Reviews of Cavali New York (Night Club)

This review is based on 2 separate visits that I made to the establishment - wanted to give them a fair chance. First off, they don't have a working kitchen for 6 months - so no steaks. On our first visit, we walked in on a Saturday night, which was advertised as a Latin night. The cover was fair & the front door staff was kind of typical, meat head type security with no personality or smile, followed by an improperly dressed door guy. When we walked in, we were all amazed how big & beautiful the establishment was (and I mean, Holy smokes!). This place would give some Manhattan establishments a run for their money. Unfortunately, the place wasn’t filled at all – 30 people at best. We all grabbed a drink & a seat in a lovely alcove area they have right next to the bar that overlooks the dance floor. We were there for about 3 hours waiting for the DJ to play something besides Latin music & it never happened. What a disappointment! My friends & I can’t figure out how another Latin dance club chose to open its doors in such a culturally diverse neighborhood – ALREADY FILLED WITH LATIN CLUBS! We get the Latin themed night, but come on, you’re in NYC. Don’t get me wrong, my friends & I can get down to pretty much anything we listen to, but seriously, not even a single pop track or maybe some Biggie? We were told by one of the managers (I think) that we would hear some different music next time ….wow! We all knew it was Latin night, but we thought it would be a more diverse & adult crowd – DISAPPOINTED AGAIN. It was a bunch of 21 y/o kids who didn’t dress or act like they were in a nice establishment. The DJ they had working was a total clown. I guess he couldn’t figure out how to use the equipment, so he kept talking on the mic about senseless & completely irrelevant things until he figured out the equipment issue for about 10 long minutes. If that wasn’t bad enough, he gets off the DJ booth area & then walks around the empty dancefloor with a WWE WrestleMania Kids Belt over his shoulder wearing sunglasses, while another guy videotaped him. I had some friends visiting this past Saturday, so we decided to give Cavali another shot. The room was pretty filled this time, but it was the same deal … all Latin, young kids & not a single non-latin song played again. The security for the establishment were shaking down guests on line for $20 because they had sneakers on - seriously. The only difference this time was we paid $45 a person to come in & there was a performance by some Latin performer. What we found strange, was a poorly dressed staff member with a red hat let the people in behind us & didn’t even charge them because they bought bottles - we all felt cheated. We made reservations & purchased bottles, but we had to pay the $45 cover at the door & we had to wait over an hour to be seated & another 30 min to get our bottles. We spent at least $1K between bottles, cover & the bar. Bottle svce girl just threw our bottles on the table & left. The performer was entertaining, although we didn’t understand anything the artist was singing, but hey it’s all about the vibe! The owners here have a beautiful, sophisticated & sexy looking venue that’s a hidden gem in Astoria. I hope they walk around the neighborhood & realize that they have vast American, European & Eastern-European, Asian etc. neighbors who would have this place jumping on the weekends. We all are praying that they don’t follow the same path as other establishments in the neighborhood & go completely urban. Clearly, whomever the owners have running the show are the same guys that must be running the existing spots near Steinway that all "US" trendy & sophisticated Astorian’s walk by every weekend on their way into the city to patronize a real New York City nightclub & spend their city paychecks. There is a LED-neon sign in the rear of the club that says “all roads end at Cavali”. My advice to anyone that is looking for a diverse, trendy, adult nightspot, make sure when you’re walking down that “road” going to Cavali, you hop in an Uber & head elsewhere … for now : (

Omgggg... this place is a disaster and very unorganized... no one seemed to know what was going on... We had left a deposit for a table and were sent a picture of where we were goin to be seated. Once we were seated we were moved because apparently those specific seats were for people who were going to pay more... they moved us to another table to then later on come back again to tell us the same thing... why would someone tell us one thing and then have someone else come back to tell us something completely different... so much lack of communication which was really annoying... besides that whole mess that took almost an hour there wasn’t even a variety of music... I‘m pretty sure I heard the same songs more than 3 times... such a disappointing place...

I was at their grand opening with Sean Paul and flex. It's a beautifully designed upscale venue. Great staff very clean bathrooms. Friendly bartenders and reasonably priced drinks. On of the best lounges in queens period. I will definitely go back.

(Translated by Google) OMG a disaster Very badly organized, the manager had told me that he would get a table with the sofas until he sent me a photo where he would feel me, and when we arrived at the place they did not know where to sit the manager said one thing and the hostess something else ... we lasted about 1 hour to decide where to sit and in the end we stood, and the DJ just the same kind of pure song perreo all night freaking does not change at all and that bores .. I do not recommend it at all and I put a star because I do not I can give them a ZERO. (Original) OMG un desastre Muy mal organizados, el manager me habia dicho que obtendría una mesa con los sofás hasta foto me envió donde me sentiría, y cuando llegamos al lugar no sabían donde sentarnos el manager decía una cosa y la hostess otra cosa...duramos como 1 hora para que decidieran donde sentarnos y al final quedamos parados, y el DJ solo el mismo tipo de canción puro perreo toda la freaking noche no varía para nada y eso aburre.. no lo recomiendo para nada y les pongo una estrella porque no puedo ponerles un CERO.

It was the worst lounge I've ever been to. 1. I had a bottle of water in my hand and the bouncer snatched it out my hand and threw it out in the middle of the street 2. They claimed they couldn't find our $200 deposit and it took them 1.5 hours to finally figure it out and seat us 3. After paying for $635 of bottle service it took almost 2 hours to get our liquor bottle . I will never come back here ever again and neither should anyone else.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I do not recommend this place at all... the service is so unorganized! Made a deposit for to reserve a table and the manager sent a picture of where my table would be. When I arrived, my table was changed 4 times because nobody knew what table to place me in.. after 4 table changes and three different bottle girls the table I got was not the table I was promised by the manager and got a very horrible table. Dj has no variation of music, only played reggaeton/hip hop all night.. heard the same mix atleast 4 times ! Manager and hostess are a disaster they do not know how to organize an event and have verbal discussions infront of clients.. do not even bother going here, go somewhere else with better service!!

TERRIBLEEEEEEE. Very unorganized. Took them a hour to find my friends and I a table after bouncing us from table to table. It took 3 different bottle girls to finally get our bottles. The DJ was terrible as well. Kept repeating the same music over and over again. also, my pants broke and my phone screen cracked, so don’t go here if you really like your pants and your phone

Beautiful club, it's brand new so everything is polished, cleanest bathrooms on the block, the dj was lit. The bouncers are very patient with people on line, their main objective is to get you in so as long as you are calm you will get in. I would definitely go again especially for Latin night!

Horrible customer service. Worse security. Girls give attitude and they never check on their tables. Ghetto establishment, my friend got jumped. Disgusting never going back.
