Not fun. I enjoy loud music, but to have a live country band and DJ between sets with a sound board operator which I believe is hard of hearing is not the way to go. Sounds like a speaker with a busted tweeter. The last time I was here I said I would not come back again. I was reminded yet again not to go.

June 8 is the last night for country bands, the ownership changed in March of 2018, since that time the new ownership has done nothing to promote country music, They continue to promote hip job R & B and other genres which doesn’t seem to be taking on to well, Cancun Cantina was a unique county venue and will be hard to replace, this place is done! Defiantly a one star bar, if that, sad day!

Not what it used to be. Young disrespectful guys. 10 to 1 ratio for males vs females. Music was only the newer music which is not as good as some of the older dance music. Don’t even bother going to this bar! I am a long time customer of this place but since they have new ownership it is terrible. First off they patt you down at the door ok no biggy a little uncomfortable but I get it but then they won’t let you take in your coat they forse you to check it in and charge you 1.00 for that. Then if you want to get your coat to go out to smoke ( 32 degrees) they won’t let you and tell you o there’s heaters out there. Another thing is they charge you when there is no band playing just a dj. Also as I was leaving with my bottled water they made me throw it out and said I was not aloud to leave with it. Way to go new management you could care less about your customers and I will not be back

Cheapest cover charge at the door; $10 typically. Food is great, drinks are fine and the servers are so friendly! This is the first nightclub(or bar, to some of you locals) where I had a conversation with a server; which would persuade me to by $2 jello shots. I'm not going to mention her name but she was so friendly, it was like I was talking to an old high school friend. You order your food from one of the bartenders, then in the same bar, you can grab your food and eat it anywhere in the premise, I like that a lot! All the bartenders know every cocktail drink like the back of there head; there is no such thing as a drink they can't make unless they ran out of alcohol. Unlike Power Plant or Ultrabar, you can really get lucky in mingling with the girls, especially on ladies night on Wednesday nights. I'm still trying to figure out how Cancun Cantina would have a 3:1 Women-over-men ratio on a Wednesday night, which is a good thing. I would recommend this place for people of all ages or the legal requirement of age 21 and older. 20s, 30s or 40s, this is literally for everyone! Single and never been to a nightclub, try this place! In a business perceptive, Cancun Cantina has a solid foundation in running a entertainment facility. With silent in-house promos and a friendly staff. I really wanna know the owners secret in Cancun Cantina.

Talk about heart broken. My husband and I (cancun sweethearts) have been coming here together for 3+ years, myself coming for 9 years. Have have been VIPs there for years as well. We have met so many wonderful people, made great friends, and had amazing experiences at this bar we called a second home. Because of new ownership, and the new owners openly admitting to not caring about the "boot scootin boogiers" OR the regulars of 25+ years, saying that we are replaceable, we will not be going back. It's time to find another place to dance.

Had something for everyone. There's country/line dancing for an older yet highly talented crowd, and a second dance area with top-40 club hits in a blacklight/tiki bar area. There even an outside patio area with a sand for that's more popular in the summer. Go for the drinks and dancing, but pass on the food.

its a nice redneck place where black guys have to pull up their shirt before entering as proof their pants are pulled up. Then after you enter as a non white person you get mistreated greatly and over watched by security. But hopefully you have great time, because the dj sucks. Ever since this bar was newly purchased, it has steadily gone downhill. Many friendly employees were let go and replaced by disrespectful and shady individuals. Cancun Cantina used to be a hot ticket on Friday and Saturday nights. As of now, barely anyone goes there during weekends anymore. In my opinion, new ownership implemented unnecessary changes which have caused a great amount of old customers to not return. As an example, they are currently transitioning their country music side into hip-hop. This new management group has been running what once was a highly popular bar into the ground. Sad thing is I do not feel they even realize now much business has declined recently.

Beware of the new ownership. They are going to charge your card additional above and above your tab. They will tell you it is $50 which was what it was at 1st then jumped to $135 on top of my $200 tab. The drinks are small and weak! I would not recommend this place.

