I'm a local and was hoping for a good restaurant that didn't require braving the weekend traffic in North Conway. The building and space are beautiful. But it took over half an hour to get water after we sat down, and we had to get up and ask for a waiter to just get that- people seated after us were getting served before us. The place is really loud inside making conversation difficult. We didn't come for the music, we came to visit with family. The piano player was great, but we were seated in a spot where the loud piano music and loud conversation converged, making it difficult to hear each other without shouting. The salads were OK, small and lettuce not crisp but the dressing was good. Food took a long time to come out, presentation was poor. Too much horseradish on the fish overpowering the flavor, and mashed potatoes were too heavily salted. Steak tips were cooked perfect medium rare, best part of the meal. Given the beauty of the building, and the potential of the food, it could easily have earned 5 stars with better service, less heavy handed seasoning, and some building interior adjustments that would mute the overwhelming sound reverberations - which were probably made worse by where we were seated. Place has great potential with a bit of vision, but it will not be my go-to place as a local- check out Snow Village Inn if interested in very quality, locally-grown food, with nice ambiance and low background noise.

Haven't been here in a couple of years and I must say it wasn't as good as the last time. Back then I would have given them a 5 star rating but today it's barely a 3. The service wasn't good, my family and I felt very rushed. The waiter took my plate before I was finished then gave my daughter a to go box while she was still eating. The food was good but no way as good as it was before. The beer selection was weak at best. For a restaurant that claims to be a brewery, I find it strange that they had only 4 on site brews available. Not to mention they had more large brewery beers available? No on site porters, stouts, ambers or esp just to name a few. I'll give it another try when we are back in Ossippee but if it's not improved it will be our last time here.

Went in. Sat down at the bar. Chose a drink. Ordered said drink. Got asked for ID. Being a british tourist I was carrying only my drivers licence (had been enough for every other restaurant to get served). Drivers licence got passed around entire bar. Turn out we need passports to order drinks and got told we couldn't be served. Got up and left.

This popped up. I was here last year. They make their own beers and have a variety and selection that's not just seasonal but selective. The bartenders are very helpful in explaining the brews. One other time, I sat in the upstairs bar. I've only tried the chicken mac and cheese. There's comfort food and impressive dishes too. I haven't ventured into their menu other than burgers and chicken mac but I sense there is fine dining potential here. Don't know if the music is every night but it was each time I was here.

Jo Ann Beltre

Awesome place for fellow glutards! They even have GF battered seafood. Service is friendly but can be slow so don't go in a rush. Food is excellent.

Caitlin Foucher

Definitely make reservations!! The fair is fantastic especially the cheese curds. Though the children's pasta with cheese sauce is GROSS! They make it with smoked Gouda, which I've never known a child to enjoy. For the most part all of the waitresses are pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu and make good, honest suggestions. I haven't had the house brews, though, everyone in my party enjoyed them immensely! We only come up to the area yearly but it's a not-to-be-missed stop!

Alex Pumilia

Great food and in house brewed beers. Food can be a little pricey but it's delicious!

Bob Shaw

Brought a party of 10 to the reasturant for a Sunday am brunch 7/14/19. We were there for the 10am open as their web site indicates. Left at 10:20 as the doors were still locked and no one answering the phone. No sign...nothing.

Bufatutu Agonistes

We were coming up from southern NH and noticed the tavern for the first time. It being lunch time and microbrews being favorite places, we stopped in. I'd give the beer and the food three or four stars, but the TV was on Fox News with Trump blubbering on. Beyond Trump, we don't want to watch political news while trying to enjoy our dinner. When we asked the bartender to change the channel, we were instantly told that as soon as we left, the channel would go right back to Fox. Bad vibes followed. They seem to love Trump more than they were interested in our business. We won't go back there.

Mikeoloco

Ok ya the atmosphere is great and all but if your a French fry guy oh man. Those were the best French fries I’ve ever had in my life no exaggeration. It is definitely worth the extra price to get fries instead of chips. Get a side of fries u won’t regret it.

Marian Steimke

Loved the space. Food and service excellent

Eclipse Trophy

Impressive renovation! Last visited several years ago when it was Whittier House. Completely redone with beautiful design and style, even the cutlery and bathrooms. Food was tasty and service efficient and pleasant. Beer is outstanding. A MUST STOP on Route 16

Cardel Forbes

Great place to hang out and even better beers

kate

Great food and service. Drinks weren't bad, but also not the best we've had. Would definately recommend to a friend.

Excellent

Paul Deane

The food may be expensive but i haven't tasted many that are as poor. However, it is a brewery and I can't say what the beer is like. My wife says the beer is very good.

Barbee & Hayden

Great service!! Great food! No shortage of alcohol in their drinks ;) Nice atmosphere. A bit on the high side but good portions..My son liked the bathrooms...he said the sink looked like a pool! It could use more comfortable chairs. .but overall I'd recommend this place!

