I would highly recommend a visit to Magnolia!

Jordan Kazakov

Generally good music. Good service, fast bartenders.

We came in with a bachelorette party, got a table, paid for our champagne. We danced and had a good time. I paid $10 for a shot, then we all decided it was time to leave. The waitress was acting dumb and said she had no idea where my friend's ID was so we went to the bar to get it, they didn't have it, then we had to get into a shouting match with one of the bouncers so we could get the ID back and leave. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

awesome place!

Paid a ten dollar cover charge, over priced drinks, and then the music was just some techno b.s.. lamest "dance club" ever. Techno is dead. Lets just play the songs people actually want to listen to. Save your money

I would give zero stars if given the option. I have held bottle service contests here for my team and also was involved in an event they sponsored, yet they treated me absolutely terrible. I was physically removed for not having the appropriate colored wristband on to talk with coworkers and friends who had bottles for a birthday party. When I attempted to assert how ridiculous that was, they literally grabbed me. Their entitlement was already an annoyance but if you're having an event or paying for bottles, I would advise you take your business elsewhere. Management: please feel free to contact me in regards to this complaint.

Magnolia, as an experience, was thoroughly disappointing. My first time (and last) was when I wondered over to this club while bar-hopping in the flats. I was meeting some friends who were already inside, but I had to leave another who was underage, which was a bummer. I repeated this fact to the lady who was working at the entrance, who for some reason really didnt like me mentioning this to her. At no point did I say anything to her which would have been insulting, so I was surprised to hear her tell me, "Sir, you need to stop talking. Just pay the cover charge and go in". I'd already given her my card, which she swiped and asked me to sign. I didnt like that she was using this tone with me, so I asked her to cancel my transaction so I could leave. She said that couldn't be done, and kept up her derisive tone. I'd had enough, signed the receipt, walked inside and left in a matter of minutes. I will not be recommending this place to any of my friends because of this horrible level of custom service.

Magnolia is not very nice and the bouncers are very unkind. Not worth being dismissed by the bouncers. They are not nice. Magnolia isn’t the place to be.

it's with a very heavy heart that I write this review. over a year ago Magnolia began to host an event series on the first Thursday of the month to support more underground house and techno talent. these events were free, because the bar was easily able to afford paying for talent based on the higher drink prices. recently the events were moved to Friday evenings. entry prices were unknown and dictated by however the bouncer was feeling, despite asking ahead of time on pricing from the venue. people begun getting removed from the club for even wearing official merch (that matched the DJ). they begun alienating the group of people they were targeting as customers with the dj selections they made through an enforcement of needing dress shirts and dresses to attend. it's really unfortunate to see this happen, especially when many of us were willing to spend over $100/night each to attend an event there. I'll continue to drive the 3-6 hours to Detroit and Chicago to see the same acts over attending shows here. *** Since this review was posted, promoters from TanZ have individually reached out harrassing several formal patrons and acted completely unprofessional without being prompted for a discussion. It's surprising that this level of unprofessionalism can run rampant and unchecked in this area without consequence.

Bathroom attendant made us tip him to use the bathroom. Get rid of him and it might be an okay place.

Place is lights out. From the service to the music it’s the best in Cleveland and one of the best in the entire Midwest. The new sushi pop up rolled out by Ayumi is out of this world and a must try!

Michael Roberts

Very nice atmosphere and nice service. Bartenders were very helpful and treated me better than I expected.

I will not be going back to magnolia. As me and a group of friends were walking in, I got into an argument with the girl working and the bouncer. They would not let one of our guy friends in because he had boots on. And I’m not talking dirty work boots, they were nice $200 boots actually. But they were allowing me to go in with ripped up jeans on?? I asked the girl why I’m allowed in with ripped jeans and not him? And she replied “because you’re a girl.” Their dress code only applies to men and it’s very sexist. Let me tell you, they lost a lot of business that night as we had an entire group of 15 people. They don’t have a set dress code, and can basically make up the rules as they go when they decide who can and who can’t go in.

Rachel Kataryna

First of all.... no. This place is effing rude and awful. We got there to celebrate a friends birthday and she had VIP. We got there and the guy said "UMMM NO she has like 20 people in there already (lie) and you have to pay the cover charge $20 guys, $10 girls"... so as i called my friend ... the bouncer (short, napoleon complex type guy) told my husband and his friend that "you all either have to pay and go in or step outside" (into 20° weather) and my husbands friend asks "can the ladies stay inside and we will step out since its cold?" the short guy says "absolutely not, get outside" so we go to leave..... that's not the end of the story but that's enough for you to know how much these employees suck. Each person that worked there that I encountered was rude. Go somewhere else I promise you magnolia isn't that cool and way overpriced. Boo.

Hidden dance club, it's cool inside!

I don’t like going out in the winter but if I’m going out, it’s to Magnolia!! I love the music they play, it’s great and really gets you dancing! The venue is perfect, not too big not too small and the staff is amazing! Not to mention who doesn’t love taking pictures with the infamous wall with the wings!
