REVIEWS OF PHD Lounge IN New York

Robert Lindstrom

They lie at the door step telling you ball park estimate prices. Told us my group of 9 had to pay a 6,000 dollar cover for full meal service, and you had to pay that 6K before getting upstairs to the bar. A group of four girls (thots) after me.. bouncer told them needed to spend at least $150 which is entirely reasonable. If you don't have enough room for a large party, tell us. You aren't studio 54, stop trying to act like it.

Views great, music - fine, early 2000 nostalgic beat hits. Guys have a $100 drink minimum each, which is obnoxious, but OK. Then, even if you get a table ,the security can tell you "stand over there or I will escort you out" if you stand 1 ft away from another table, which is deemed too close. Not sloppy dancing, not drunk, just standing & talking. The couple at the table that complained had 2 bussers and 2 security guys surrounding them, just pushing people around. It's a get down kinda place, not an elite club. People are everywhere, it's busy. This treatment was unnecessary, and is enough for me and my friends to never come back. Not your good spirited night out in New York place.

Nicolas Garrn

From Berlin. View is amazing. Drinks are disgraceful... Tried different ones in the hope of a one time thing

wojciech niedzwiecki

Was invited by my dance instructor to an event, wanted to see her solo performance. Was denied entrance because I don't have a "City ID". Non-resident forbidden zone. Nice.

Really beautiful views and upscale environment, but you want to know the right nights to go because it can get a bit sloppy/douchey if it’s too busy. For NYC, TAO group knows how to make a beautiful, well maintained club. If you’re visiting the city it’s a definite destination for the atmosphere and views of the skyline alone (a beautiful balcony and floor to ceiling windows). If you’re a local, ask around what the better nights are (I’d say weekdays because it’s more industry people and models vs weekend warriors), but usually expect a finance guy, mid 20s-mid 30s professionals crowd. Not too snobby, but not low key either. Dress code is upscale, but don’t wear anything you wouldn’t want a drink spilled on. Overall, one of the nicer clubs in the city for a classy night of drinks and dancing, but not much of a culture or vibe. You’ll make your own fun, music is typical pop/hip hop (nothing special), crowd is decent, safe for a work party kind of spot.

Carlos Aragon

The place is always fun! The view is so beautiful! The dj always has good music! Definitely a place to go if you’re visiting NYC!

Valentina Bishay

The worst experience. We have been on this spot many times. But hostess what the hired recently was so rude and unprofessional, she was thinking that we did not have a table and said the tables are booked (all the evening was free 10 tables around), I think they have to hire not a DUMB people, but smart and professional staff, service in danger and our crowd in skipping this place! Hope administration will change the service. Drugs there sold with help of bouncers at the club. When we was leaving they was thinking that we might want to buy "something" and asked if we want to tip the bouncer, but we let them understand in a good manner that we actually not this kind of people. haha.

Orlando Caceres

This was my first NY club experience. Let me tell ya. It was a blast! Music was great, drinks were strong and the view was amazing.

Mohammed Khan

Upscale bar for the affluent and wealthier folks. Don't expect to go up unless you're willing to fork up $150+.

Mark Pine

Just got home, amazing time. I'm speaking from a male perspective here and literally there was lines of woman going in all the way to when I was walking out. I couldn't believe I was leaving but I was a little sleepy after a long day of working. The place is off the hook. The views are great from the huge terrace. The hotel itself is awesome. It's a paradise for people who like to have a good time and party. There is a DJ in the lobby of the hotel when you walk in. Tonight was my first time and I love it. Will be back no question. I know some people complain about PHD being expensive but if you want to hang out in what looks like the set to a Puff Daddy video you have to pay. There are plenty of bars that serve alcohol but if your single and looking to mingle this is your place. Seriously I can't believe I left, the party was so official.

chelsea camilo

Had the most horrific night at this bar last night. The bouncers and "supervisors" were extremely rude and be-littling to my friends and I and refused to let us enter the club regardless of my table and some friends already upstairs. The bouncers had the audacity to insult and accuse my friend of being "undocumented". This racism is unacceptable. No-one should be judged by looks or an accent. I cant believe this place is still running with staff like this. I will never come back here.

Adel Amico

worst rooftop ever the hostess man downstairs is very rude I want say to management you losing VIP customer because of him thanks

Craig Avena

Great for after work get together soon! Nice patio! Can't beat the view!

Marco Roca

PH-D has a fabulous view and is an overall excellent nightclub. However, I take off one star because many members of their staff (from bartenders to doormen to security) are known to be rude to patrons, and I have personally had unpleasant interactions despite bringing repeat business.

Leia A

Good music and one of my favorite places to be with friends but the bouncers really need to come down to earth. They make up prices to scam you.

Xander Groesbeek

If you just reached the legal drinking age, and are sensitive to recognition of others by being able to pay for overpriced drinks: this is your place to be. Otherwise, find a decent cocktail bar and skip this one.

Ishita Dasgupta

A girl who went ahead and kissed the bouncer got in for free. 3 guys well dressed and behaved didn't get to enter. And me and a friend of mine were asked to pay 150$ to enter. Some nonsense entry policy going in there.