Ian Macdonald

Great beer

Dave Rice

Great place for a quick lunch

Reesa Guerra

Used to be good (I liked the breakfast buffet hard boiled eggs with salmon) but the food lately has been NASTY! What's going on?! I had a watery omelette with hard gross vegetables and home fries that tasted like dirt. Coffees cream was expired both visits. Second visit there was enormous hunks of fat in the homemade hash. I accidentally ate three pieces of fat! It's a shame because the hash could've been good. We made a complaint this time and the waitress took it too personal. She eventually did the right thing, but gave us attitude and didn't want to look at the hunks of fat. The decor is nice and I had a good GF burger many months ago, but whatever they are doing different isn't working.

Anthony Mahar

Great brunch! Corned Beef Hash was deliciously rustic (nice lumps of juicy potatoes and corned beef). Pancakes great fluffy middle and slight crispy exterior). Sooo good.

Calvin Montague

Food really is subpar. Calamari is very dry, bland; and no reason to load it up with salt after the fact. Fra diavolo was just embarrassing; not even a sauce; it was for all intents and purposes, a broth. Took a long time to be greeted once we were sat, even though there were empty tables on a Saturday night. Yet then we get shoved into a small table sandwiched close to two different foursomes. Food runners and people at host stand just seemed very cold on the way out, not willing to ask if we had everything we needed when we got our food, etc... I was hoping; after a long day trip to Story Land we could alas find a gem of a dining spot between the seacoast and mountains without having to venture into the sheer hell of dealing with the downtown N. Conway riff-raff. But this place is mired with issues every bit as the few other other tourist traps on Rt 16 in the Ossippee vicinity.

Matthew Kelly

Really good food and beer. Their salads and particularity well done. Thai curry was creative and tasty. Neat wood aesthetic.

Kris Erickson

Good times!

Casey Finch

Wow! This place is awesome. Locally owned and operated. Great local brews with solid eats. Right off 16 so great stop on the way between the mountains and points south. Great place to hit up after a hike on Mount Chocorua.

Whitney Dudzik

Good food and beer. Slightly limited menu. Friendly staff and I really liked the place itself. Looked a little fancy but also very comfortable. I had the English Pea Ravioli and while the texture with the herbs was a little off the flavor was great!

Debbie Stover

Beer great, food not so much and they don't give you a whole lot for the

Alyssa Passanisi

I am a local in the area, who has given Hobbs multiple chances. I also have worked / run operations in the restaurant industry. Let me start off by saying that nothing about this place is quick, you are their for at least a hour + even if your their for an appetizer & cocktail . My first few experiences were nothing to rave about; mediocre - poor customer service and okay food that was extremely overpriced. My last visit was my FINAL straw. My husband and I went in to get LUNCH & what a mistake it was. We were seated immediately, however no one came to even offer a drink of water for over 15 mins. As soon as a server came we ordered our drinks to be proactive as the tone was already set. It took another 15 mins for our drinks and water to make it to our table. My cocktail (a margarita) was made incorrectly x2. We placed our food order and we were optimistically hoping for our experience to turn around. The food took over 30 mins keep in mind I ordered a salad if that's what you want to call it. It was more like a half a head of lettuce three pieces of cucumber, two tomatoes, a z of dressing and two pieces of chicken. This salad was over $17 !!!!!!!!! My husband got the lunch steak tips and fires. He was given three of the smallest, most burnt tips I have ever seen and about 15 french fries. In the end, two lunch dishes and two cocktails came to over $100.00; truly sickening. I was so upset by this that I complained and did not even get a response. The lack of management/ownership is despicable. Any time I went you saw no management table touching or even the servers. The owner clearly has set the tone NOT TO CARE; monkey see monkey do. I have never gone back and never will. I would suggest a local sub shop over this place, or if you looking for a fancy more upscale dinner the Wakefield Inn is truly amazing. You'll pay the same price and you will get a meal you'll never forget with amazing service & ambiance.

Michael Baker

Where should I start, first off my cousin Randy is the Brewmaster, So the beer is outstanding. The food and atmosphere is great.

imma X

I'll start off by saying their beer is good.. I personally like the Henniker Brewery better .. but Hobbs makes an ok beer. That being said their service is atrociously slow & they're food is WAY over priced. So my suggestion is if you're thirsty stop in for a beer but pass this one by if you're not feeling like a rich tourist with all the time in the world to sit & twiddle your thumbs.

scott majowicz

This place changes it menus to often and has no vegan options. It has also been said that they do not care about locals they only care about the tourists. Nice people but not a place I will spend my money.

Jim Martorana

Hobbs tavern has great food and even better drinks. The selection of craft beers is awesome

Peter Mathieu

Awesome service, food, prices and hospitality. Our fave stop when returning from the Whites.

pingyao shao

Food, service and beer always wonderful. My friend order fish and chip that was delicious. I like their fries and beef brisket.

Randy Langer

Arrived this rainy afternoon (Saturday, 4 Aug 18) for a beer after reading the review in this weeks Weirs Times. Parking lot 50% full so we were looking forward to a cold beer. Arrived at the hostess desk and was told there would be a wait. Quick glance around the room noticed about 75% full, lots of empty tables... Why a wait? Decided to head to bar instead. Two seats quickly opened up yet previous dishes yet to be cleared. We sat for a solid 10 minutes without even a look, let alone a "hey, be right with you"... Why? Female bartender preoccupied with two guys to our left and retrieving napkins and silverware... After another 5 minutes my wife and I left. Preoccupied bartender never even cleared the mess before us, never acknowledged our existence. Why? Upon leaving, we noticed "Help Wanted" on billboard in parking lot... Hobbs needs a lot more than just help...

