REVIEWS OF Oasis IN Maine

Janine Carbone

Absolutely terrible experience. My friend waited over 15 minutes at the bar trying to get someone to serve her one drink, being constantly ignored as others coming and going were served first. When I tried to flag someone down behind the bar, all I got was an insult saying there's no way I'll get served with that attitude, and they walked away. To make matters worse, they doubled charged her over $50 when she bought a single $6 drink. There's no phone number listed that she can even call to get this sorted out, forcing her to go through her financial institution. This place is super sketchy and I would not recommend.

Good food, clean, but they punched me in the face.

IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR: Absolute worst bouncers. I was in Maine visiting family for the weekend. When trying to get into the bar, the bouncer took our ID's and told us he believed they were fake due to "inconsistencies" and that we would have to find the police to get them back. After getting our ID's verified by the police, he would still not let us in. The bouncer proceeded to follow us to another bar to kick us out of that one even after their bouncer had let us in because they're all owned by the same people supposedly.

To be completely honest, I didn't go INSIDE this place, but I walked by it and it was so lit and poppin'. I wanted to go in but the group that I was with wanted to go somewhere else. You could hear the music from the street walking by, it was a great vibe even just walking by.

Mike Himself

A lot of ladies, but was closed when I sought them out recently...was very disappointed by this

Matthew Parker

Gross health standards and owned by poor management. Staff is way too temperamental and pompous

worst night of my life, it was my birthday and me and my boyfriend who work 6 days a week and only had very little money to do something went here and got kicked out for being "too intoxicated" they were so rude and unwilling to here us out, please please please DO NOT go to this bar

Emma Greenberg

Homophobic/transphobic staff

I was completely shocked by the way the doorman and owner treat people of diversity. If you don’t fit their idea of what they consider to be their “crowd” then you won’t get in. Zero tolerance and diversity at this place.

Oasis is best bar in the old port bar none! One of the only bar's that offers a live band out side. They have a up stairs DJ and dance floor that's always hoping. The bar tenders are rite on the spot! The security rite on as well and made me feel safe and felt like they were there for me! Would definitely go again anytime I'm back in the old port!

SantaCon was a experience if you didn't know about it. however most bars do the same first weekend of December. Bar staff was quick to serve if your loud enough to be heard. Most of security was on point except for a few. They seemed very on edge and just looking for a fight with local patrons. Pretty much a hole in the wall if you are into that type of atmosphere. There is better places to go if looking for a staggering night out. Would not recommend a second visit.

I go to Oasis regularly and didn't appreciate being kicked out for telling a security worker that I didn't want to talk to him while I was trying to enjoy my night with friends. I was the designated driver for my friends and getting pushed out the door by a worker who was twice my size at 12:57 when the bars close at 1 was ignorant.

employs musty homophones and won't even apologize

I've never written a bad review ever, because I've never had such an inappropriate experience to go out of my way and say something bad about the place. But Oasis, Oasis is the single worst place in Portland. I don't mean to throw Oasis under the bus because really it's the out of line bouncers they hire that abuse the 'authority' they are given. The number of complaints about them assaulting guests written here alone should be more than enough for something to change. I was outraged when it happened to me, and I'm absolutely sickened to watch it happen time and time again. The racist, sexist behavior displayed over and over by the bouncers working at Oasis should not be tolerated, and is beyond unacceptable. I hope that by reading any number of these reviews you'll see that just about everyone has had a similar terrible experience, and next time your on Wharf St you'll go somewhere else. Porthole is way more fun anyway

Good music and lots of space, not too expensive

A bar that makes you pay for water. Makes. You. Pay. For. Water. I think I've said enough.

I'm a military member and I went there with my fiance. Obviously having out of state IDs. They took hers and wouldnt give it back until the police showed up an hour later, only to not let us in, after the security guard had been rude and extremely disrespectful.

Douglas Brassill

Fun to be had

Oasis has always been my favorite go to bar in Portland, Maine. Two different levels with two different vibes. Upstairs club is a great dance atmosphere and the outside patio has some great live bands in the summer!

Matthew Fishbein

River Water

Seriously.. they were rejecting almost every girl with open shoes (feet exposed). I just had a tiny hole in mine and that led to me not getting in. It makes some sense, I guess since broken glass can be present on the floor at times. But shouldn't that be under the person that accidently steps on some glass fall on their responsibility? I dunno guys.

Absolutely reeks of piss. Thought maybe my nose was oversensitive or it was an off night, but I've heard the same thing from other people. There are plenty bars in the Old Port that have cheap drinks and won't make you think you're in a stable.

Steve Callahan

Imagine someone that enjoys a good power trip, but they were too rude and didn't have the people skills to actually get a job that has real power/authority. That person you imagined is a bouncer here.

Lory Guerrette

I didn’t know it was a requirement by law to say hello to security in order to get in the club. I highly recommend you reevaluate your security staff because they are losing you business because of their own pride.

Katina Ford

A little racist honestly..... :(

Great fun place after 10 pm

Matthew Brunelle

A pretty average experience. The outdoor area with beer pong tables and Jenga was interested though.

Rum Buckets for life!

Outstanding Customer Service My phone was found at Oasis and the next day one of the employees Caleb contacted me via facebook to let me know. He went above and beyond while helping me. He drove the phone to me the next day without hesitation. I cant imagine this kind of customer service from many of the bars in the area! Drinks and dancing are always great, I will be back!

Aspen Ruhlin

Big yikes to this place. Incredibly transphobic and homophobic staff. There are much better (both in not being hateful and also just higher quality) bars in Portland to spend your money at

Taylor Turner

This place smells. And bad. Plus they were really transphobic. Jesus even bar rescue wouldn't be able to save this place.

Jackie Grim

Nick

Be very weary of this place. I saw a bouncer rip a kid to the floor for no reason. It was clearly assault. The cops protected them - Awful humans.

Max Charp

Live band when I was there. Crowdy, good vibe, loved it

Andrew Baker

Alyssa Frost

Brian Kearney

Two floors, dancing, young crowd!

Matthew Perry

Live music on the patio!

Emily Rose

Worst experience ever! I was there for a Bachelorette party and had no problem getting in at 8:30pm by 12:30am we were told we were kicked out because the mother of the bride was "too old to be there" Weird since she was the one buying shots and drinks all night for not only us but others at the bar. Our money was better off at a place that accepts everyone!