Avital Maslennikov

Great place, good energy and good service. The music could be better.

RITI BAHLANI

The cocktails are pretty pricey and music is not very great. There are better rooftops around the area.

Xavier Bourne

Do not recommend going for people of color. I was denied from reserving a table because i was not “White and Blonde”. Unacceptable!

Deonia Jolie

Lit. I celebrated my birthday this year at PHD!

Maggie LaRoche

Horrible hosts. Bouncers were rude. Honestly the worst bar you could go into in nyc. Had more fun at the dive bar down the street.

Line Söderblom Alm

This rooftop has an amazing view over NYC skyline, both uptown and downtown. The music is cool, the drinks tastes amazing and the atmosphere is great. I had a blast last time I was there, dancing and drinking! Really recommend it as a place to go and have drinks, before you hit the nightlife later.

Amber Sahbudak

Skanks at the door

Molly Nye

Way overpriced, smells like vomit and the music isn’t tasteful. Ordered two vodka red bulls total was $40 before tax and tip #outrageous

Tommy McDaniel

Show up here. Be on the list. Still be told you can't come in because how else would they remember how cool they think they are. Don't waste your time and money.

Matthew R

I don't think I'll be coming here again. The guys in front of us agreed to a $150 bar tab each to get in which shouldn't be hard to hit when they're charging $19 for a vodka soda and $12 for a beer. The DJ technically wasn't very good but played decent music. With how packed it was there wasn't a ton of room to dance. I'm glad I got in for free otherwise I would be terribly disappointed.

Will Bub

- Strange music choices for a Saturday night - not very big

Elena Unver

$300 just to get in..? U kidding me. There are so many more better places in NYC, so ridiculous. Rude bouncers&cheap crowd r not making this place any better. Better stay home then visit this place.

Julia Weingarden

The bouncers were extremely rude bordering on harassment to me and my friend! This club is full of creeps and bad vibes and there are so many better places in the neighborhood. Never come here!!!!

David Sealey

How your going to have people pay 300 to get in and say they need to get a table and a bottle service. What kind of club is this.

Tarik Griffith

Terrible experience, I'd give zero stars if I could. Charging whatever they felt like at random. First it was $200 drink tab each. Then later $100 then later it was ladies free guys $150, mind you 2 of our friends got in absolutely free 30 mins prior. Never doing that again, the lady at the door was trying to get over.

Kai vloggt

We went to Dream yesterday under the impression that a NYE event with rooftop view would be held at the rooftop bar of this hotel. Instead, the event was in the "Gallery" on the first floor. No rooftop, no ball drop. There were other guests who had the same problem and even our concierge wasn't aware of this.

Henny White

Spectacular views of both the Empire State building and the One World Trade center! If you are in NYC this is a must visit rooftop!

Rick Pierce

Awesome rooftop bar and a cool layout, but you're forced to rent a table and it's very expensive. There are alternatives nearby with comparable views that charge half the price.

Alexandra Spirer

A great lounge with amazing views of the city. My friends and I went for a benefit and ended up hanging out outside at one of their tables with the most incredible views. Good drinks and company. Fun place for after work as well as on the weekends.

Alex Basiri

This place is awful. The rudest staff I ever see in my life. Even one star is too much for this garbage can.

P J S

Good music and vibe. Great views over the city at night.

Ahmad A

Cool spot. Very small and the outdoor area is mad small. But amazing view of the city

Jade Hall

Yuck, yuck, yuck! This may have been the worst rooftop bar I have ever been too. Bar service and bartenders were terrible, they could barely concentrate on drinks and customers. The crowd was terrible, filled with tons of rude and frankly obnoxiously drunk. People were so drunk they were sleeping on couches and puking on the floors. They boast this as some sort of club so we went to dance and have drinks. There's no dance floor! Instead people are dancing in the aisles and it's so jam packed you can't move without getting pushed and elbowed. Not recommended! Go somewhere better!

Marissa Cartagena

A man sexually assaulted my friend and I when we visited there. My friend was obviously upset from the man assaulting her too but WE were escorted out. When we were forcibly dragged to the lobby the manager, a short white man, was there. I tried telling him what happened and he told me to "shut the f**k up". I became frustrated and upset and was removed roughly by the bouncers. The bouncer wouldn't let me go even when I was outside trying to explain that there was a man upstairs sexually assaulting women. The manager informed us he was calling the police on US. They refused to give us their names when we asked for them. We paid $200 to get into the bar, with an extra $100, and we were kicked out for being upset that a man was grabbing and touching women inappropriately in their club. This is unprofessional and is dangerous because it is silencing victims of assault. This could've easily been handled but they thought it best to protect a man sexually assaulting women who paid to be in their club.

Lele oliver

Is not worth to have a nice view and have so many frustrations over there. This place definitely do not represent New York classy night style. You must go there If you don't mind to wait 30 minutes to get in the bathroom and dance with everyone bump into you but if you have a sense of class you are going to hate this place . Girls, pay close attention to the reviews where other girls complained about being assaulted and have any consideration from the staff. PHD you can do it better! Please train your staff and find out a way for the use of the bathrooms be more efficient.