Callie Rose

Don’t advertise specials for holidays you don’t have and for the love of god get better waitresses

Mike Rodriguez

Nice atmosphere, great decor, delicious dishes with generous portions. Friendly service and the live piano music is a nice touch. And of course, a nice variety of their own beers. Will definitely come back again.

Wayne Roma

Veggie burger and their beer were perfect, staff did their job. I would not recommend their so called "Nachos" though. Very poor excuse for nachos. Cold crispy home made potato chips with what appeared to be poured on cold liquid cheese sprinkled with bacon bits and a few chopped up tomatoes. They need to put a lot more effort into putting that together.

Lynda Caza

Great food! Good service! Good beer and wne selection! Im happy!

Greg DePasse

Great beers and food. Had the IPA and DIPA and both were tasty. Wifey had the Jam Sesh mead cider blend which was awesome. Very crisp. Rib eyes were perfect cooked at medium. And the chocolate bomb and vanilla ice cream were a great combo.

Rand Torman

We were staying up the road and were directed to this Brewery as a good choice for dinner and a beer. It did not disappoint! 3 of us sat at the bar, the bar staff was pretty friendly and service was spot on. We had chowder (broth, not thick, decent stock, good flavor); I had BBQ brisket, another had short ribs, and the third had a small app (he wasn't feeling well). Overall we had a very good meal, a nice evening, and the service was great. I would recommend it if you're in the area.

Breana Sullivan

I’ve never posted a review for somewhere I never ate but I felt the need after my brief experience here. I came in at 6:30pm on a Wednesday with 2 other people for dinner. I was told it was a 30 min wait but was confused by several open tables. The hostess told me there were only 3 servers and they didn’t want to overwhelm them. After reading several other reviews it made sense. Whether it’s the management or not it is clear this place is always understaffed and not a pleasant experience. The food and drinks may be good but the experience has much to be desired!

Dan Salvucci

This stop on the way up was fantastic. Super friendly staff and great service. Food was piping hot and fast. The atmosphere in this place is great and it smells like a campfire inside. I want to visit this place in winter.

Cassidy Swartz

Excellent short rib and beers! When we called to make a reservation the staff was very friendly and fit us in within the hour! Love the atmosphere. We aren't from around here, but when we visit we make it a point to come here!

Erik Higgins

Nice atmosphere and plenty of seating. Open later than most places and can handle larger groups. Beer and food were tasty.

Matt L

Awesome cider and meads. Gluten free fish and chips. Friendly staff, and cool atmosphere. Live piano player too. Probably for sunday's only I assume.

Sarah McClain

The food was amazing and the beer was good. The atmosphere was very relaxing as well. The waitress did a great job of checking in on us and making sure we were all set. A great place to spend a Saturday or any day

Jean LaPrade

My husband and I stopped here for dinner last night (9/18/18) because it has been a favorite of ours after many visits in the past. There were just the two of us in our party and there were many empty tables available in the restaurant/ pub. The Maitre de (older woman with long curly hair) seated us in the lower dining room. We were alone during half of our meal then a party of 13 young people with many kids were seated in the room for a "birthday party". The noise level became very loud with one child screeching frequently. Two other groups of people had been seated in this room near this group - and within a few minutes they requested to be seated elsewhere due to the noise. My husband & I quickly finished our dinner and asked for our check. I commented to the Maitre de that she should not have seated us in a room with such a loud group. She started to argue with us - stating the group had reservations. I said then if she knew this group was coming she should not have seated us there. She continued to argue with us - stating that birthday parties are meant to be fun - making us feel like "we" were the bad guys. We were so insulted by this Maitre de that we will never visit this restaurant again nor will we recommend it to any of our friends - starting with the people entering the restaurant as we left when they asked how we rated the place

Anthony Montoya

Very nice atmosphere service was great Food was decent Prices are high portions are small Have a great selection of beers and wines with a full bar

Boyen Thompson

A+ Great brew and tasty food. Randy is a great Brewer and our waiter Mike was tops.

Bill H

Great service and Stripes beer was fantastic.

Dylan Lovering

Love the atmosphere! Food and beer selection is unique and varietal

Glenn Kemper

The worse service. Do not go to the bar if your not a local. They will not talk to you. Go some place else to spend your money.

Bean Counter

Nice atmosphere and good beer. Unfortunately, the food is very overpriced for what you get. For example, we ordered veggie burgers that we're $13 each. We've been to other breweries that charge less $9. The high price was even less justified when the burgers fell apart when picked up. Despite the server telling us to take our time, her demenor made us feel rushed. It wasn't a bad experience overall, but there are so many breweries to choose from that do it better.

