I am tempted to complain to the better business bureau about this place. The waiters in the evening tip themselves more if you pay with a card. I noticed the change in my account two days after going to boxcar. I hear its a common practice among the staff. After the last time being there, I noticed the total amount was higher than what I had left including tip. I'm not the only one who has noticed this issue, I don't intend on returning to this place. The service is not great and I don't trust using my card here enough to return. I know this is not a policy at Boxcar, the problem is in the fact that the waiting staff would tamper and write in higher tip amounts. That's unethical and if it's happened to more than one person it's a pattern that needs to be addressed immediately.

One of the bartenders was incredibly rude when I asked for an order to go. He walked away when I asked for something specifically from the menu. He became frustrated with me when he didn’t know what flavor I wanted from the menu so I read it to him from the menu and he still got it wrong. I’m not even from town and I know that’s not how you treat people. They also will say they have dj night and have a band playing all night so you end up paying $6 to listen to a band you didn’t wanna listen to. Don't go it’s a waste of money

Cool spot right by Santa Fe's Railyard- good food- cool staff- big menu- lots of beer choices- I had a Tiki type of slushie-it wasnt very good- I enjoyed playing music there- nice stage- awesome sound guy- people were dancing- great energy in the neighborhood- I cant wait to play their again-

I was in town for a Marine Corps friend's funeral. So, I didn't know anything from nothing. A buddy and I asked around for places to eat and they recommended the Boxcar. We were not disappointed! The food was really good and the portions were awesome for the price. I felt I got real value with my order and what I paid. The waiter (for the two days we were in town) was great! He was personable and really attentive. What was really great, when they knew why we were in town, they let us talk and spend time with friends without being rushed to open the table. We truly appreciated their empathy and consideration! Highly recommended and you'll enjoy it!

Went here first with a couple of friends. I cell in love with the fact that they have Guiness on tap. The next time i went here was because someone from staff (Hannah) was going back to LA and for some reason we went here (someone suggested it?) It was a Thursday night. Crew from several departments showed up. We had a blast! The DJ played Salsa and other latin music. Most of the female staff got on the dance and we had an absolute blast!

Boxcar is my favorite watering hole in Santa Fe. I would say getting the burger with the onion ring and jalapeno popper was the best thing I've had on the menu. Absolutely incredible food And you can get some scotch with it. Super great place to go watch games. Be prepared to pay twenty to thirty if you get a beer and food though.

I used to love this place. Last time I was here, I went to the bar for one beer. It was moderately busy. The bartender intentionally ignored me for 15 minutes or more until I was loud enough to be fortunate to have his service. At the end of the bar, there were a group of 20 something year old guys raging with testosterone. I was in no mood for a pissing contest. I had half of my pint and left a paltry tip. I have not returned since and Boxcar was a frequent stop off for me. The time I went previous to that was not great either. I had the same experience with the same bartender ignoring me qnd hoping that I would walk out. When I paid after one beer, he apologized for ignoring me. Don't apologize and then continue the behavior. I am an upper middle class, well groomed, well educated 45 year old man. The previous bartenders were great. I don't care for games and attitude. I'm gonna miss the jalapeno calamari and the music selection.

This may be my favorite sports bar ever, and I'm not young. We're visiting from out of state and have been here twice. Very competent and friendly staff, great food, generous servings for good prices. Good TVs with several different sports going, and they'll change the station to another sport for you. Other patrons at the bar were friendly, too.

Boxcar has a great selection of beer, plenty of TVs to watch pretty much any televised sporting event available, and a great menu with very reasonable prices. I suggest their Sunday brunch--great deals on Mimosas and Bloody Mary's, and a delicious menu including some of the best biscuits & gravy around

I have been to Boxcar many times and usually I have wonderful service but it only takes one time to ruin how you feel about a place. Everything I ordered came out wrong. First my p.o. boy comes out with the wrong side and then after I take a bite I realize my p.o. boy is shrimp when I ordered fish. Then the green chili mac and cheese I ordered as my side comes out but it has no green chili. The manager takes my boyfriend's food off the bill but not mine (I assume because his meal was cheaper.) Long story short the manager was so rude, the service was awful and we still spent 40 dollars. Go to second street instead of this place.

Great tequila shots, a karaoke bar where the truly gift-less can sing as well:) without fear of judgement and ridicule. Good fun and careful service. They wouldn't serve our table drinks because they feared We had had too many! Now that's called a compassionate pub.

We went there times in a week. It is one of a small number of places open past 10pm that serves food. The food was great as were the drinks. I'm only leaving off a star because the sports bar didn't play a lot of sports. They had sports on one of the three nights we were there.