EatAMyOshi

Most disrespectful and rude staff i’ve ever encountered - not worth the effort

Tony Wu

Music way to loud and theres no other place in here thst is less Quiet. Other than that the drinks and service is great.

Kiara Esteves

If your a woman, you'd really enjoy this place. Men typically are expected to pay a hefty entrance fee when there are major events in NYC. i.e. NYFW. Drinks are pricey but tasty. Always has a good vube and amazing music though so if you want to dance the night away with your girlfriends without getting drunk, this place is perfect for you.

Susan Pope

Everything was OK, worth to visit. Bring a big enough group w/ you and have fun!

Harvin Singh

Good place , Great vibes , views , Music but a horrible doormen. No matter how much money you spend with them they don’t tend to recall and a party for one $150 for their personal pocket, It ain’t a Taj Mahal we going too upstairs. Seriously the management needs to be stopped or this won’t end well for the company. These are definitely not getting my table business at this location.

Milena Zivkovic

My favorite place on Mondays :) People are great, music is awesome the whole atmosphere is just so chill mixed with dancing and having fun! Really recommend

Waseem Malik

Terrible management at the door. Told to buy table for 300 to enter. Saw some tourists pay the doorman on the side to enter. Don’t waste your time here. There are other much better places.

Emma Goldberg

The rudest staff. We were told that based on how we were dressed we couldn’t afford to go to the rooftop so we could just go to the back bar. The drinks we got there were like a 3/10. Definitely not missing anything by skipping this.

Jeffrey Running

Drinks are priced like you'd expect, but the view of lower Manhattan is great.

takenbyalbania takenbyalbania

HEYYYYY PEOPLEEEE..... DONT GO THERE. The moooooost horrific place that i have ever been all over the world. THEY TREAT YOU LIKE A DOG. I PAID 300$ only to enter. First they told me is a private party than a girl asked me 300 usd to go inside. I paid couse i was very nervous and i saw a empty club and disgusting coctails and i paid 150 again for the drinks. DONT GO THEREEEEE

Ally Gomez

Great views, lowsy drinks and food. Extremely disappointed

Soodi Milanlouei

Worst service ever. No bag is allowed. The security told us we have to check in our bags. We went to the cloth check. One of our friends gave her backpack. I had a shopping bag with me but she said she cannot put them together and we have to pay a fee for each bag separately. Then we said we don't want to go the place then, give our bag and the money we gave you. She said I cannot give the money back! Even though we have not left the place and not used any services. We asked to talk to the manager. The lady in charge said there is no manager, I'm the boss here! We insisted for an hour to talk with manager but she refused. The security guy who was there also told us there is no manager here and she is the boss! After one hour discussion, she called the manager and put us through. I told the manager that the cloth check lady told us that she is the boss. The manager got mad about her, although the manager is she is following the rules and she cannot refund us if we left the booze after checking the bag. We said we have not left the booze at all! Then she changed her word and said actually it is not a matter of leaving the booze, if you gave the money there is no refund! So we were about to leave. Then a lady came. She starter flirting with the the security guy and the security guy didn't ask her to check in her backpack and let her through! Another example of "following" the rules! Never ever gonna go back; neither should you

DISCRIMINATION DISCRIMINATION!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER come back to this bar! I went last night with my parents, my boyfriend's aunts, mother and grandma for my boyfriend's event. They wouldn't allow any of them in because of their AGE!! They said it was because they weren't following the dress code but they were letting girls in with booty shorts and my parents, my boyfriend's family were all dressed up in heels, slacks, button downs and dress pants! They also said that we needed to buy bottle service!!We were waiting for a hour and a half to get stamped but no one would do it. Finally my family just said it was fine they didn't have to go upstairs to the bar area and left, they only would stamp my hand! I thought all of this was horrible, unprofessional and just rude!! My boyfriend's family and my family came to this event to be treated with respect and we didn't get that everyone was treating us like peasants and they were very snobby. I don't understand how this bar is still open and in business by the way they treat their customers. I was very disappointed with that and their drink prices as well. We will NEVER be going back to the Phd lounge AGAIN!

Peter Vasquez

After carefully reading all these reviews there's not one that has something positive to provide for PHD Lounge, will not be going to celebrate my girlfriend birthday. Thanks for the heads up..!!!

Chron Platters

Cool place, wonderful view and not good music

Ria Fricska

Amazing view. Crazy Saturday sunset parties are the best.

Zander White

VIP manager was very friendly and accommodating in getting my business partner and I up to the rooftop. The bartender Megan was on point with serving drinks and lots of good looking people here.