We stayed at live loft on our trip from va,after casino we wanted to dance and found this place. It had some not so good reviews on yelp but feeling adventurous we took our chances..AWESOME NIGHT the guy at the door in the cowboy hat who was called a racist on yelp was very polite as he asked me to remove my doorag because of dress code.we conversed for a while and even though it’s a mixed crowd and we are out of state everyone was very open and inviting,the bouncer in the cowboy hat asked to see my wife and I before we left and gave us free vip passes for our next visit!! GREAT PLACE GIVE IT A TRY WE HOPE TO RETURN SOON!!

I don’t know how it is during the week but I love Salsa Dancing nights on Sunday. The dance floor is large, the parking is free and plentiful. I guess I am accustomed to all the parking hassles in Baltimore City and DC but it is nice and much safer to have parking right there. They have great dance lessons early in the night and a free buffet from like 10pm to midnight. (the kitchen doesn't open on Sundays so unfortunately you can’t order from the menu) Definitely a fun time.

Saddens me. For the past 8 years I have traveled constantly from pa with a group of friends to come spend the weekend line dancing. I just heard from friends here that the club was sold and management is horrible and by the reviews that is the case. Guess I will go to the heritage fair and go back up to Pennsylvania tomorrow.. this is a sad and wasted trip.

The Cancun Cantina is niw under new management. I went there on Friday, May 26, 2018 and have a live African American band and it was great. The other side had a great African American DJ, who play great versatile music and everyone was dancing diversity is great. I commend a new management outstanding job

Wish i could give this a zero star. Went there last night ( 2-16-2018) for a birthday my daughter forgot her ID on the bus, however the Bus left to take another person home then came back. The managers asked “if the driver of the bus take a picture of her license and send it to us”.REALLY umm she was DRIVING the bus, not so smart MS Manager!! STRIKE 1! They made us stand outside in 32 degree weather with no coats on until the bus came back 45 mins later. Wouldn’t even let us stand in the vestaview before you actually go into the bar! STRIKE 2!! Horrible Owners & management..STRIKE 3!

I'm updating my post from 3 years ago; Since my review there is new ownership and it's no longer the same place no fun for me I don't go there anymore. This is my favorite place to go dancing. Largest dance floor around. My favorite day to go is Wednesday's. Free line dancing lessons till 9 and ladies drink all night for one price. I usually get there before 7 to take advantage of the half price beer specials and no cover. Warning they don't serve IPAs or lattes here just fun.

I used to be a regular at this bar. After taking a break for a couple months, I decided to come back 2 Wednesday's ago. Within the first 5 minutes of being in the building, I was confronted by all three bouncers and was asked to step outside to talk. I agreed. Once we were outside one of the bouncers told me that I was being kicked out because one of the bartenders had an issue with me and the manager said I had to leave. I told the bouncer that I didn't even know the bartender and asked what the issue was. He said that I was a bouncer at another establishment and severely beat him up for no reason. First of all, I don't work as a bouncer anywhere. Second, if this were actually the case, I feel as if there should have been an actual altercation at Cancun Cantina in order to be kicked out. The bouncer walked back in and got some info from the bartender. When he came back out he asked for my ID. He checked it and saw that my name was not the name the bartender gave and let me back in. The bartender, John, looked at me and immediately went to the bouncer asking why I was let back in. The bouncer told him he got the wrong guy. Another staff member from Cancun Cantina came over to me and said that he was sorry and offered me a drink for my troubles. I didn't want anything so I asked my girlfriend if she would like something. She asked for a water. The staff member said, "well we didn't want to give her one, we want to give it to you." He asked me to go over to the bar to speak to the bartender. I kindly refused and said he can come to me if he wants to speak to me. The bartender, John, then came over and apologized and even showed me a picture of the bouncer who "beat him up for no reason". The guy didn't even look like me. We both had beards. That's about it. After it was all said and done, I didn't even want to be there for the rest of the night. Also, they got rid of most of the friendly employees and closed the side bars on the country side. I honestly can say that I probably won't be going back to this establishment. If I could give less than one star, I would.

There should be a red star for ZERO! Since the new Mgmt took over, no one I know goes to this bar anymore. That’s a shame because most have been going there for 15-20 years and it was one of the very best places to go.We all go to Twain’s now where our business is appreciated and clients are treated with the respect they deserve. I and my many friends will NEVER step foot in the Cantina again. Try Twain’s, you won’t be disappointed!