Emily-Paige Smith

Very disappointing. As a visitor to NH, Hobbs looked like a good pub similar to proper British ones, but no. Do not come here if you are a U.K. Citizen. Apparently a full UK driving licence isn't a form of valid ID, you need passports, VISAs and driving licenses! All 3! What international visitor carries all of that ID with them to a bar?! I can't comment on the food or drink because we weren't allowed in the bar long enough to experience it. After this I can safely say I will never set foot in Hobbs again. Well done on losing customers Hobbs!

henrynoyes51

Stopped in for late lunch, had pastrami and swiss with fries. Had great waitress and service was good. Menu is little lacking on presentation but nice place to stop when passing through.

Dan Beaudoin

Nice atmosphere, good service & food

boyceyusa

Terrible. 17 dollars for a under cooked cold burger and cold "truffle" fries. I'm not given to complaining bit we did, and the management did nothing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

Scott Mounce

Great atmosphere and great food ... just a bit pricey. Great coffee ... needs to be hotter :-)

Gilad Globen

Food was great, service a bit slow. The pork ribs in BBQ sauce are amazing. Beer was really good. We tasted about 7 beers, most were very very good with deep flavors.

Chris Perry

My Favorite Brewery

Becky Rudolf

Great beer, food and service were mediocre.

David Gasior

The food is very good here, same goes for the beer. The problem is staff. We came one night and told there was an hour wait, people kept coming in with reservations. Next day we called and got sent to voicemail. So still not sure if reservations are possible. The host didn't really seem to know what was going on. Our server was really friendly but definitely overbooked. She kept forgetting to get us stuff because she was handling at least 10 large tables. With all that said the food and brew was really good and there's nothing else like this in the area.

Thomas Pearce

If at all possible I'd give it less. First the beer was nothing too special at all (the stout tastes like water). The fish n chips was mehh, fish being flavorless and slimy and fries being fluffy but cold. Service was slightly attentive, but it was obvious she knew nothing about beer. It seems like the owner Hadley money to open a place and doesn't care about its quality because interior was gorgeous but the product was dissapointing.

David Hoyt

Awesome... I love stopping there

Courtney Balliro

Food was fine, beer we had was unimpressive. Nice back patio, family friendly, good experience

Bill Gassman

Great place but service was slow on a Friday night, with the parking lot full. Burgers and fish and chips we're good. Baked haddock way overdone. Tasted more like a $15 entree than the $22 charged. Rice side dish was bland white rice. Beers are very good and the atmosphere is nice. Hard to have a conversation when dining room is full, due to poor acoustics. Could barely hear the live guitar music.

Lynne Crafts

Dont order saled so small you will leave starving beer is very good

mikeinthe603

Pretty good cider on tap.

Gil Gerretsen

Okay, we were passing through town on our way to the coast and thought this looked like nice place to stop for lunch. Let me alert you that we left before we ordered anything. Upon arrival we walked up to the hostess station where a sign told us to "please wait to be seated." We stood and waited ... and waited ... and waited. Perhaps five minutes before someone came up and told us to wait on the couch. It would be about 10 minutes before a table became available. Interestingly, we saw lots of open tables! Not sure why we couldn't be seated, but oh well. While we waited, I walked over and grabbed a menu. Oh my goodness, those prices were ridiculously high for a backwater place in a backwater town. I've paid less at classy establishments! This wasn't going to be one of them. We walked out and went elsewhere. I suggest you go elsewhere too.

Jeff Otterson

Good burgers. Beers tasty.

Papa Joe Gaudet

I loved Hobbs Tavern. The staff was great, the place is beautiful, and the food is awesome. I will be back!

Daniel McKinney

We went with a group of 14. We all had the Sunday buffet. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We all had a great experience. The price was competitive. Well worth the visit.

Nadine Sacco

Great food, service & atmosphere.

Allen Pincket

Not a beer guy, so I'll withhold judgment on that front, but I have to agree with the many reviews which mention the pathetic quality of food. I'm not all that hard to please, but its expensive to eat out and I do expect $20 plus entrees to at least be adequate. The food frankly, is awful- pasta sauce is watery and several apps flavorless, except the obvious and unnecessary need to douse them with salt. Service is extremely slow also.

michelle Greene

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.

Michael Scott

Very good food and service. The diners in my group had salmon, pork chops, and Thai curry and all were well prepared and very tasty.

Kenneth Pennell

Awesome venue. Food and staff are amazing

Jeff Kariya

Utterly miserable food and massively overpriced. Overwhelmed kitchen at half capacity, confused hostesses and overworked wait staff.

Brian Macdonald

Always a pleasure to have a meal there. Good food and nice wait staff.

Krystina Nardello

They have no food. Half of there menu is there merchandise. No steak or potatoes. No pasta. One fish entree. Its all sandwiches that are way overpriced. I thought a page of the menu was missing but asked and i was wrong. Would never come back. What a waste of a suppose to be fun night.