Brittany Miller

If you're looking for breathtaking views of the New York skyline, look no further. Even on a foggy night, the views were magical. We went on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday. Even on a Tuesday, the staff makes a big to-do about guest lists, being escorted up, and tables. This definitely isn't a low-key place to go hang out. Guests were dressed in hip club attire. The drinks were expensive, but the prices on food were fair. The pinot grigio available by the glass on the menu was phenomenal, as was the avocado toast, which had jalepenos and was pre cut to share. Most other sharing pieces came in threes, so for a group of four, they recommended ordering two. The music was mid-2000s hip-hop, which was a fun throwback. There's a deck open outback for two things: taking skyline pictures or smoking. The crowd poured in around midnight at which point it was time for me to go home!

winfield dominguez

Worst place I been too in NYC service sucks and the employees treat you like you are in the way. This place won't get my money ever again and I'll make sure everyone I know not to go and spend their money there!!!!

Alexandra Vidal

**GIRLS BEWARE** I went to this lounge with some of my friends and a promoter. One of the promoters 100% roofied my friend as he was serving her drinks and she became unresponsive. She could not walk or talk and had to be carried out. It was a complete nightmare situation, but the managerial and security staff were kind enough to help us out.

Ali Salman

Bad music, drinks are super expensive, Security guards are impolite. Highly not recommended

Kush Bhatti

Horrendous! Me and my girls pre-paid to go here for NYE from the UK. Queues were an hour long, clock room couldn’t hold any coats, no seating area. People are like sardines in a tin. Entry fee $200. Awful service and staff are rude. Views aren’t that great either.

Barbara Ross

Another beautiful rooftop lounge which for the winters may be a better option. It's not easy getting stamped unless you're ready to drop some serious money for a table and a few bottles. The views are beautiful with a nice dance floor, great DJ selections and a friendly staff. Being a group of about 12 people or so, we had to get the table. the table was small for the group, but who's there to sit and drink anyways. Be prepared to spend and have a fun time here...

Diane NYC

Ridiculous drink prices and service charge added. B&T Amateur hour.

Lindita Odza

I forgot the name of this bar, but just remembered recently. I regularly go to rooftops in NYC and get a table reservation with bottle service ahead of time, as the case was here. I had been here for a drink once before and decided I would try to come here for an event. If I had a reservation and was paying $600+ for my table, why would I need to wait for my other 12 friends to come? This happened to have happened on my birthday last summer and I was standing in the lobby for 25 minutes before I decided to leave and have one of my friends get us a table at Tao which ended up working out better for everyone. But the people at the front who were controlling who they let in were very rude. I told the man that I was willing to pay my $600 fee as long as I got to get in and sit at my table that I had made a RESERVATION for weeks ago and he dismissed my request and didn't acknowledge me afterwards. I'm so glad I left and will never be bringing my money/business here ever again and will literally tell everyone I know to stay away as there are literally thousands of other rooftops in NYC that I've never had a problem with like this lol. If I can sum up the staff and professionalism of this ROOFTOP BAR not ROOFTOP NIGHT CLUB it would be: RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, UNRESPONSIVE, LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ON THEIR OWN POLICY, and LONG LINES FOR NO REASON. All in all try to avoid coming here UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT OVER A HALF HOUR FOR AN UNIMPRESSIVE ROOFTOP LOUNGE.

urban cza

Deff overpriced drinks. I came here with wife after dinner, 2 drinks were almost half the price of our dinner bill. Place is cool, but not sure it's worth it. Music too low, outside area was limited to a 4x6 corner in the back.

James Crompton

Bad service, bad drinks

Victor Arcos

One of the nicest rooftop bars in NY, kind of pricey but it's worth it and if your gonna go get there early because after a certain time it gets packed, so get there before 10:30.

Ericka Buyco

Crowded on Sat afternoon for the Kentucky Derby. Lots of entertainment. More fun here if you’re drunk!

Claudia Job Pula

I thought I was rating the pizza place I went after clubbing.

Nandini Mazumdar

Always a good time - sometimes they have a high cover charge, but the music is great

ThreeGirls OneBoy

PH-D has amazing views. Get there early and enjoy nice cocktail. I went there on 7/24/15 with the Rooftop Tour and I had an wonderful time. I will definitely return when I'm in New York.

Dan Matthews

This could be the best Hip-Hop venue in Manhattan. Spectacular, open views of the NYC Skyline, extensive Scotch selection with heavy pours, and most importantly, the DJ was on point kids! Just as you'd expect tho, it's super hard to get in. There's a phalanx of suited bouncers just looking for reasons to keep you from entering the exclusive private elevator to the top, so fellas, u you gotta be dressed to impress or disarm them with gab. It's posh, it's Manhattan whadda you expect???

Tom Fox

Plastic glasses in an upscale place? So lame. Four people in the whole place and the server was bitchy. Cross this one off your list and head somewhere that understands how to deliver an experience. Or at least one that serves cocktails in a real glass.

Jenn L

View is cool but otherwise nothing special. Hotel itself seems interesting

Victoria Brancato

I whitnessed an assult that took place between the bouncers and a girl and he pushed the girl on the floor for no reason when she was acting respectful back to him. This disgusted me and I wouldn’t go back there after seeing what happened.

Sameer Malhotra

Had a blast there on a Saturday night. Drinks and music were on point.

illouz bethsabee

Outstanding view, cocktails and food are expensive but not crazy compare to the NYC average. You can enjoy the sunset while

Agustin MORENO

Sickening place. Posh, rude, waste of money.

