I really enjoyed my time here. I was looking for a place with live Irish music and was impressed by the kind people, good drinks and good music here. It's not too loud so that we could talk. I'll definitely be back!

James Finn

Really old fashioned, local bar vibe. Live Irish folk music. Not hip or cool in any sense of the word but very, very real. A friend and I often finish up an evening here with a "pint o the black." Bring cash.

Shawn Dillon

So a fun atmosphere

Eric Zobel

Always disappointed with this place. Would it kill them to do a few renovations. Price is on average with other places in the area but atmosphere is throwback.

"Did you pay your dues?" This sign greets you at the door and you have to be buzzed in. I went on a Friday night and I was the youngest person in there by 25 years (I'm 25). I'm not from Detroit, so I didn't know what I was getting into. But either way, I had a few Guinness (they keep the lines very clean, tasted great) and enjoyed some live traditional music. This won't be my hang out every weekend, but if my parents or grandparents come to visit, I'd bring them by for a pint.

The Gaelic League is located almost downtown Detroit in the Historic District of Corktown. There is ample parking on Michigan Ave. and they have their own fenced parking in back. This is a very cozy and romantic place to bring out the Irish in you. Mary is the barmaid and she'll share her pretzels while you listen to live music with her. They have dinners on Fridays and have many festivities and dancing lessons going on throughout the year. Of course St. Patrick's Day is something else. Then is when The Gaelic League is Detroit's dead center for celebrating this wonderful holiday. They set up tuge tents in the back for imbibing and partying with live entertainment and about a dozen or more port-a-potties for those who can't hold their Guinness till they get home. Inside there is live music also with many dancers. If it's all too much for you see if you can crowd in to sit by the fireplace and just absorb all the good feelings radiating around you. Bliss. Also a great place to visit on all other days, just tell Mary Gary sent you.