Ian Marling

Hobbs features a decent selection of really well made food, but the real star here is the beer. They feature a nice selection of really top-notch beer they brew themselves. This is a really nice place to stop for a bite to eat, and is my first choice on my way back and forth to the White Mountains.

marshall themarshman

Beer was great but food was way to much $$$

Bill Gauthier

Great food, great beer. Very enjoyable visit! Will definitely be back

Nathan Plumley

Only brewery in a 10 mile radius. And with good reason: the life of a brewery within that red zone would be nasty, brutish, and short. This place is a home run. You guys are crushing it. Had good service, had good food, had good drinks, and was impressed with the layout and the amount of space inside of here.

Harry H

The beer was really good here. The food was above average. Would come back again. Staff were helpful and friendly

j pe

Nice well kept Tavern. Good food and of the two beers I had, their farmhouse was excellent!!! Meals can be a bit too pricey though but they are good.

Kim McDade

Excellent food and servicr

Stephen Law

Hobbs has Trivia on Tuesday nights and it is a blast. Have been a member of team "Latin Club" and a few others and have walked away with a smile on my face. Food, brews and trivia on Tuesday nights at Hobbs is a great way to spend time with your friends!

OfficialShawnBurke

Went in for the Brunch Buffet. Wow , what a spread they put out. At a great price also. Great decor in the restaurant.

WAYNE ANDERSON

Not all Craft beer and menu items available. Servers understaffed.

Michael McDonough

Good steak but unfortunately they where out of stuff due to big weekend

Joshua Bonaiuto

Food is good. Service is mediocre regardless of how busy or dead it is. The beer is pretty good. They have a brew for everyone. The food is way over priced for what your getting.

Alexander Magnuson

Wonderful place! They have typical pub fair and some exotic items too. The beer selection looks great but I didn't get the chance to try any on this visit.

Louis Lacman

In this area, on a Sunday, it was tough to find good dining options so when we saw Hobbs, we stopped because it looked like good place for a beer and sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor, neatness, and cleanliness of the place. Host was very friendly and we sat by the fireplace in the dining room. Our server, Valerie, was super nice, professional, and nailed her steps of service. Food came out quick. Had the Brussel sprouts and pretzels for apps. They didn’t blow my mind, but they were both very good, exactly as I hoped they would be. Veggie burger was pretty good. Good flavor, not over seasoned like they usually are. Greek salad was good, but the presentation was sort of deconstructed which meant I had to cut it all up and toss it myself. Had a beer flight. Very interesting beer list. Not just IPAs. Pretty impressive selection of drafts brewed onsite. The Silk Road Hefe and the Salinity Now Gose were standouts. I was very happy with the experience. I mean it’s really just a pub/tavern at its core, but they take it to next level, especially compared to what’s nearby. Well done, Hobbs.

Marie Knox

Went 4 brunch ( we were told they serve brunch) & was told they no longer served brunch once we got there!

Mrs. Ruyffelaert

I have never left a restaurant before even ordering. There was a 20 minute wait so we went to the bar. Over 20 minutes were not even acknowledged. When we were called for our table they tried seating us in a freezing corner crammed next to a piano. Despite many open seats we weren't offered a comfortable seat. I have never had such awful service from a large staff just milling about. It was disappointing as we would have ordered lots.

Suzanne Brown

First of all the place is beautiful! The food well that is a different story ! I ordered BBQ ribs which were so dry I couldn't even get the meat off of the bone, and the food was room temp like it had been sitting in a warmer prepared prior to ordering. When the waitress came over she asked me how the food was and she insisted on replacing my meal because that one was not edible, so she said let me replace it with the short ribs it will be just a few minutes...ok ..so she brings the short ribs which tasted like pot roast again room temperature..so it even gets better..she says we'd like to offer you a free desert to compensate for the inconvenience...so then the bill comes and she says we comped your meal..now they took my 20 dollar BBQ rib meal off and charged me 24 dollars for the meal she suggested to replace my original meal! I couldn't believe it !! Needless to say that was our first and last visit to HOBBS! , but the waitress was very nice if that counts ! So disappointed!! Also the food was out within 10 minutes of ordering and it definitely was not freshly prepared!

Santi C

the hostes was amazing a 10/10 i went saturday for lunch and i just couldn’t stop thinking about the service there it was astonishing although my server took a little bit longer than expected i was pleased with the delicious food that hobbs has to offer it’s a great place for a date or for casual lunch hobs is where you want to go.

Timothy J Randall

Great family gathering place, food is great, beer even better. Don't visit the valley without going

Louis Roy

Good service and friendly staff. Fairly expensive. A good place for tourist to go.

KenN None

How to review this place... First off, I am a beer snob, so someplace with unusual or interesting beers will get my attention. Hobbs does not, the beers they brew are ok, but nothing to make me tingle with delight. Food is ok, service is good. Hobbs does some special food/beer pairings occasionally. I only bought tickets once, when I saw the menu, I gave the tickets to someone else. Since then, every time Hobbs had a beer pairing dinner, I wait for the menu, then decline the invitation.

Neil OKEEFFE

Nothing special, ok for NH standards

Ryland Correia

Loved the decorations and the inside. Great food and they make there own beer.