Aziz A

I was there two nights (Wednesday) ago. The guy by the door is a jerk. I understand minimum spends and differential pricing (men vs women) but there is also differential pricing between men - not sure on what basis. Minimim charge for one male can be $x and for another it can be $y depending on his mood. He might answer a question and just walk away and ignore you waiting for a line to build up even if the place is empty. Your tab will be locked with one of the three bars they have in there and you can't use your minimum spend on another bar in the venue. The place itself is ok and nothing special. Save you money and dignity and go elsewhere. It's less of a lounge and more of small cramped bottle service place. If that's your thing then go for it.

Mildred Douglas

I've been here and to the lounge at least twice and it's always been awesome. They have themed nights so if it's not relevant I don't go. After dancing the night away, I always go over the lounge next door. Sometimes I even go there for late night grubs when I don't go to PHD Lounge for the night.

Kevin Serrano

They make you pay what ever they feel like at the door. Sometimes is not even that great of a place to be at. Just like I said. Be aware that if you come with a group of friends they will try to charge you thousands (depending on the night and how the bouncer feels like charging). Better go to other places in midtown.

Jacqueline G

It was fun, I came with a promoter and coat check employee was nice as well. They seem to care about the club. The view when you had up the lounge is absolute beautiful. The DJ played really good music for a Wednesday night but there wasn't a lot of people but it was still fun. The whole place is really great looking and there is plenty of dancing space and sit down areas as well. Would definitely recommend coming here and looking forward to coming back on a weekend with friends.

Jinah DeLucia

I wanted to have pleasant time with few of my good friends in NYC . Had a wonderful dinner at restaurant call Sushi Samba, went PHD for after Dinner drink, the people at the door was treating everyone like they were criminals... Very Rude & Dis-respectful. I was standing at the line for five minutes and left the place. "If you want to spend your money and get treated like criminals you should go to PHD" Don't Go to PHD" There are lots wonderfule places in NYC. Be smart and remember you are paying Coustomers!!!!

Sara Lucia

Nice views but the drinks are very pricey considering they aren't very nicely served.

Frank V

Terrible so I bought a ticket online and there was no mention when was the last entry to the club so I assume since it was New Years the party would end at 8am. Turns out they weren’t letting me in it was close to 3am and I spent $100 for my entry. I was furious and not to mention the club doesn’t return my calls or emails. And I complained to the hotel and nothing I don’t get no answer they just said speak to the manager of phd who seems to be nowhere to be found.

Anel Aneli

Nice rooftop with absolutely beautiful view

Søren Nielsen

Wow, what a crap hole. 500$ minimum for entrance, half empty and the worst selection of alcohol known to man. If you want to take a premium and a minimum to ensure the right guest, at least have some premium products.

Dan Romano

One star for the view down Broadway, only if you go out on the patio thou. Prices to be expected, being treated like a thief and rudeness, disappointing. They held my credit card, I guess OK, but during check out “I will give you back your credit card after you sign the receipt” she said and inspected every pen stroke while looking over my shoulder. Plenty of other over priced places, with views, in the area. The service can’t be worse elsewhere, I’ll take my chances. Not fond of only way in/out either. Oh, and plastic glasses ... $16 plastic glass of wine.

Vigan Gjuka

Best Rooftop in the City.

Avalyn Jackson

Another great nite at PH-D!! I love this rooftop. Its very sleek and sexy. And i like that you have the option of being inside or out and still get great views. The food and drinks are always good. As well as the dj's each time that I have gone.

tuncay karabulut

The place is a joke the bouncers are disrespectful think they are so tough they kept always changing the limit with the group and they decided hey we ain't letting you in anymore with no excuse of y stay away it ain't all that

Jeremy Hopkins

Nice variety of music but drinks are expensive. Be prepared to turn up on a budget!

Micaela Sol

The best!

Samantha Rae

Went to PHD last night while in town. It was free for us to get in however the guys in front of us payed $1200 for a table. Drinks were around $20 a piece but hey that’s NY. Honestly not worth the money. Went to the bathroom and some girl was puking in the sink. Not very classy.

Malina Malina

Nice view but super crowded all the time. People super drunk and crazy

Jason Mander

Great variety of music but drinks are expensive. Be prepared to turn up on a budget!

Adrian Sanchez

The only reason I'm giving it two starts is because of great views and nice bartenders. The bouncers and employees guarding the entrance were super rude even though I was a guest at the Dream hotel. Totally over rated place.