This is a significantly bipolar set of bars. Come early for line dancing and cowboy hats (and short shorts and boots). The dance floor is full with people that love dancing and know what they're doing. Then outside (later in the evening) is a hard core club scene: young crowd, black lights, sand pits and couches. The staff is friendly and great. My only recommendation to management would be to put some healthier food choices on the menu - but the tots are great.

Moved to the area and this place was close by just a bad experience overall there were maybe 20 people in the bar max drinks and entrance fee was overpriced. Also the bar tender seemed annoyed that he had do his job. we left after only 30 mins of being there

We went for the 7:30 line dancing lesson and practice for the first time tonight. The teacher was excellent! The variety of music was great. The patrons were friendly and willing to help us out when our feet were confused! The menu was average American bar choices. We had fun and will definitely return.

This venue, under new ownership, has fired more than half of the staff for various reasons, claimed that some of its most loyal customers are racist or are bigots, and have been systematically forcing out country music from what was once a country line dancing hot spot. The owners have slandered many for having differing opinions and have tried to back peddle on several occasions after realizing that their words and actions have driven off a large majority of their clientele, some of which have been patronizing the establishment for over 20 years. I whole heartedly believe that if the owners plan to continue this pattern it is highly likely the entire business will fold and will leave Maryland without what was once a very nice place to be. Unfortunate that the business is in a tall spin at the moment.

So a group of us had tickets to go to Cancun Cantina Drag Brunch. It was advertised as doors open at 12 noon and show starts at 1pm. We get there shortly before noon and the line is so long. There were about 200 people in line and more coming. At 12:30 the line had not moved. I didn't even think the doors were opened yet so I walked up there to see what was going on. There was 1....... ONE woman security guard trying to check everyone's ID and search their purses. ONE. When we left at 12:45 the line still had not moved much. We just gave a donation to Cancun Cantina because we left. We were standing in the hot sun sweating, hungry, and thirsty. The was the most disorganized mess I had ever seen. We will not be going back.

Been here a few times, nice enough place for being so close to the BWI airport. Traffic is decent in the area especially in the evening when leaving. Nice split in country and rock settings. I like the bike gatherings and special events they hold occasionally. Decent prices, about what you would expect for the area. I would recommend.

If you come in with a great attitude that's what you'll receive all night. Hands down the best place I've worked & been to. It's not at all like a west Baltimore club haven't had a single fight since they've had the place, security is on top of that & the owners are NOT at all racist! Come out & enjoy the fun you won't regret it.

Interesting place in that you enter into a large area that is mostly a country bar and dance floor, but as you walk across and through a door, you enter an entirely different world of a large dark room with urban / pop music, a bar in the center, and a beach area with tall tables on the far left side. Fun place. Lively energy. Gets pretty packed with local regulars on the weekends.

If I could give this zero stars Iwould. I have been going to this bar for years, my wife and Imet at this bar. We were drawn to it because of the country dance scene. Since the new owners took over, the bar has taken a dive. The owners have said and I quote "we don't care about the boot scooting boogie regulars we will just replace them" . As a result, we will not be returning to this bar. We always brought many different people as first timers there with us. However I will encourage others to avoid this bar that we used to love. It is a shame that it has come down to this. So bottom line is I'm not going to support a bar that doesn't value me as a long time loyal customer.

Wish i could give negative 1 reviews. Came to the drag brunch been here since 12:30..waited in a line for 30 min for food.. It's 2:30 and my food never came. Server comes and tells me she's waiting on grits.....that's cool but i never ordered grits. Completely unorganized everyone complaining. Never again!! 2 thumbs down!! Wish i had more thumbs to give them more thumbs down!

I love dancing here however Joe is the only good DJ. DJ Mike is absolutely terrible. I will be the only person dancing near the end of the night and he will not play my one and only request (normally played songs there). But he will play other dances multiple times. A lot of times he will only play what him and his wife want to hear. He kills the crowd and mood. New management is not very nice to prior VIP members either not new customers. I was treated awful when new management took over despite being a regular atleast 1-2 times a week and tipping 50-150% every time. They need to embrace the country side. The rap/rock side doesn’t do well at all. UPDATE: DJ joe is gone now. They are ruining the country side. Will update if anything changes but not looking good.