WANDA JOHNSON

Beer was OK. We had a flight. None of the beers wowed us. They were all fairly bland not much taste. Had chicken wings. They were OK. Had better for a lot less money. Sat at the bar. Not all that busy. Service was poor. Waited for ever to get our bill and then to pay. Almost felt as if we were being ignored. Won't be back anytime soon.

Robert Ahern

Food is ok but not great. Bartender was not very attentive. When signing my check the pen didn’t work I had to wait about 20 mins before I walked around the bar and got the Bartender’s attention. Cost $4 to upgrade French fries to a side salad. Beer is ok but not spectacular.

mike skiinghousedad

Amazing collection of fresh brews and tasty meals. Warm inviting atmosphere. Great place for a lunch.

Sarah Riendeau

This place is beautiful. The food is amazing! I have a gluten allergy and most of the food was gluten free! Even the fried chicken wings (my favorite) Everything we tried was awesome! The service was even better... our waitress was the sweetest! Definitely coming back again... soon!

Ryan Ketterer

Overall a cool place. The beer was tasty (tried 2 IPAs) and the poutine which I had as a meal was very good. The brisket on the poutine was a bit dry though, which was disappointing. Got the smores lava cake for dessert and that was epically disappointing - instead of lava in the center, it was a sold block of cold chocolate. Super sad because the cake and marshmallow were very good. This place caters to families mainly, so if you go expect lots of little children everywhere.

Justin Garnett

Very great place a bit pricey but plenty of options on alcohol plan to spend about 80 for 2

Duke DeVilling

Solid spot. Beer is above average. They also had mead which I did not try. The place looks awesome on the inside and the food is solid. We had burgers that were tasty.

Donna Geisel

Clean, friendly and food was good. Would recommend if your traveling through new Hampshire.

Agnes Dziewaltowski

No complaint s, wouldn't change a thing..nice atmosphere and good food,friendly staff...

Tyson Reissfelder

The food was delicious and a good value for the price. Our server was prompt and attentive. The atmosphere is comfortable with decorations that reflect brewing and 19th century technology.

Robert Price

Good food. Little on the expansive side. But overall good.

Tim Ferreira

Walked in at 5:00PM and got turned away because there were "no reservations left". There were at least 5-6 tables open. Went somewhere else instead. Call ahead if you want to go to this place, they can't be bothered with walk ins

BIG-BAD-BRUINS22 HOCKEY MAN

Local here..i work down the road from hobbs and just a fair warning. Dont go to eat here unless you feel like waiting 30+ minutes for someone to even take your order

Laurie Crotty

Good food assortment for the buffet. A little pricy, $29.00 For adults.

Really like the bar staff! The food is good, but the bartender made it worth the visit! They were very attentive and we never ran out of drink! the cheese curds were great, the chicken Caesar salad dressing was a little dry but the shortrib made up for it.

Greg Chabot

Pricey, a good selection of craft beers. Never had a bad meal there. I recommend going in the middle of the week as it can be very crowded on certain nights. Great place for a date.

The actual restaurant at Hobbs is good but the bar itself is tended by unaccomadating and flat out rude bar keeps. I travel to NH once a year and love craft beer so when I found out that "Hobbs Brewrey" was not 30 minutes down the road I was ecstatic. I have two "growler works" stainless steel growlers and called to confirm that they would be able to fill them along the state guidelines as I know that a company can only sell their own brand of beer and I was assured that as long as the bar keep could put a blank white sticker with the name of the beer on it, it could be filled. Fast forward to when I visited the brewery, I had a sample to insure what beer I would like to fill my two growlers and decided on a beer. I then asked the bar keep to fill up the two growlers to which she obliged but then returned seconds later saying they were out of stickers and she couldn't fill them because she could not brand it. I them informed her that she could do anything to alter my personal growlers so she could brand their beer and sell me the beer because I had gone a half an hour out of my way. She then said she didn't feel comfortable branding the alcohol without the sticker and couldn't do anything for me (all whilst being incredibly rude). I left immediately because I had come here to fill my growlers and she was steadfast in not branding them in any way other than a sticker. Long story short: I called ahead to confirm I could fill my growlers then got there and because the brewery didn't have any STICKERS she couldn't do anything for me.

We stopped in a few weekends back to enjoy a meal after checking out Monkey Trunks up the street. The food was absolutely delicious (you can tell because we ate most of it before I remembered to take a photo!). The flight of beer was less expensive than you would expect and was also delicious. The best part by far was the live entertainment. The pianist had a cute little notebook at each table listing what songs you could request and the various ways to do so. I would go back in a heart beat if I am back in the area.

Wow I'm so close to giving a full five stars. I love fish and chips but this may be the best fish & chips I've ever had. Add beer fondue and some outstanding beer and I don't even remember how hard the hike was. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars is I've only been once and for a 5th star I require a minimum 3 visits to confirm consistency. UPDATE I keep thinking about the fish and chips. It's a 2 hour drive from home, need to go back.

Tuesday trivia! Food was good, service great! Trivia fun!

Enjoyed a good meal on the porch with the kids. Food was tasty!

Robert Weeks

Great beer at a reasonable price.