Liav Horwitz

Honestly every week I have a table there and every week I rather stay home not my crowd not my music not a beautiful roof top so I’ll pass

Warner King

I just need to understand how an order of Kettle Rocks translates to a 5 count pour for $44...double charge. Glass of wine served in a dirty plastic “glass” with what appeared to be fungus on the side. Hard pass. Enjoy, I solemnly swear to not spend another dime at PHD. And encourage others to do the same.

loreprada

Incredibly bad crowd (including guys on tank tops) obnoxious staff, almost no alcohol in drinks.. Honestly quite disappointing

Red Queen

I've never once been discriminated against based on my appearance for nightclub entry, so last night came as a huge surprise. I attempted to enter PH-D nightclub wearing an outfit similar to what I wore in my Google icon photo and was summarily dismissed. The gentleman at the door told me that I needed to remove my Maison Michel headband and my prescription eyeglasses in order to enter the club (without my glasses, then I wouldn't have been able to see). I didn't realize that being nearsighted could be a discriminating factor -- it was and apparently is at PH-D. I assume of course, that the doorman was sincere in his requests and that those were the reasons for my denial. I suppose that was much easier than flat out denying me because I'm black.

Jason Mills

Despicable service. A place where bribery is the only way to get good service.

Зоя Павлицки Павлицки

Beautiful view and wonderful evening with lounge music

Rahul Sood

A very average place with over the top prices. Also gets crowded. Does attract some slick crowd on weekends.

I CAN NOT FIND A SINGLE WORD THAT JUSTIFIES THE LEVEL OF SERVICE YOU PROVIDE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. I would not recommend going here at all.The GIRL at the FRONT DESK were vey RUDE and asked me for money, i asked her why i have to paid couse it was no written and she told me:”OK JUST GO” I was paying and i saw other people going inside without paying nothing. THE RUDE GIRL TOLD ME FOR THE SECOND TIME: “I AM NOT HERE TO EXPLAIN YOU” . DONT WAIST YOUR TIME, DONT VISIT THIS PHD. DISAPOINTED AND DISGUSTING COCTAILS

I was passing by and I saw some people going in this hotel . I asked the security on the door were is line there was a rude like arabic guy in the entrance he said that I was not going in . I was showing my Id the let me pass tru the line when I got to the elevator the security told I was not permited tl go up since I do not have a stamp. I went to this unrespectful guy again I asked him I m going up or not ? He said very rude NO! Plus the people that I saw going to the rooftop look like prostitu.

Front desk host on Monday night was very rude . My friend just asked which way do we go after paying and she snapped and said "I already said it twice ! The hostess is going to take you guys" and he told her "okay I'm just asking, relax" and she said "I am relaxed" and he just said "you know what, give me my ID and money back" and the front guy (promoter or manager) only said "sorry " as we left. He should have asked what the problem was and how he could fix it or address that ladies attitude. You don't even know what kind of customers you just lost.

Sarah Smith

awful. Visiting Nyc from Montana with a couple of girlfriends and we were very excited to attend phd. The bouncer would not let us in because he said our ids were not real. I would assume they are not familiar with Montana IDs in New York. Very disappointed. As a 26 year old I have never once experienced this in the many places I have traveled.

Been here several times before; while staying at the dream hotel for the week. Usually I would get stamped for free to go upstairs to the rooftop lounge by a lovely tall lady -- because I am spending thousands of dollars here at this hotel. This time, the new guy at the door, wanted me and my co-workers to open up $150 drink tab each -- on a freakin Tuesday! Most of us don't drink. And according to the older doormen and the hotel desk staff, this new bouncer was just being difficult to us because he was new. My company is literally spending tens of thousands of dollars for us to stay here; and this is how we are treated? Will definitely consider booking at a different hotel during my next stay. This was one of the main reasons why my company booked this hotel in the first place...

I went to the rooftop for a friend's birthday. Very nice place, upscale, however, VERY expensive. A mojito was 21$, a female bartender served me, she was very polite, I tipped her. Then I ordered a Cosmopolitan from a different male bartender, it was 25$. Basically 50$ for two small cocktails. I did not tip the male bartender because as he was making my drink, I noticed he was very impatient with me and completely rushed my drink. When I didn't tip him, he threw the receipt back at me and told me to correct the tip amount as if it were an obligation. I immediately handed it back to him and told him there was nothing to correct. He SNATCHED it from my hand and yelled at me, said "Thanks for nothing!" So rude! Otherwise my experience was good, very nice view, I see other reviews saying they had to pay so expensive to get in, but I didn't have to pay admission fee at all! Weird.

GIULIANA MARZULLO

Amazing place! I went there alone ,they immediately let me in, view is amazing, people is nice, no tourists, music is good and prices are ok for a place like that.I did not pay anything at the entrance even if,a guy, told me he had to pay 150 dollars. Average age is 25-45.Average cocktail price is 20 dollars.

The skyline is definitely the draw of this high energy club/lounge. The crowd is semi-mixed, mostly Asian/White, as well as men outfitted in their best to impress and women who look like they all work in fashion. It's not your everyday club/lounge but it's nice to go once just to check it out. Strict door policy.

Wesley-Neal Stallings

Very confusing and dysfunctional to get in. Bottle service girl was nice but demanding. PHD fraudulently charged my credit card 3 times. Getting ahold of management has been a nightmare and yet to be resolved. Everything also smells like old throw up and stale beer.

Katherine Meng

Good roof top view and terrace. Decent music. I like some of the hotel's interior decor. Compared to other Meatpacking club options, this is not bad at all.