Had a good time, only complaint is they do not give you free water. For a bar, water should always be free, unless you want very intoxicated customers. Not paying 2 dollars for bottled water when I'm paying to get in and paying 8 dollars for a drink. Free water is a must.

Wasn't going to write a review, but after reading many of the others and finding out that this has happened before, Ill give my 2 cent. Me and my friends (all black btw...you can see where this is going if I had to mention that, lol) decided to celebrate another friends birthday at this place. So we pull up, get out of the car and one of my friends decides to take a sip of a miniature. He asks me if I wanted to taste, which I reply "yes" and sip as well. Immediately after that, a cop/bouncer gets out of this truck that was parked in front of the entrance and goes "You're gonna have to put that away...you cannot drink on my property!" I reply "Ok...sorry" and we put the miniature away. So then we were helping a friend put her shoes on, on the other side of the car (mind you, they couldnt see what we were doing). So then another cop/bouncer gets out and goes "We already told you, you cannot do that!" We respond "We're just helping her put her shoes on". He gets back in his car. So after finally getting our friends shoes on, as were walking up to the entrance. The first cop/bouncer gets out and goes "You cant come in, I already told you to leave". I go "I thought you told us to put the drink away and that was it, you never said anything about leaving" He goes "No, I saw you 2 drinking, and told you you cannot drink on my property, and you have to leave!" I go "Ok" and leave it at that. Me and my friends walk back to the car, and drive off...while thinking to ourselves "were we just racially profiled?" Needless to say, we ended up going somewhere else (Loafers on route 40...love it there btw) And come to find out, the club was dead anyway, there were only 2 people in there at the time. Why does a club where females can get in free before 10 not have more people? You would think it'd be much more lively, right? So final thought on this place: I think the place is borderline racist. It seems to me that they nitpick everything black people do, while never blinking an eye at their fellow white man, lol. Even after we did everything they asked (putting the drink away, still remaining respectful, even when they asked us to leave) they still managed to profile us, and treat us like they think all other black people act. Thats not right. We will not be going back. It might be a great place for white people, but to ALL MY BLACKS out there: PREPARE TO BE PROFILED and DO NOT let them see you drink in the parking lot...drink at the 7 eleven across the street first before you go over!

Wow, what a shame. My friends and I have been dancing and mingling at this club for 18 years. Business had slacked somewhat over the last two years but nothing serious. My wife and I went on vacation and when we came back the place was gutted. All of the best employees were gone and we were met at the door by folks who looked as though they were from the deep ghetto. Now you have to be scanned and patted down before entering as though you are in jail. The place is now dead. We still dance there on occasion because we haven't found a new place yet but, it won't be long till we can't tolerate it anymore. The cantina used to be really fun but now, it's just really DONE!

Security at door are so RACIST. They allow white people to just enter with no attention but check blacks dressing and stuff. My last experience there was terrible and i won't recommend there for any black guys who wanna have a good time.

I would like to give The man at the door with the cowboy hat, a big thank you for acknowledging law enforcement. The atmosphere at the cancun cantina was wonderful. I have never ever rated an establishment on any site, but here goes. This place is a joke. Don't waste your money. Some hotshot in a white cowboy hat catches you at the door and charges you $7.00 per person to enter. Told him we were just there to eat, "doesn't matter". So we go in, sit down and wait 15 minutes and no one waits on us, we find out you have to go to the bar yourself to order drinks, which I do and the bartender was nice but a plastic cup of margarita and a plastic cup of Coke was $10.00. Oh, and you order food at the bar too. The food, was awful too wife has been sick all night. So to wrap it up, we spent $14.00 to go in and walk up and order drinks and food that was horrible. Soda refills are $2.00 for a 8oz cup packed with ice maybe four swallows. Just awful!!! And sadly enough they could care less. Spent $14 to get in, $14 on drinks, and $45 on food left in an hour $73 less money and disappointed.