Diana Doyle

Nice ambiance. Menu is just ok. Please note I don't drink so I wouldn't be able to rate the Tavern section.

Meh. 3 of us sat at the bar on a slow afternoon. Bartender was friendly but nonexistent. Poutine was good (fries). Mussels were bland. French dip was super-fatty and tasteless. Nobody asked us how any of the food was, not the bartender or manager. The first two beers we requested from the menu were out of stock or not pouring well enough to serve, but that’s okay...we got good beers. We had heard pretty good things about this place, but oh well.

Came here with 8 family members. Very cold atmosphere when we arrived. Despite almost all of us being 30+, the bar tender remarked aloud to customers at the bar that there was "no way we were 21", causing them all to laugh at us. We all had ID. I was walking out to take a seat on the balcony when a server opened the door in front of me, looked at me and said, "Jesus", then just walked off. Incredibly rude. We were sitting for ten minutes with no service, not even a menu. Decided to take our business elsewhere so I cannot attest as to the quality of the beer or food. Very disappointed as been coming to this area all my life and was excited to try somewhere new. Neither me, nor the 20 family members I have with me in NH every couple years, will be back.

My buddies and I have eaten here about six times now, as we visit the town of Tamworth and go to the Club Motorsports track. We are all foodies to varying degrees, all over 50, all married and all sophisticated world travellers. We have adventurous palates, too. We all really like Hobbs! I/we have not had a bad meal! Once the slow-cooked, "12 hour short ribs" had a bit or two that was not that tender and moist, but usually the chef is spot on. I've had the dry aged ribeye, pan-seared salmon and more. During this last trip on the fifth, sixth and seventh, we had two specials. The swordfish that was perfection, on a bed of orzo with cherry tomatoes and (?)... and then two of us had the scallops which were au point! I mean they were very "rare", thus sweet, juicy and tender. They were covered in leeks and sat on a hash of Kiełbasa, squash and potatoes and all dressed with a cream sauce. The thick-cut fries are some of the best I've ever had. Service has always been great and drink pours very generous. We particularly liked being waited on by Sarah. All the staff is great. This is not even that much of a gem in the rough! They have a really decent wine list and some good beers. This is a must try.

We loved this since this has opened. We are local only a couple miles away, so we can fall into this place. On our recent visit on Friday night, we found just the down stairs open and they said you had to have a reservation. Were they have the whole upstairs closed off it is puzzling to not be able to find a seat when clearly there was plenty of seats. Then after over hearing and seeing Facebook - it is around staffin and finding enough people. We did sit at the bar, and they were very accommodating and super friendly and up beat. We had great Manhattan's and Raspberry Cosmo - they were well done and real drink for sure. Hobbs is not cheap but we have pretty much always had a really great meal. I'm just over IPA these days, and they just keep and only offer Hop mania beers - we need an Owl's nest like the Sea Dog Pub - easy to drink, light and no grapefruit IPA after taste (just my personal taste here). The stout is very good as well. For the meal two of us had fish and two had the meatloaf. Meatloaf was lights out great. The fish was just to dry and just no seasoning. We had never seen this on their Haddock and Salmon dishes before. And the veggies were just not done enough. And the only thing for these prices, it should be spot on. I have clocked in over 20 seatings at Hobbs, so I can speak from experience. I think this was just an outlier night. The place is super, super rustic, if you are a fit and finish person, and you follow things on Pinterest, you need to sit at the bar and look around - it is awesome.

Very overpriced small portions. Ordered 2 salads and added pan seared scallops for an additional 14 dollars. We got 4 scallops with the salad. 3.50 per scallop! Discussed the price and the fact that we would be leaving the restaurant hungry with our waiter. He agreed it was pricey, and not much of a meal. He made no attempt to either pass along our opinion the the management or offer any options at all. If you want seafood go to Jakes down the street. If you want to lose some weight on your body and your wallet this is your place.

Alex Holmansky

Great food, good beer, good service. There's something for everyone at this place.

I'm a seasonal resident of nearby Parsonsfield, Me. and frequented the former Whittier House as a hangout, to watch a game, or to get decent food. I was both excited and disappointed when it closed and the new Hobbs Tavern emerged. We would watch the progress of the long renovations online and anticipated great things for the new enterprise. Knowing that the owners were well known for their other ventures like the Sap House Meadery. We have visited the tavern three times since it opened and were less than impressed. It could be said that we were actually disappointed. Last night we decided to give it one more try- what a mistake! The restaurant was clearly overwhelmed by two functions that were going on at the same time as our visit. There were long wait times, a lot of frustrated patrons, the the food was cold. I have never returned a meal, but was forced to last night, when the prime rib special came out cold. Our server was very apologetic and took my plate back to the kitchen. When it returned, the kitchen staff replenished the vegetables and rice, in-order to freshen up the plate but the prime rib was still cold. The only bright spot to our visit was our server. Her name was Karyn and she was pleasant and willing to do whatever was needed to make it right. Her knowledge of the menu was exceptional. She deserves better as she is the face of the establishment and we the patrons deserve better.