Lauren Dunbar

SCAM SCAM SCAM purchased tickets for an event and was denied by security because he first said we were acting “irate” and then said our real IDs were fake. Get this- they were all NYC and NJ IDs- not like we were even from some random far away state. Didn’t scan them or try to verify them using a credit card or anything. We requested to speak to a manger to which they refused us and threatened that “we better leave the property or else.” Then when we tried to get a refund through the ticket website which they told us to do the ticket website reached out to PHD and the refund was denied because PHD claimed we couldn’t show proper IDs. Having a bouncer with a horrible attitude that cannot tell a real ID from a fake one is a real problem and this club should not be allowed to operate like this and scam people out of their money. If I could give negative stars I would, will never be coming here again!

Brian B

Lady at the front door was the rudest person I ever met. And she kept switching the prices. Never coming back here again

Scott Toebe

Waited in an extremely unorganized line for 20 minutes just to be told by the bouncer that there was a $100 minimum. Just wanted to grab a drink and check out the space. Don’t waste your time here. Check out St. Cloud rooftop bar instead.

Nate Ouellette

Sadly, this place is located next to Tao where the chances of getting in are even lower! Waited in line for 30 minutes with minimal movement, not even a bribe to the bouncer would jump us spots. Once inside we were told we needed to drop $350 on credit to secure us a spot inside, no information was given until we were inside the building. Don't bother waiting in line unless you have cash to drop, disorganized mess.

Lucie Cieślarová

Good music and vibe. Great views over the city at night.

Jubin Edachery

We got free access and drink coupons to the lounge while staying at the Dream. This is a happening party place - loud music (the DJ played some old school hip hop, which was good), wild crowds and good drinks. The lounge has a small outdoor balcony with sofas - gets crowded usually, but the views of the city were super from there.

deran M

This is overrated there are lot of other cool places around it

The best of the best, talk to My Host Jack

Isis Obeng .

Beautiful views!!! Instagram worthy pics of New York skyline. Nice place to take your friends. Black people friendly, jeans on women (friend wore snug jeans paired nicely with a cute top) allowed. Did not try drinks, cannot comment. Only flaw was that music was not up to date! Why is “shake that laffy taffy” playing on a Friday night? Can we get the top 40 in here? Otherwise decent place

I've been going to PHD rooftop parties for over 7 years. Pros: Doorman happens to be a genuine guy. Is not out to rip you off. Some bartenders are very friendly. Cons: Service, staff, security, crowd, management. We leave bagatelle and go to PHD for their party 5 guys 5 girls. We have no problem paying a min that we agreed to of 2800. The bottle girl brings 1 redbull, barely any mixers, and then the bus boy takes over. The bottle girl actually spent 20 seconds at our table. The bus boy complains the entire time, security is hassling and singling out our group. "Hey don't stand here" All these don't do this and threats. Just not a fun environment. Bus boy keeps harassing me about the condition of the floor, when the other table is clearly dropping their glasses and not us. Now i'm no longer having fun. I'm frustrated and I want to leave. If you went to michelin star restaurant and got mcdonalds and slow service would you be upset? I kindly ask the manager if we could include the tax and tip into our minimum as we did not come close to agreed upon price. We spent maybe 1500. We got charged 3400. They walked away 120% of our bill in free cash. Why would PHD legit steal that cash? Does a money making machine like PHD really need that cash? Are they starved so much that will stoop to ripping their customers off? I was very intoxicated when I singed everything as I couldn't even sign my name in a straight line. They took advantage of us. Walked away with free cash. Gave us a hard time about it. Just utterly disgusting. Will never go back. I advise you to do the same. There are numerous other parties that are more fun, have hotter girls, better service, and nice security guys. This party sits in stark contrast to what it used to be. It has become a haven for bridge and tunnel crowds. Stay away!

Awesome view of the city and empire state building. Elevator takes you up, and you enter some tables and lounge couches for your group to sit in. Depending on the night, it can get crowded with pretentious lounge goers standing around people watching. Almost every night I come here, it felt like I was at a school dance, groups of people sticking only to each other, and a tiny dance area in front of the elevated DJ booth, and everyone else just sticks to the side. Can't really blame people for this, the way it's designed and where the tables and couches are located, it hard to really network with people. Space is tight and you have to literally jump around people to get through. Bathroom is tiny but attendant is super cool, keeps saying thank you for coming, you look good, he keep saying all these compliments.. I'm sure it's what he gets paid to do, but it got a little too creepy they way he said it....but he was saying it to everyone taking a leak. There's cologne if you need to respray yourself in the bathroom. Good place to come with groups though, if you're single and ready to mingle, you might have better luck elsewhere.

I would give them a 0 if it were possible. My friend and I were going to meet a couple of friends there at the roof top and the "door man" or "bouncer" (whoever decides who gets on or not) told us that we couldn't get in because it was only "guest list and tables tonight" We stayed in the hotel to wait for our friends and let them know. However next time we heard from them they got stamped and were able to go in. I went back to this bald headed, chubby white bouncer in a striped shirt asking him why he let our friends in but not us he had the audacity to blatantly ignore me and act as if I wasn't talking to him, while I was literally in front of him. After he kept ignoring me I politely told him to F off and left... Weird thing is they let me in a couple of days ago.