Boxcar is a really nice place to eat, like most places in Santa Fe. My main concern was with the burger. I did request medium rare, however, the outside of the burger was charred while the inside was still VERY pink. While the burger was good, I have a feeling eating this was not the safest.

Great local spot. The hosts, servers, & bartenders are always friendly & welcoming. It may just be because I'm always there... but service is fast and attentive whether it's at the bar or at a table. The bartenders always whip up some tasty drinks for my friends and I. Thank you by the way! I only gave 4 stars because the last couple times I've gone, my food has been cold; fries were soggy. My bottom bun was drenched, guys just rest the burger a bit longer, ya? Yes I've gotta be the one to say it, but no one likes soggy buns.

It was okay, nothing to really brag about, in my opinion. I had a couple beers and an appetizer (which I didn't even finish). It was something breaded and fried - avocado and peppers I believe. It wasn't bad at all, just wasn't great. And then at some point, the bar opted to turn some of the television screens from sports to a strange psychedelic YouTube channel. That was the point that I decided I would rather watch ESPN in my hotel room instead.

Food was okay. I ordered a morning chicken and waffles at lunch time. The waffles were soggy and the chicken was dry. The only plus is the country gravy on top. Coffee was decent. Place is good for night time parties and sports, but if your just wanting lunch... go somewhere else!

As far as I can tell this is the best sports bar in Santa Fe. Lots of good TVs. Big bar. Good menu. I had a nice day enjoying football games, friendly bar-mates rooting for their teams, and great service at the bar. I watched beautiful brunch dishes being served all around me. My green chile plate was not beautiful (below) but it was pretty good. The fish taco (also pictured below) that I had a couple hours later was loaded and a steal for $4. I think they could up the flavor all around so the dishes taste as good as they look. But that's a quibble. I will definitely be back.

We ate at Boxcar tonight because I had read that they have gluten free options. Boxcar is the most GLUTEN FRIENDLY restaurant I have ever found. They have the only dedicated GF fryer in Santa Fe and both managers and two servers stopped by our table to tell me I was in safe hands. Their GF bun was really good, my burger was perfect, and they even made my crispy onion strings and onion rings using GF batter in the dedicated fryer. Sylvia, our waitress, was the best! My husband said his Buffalo chicken sandwich was delicious. And they even had the Big 10 Network on in Santa Fe! The crowd was lively and fun, the service was awesome, and the food was exceptional. Best of all (and everything was great), I didn't have to worry about cross-contamination of my meal in the kitchen.

Conveniently located nearby the RailRunner train station, it was also a short walk from The Blue Bus returning from Ski Santa Fe. The fish was delicious and the jalapeno tartar sauce added a good kick and was a nice finish to the day.

This is one of our must-it's when in or going thru Santa Fe! Super friendly, DELICIOUS!!, quick (if needed), and always goes above and beyond to make my family's (6, 4 kids 12 to 2 years old) extra special! Pool is $6 an hour. Shakes (for kids and "adult" version) are all A-MAZING! They always happily accommodate my kids' crazy food substitution requests, happily, and have tons of gluten-free and lean and green options.

Came for the Women's world cup game versus Sweden, stayed for the food and drinks. Place was full of fans and with 12 screens and the sound able to enjoy the entire game from any angle. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Parking was free/included.

We've been here twice - once last year and once today. Each time they manage to screw up our order in a big way. This time, I ordered a burger with the egg well done because I’m pregnant and not supposed to eat undercooked egg. I asked for the egg on the side. Burger came out with the egg on top, runny and already all over the burger. Server was friendly but not timely or substantively helpful. After waiting 20 minutes, we ended up having to just canceling that burger and having it taken off our bill because the replacement took forever and we had kids with us so we couldn't just keep waiting, plus everyone had finished eating and the replacement food was still not up 20 minutes later. It not like we were a giant party - 4 adults and 2 kids. And I got food poisoning from the appetizers I did manage to eat. Will not come back.

Amazing! Great food, great service from Candice (: Food was good, great beer selection and it's really cool they have a dedicated fryer for gluten free foods. They are locally sourced for beef and they buy their vegetables from the farmers market, which is awesome. Love their decor and ambiance is also awesome. Will definitely be returning!

I've only been here one time was with a co-worker of mine took me my wife and his girlfriend on a Friday night so it was obviously pretty packed when we showed up but we came in to eat and have a beer he got the the hot wings which smelled delicious when they came out my wife got a burger which looked delicious again I got the boxcar nachos and they were delicious absolutely yummy plenty of ingredients on them everything was smothered price was decent but again I've only been once as I try to avoid that part of town because people drive like maniacs thank you for sitting through my raving rant