Do they know how to even cook the simplest fare? Wow, the food is awful here. Three strikes, no more. And stop trying to pile entrees onto a diner's table one minute after an appetizer has arrived. Fundamental stuff, guys.

Tim Hurd

New menu, incredible poutine and pretzels with beer cheese. Get a flight and don't leave off the Black Sheep Cream Ale or the Ten State Stout!

Pat Good

Love Hobbs! We went when they first opened and they have only improved since. We stop there every time we are in the area!

Jeff Craigie

Very nice atmosphere and the stouts and porters were great. Sandwichs were good , a little pricey but home fried chips were great.

Jason Paradise

Great atmosphere great craft beer...nice menu choices

Tammy Majowicz

Menu changes to much. There is only one vegan option and you can only get it at night time. Staff for the most part is great.

Craig H

Went for the Sunday Brunch with my wife on 3/10/19. The food and value proposition was, quite frankly, abhorrent. We both had "home fried chicken and waffles" and were served freezer grade belgian waffles topped with off-brand frozen chicken tenders. The maple syrup supplied was supposed to be a "homemade siracha infused maple" and instead was of the quality of Mrs. Buttersworth. We were charged ~$15/ea for this privilege. The service was excellent, so I added a star back for that. Perhaps the food at dinner is better, but I will NOT be returning for brunch or lunch as it seems that they put so little effort into it. Their beer is great and I regularly get 1/6bbl kegs from here for my kegerator.

From the moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a hostess with a smile. Promptly seated and the waitress was there in a flash with ice water and asking what else we might like to drink. We had the lil' gray beer which was very good. We ordered their burger with cheddar and freshly cut chips. The interior of the restaurant is very warm and friendly especially with the fireplace. We have found another good place to stop for a bite to eat and a beer!

Gloria Alvarez

Awesome food, great service!

Greg Manns

This was an absolutely pleasant surprise after completely stumbling upon it on the way home. The atmosphere is so cozy I didn't want the meal to be over. The food was stellar and the Scotch choices; the number one way to win me over at an establishment is to offer great Scotch Whiskey on your menu. I know, it's a brewery, but I don't drink beer, but my friend did indeed enjoy a good beer. If I find myself in the White Mountains again, I'll be sure to make a detour here.

Jacob Brisson

Service was AMAZING. Our server was Sarah the first time we went, and we ended up going the next day as well, we asked for the same waitress because she was just so great. The food was incredible also. The poutine was smokey and delicious, the caeser salad and the french onion soup are also so great. The atmosphere was astonishingly beautiful, rustic but also updated and modern.

Tim Carson

Everything was great...beer, food, service & atmosphere.....the 36 hour brisket sandwich is a must!!!!

Richard Watson

Always great. Food is delicious food is yummy

Chad Ober

Good beer, good food, friendly service!

Carole Mahoney

Great craft beer, cocktails and food. The crispy brussel sprouts hit the spot.

angela mathis

We were a party of 12 that came in without reservations. They were quick to accommodate us and very friendly! The service was awesome. We even ordered drinks and asked for separate checks and our server did it without any trouble. Also the ambiance and bar was five stars. Thank you Hobbs for a wonderful last minute Bachelorette dinner.

DJ Hyde

Pros: Food is great and fresh, great craft beer. Cons: Portions per price are just okay, some items are pricey for what you get.

Annette Rowland

New menu burgers are great truffle fries a must have. Portions are big and food is great if you like beer great place to go.

Michael Coffield

Food was ok, very loud place

Adam Arsenault

Hobbs has completely renovated the old Whittier House, for anybody that was in their prior. They made it look absolutely stunning up and downstairs. If you're into local brews this is a great place to go, the food is good, the service was good, and the prices are competitive.

Ryan McKernan

Hard to deny a GABF medal winning brewery anything but five stars. Beer is always on point. Same goes for the food.

melissa allen

Very comfortable pub to spend an afternoon!

Kristin Taylor

I am a local and have been there before. But tonight was the last time. Starting with the small menu options. They have shrunk their menu by at least half. The different array of food is a bit confusing too. (BBQ, within eye shot of a BBQ place. ) Hubby was going to order the clams and linguine, but the waitress was honest and let us know it is canned clams. We live in New England where we can get fresh seafood at the drop of a hat. So why use canned? He ended up ordering the duck confit. The duck was so overcooked that it was actually chalky. I ordered the shrimp and Penne alla Vodka. The shrimp was fine and not over cooked. But the vodka sauce was burnt... It tasted horrible. After bringing the food back to the chef, she came back and let us know that the chef admitted that the sauce was burnt. If he knew it, then why even send it out? They comped those and we went with the fried haddock. That was good. Light and fluffy. Wouldn't you think that if your paying top $ and were getting less than par food the mngmt would come over and apologize or something???? NOPE not even an acknowledgement of it. Seriously??? The one star is because the waitress was awesome! I was so disappointed that I forgot to get her name. Such a pity that this place has gone down hill like it has. They used to have awesome escargot.

Walter Gayer

Good food pricey. Very helpful and good wait staff . It's a very loud place for dinner. Hard to walk in and get a table need to make a reservation usually 20-minute wait.