Jeffrey Masuka

The place is great, wonderful spot to enjoy the view of New York. As for the service, I might say that it needs a lot of work. Went there for my brother's birthday, and was basically request to order a thousands dollar bottle to only find out that we had an extra 300$ to pay. After giving them 4 different credits cards, the manager comes to us and says that our cards are declined and didn't know what game we're playing... (After a moment of rudeness) We're able to withdraw cash from their ATM to pay off this added amount, just to find out that all our credit cards had been charged for the same amount ( and for some 3 same charges)

Kit Sathong

This facility should be added to a list of NYC scams to avoid.

Dan Markwat

Gorgeous view of the city. Drinks were at an expected price and they were delicious. Wasn't too crazy for a Wednesday night - just the right amount of people for a late night with coworkers.

Nicki White

One of the worst clubs I have been to. Extremely rude staff, terrible dance floor set up (basically none) and the DJ was awful.

Danish Gilmer

So excited when I saw Wyclef Jean playing his guitar. And the venue is amazing! I think I want to go back for my birthday party!

Kemal Polat

Disappointing place and overpriced. Very bad management

Brooke Purcell

Pretty cool place and you can't beat the view. The atmosphere was awesome. The only disappointment was our bottle service girl. She was not attentive what so ever and we ended up having to make our own drinks the entire night.... gratuity was already included... other than that I loved the music and we danced the night away.

Andrianna Popowych

The view and the atmosphere are nice. I celebrated my birthday there and was quite satisfied. The only thing is that we were a group of 6 and me and my partner had to pay $150 to get in which went towards the bar but we didn't end up using all the money up for the drinks which was kind of a waste.

M Kelada

This is the most shittiest place that i have ever gone to you have to spend over $500 you and your guests just enjoy time without food. the staff shittier If you do any wrong for example lean on the table the staff will come up to u and let you know U have to pay to put Your coats away and it’s mandatory $5 per Item. Please don’t waste your money.

Martina Vidal

So disrespectful. Wanted me and my friend to pay 150 to get in. Made us feel really uncomfortable. Not good place

Thomas R

One of the better rooftop bars in meatpacking. Get there early to avoid what all the other reviews mentioned about lines, coat service etc. Views are great and they make some decent cocktails. Price is up there.

Dowi mc gaw

Ok i was one guy and if you're not with at least 2 girls they'll force you to spend a minimum of $100 per person which is stupid if you're 2 men and a girl for example. But I did it alone, so the drinks are expensive about $17 for vodka/jack something but I don't get how you can spend $100 without getting completely wasted. Then the music is alright, nothing to complain really. The crowd is okay (was on a Thursday), the view is great although not amazing I've seen better. The terrace is not that large and you're often stuck there. The security guys are nice although they think their bar is like a nuclear site to protect or something and it feels a bit ridiculous. Overall, the place isn't that big either, i mean i would go for $50 minimum spend but not $100. So if you're with many girls, it's a good place to have 1-2 drinks for about an hour max. Otherwise, it's a waste of money/alcohol.

Lance Goss

The bar was nice but the coat check was ridiculous. When I say it was ridiculous...it was ridiculous. They didn't give us the same number of tickets as the jackets and then had the audacity to say they did. This was followed up by showing another jacket that wasn't mine and insisting after they found my jacket that it was the original jacket shown. They never would say sorry...it was just constant arguing about it was the first jacket shown. The manager was a joke and I would rate him rude at best...complete and utter jerks. My friend lost her cardigan the same night and all he would say was they are not responsible for the jacket inside of a jacket...chances are the chunky guy that was so rude is running NYC in a women's Calvin cline horizontal cardigan looking like a hot mess. Club was crowded and cool but won't go back unless jacket free.

Marilou Lelann

Great Music an fun place but be ready to spend money... Door men decide if you get in or not an what is the price

JC Adriana

While staying at the Dream Hotel, we got to skip the line and no cover charge. It was a blast ! Amazing views, the vibe was cool, we met awesome people, we danced and danced. So much fun. It was a night to remember.... or mostly remember!

KIM HAMILTON

My boyfriend and I had a fabulous night at Tao to continue on to have drinks at PH-D to be greeted by rude door staff !!!.. To then he told $200 min spend if not just have a drink at the lobby bar!!.., this wasn't what we wanted and after a long cab ride to PhD , got another cab home as totally put a downer on our night wasted $40!!... I'm from the uk visiting and will never visit this place again !!... Was looking forward to a good night !! U.K. Culture yes we book tables etc however your still welcome to just a few drinks ! I just didn't want to have to spend $200 on demand!!! Rude bad attitude door staff don't do places justice or make them more appealing!!

Chill and laid back spot for hanging out with friends/coworkers. Amazing view. Wouldn't recommend food. Drinks are over-priced but that's expected since this is a rooftop lounge in Manhattan.
